Popular Post Heather342
Update 14 I DID IT!!!!!!!!! I finally got the Cuphead platinum about 5 minutes ago ??? It was down to Wally Warbles for the final showdown. My god, that was really tough and literally down to the wire on the final shot. I've been practicing against him for the past 4 and a half hours. Those projectiles in the first phase of the fight just fly so damn fast. But it is done, and I can rest now lol! But not for too long, I need to finish Hitman 3 next ?

Popular Post Draps-1337
Another Update. Finally making some progress! Took me enough time though haha. Been working on my side project game engine, which is certainly taking a lot of my time away from gaming. I don't know if I'll actually get to playing Crash this challenge. I still have to finish Steven Universe. There is also a few newish releases that I want to try out. Persona 5 Strikers and It Takes Two are up there on the want to play list. Good luck everyone! Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
19th update - I managed to finish Tearaway: Unfolded which was truly an absolute joy to play. A game about the importance of sharing and enjoying stories together and a lovely reminder that we all have the capacity to be good to eachother and to do good for eachother. This is a bit of a read so i'll put it in spoilers to avoid a mega post and if you aren't up for reading it. Thoughts on Tearaway:Unfolded Spoiler I was trying to put my finger on why it made me so happy when I was playing it. Imagine you've been scrolling through social media feeds for an hour and you realise that you've literally been looking at awful event or awful story one after the other, hammering at your brain incessantly. Then you come across one single story in all that muck, one little glimpse of positivity which makes you remember that it's not all bad and terrible out there and it makes you remember that there are good people and good stories too, the algorithm just keeps you seeing the negative stuff. Playing Tearaway:Unfolded was that feeling in a nutshell, a wholesome, positive and good story with a lovely final message at the very end of your adventure. After finishing it fully it's quite a shame that Media Molecule seem to have buried the IP now in favour of things like Dreams. I thought the visuals were gorgeous and the gameplay itself was engaging and fun to play around with. Everything seemed to be designed with a huge amount of love and creativity. I remember it being free on PS+ many years ago now and I just let it pass me by, dismissing it for other games at the time. But I'm so glad I decided to pick it back out of my older backlog and give it a fair shake. There were a few gripes I had with it, the camera would very occasionally go dizzy (which i'm guessing was a casualty of it's port over from the Vita) and there was sometimes an issue with the way the game tracked progress for killing enemies (each level had a checklist of things you needed to do to get the 100%). But they weren't game-breakers for me really. The gameplay itself was a varied mix of different gameplay loops that worked quite well together and the replay value was pretty high - going back to older levels with new abilities to access previously inaccessible areas etc. Nothing felt like an impossible challenge, there were definitely moments where it was challenging, sure - but with practice and memorisation things worked out and it felt very rewarding. I would say that the trickiest part of the whole game was the Misplaced Gopher side missions. A large amount of levels had a lost gopher who you had to pick up and carry across part of the level to get to their home. If you died, you had to reset the level to respawn it and try again. Some of the later levels were tricky where this was concerned, but again, after a few tries it all worked out. All in all, I can't believe I slept on this game and it's cemented it's place as one of my favourite games from the Vita generation (even though I experienced it on the PS4) Next up for me in the challenge Spoiler I'm still working slowly on my gardening in Nier:Replicant but I'm still not sure if that's going to end up getting moved to the next challenge. We technically have 3 weeks left before the end of the challenge. I was going to have Resident Evil 8 to the Summer challenge, but I think i'm going to move it here. I'm pretty confident I can get it done by then. I made a little bit of progress last night and I'm honestly hooked, even though Ethan seems to be a bit of a dope in how he verbally reacts to the madness around him. If you had a read through everything in the spoiler tags - thank you for giving your time to read my thoughts (i'm sending you an internet high-five). I'm currently trying to figure out what my Summer challenge list is going to look like. So many decent and promising games on the horizon! Have a good rest-of-weekend all and I'll catch you in the next update! Popular Post YaManSmevz
First and foremost, a hearty congratulations to @Heather342! Platting Cuphead is no small feat. As for me, Fallout 4 is off to a decent start and I'm getting into the swing of it. I must admit however that already I've found myself scum saving more than I can ever recall doing... it's way too easy to accidentally wind up in spots where you're clearly underleveled and I'm so stubborn that I'll just try to finagle my way through anyway (which to my credit I've been able to thus far, but I know pushing it wouldn't be wise). Reached the last level of the last DLC on Overcooked 2, and it's kinda rough! I'm surprised at how much this cute, cuddly game, rated a 4/10 at its hardest, has been kicking my ass! Surely I'm missing something, as for the most part once I figure out an efficient method any given level does become pretty easy to get three stars. Oh well. What can I say, gaming is a bit harder when you aren't particularly bright? Lastly, and probably against my better judgement, I've added GTA3. I bought the ps2 package when I first got my ps4 and recently finished Vice City, and figured why not. I'm fairly confident I can make short work of it like FF7, as I've similarly obliterated both games in the past (my favorite games from freshman and senior year... MEMORIES!) and frankly I've developed an almost Stockholm syndrome-ish love for the anxiety of juggling multiple games with a deadline. I will most likely sit out the summer challenge and give my playstation a rest for a while, so I may as well make the most of it while I'm here! As usual, thank you for your updates and reading my blatherings! 1. Resident Evil 2 2. Overcooked 2 (81-->92%) 3. Final Fantasy 7 4. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered 5. Manhunt 6. Popular Post StilRh
Hi guys. Update time. This week I spent with Civ managing to complete a diety game, and Final Fantasy 7 remake, working on some of the Chapter 14 quests (struggling with the pull up challenge as too much for arthritic hands at times lol - going to wait for a 'good' day to approach that). I won a copy of the lovely Settlers-esque 'The Colonist' so that has been on my gaming schedule but not part of the challenge. Resident Evil also has been something I've been playing and intend to swap for Thea (great game but not in mood for it currently) on my list. Just finished my first run totally blind on standard which wasn't too bad. I've heard the platinum is reasonable with the post-game shop unlocks making things easier for harder difficulties. This week: Finish Resident Evil and chip away at Final Fantasy some more. I also barely touched Dynasty Warriors 7 for some reason. Just wasn't feeling it this week I guess. Then RE8 took over my weekend. So once again I'm falling apart at the end of one of these challenges. There's still 3 weeks left, but RE8 has me in its clutches right now and isn't letting go. If worse comes to worse I'll shift Ys IX over to the Summer challenge, but I'd like to get all 10 games done. We'll see! Popular Post Hisuiryu
Week 10 Update A little late this week, but I have a decent update to give thanks to my swap! I finished Seasons After Fall over the last couple of days, it's a nice and short puzzle-platformer (with a metroivania-flair in terms of exploration, ability advancement and backtracking). It's pretty simple, I completed the 100% without any kind of guide in around 7 hours, but very enjoyable overall and definitely worth picking up if you see it on sale. I also made a little bit more progress on Catherine, managing the clear all of Stage 5 and part 1 of stage 6 on hard mode - I picked up 2 miscellaneous trophies on the way too. I might try and clear up Rapunzel this week assuming I can clear stage 6 and make it back to the bar... I'm on track to get all the non-Babel trophies when I finish this play through, even if I don't complete it before the end of the event I expect I can get up to 80-90% at least! The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker - 0% Currently sprinting for the finish line but I'm going to fall a little short. Not to worry though. I'm still transitioning from having all the time in the world to having a lot less. I'll be joining the Summer challenge, but I'll keep my list to 5, maybe 6. Good decision on my part to include A Plague Tale: Innocence. I really enjoyed the setting and the characters. I like journeys like this where you're introduced to new characters not just for the sake of it, but characters that really add to the story. I loved the interactions with your younger brother as well, who genuinely seems like a 5 year old which could have been quite hard to achieve. As a rule of thumb, I'm not a massive stealth fan but I really didn't mind it here because I enjoyed the story so much. It could have benefitted from more boss fights, I really enjoyed the first one which kind of acted as a tutorial, but then there wasn't really any others to note until much later. That aside, the whole package is a great success. Manipulating the rats for destruction or puzzle solving doesn't get stale. I also completed all I can with Concrete Genie this last week. It makes me want to revisit Okami which I've only played on the Wii. I finished off the collectables today which felt a little bit long, but that's because I decided I needed to prioritise it on my first day off since last week. I'm not a massive fan of bullies in games. It just felt a bit lazy and I'm sure they could have achieved the general premise of the story without going down that route. Still, I enjoyed the painting which is the main part and it did feel magical so it achieved what it tried to do. Defo a PS+ only game for me, but I liked it more than I didn't. I decided to start Legacy of the First Blade in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I was going to start the Atlantis one first but then my need to play things in order kicked in. It's a bit like I expected, same same but different, but it feels like an enjoyable ongoing task rather than a boring chore. The introduction of new skills helps keep fighting fresh because I'd kind of settled on my "character build" in beast mode. Just ticked off episode 1 so I'm 1/6 for the remaining DLC. I've stopped PGA Tour 2K21 in it's tracks at 50% because I'll carry it over to the Summer challenge. I'm playing all the tournaments as I did in the old Tiger Woods games, so I'm not tearing through it for the tournament trophies. I haven't got a hole in one or holed a bunker shot yet so I need to stop in case I do! Strangely, I holed a bunker shot in real life for the 1st time last week. Shamelessly told the person I was playing with that I still needed to hole a bunker shot on PGA Tour 2K21 for a trophy. He couldn't give less of a shit if he tried ? Well done everyone for cracking on! We're getting there! Take it easy ? Edited May 13, 2021 by Stanners316
Popular Post Heather342
Update 15 I have completed Hitman 3 today, and this game was my platinum #47 as planned ? I really do enjoy these Hitman games, I first picked it up when the 2016 reboot was released and really enjoyed working through the levels and unlocking the trophies. When Hitman 2 came out, it included all of the levels from the first Hitman game, so I ended up unlocking the trophies again. Now with this third installment it had all of the earlier levels again, so I ended up doing it all another time ?. I know this time around you could do a progress carry over, but auto-popping trophies that way doesn't sit right with me, and I enjoy the games so much it wasn't a chore. Playing all the levels in sequential order right from the beginning was actually a great way to experience the story running through the trilogy, I saw things this time I'd overlooked on previous runs of the game. As we head into the final stretch of the challenge I have one game left. - Assassin's Creed Revelations (26 -> 100%) - Spirit of the North (0 -> 100%) - Cuphead (14 -> 100%) - Hitman 3 (16 -> 100%) - Dragon Age 2 (37%) Happy hunting everyone ?
Popular Post StilRh
Hi guys. Very little progress this week. Work has been really eating into my time (I am a lead for one of the quality improvement schemes so lots of meetings etc out of my usual working hours) lately and one of my last shifts was absolute horendous due to how unsettled the was. It had sapped any desire to play games I've not found relaxing. So only a single bronze trophy to show so far my knife only/no spend/speed run for RE8 - I will try and get the platinum minus the mercinaries mode completed this week IF my scheduled meetings and 2nd vaccine doesn't throw a spanner in the works lol. Hope you guys have had a much better week than I

This made getting the platinum fast and easy. I guess it’s not my kind of game. For Assassins creed I enjoyed the gameplay, but the game is super long and it overstays it’s welcome. I won’t be playing any assassins creed for a while! Need a break ? At this time I’m playing Kentucky Route Zero. The game is strange and mysterious, but I enjoy it so far. I’m in the third chapter. I’m also playing Persona 5 strikers. I like it so far, it’s nice seeing all those characters from Persona 5 again in a new story. I’ve decided to do a final swap and swap Yakuza out for Coffee Talk. I will never be able to get the platinum for Yakuza in this challenge so I’m postponing it for a later moment. Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
20th Update - I made some decent progress in Resident Evil 8 with only the final Mercenaries mode trophy to get and some miscellaneous bonus feature unlockables which i'll do last. So far Mercenaries mode hasn't been too much hassle, I got up to the Village of Madness level and I think after that I only have 4 more levels to get an S-Rank on and i'm finished with this game mode. This might be easier said than done though as the last 4 levels are harder versions of their predecessors. The difficult part is figuring out which weapon loadout is better for a particular level, once that is sorted it's pretty much just practice, repetition and a tiny tiny bit of RNG flavoured luck. And that's all I got as far as an update goes, I have a super busy work week ahead of me this week, so I hope I have the mental energy to work on those remaining S-Ranks in the evenings. Popular Post be_minor
Update #4: Since my last update (over a month ago), I’ve completed Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom and Ni No Kuni’s story. I shouldn’t be surprised by how relaxing it was to play through Invizimals, as it’s made for kids, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. The collectibles were tedious for a couple of levels, but with the level select menu, I was able to easily find what I needed. I also spent the past month restarting Ni No Kuni’s story while working towards collecting/ training familiars (40 hours thus far). I estimate I have another 20-30 hours post-game completing bounties, leveling up familiars, and hunting for absurdly rare alchemy ingredients. I absolutely adore this game though, so it's less of a chore. With two weeks left until the end of the challenge, I’m on track to fully completing one of these events. ? On an unrelated, personal note.. Spoiler This past month has been filled to the brim with real life events that leave a lot less time to game. I got engaged (woo!) and started the home-buying process (less woo). We're currently under contract for our first home, and between inspections, appraisal, and vetting the area, it's been a lot of time spent outside. ? I'm both terrified and exhilarated by the experience thus far.. Also, Mass Effect Legendary Edition released, and it's taking every fiber of my being to refrain from ditching Ni No Kuni to play through the games again. Red = Haven’t startedGreen = Progress madeBlue = Completed 100% 1. Mass Effect 2 2. Mass Effect 3 3. MediEvil 4. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch - 38% ➡️ 50% 5. Popular Post YaManSmevz
I wanted to start this week's update boasting about finally completing Overcooked 2, but that would be like a grown man gloating about successfully completing a maze on a children's menu at Denny's or something. I'm still trippin as to how that game set me back as much as it did but no matter, I got the S and that's that on that. Fallout 4 has very much grown on me, but dear lord, what a grind of a game! Now that I've leveled up, settled on a build, and stopped bothering with the minutemen (even after the trophy-related missions it seems they always need somethin from you), I'm seeing a clearer, albeit long, path to the end. Lastly, the nostalgia goggles have truly come through for me with GTA3. Maybe it's having already finished Manhunt and Vice City, but the controls, lack of a map, poor mechanics, etcetera do not bother me at all. Like FF7, I can still vividly remember when this was brand new and a really big deal. Still, thank goodness Rockstar's writing has improved tenfold over the years.. "This is the top capo, Tony Cipriani." "Yeah, I'm Tony Cipriani." "......." What stirring dialogue! It's getting exciting now! So many of you are right there, I hope I'll be able to join y'all on the winning side of the challenge. As always, thanks for reading and thanks for posting. I did make a little progress in DW7's Conquest Mode, but there's still plenty of grinding left to do. I'm hoping to get that and Dead Space 2 done at least, with a slight chance of squeezing Ys IX in there as well. Batman is, once again, probably a lost cause. Just too much stuff in that game for me. I'll keep chipping away at it outside of any events and hopefully get that 100% by the end of the year. Popular Post Hisuiryu
Week 11 Update So this week my energy has gone into Catherine, which means minimal progress trophy-wise. I have now managed to get golds on hard up to stage 9-6, so just the final level to go! Getting this far has let me get the remaining helping people and drink trivia trophies, but unfortunately not the text one as I'm apparently bad at garnering responses... It won't take long to sort that, but I'm focussed on getting my last gold first, then I'll worry about the rest. I'm still hopeful to get it finished by the end of the month, but I still have those Babel stages so we'll see how it goes That said, now over halfway through the month there is no real chance I'll be completing my list. I might still swap out one of my remaining games for another shorter one for that +1 completion, but it's unlikely until I finish Catherine. Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
21st update - with Resident Evil 8 becoming my 180th Platinum \o/. I loved the game itself, it's probably one of the best designed RE games i've played in the franchise from an art and creature design perspective. I had some thoughts on the game, including a couple spoilers and a some minor criticisms that I put in spoiler tags to avoid blasting your eyes with a wall of text. Spoiler There are some truly iconic and memorable set pieces and monsters in the game and it's one that you could easily spend hours and hours taking photos using the photo mode they included. There is a concept art gallery you can unlock and view over 120 pieces (you have to do this as part of platinum) but it really made me realise how much detailed thought went into every asset and area of the game. It also gives you a bit of lore that you wouldn't get during the course of the game itself which was great. It also brings me on to my first minor criticism of the game and it actually feels weird to say this - but I think there could have been more logs and notes to find and read as you explored. They did such a fantastic job of building this rich and interesting game world that I came out of the other end of the experience wanting to know much more about all of the characters and events. The characters were for a large part really interesting and engaging. We've all seen Lady Dimitrescu who took the internet by storm, so much so that Capcom changed up their marketing strategy a bit to capitalise on that. She was the face of RE8 in the end. I actually went into the game thinking she would effectively be to RE8 what Mr. X was to the RE2 remake. My expectation was that I would be exploring the village and a giant seemingly infinite castle while she and her sadistic daughters stalked me through the hallways and corridors. It was only until I got to a point in the story where I was put in front of the entire gallery of boss characters I would be facing for the rest of the game, that I realised there was so much more waiting for me than a 9ft tall vampire woman and her daughters. There was a sympathy about each of them too which reminded me a bit of the Baker family in RE7, none of them started out evil, they were just corrupted and distorted mentally and physically by the mold. Heisenberg was the only adversity in the game which I thought was a bit vanilla and they could have really done some interesting stuff with his character. For starters he hated the main boss baddy as much as you did. He even wanted an alliance with you to help take her down and he even seemed to like you. He had no loyalty to Miranda, just pure revenge filled hate for what she had done to him. To the point where he was literally building an army of cyborg zombies to try and take her down. I think it could have been a huge deal if, story-wise, the formula was completely shattered and you joined forces with him to try and end her. Instead he kinda just turned into a generic boss fight. Ethan was also a bit of a clumsily written character - I'm still not sure whether his dialogue was written by someone who set out to make him intentionally dumb. Or if it was just bad writing in general, but good lord, the stuff he said always felt a little bit out of sync and dense vs. what was happening to him. He felt a bit like a crash test dummy with a basic AI chip in it's brain. The body damage factor was a bit of a weird one for probably the first 3/4 of the game too. The amount of mutilation, laceration, dismemberment and general trauma he received was honestly insane, but he kept going with injuries that would completely floor a regular person. It got to the point where it distracted me a bit from the story and I would constantly question why he didn't react to getting his fingers bitten off or his hand literally chopped off. The point where he gets his hand chopped off, as in - completely removed from his body and he ends up sticking it back on, and within seconds he is moving his fingers and wrist again as normal. This is the first proper sign that there is something different about Ethan, but he doesn't react to the fact that he just reattached his hand and it was working perfectly. In fact he says nothing about his Logan level healing factor and it's a revelation at the end for him when it's all explained. That example pretty much sums up the quality of writing for his character. Even though Ethan is a bit of a dummy, it's not distracting enough to damage the enjoyment of the game and by the time I hit the end of my first playthrough, I couldn't wait to get back in and experience the game again. I think this is one of the best entries into the Resident Evil franchise and I really hope they go into as much creative detail for future instalments. Talking of what's next, I really have no idea where the franchise is going to go from this point. I would personally love a sequel where you play as his daughter, Rose. Her character presents some really interesting gameplay opportunities considering she seems to basically be like Eve from RE7 but a good and decent person instead. Nier Replicant is now in my Summer games list which starts soon. I was originally going to add a quicker game to this challenge to close the gap between now and the Summer challenge start. But I think I'm going to end my participation here and catch up on some DLC that i've missed in other games - Immortals, Metro Exodus, AC Valhalla etc. Thanks for all your updates in this challenge, it's really helped keep me sane while all the madness of the world goes on around us. I'm really hyped for the Summer challenge, in particular the Mass Effect trilogy which i'm really holding myself back on playing right now. Anyway, as always, thanks for reading and hope to see everyone in the Summer challenge! Popular Post WishingLemon
Time continues to fly and I don't notice. I think I've bitten off more than I can chew with Ghost, so many collectibles lol It's not bad but it's starting to drag a little. The environments are stunning though, you can see how much love went into it. Unfortunately my enjoyment is being stifled by the fact they decided not to have a proper lock-on. Multiple times I have died, or a hostage has died because he refuses to turn around, parry the correct attack, or focus on the guy right behind him instead choosing to focus on the guy that's running over the hill. Since the event ends at the end of May, I might prioritize the shorter games so my list doesn't look like such a complete failure lol Overcooked - 100% Ghost of Tsushima - 17% > 22% Murdered: Soul Suspect - 0% Cat Quest II - 0% Darkwood - 2% Aven Colony - 0% Monkey King Is Back - 0% Nexomon: Extinction - 47% Seasons After Fall - 0% Road to Guang Dong - 0% Dear Esther - 100% The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - 100% Those Who Remain - 58% ⭐ Spyro Reignited Trilogy > 100%
