You know, I really enjoyed FFXIV last year and even got a character(who has been deleted due to boredom and regret as I funded it with level skip money) past Endwalker. I'd like to redo the experience from scratch and maybe even form a free company with you once i got my Grand Company rank up. And yes, that means going back into my Square-Enix account and redownloading FFXIV's launcher. However, due to the community taking on the challenge from Yoshida not to hack by hacking, I heard that people are selling offers to plat the game for newbies with their illegal 3rd-party devices. If I do decide to restore my FFXIV account, it'll probably be this summer since I have a few games on the docket.

Since I assume Psy will be adding me, here is the list of games I have already created for the event and ones I want to contribute later this year in the order I plan to do them:

1S8ee169.png
Hogwarts Legacy: I am going on a mecca to Universal Studios Florida, spending the morning at the park absorbing the atmosphere of the recreated Hogsmeade and Diagon and the afternoon in the hotel playing this. I was going to do the trash files for the three houses, but decided that I will just go all in and start my adventure during my vacay after flying to Florida on the 20th and then finish up cleanup when I return the PS5 back home on the 24th. ;)

1S9b1ce4.png

World of Final Fantasy: Just recovered my save at Pyreglow but might start a second file from scratch since I forgotten how many chests I have opened and will probably need a checklist anyways since you have to empty every treasure chest. Since this game failed to be budged in my last Backlog participation and cost me the 100% list in Winter Backlog 2022, I'm going to make this one of my Double Point games just to have a bounty on it.

1Sb1f155.png

Disgaea 4 Complete+: Not sure if this counts as Disgaea 4 for the Most Wanted title, so I didn't make it my second Double Point game. I intend to get the platinum soon. Might just restart to follow the Green Z-Saberv Twitch of his speedrun of platinum% of this game.

1S083ec3.png

Ni No Kuni Remastered: One of the hard copies I have and while I will miss the death dupe glitch for selling tons of Sage's Secrets, I'm assured that spending time in the skeleton casino gambling on a card game isn't as bad as I thought. :P

1S18f799.png

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. The other hard copy I have. I played this for KYC2022 and want it off my backlog so this is going to be my Triple Point game. I've seen zer0skar speedrun the platinum and Order of Ambrosia categories and he put down a spreadsheet of notes for the platinum trophy% so I will be referring to that. Might restart the game as I am out of touch with my save data and would like to redo Vaan's license board but over all, wish me luck. ^_^

1S957d5f.png

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix:This game was going to be my vacay game because my initial plan was to spend the mornings at Disneyworld. However, Disney Co. are greedy landsharks and after hearing that it costs $10,000 to have a hotel there, we changed the plans to Universal insted. :( Because Disney are greedy bastards, this game goes on the sh** list as my second Double Point game. Also, because the game has six superbosses that could one-shot me and I have to complete Proud Mode anyways, this deserves to have a bounty.

1S22745e.png
Kingdom Hearts RE:Chain of Memories: I got the plat in this on an alternate account. I can do this. Also, card battling isn't just for 10,000 year old Pharoah ghosts. xD

1S732db0.png
Dragon Quest XI S: I love Dragon Quest, and yet I have no mainline DQ to show for it. That changes this year. No questions allowed. I'll earn all of the trophies on 2D Mode if I have to, even though people say 3D is better. (I completed this game's story on the Switch in 2D and enjoyed it.)

And here are all the games I haven't even touched yet outside of Hogwarts Legacy which I promised to play and backed out on:

1Sf0c83b.png

Rogue Galaxy: AKA Dark Cloud 3. I actually completed this game a long time ago and enjoyed it despite having to switch guns when I had to fight an enemy with an energy barrier, a common occurrence in the final dungeon. :(

1S62be61.png1Sb4c851.png1Sa7d0c1.png

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD

Kingdom Hearts III

I intend to hit every KH game I can... except KHII. I love KHII and would love to hack the game into my computer to join SpikeVegeta in the KH2 Randomizers, but sadly until I can conquer Yozora, I am not even confident I can handle KH2 Critical Mode. (I did get to Roxas in that mode but rage quit because I didn't realize that I needed to slam Reflect magic the instance he shouts his attack to deflect that one-hit-kill he starts with. :()

Finally, some games I want to touch on in the future...

1S3d12b8.png1S1618a6.png

Persona 3 Portable

Persona 4 Golden

I'm done a lot of P4G in older accounts on the Vita, but Risette always scared me away. Now that the Vita store is pretty much doomed, the only digitals I have left on my Vita are P4G and Minecraft, and I bought them just in time. Now with P3P and P4G on the PS4(yeah, that's a lot of acronyms xD) I am hoping to jump back in and try to have these classics join my two stacks of P5R. ;)

1S771e39.png1Sdd4e85.png

Wild ARMS 2

Wild ARMS 3

I want to try these games now that I platinumed the first. However, since they don't have exploits, it will take me a while to warn up to them even though WA3 had been on PSN since PSN existed as it was introduced with Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 as a PS2 classic.

Check their genre in their pages. If they have RPG in their genre tags, they are, but I think these are more adventure games.

i have watched assasins creed genres and those are adventure and still thinking wich game i can do  persona 3 and horizon zero dawn complete edition since its the first time i joined rpg mania i have alot of rpg games just rotting away in my backlog that is why i joined this event jrpg and rpg though i have the last persona 5 original game left but its just a bit complicated with the great phantom thieve conviene wich required all confidants max lvl so that is a tough trophie

Uhm... you do not have to quote my entire post. Just highlight the part of the post you want to comment on and "Quote This" will appear when you right click it. Click that and it'll just post that part. There is no need to post all of my post as there are a huge number of illustrations and I'm sure the forums do not like reposting that many pictures. :P

Everyone who has stated interest has been added to the participants list.

@blu3st4rdust305 glad you could join one of my events, good to see you here. :)

@Taruta13 I like the list of games you have, a good variety and some real challenges. I can't wait to hear the story of how your RPG journey is going to go.

@SWWDevereux if the listing on PSNProfiles says they are part of the same series, then yes. If not, then not so much. Also if anyone has options for the Most Wanted List and good reasons, I'll split it so that we have a nice mix for the first 6 months and then another set for the following 6 months.

Thanks! Though the list might grow... after seeing the Completionist review for Octopath Traveler, I might add the sequel to this list. ;)

And here is how it might grow. I found a few games I have on my old accounts (and a new game!) that qualify:

1Sd33003.pngDisgaea 1 Complete: The OG Disgaea with the tyrannical prince, Laharl. His "Ha ha haaaaaaaa!" laugh makes Kefka quake in his boots.

1S8fa2cb.pngDisgaea 6 Complete: But I'd have to milk the demo HARD to get strong enough to risk it because the bar has been shot into outer space with the first boss being Level 100.

1S675c17.pngDisgaea 3: Absence of Detention: This is my favorite Disgaea title and Mao and his companions are all hilarious. Sadly, the grind is pretty nasty.

Octopath Traveller II: I heard a lot of great things about the original OP from the Completionist and might look into this one for a summer slog after my backlog. ^_^

1Sa30a46.pngFinal Fantasy XIV: Yes, looking into this again. My mind is being cleansed of Cici Arashi's story so I might jump back into the MMO scene with Patch 6.55. ;)

EDIT:  Still haven't gotten word on whether Disgaea 4 Complete+ counts as the Disgaea 4 for the Most Wanted list.

What the hey, I'll jump back into this.  I won't win -- I have neither the time nor the single-minded determination (nor the budget) to rack up the disgustingly huge numbers of points -- but I've refreshed my stack of RPGs a bit this year and there are a couple of cheap-o RPGs in there for quick points when I feel like the buzz.

Triple Point Game:  Soul Hackers 2

Double Point Game:  Persona 3 (the re-release/re-master for PS4 that came out a few months ago)

Double Point Game:  Persona 4 (ditto)

Three Thoughts

Regarding Call-Outs?  Can there be some sort of mechanism put into place to level the playing field?  To ensure that one person doesn't get called out umpteen times while some other people don't get ignored?

Also regarding Call-Outs?  I'm one of those OCD completionists who doesn't keep incomplete games on his backlog; if I start an RPG, I generally play it all the way through to completion without interruption.  (This doesn't apply to the two strategy games near the top of my trophy log; I play those in "bite-sized" chunks.  But neither one is an RPG, even if I stretch the definition a fair amount.  Nor does this apply to Gems of War, which is a match-3 Gatcha.)

A suggested addition to the Most Wanted List:  9th Dawn III, which I'm currently playing and probably will have wrapped up by the end of the month.  (With a PSNP Guide to follow; my muse has stirred.)  I peg this title as "only" 100-150 hours to do everything, but the postgame is among the most tedious things I've had to do.  Worse, it's pretty much all unnecessary padding from the developers -- some of it doesn't actually do anything to help you in the game, the rest can be completely ignored and you'll never notice the difference.

(There's a damn good reason why there are only 2 platinum achievers for that title in this website's tracking.)

I've also been turning ideas over in my mind for some sort of "bonus" scoring mechanism tied to how many competitors completed a particular title prior during the competition, but I can't find a scoring paradigm and an explanation to make it work.  As a way to perhaps refund some advantage to those of us who don't have the time/money/effort available to blow through brand new titles upon release but get to them later in the competition after some others play through it.  But since I can't find a system that satisfies myself, I'll just toss it on the scrap heap of ideas unless somebody else wants to pick it up and give it a whirl.

You receive reduced credit for any game that you had "in progress" when the competition started, assuming you complete the game during the competition calendar.  You don't receive points for the trophies earned prior to the start date, and you also get a penalty based on your trophy completion percentage as of the start date.

They're not huge numbers unless you had most of the trophies complete when the start date rolled around.  But if that's a possibility and you care about maximizing points, you probably shouldn't start one of your bonus scoring games early.

Most of the games I declared were just started and only had a few trophies, mainly because I was doing some for KYC2022. But other than World of Final Fantasy, everything else has less than 10% trophy completion and less than 10 trophies earned.

Well, sh*t. I didn't realize that the event won't start until two and a half weeks from now! xD:(

That means that any game I do start playing will lose points as I earn trophies. So I'll remove a few I intend to play, especially Hogwarts Legacy, since I spent $418.54 on a ticket to Universal Theme Parks just for the Harry Potter experience in the morning and carry that into this game at night, so no way am I holding this game off... at least for PS5. Don't know if I wanna touch the inferior PS4 version with a ten-foot pole. (From LEGO Experience, every PS4 version of a PS5 game is inferior crap.) :P

I'll put up a blog post on my blog, but since I know people hate visiting blogs, here's a revised list of games I know I won't touch with a sticky stick until April rolls around. A few of these have trophies as I played them for KYC2022, but the rest are unstarted or not even bought yet as I heard about them and was intrigued.

Games I have trophies in:

  • Dragon Quest XI S: 87.46 points (5%, 4 bronze)
  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age: 93.45 points (7%, 5 bronze)
  • Kingdom Hearts Final Mix: 90.34 points (1%, 1 bronze)
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories: 96.32 points (5%, 5 bronze)

Games I have bought but not started: (0%, 0 trophies)

  • Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix: 92.58 points
  • Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance: 91.22 points
  • Kingdom Hearts III: 82.08 points
  • Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom: 77.84 points
  • Persona 3 Portable: 92.85 points
  • Persona 4 Golden: 93.39 points
  • Rogue Galaxy: 94.42 points

Games I have not even bought yet but plan on buying:

  • Death end re;Quest: 82.65 points
  • Octopath Traveller II: 92.41 points
  • Wild ARMS 2: 92.27 points
  • Wild ARMS 3: 93.15 points

I might amend this but 15 RPGs is already a lot to put on my plate for 9 months. xD

@Psy-Tychist Back in 2021 comp edition there was a topic around the Yakuza 4-6 as they are not listed as a direct RPG but more listed as Open-World, Hack and Slash, Beat em up Adventure. Yet they play the same as Yakuza 0 to 3 which are listed as RPG. Back then we were divided but it looked it was supporting Yakuza 4-6 to be allowed as they play almost the same/ very similar to the first 4 games which are listed as RPG. Can I get your thoughts on if you are going to allow Yakuza 4, 5, 6 or only allow Yakuza 0, 1, 2, 3, 7. Thanks

I've only just started playing Yakuza Kiwami and I can already see it is much more in depth than Sleeping Dogs or any other open world game which focuses on action.

Personally, I can see why Kiwami would get the label of RPG as the skill tree is quite extensive and you do get actual permanent bonuses to your character.

In the case of the Yakuza franchise, I would be more inclined to say that the whole Yakuza franchise would count as RPG's, rather than excluding some from the list.

Wait till you see Kiwami 2 skill design it feels even more like a RPG, But I agree it should be an all or nothing for 0 - 6 as the style itself does not change much

  • Octopath Traveller II: 92.41 points
  • Wild ARMS 2: 92.27 points
  • Wild ARMS 3: 93.15 points

Soooo... I downloaded DERQ, saw that DERQ2 was also included, and just decided why and downloaded this too. These games were made by the same guys who made the Mugen Souls series(Compile Heart) so why not? Because these two games look to be heavy nasty grinds, I am making both DERQs my double-pointers. Changed my triple pointers to P4G because Gott Die Mist, if I get Hardcore Risette without trouble, I DESERVE those bonus points. :P

EDIT: Since Disgaea 4 Complete+ is considered Disgaea 4, one of the Most Wanted games, I decided to add it back in. It's not a big deal to ignore the game until April as I'll be pretty busy with Hogwarts Legacy and World of Final Fantasy anyways. ;)

1. I think that it is a fair idea that when calling out people, everyone should have at least 1 choice before the same person can be called out again. So, to make sure that most people could have a call out, once someone is called out, they cannot be called out again until everyone else has been called out once.

2. If you don't have a backlog on PSNP and have games in your library, provide a list of games that people can use to call out a game for you.

3. 9th Dawn III looks like an option to be added to the Most Wanted list, I will look to see how I can amend the Most Wanted List to fit them all in.

4. Interesting Idea, I will have a look and see what options that may be added in the future.

I was thinking of playing Danganronpa S Ultimate Summer camp. It's 120+ hours, very grindy. It isn't classified as an rpg on the PSN Profiles page but it's defo a turn based RPG. Just making sure this will count before I invest the time? 1f61b.png

Based on what I have watched of gameplay, it looks like a Strategy RPG to me. So, yes it counts.

The new spreadsheet is up to date with everyone that has signed up so far and with everyone's Double and Triple games they have decided.

Call Out's can commence when most people have chosen their x2 and x3 games.

Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla are all very much cut from the same cloth, so if any of them qualify then they all should.

I'd been meaning to ask: do we need to declare our double and triple point games in advance? I was hoping to use Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak as my triple if it gets its own trophy list like Iceborne, but there's no way to know whether it will until it's out.
