Titanfall 2 coming to PS4 claim insiders

The sequel to Titanfall will not be an Xbox exclusive, as rumours suggest that EA has already signed to publish the follow-up.

It might have seemed a given but apparently EA was only ever going to be the publisher on Titanfall 2 if it was a major success, and at least according to the first week UK sales that’s exactly what it is.

That of course immediately brings to mind questions of a sequel, which insiders talking to website Polygon claim will not be an Xbox exclusive.

How and why the first Titanfall became an exclusive is a matter of some controversy, with even Respawn apparently only finding out at the last minute – and seeming not to be very happy about the fact.

Around the same time co-founder Vince Zampella also confirmed that Respawn would definitely be making PlayStation 4 games in the future, although he never confirmed Titanfall 2 specifically.

For EA’s part they’ve insisted that the first Titanfall will remain an Xbox exclusive ‘for the life of the title’ but also have never ruled out the sequel going multiformat.

Given that the Xbox One has not been the market-dominating success EA was probably expecting before they signed their exclusivity deal (despite Titanfall itself causing a boost in sales) there seems little reason not to expect Titanfall 2 to be on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The next question therefore is when a sequel could arrive, and whether the series will start to get yearly sequels. Respawn are unlikely to want that but it is conceivable that EA will try and alternate it between Battlefield, so that you get a new Titanfall one year and Battlefield the next.

I didn't know they were gonna make a sequel but I hope Titanfall 2 comes to the PS4. Not sure how the Xbox One will compete against the PS4 if this happens. Opinions?

After EA decided the title wasn't going to be a PC exclusive like Respawn originally planned, I think they were planning on releasing it on both consoles. Microsoft threw their money around and secured exclusivity for the title on console but EA would be silly to not release the second game on PlayStation, especially considering it is the best selling current gen system thus far.

Also, EA regret not bringing Titanfall to the PlayStation 4 already.

With the release of Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall on the PC and Xbox One, you would think that Microsoft’s Xbox One would begin the counter-attack on the PS4. However, as the NPD’s February report indicates, there are already signs of the sales gap diminishing between the two consoles.

But that doesn’t mean Sony doesn’t have its own big game for March, namely Sucker Punch’s inFamous: Second Son. Industry insider Pete Dodd, also known as NeoGAF member famousmortimer, said that there’s plenty of excitement for the open world title.

“Don’t sleep on inFamous. The social metrics on that game are through the roof. Also… MLB The Show rarely breaks a million units, but it sells hardware.”

On being asked to explain the metrics, Dodd listed YouTube numbers. “YouTube views. Twitter mentions. Preorders.

“Second Son –– Published March 7th. 4.7 million views.

“To find anything even close on Titanfall’s YouTube you have to go back to October.

“– 2.3 million views. Their E3 video is just over 3 million. Their ‘official gameplay launch trailer’ which is a week old… 194k.

“People give a f**k about inFamous. I’m not speaking about quality in the slightest. I have and absolutely love Titanfall. I’m just saying, and the person who clued me into this is very much with Microsoft, but don’t sleep on inFamous. Titanfall is dominating the media but inFamous is dominating things where the consumer makes the choice (like YouTube, Twitter, etc) and not editors.

When told that Ryse: Son of Rome’s live action spot has the same number of views as the inFamous video, Dodd responded that, “The same amount of views since October vs the same amount of views from 2 weeks ago. You don’t think there is a difference there? Someone with marketing knowledge needs to get up in this bitch. They have this shit down to a science right now. I am not one of those people, but I’ve talked to them. They all say ‘DONT SLEEP ON INFAMOUS!’

He also revealed that EA are apparently ‘sorry’ to Sony for not bringing Titanfall for the PS4/PS3.

“Sony also used it’s own metrics in a meeting with EA last week and showed them what they would have sold on the ps3 and ps4. The money EA took from MS doesn’t even begin to cover it. The EA guys went over the math and agreed. EA is in full ‘We’re so f**king sorry, Sony’ mode currently. Also, Titanfall Xbox 360 is 30 fps. That’s just for free for reading my post.”

As a big fan of Titanfall I think it will be great when PlayStation users get to experience the series. Also, after the huge success of Titanfall was there really any doubt of a sequel?

I hope it doesn't turn out like Call Of Duty. One new Titanfall game per year would ruin it.

The reason there is a new CoD game each year is because there are multiple studios working on the title. When Infinity Ward releases one the next year Treyarch releases a title so the games always have a two year development cycle. Now CoD has a third developer so the games will have a 3 year development cycle.

Since Titanfall is only developed by Respawn Entertainment we'll have a couple years before we see Titanfall 2.

Hmm.. didn't know that, but still releasing a new game every year kinda kills interest. Atleast for me. One game every two years doesn't seem so bad.

I won't be surprised at all if we see Titanfall 2 next year. After watching a bunch of gameplay of Titanfall I won't be getting it though, unless they drastically change it for the sequel.

I still think they messed up by making it semi-exclusive. Either release it ONLY for Xbone (to hype it as a system seller) or release it on both sides. Don't put it on Xbone, 360, and PC. Because then it isn't really a system seller, especially for people who still have a 360 or a PC. Why would someone buy a $500 console for Titanfall when they can buy a $200 one and still play it?

I think if Titanfall was released for the PS4 along with the X1,it would have sold more units & made more money.

EA realized this fact,so they want to release the sequel for both consoles.

Yes,Titanfall did sell more X1 consoles, but not enough to catch up with the PS4.

I'm more worried that it will end up like Battlefield 4. EA will rush it to release and then say they'll "fix it later".

Everywhere I look on the interwebs I see people complainig about BF4's multiplayer and its hard for me to comment since I've put more than 100 hours into it and have had barely any problems with it! In all I think BF4 is currently the best multiplayer game on the next-gen systems...anyway DICE is busy with Star Wars Battlefront so we might not see another Battlefield game for a while...

Anyways onto Titanfall, it was a derp on EA for making it an excluisve (Its really only single player exclusives that work (Apart from Halo) as multiplayer exclusive will never be able to compete with the Call of Dutys and Battlefields as you maximum audience will be limited)

I would love to give the sequel a try, the amount of time I spend on it depends if its objective focused or K/D focused, I've always cared more for playing the objective rather than being a lone wolf, thats what made me eventually shift from Call of Duty to Battlefield...

I've always been a FPS nut and I'm interested to see what new multiplayer game me and my mates will get into after Battlefield 4 and since Respawn are known for their impact on FPS multiplayer I would love to try out Titanfall 2 if it comes out for PS4

I hope the sequel will have a proper single player campaign it looks like a really cool game but I don't wanna buy something that is pure multiplayer knowing one day it will just be a shelf ornament that can never be used again.

Im already seeing people go back to other shooters after two week of Titanfall's release. So far I've only seen gaming sites post Titanfall gameplay.
