GOW4 should have been at the end of this short conference.

Was that your big complaint? The rest of us are talking about the games...

is it possible to watch a replay of Sony's conference.

I've posted a replay of all of 'em in the opening post! :)

SquareEnix E3 live stream! :P Live right now!

SquareEnix E3 live stream! :P Live right now!

So awkward... It's all scripted, and you can tell. Probably pre-recorded too!

The fun of being in a different time zone... After the Ubi conference I couldn't stay awake any more (not an Ubi dis, for real).

From the Ubi conference, I was amazed by South Park: Fractured Butthole, I might actually enjoy Ghost Recon, and I'm bummed that we didn't get anything about an Assassin's Creed game.

Well, guess I'll catch up on what I missed.

HOLY CRAP, God Of War looks great! Yeah we all saw it coming, what with just about all God Of Wars going on PS+ now, but I expected more of the same. Certainly not an older Kratos (thank you for removing that douche-goatee), a very detailed world and better graphics than expected.

Days Gone: Looks cool, going on my watch list.

Last Guardian: Still kinda interested, going to have to play some before I decide if it's for me.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Already pre-ordered the Collector's Edition when it was revealed last week. Not going to watch a gameplay video, going to let myself be suprised from this point forward.

Detroit: I'll play this at some point for sure but I was really annoyed by Beyond Two Souls where you couldn't fail even if you tried (except for one bit near the end).

Resident Evil: Well, this looks a lot better than the Sims 3 Star Trek VR.

Farpoint: Now this is exactly what I want from VR. I might actually start playing FPS games...

Star Wars Battlefront 2: I was not into this game but VR flying an X-Wing? SPLOOSH!

Batman: Holy Crap this will be amazing. I thought Rocksteady was done with Batman.

Those last three games pretty much ensured I will get VR.

Crash Bandicoot: Never played the originals (except for a wee bit on my brother's PS1 but I didn't like it back then) so the nostalgia is lost on me, might get the remakes though.

Final Fantasy: Not my thing.

COD: Not my thing.

LEGO Star Wars: Yeah I'm getting just about all LEGO games, this one for sure.

Death Stranding: I played two Kojima games: both MGS Vs. I liked Ground Zeroes a lot but with Phantom Pain, the great stealth spy game was ruined by the goofy sci-fi horror and porn. I will definitely not be a day one adopter, I'll wait for some reviews.

Spiderman: Never my favourite super hero but Insomniac creating a SPiderman game might just be the Ultimate Spiderman... pun intended. WIll definitely watch out for this.

All in all, amazing Sony conference. I'm glad I don't have to buy an Assassin's Creed Collector's Edition this year, going to need my money for other stuff.

Yeah, that VR set is practically mine now... Amazeballs.

For a second, I thought Microsoft won E3 until Sony came out and bitch slapped me and told me to never doubt them ever again. I am still not happy with the lack of PSVita games but that is how Western Sony works now but everything else was great. I am really interested with God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Spiderman. Also that Crash Bandicoot trilogy remastered they mention might finally make me play the series for once since I got into Playstation with PS2, so I missed out.

Did you play ICO? If you liked ICO, I suspect you will like The Last Guardian, if you didn't, I doubt it. I'm definitely going to get it! :P

Detroit looked super cheesy, just the way at least I want it to be. Definitely a game I will probably get.

RE7, it seems Capcom finally heard what people want. I think they lost money on RE6. I heard something about someone who worked on Silent Hills (PT) working on this new RE7, and you can tell, and that's freaking awesome! :D I'm usually not into horror games for some strange reason, I think I just get my hear beating too much, and I just end up not wanting to play or something. LOL I like to feel safe and somewhat comfortable when I play, idk. :P Might get it though.

Yeah, I will probably get the LEGO game too. ^^

I've not played the two latest MGS games... o.o' I've played the previous ones though. Especially MGS1-3 are amazing. Goofy sci-fi horror and porn? Always been some few intentional jokes, but that fits so well with a deep plot that takes itself very serious and not serious at the same time. You often have the game trolling you, sometimes breaking the fourth wall. Not sure what you refer to when you say porn. Are you triggered by a women with little clothing or nude or whatever? :S Not used to that? Only used to big masculine men? I don't get this part. :P What we saw from Death Stranding was obviously just a teaser, but it was filled with hints about the game, apparently even Kojima himself wore stuff that that that hinted about the game. :P Hopefully he gets to create a whole new world, something that comes close to MGS. Oh, and you should definitely play MGS1-3!!

I'm unsure what to think about the CB remakes. They are by Activision... An important thing would be to nail the fluid controls of the originals, if they do that, it'll be kinda hard to screw it totally up. I'm kinda sad they won't do Crash Team Racing, but might be as well. I doubt they'd nail it to any kind of satisfactory degree. Crash Bandicoot 1 was kinda rough around the edges, needed a better saving system, but else the game is totally unique and awesome. Crash Bandicoot 2 polished everything up and nailed the formula. Where Crash Bandicoot 3 continued it and added a lot of new stuff. I really hope they won't mess too much with the level layout etc, or how you select levels etc etc.

Final Fantasy XV... well this footage got me more excited about the game again, but they're trying so hard to make it all fluid and you running around etc. I personally don't want to do that stuff, perhaps the biggest turn off about the game. I just hope the story is great, because that could make the game worth it to play, along with it just being as deep as many of the previous games. Allow us to dig in. Pack it with secrets and additional things to do etc. Make it feel more open. I will give the game a chance though. I'm a big fan of FF1-10, especially FF5-9, and some other similar games they've made.

Yeah, Insomniac should definitely be able to pull off Spiderman, and definitely one of the "super heroes" I like the most, even if I'm mainly familiar with him through this series:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112175/

Personally never been too big fan of God of War, even if I got like 5 or something copies of at least one of the games, where one is even a special edition. o.o'''' But this looked a lot better IMO, and who'd have guessed I'd be more excited about the setting? ;p

One thing I did like about what I saw of Horizon Zero Dawn was that it might have a decent amount of RPG elements. I really hope so. if it is just walking around with a lot of robot animals and doing some few story missions, meh, that sounds rather boring to me. I'll personally have to see more of it to be totally sold on it.

Days Gone, not really my thing, but I might get it, same goes for Fairpoint too.

Days Gone, not really my thing, but I might get it, same goes for Fairpoint too.

ICO is still on my 'must play' list, same as Shadow Of The COlossus. I didn't get a PS3 until last year (PS4 two years ago) and I didn't have any of the earlier PlayStations either.

I'm into horror. I'm not easily scared so I try to seek them out. Was reading Stephen King's It when I was fourteen :-)

I liked Until Dawn for making me jumpy. That was its redeeming quality after I got disinterested because of the annoying unlikeable characters.

MGS: With "porn" I mainly mean Quiet. Such shameless use of a female character... slow motion showering, stretching in the chopper, and this:

I'm sorry, I can't describe that as anything but "porn". I liked the serious bits of the games but all this Quiet fetish stuff as well as random sci-fi and horror bits turned me off. It's why I actually got interested in Ghost Recon at the Ubi conference, it had the bits of MGS that I liked and removed that weird Kojima stuff.
I should note that I really never played anything of Kojima before MGS V so I was not prepared for this, certainly after getting a gritty serious Ground Zeroes.
From what I hear, Kojima is usually into degrading female characters but otherwise his style may be very much suited for a horror game.

Feel free to ignore me on this though, I know my strong opinion on Phantom Pain has been cause for hot debating on other forums and I'm prepared to just stop talking about it if it goes south here.

Spiderman: I liked him in Civil War. It's a relatively interesting hero and the constant quipping speaks to me, but I never placed him on any top superhero lists. His powers would be amazing for an open world game though, and that is what most of his games sadly ignore.

God Of War: I'm not a fan either but they do entertain me for as long as I play them. I've canonballed all of them recently (never played them before), when I got to Ascension I was kinda done with it, still need to finish that one. As such, the new one will not be a day one buy for me but I'll definitely play it at some point.

Horizon Zero Dawn: I'm into sandbox games, I'm into fantasy, I'm into sci-fi, I'm into strong female leads, I'm into after-the-end stories... this game seems to have everything going for me.

Days Gone: to be fair, I need to see more of this before I say anything relevant.

Fairpoint: I'm actually more interested in what your opinion is about VR. Will you get it right away, soon, later, not at all, maybe? I was still in doubt myself but getting a Rocksteady Batman right away flipped me over to the "sooner would be better" team. Add an Ace Combat, sitting in an X-Wing, and some more titles that look a lot better than Star Trek Bridge Crew (with Sims 3 graphics) or a cartoony Paris...

From my experience, this is complete bullshit. :P I can't even think about any "porn" character in any of the previous games. Of course, I might forget something.

You can't have a female character that is overly sexualized? That's kinda her personality, but I guess it is not okay she has that kind of personality or something? I also don't get what the problem with you feeling it is "porn"? You don't watch porn? The two must not mix? =P What?

Anyway, it would just be her personality I think. The thing is, each of the "bosses" in the MGS games usually have quite the eccentric personalities. You definitely should play more of his games! :) They're fucking awesome.

Prepared? I think you've been prepared to think it was something other than what it actually was. :P

I think for most people it is just a joke and a fun character, not something to jack off to or something. xD

Well, Sony won E3 (not that hard actually...) but... pretty meh conference.

Less VR stuff I expected (though, they did put some interesting ones) so that's a plus but overall... mediocre.

Apart from the shock of TLG release date, nothing actually made me that excited.

On the other hand, GR trailer :awesome:

Horizon Zero Dawn, I'm glad the game seems to play like an RPG! :)

Then some more footage from Detroit, and it looks as cheesy as we knew they could do it!

RPG? It's an interactive movie again...

Or have you seen something else?

I hope by remastered he means remake.

On Port Station? No way. It will be remaster to the core.

Kojima, you sexy BEAASST!!!  xD

He failed to step on the last few white tiles, though :awesome:

But damn, dat Enrigsh :awesome:

RE7 (if not VR only)

Only playable with VR, not VR-exclusive.

If you're into 3D puzzle platformers, then ICO is a great game. Pretty short, but a great experience.

Shadow of the Colossus... even better! Basically giant world you ride around in, and no normal enemies. Some secrets etc, but mostly just these 16 bosses you ride over to and defeat. The 16 bosses are massive giants of different kinds, and you usually gotta figure out a way to take them down, which you do by finding ways to climb them and attack their weak spots. It mixes 3d puzzle platformer with action. You really are this one little weak guy, really taking down these giant beasts to epic music and a beautiful landscape etc. :D Not that long game, but longer than ICO. Definitely worth playing, and there's a good chance you may like this one even if you don't like ICO.

Well it's only what I heard, From what I heard Kojima's female characters tend to be big boobed and small brained.

As said, I know that my opinion is a long way from the median, so I'm prepared to let it rest, but I can explain if you want.

I think it's demeaning of Kojima to think this is how I'd want to see a female character behave. I got MGS for the stealth gameplay, not to see some bimbo roll around in her bikini. Or why, when Skull snipers are introduced, they need to focus on their breasts first and their asses afterwards:

https://youtu.be/WUh9WqgIgGw?t=1

As said before, I never played a Kojima game before Ground Zeroes so it's likely that I "just don't get it". I thought it was weird to assume that I'd want this kind of stuff in a stealth game, but apparently MGS has never ever been 'just' a stealth game.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I would find Shadow Of The Colossus amazing. They are both absolutely on my "some day..." list of games I still need to get. I was actually thinking about getting a 7 day trial of PS Now and using it just for those two games.

If I recall correctly, there would be a new PS4 on which the VR set could run without adding more power, like the set needs to do for the normal PS4, so being interested in VR would be the perfect time to get a new PS4 :-)

I wanted to wait at first with getting new gen. Then AC Unity was revealed to be new gen only, and I couldn't stay behind with one of my favourite series... If that wouldn't have done the trick, Arkham Knight would have.

This is certainly not true. Usually, you have a dorky dude and a smart woman, jokes about the player being a perv if they do something pervy in the game. ;p This is just more of a joke, like the big masculine dumb brute cliche... Just to prove you wrong, I will give you MGS2 as an example, MGS1 and MGS3 has even less of this stuff.

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Category:MGS2_Characters

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Sunny_Emmerich

Child prodigy in computer programming, probably the main female character in that game.

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Emma_Emmerich

^ Engineer of an AI system

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Fortune

^ Goes around with a rail-gun... a leading member of a Navy SEAL anti terrorist unit. Seemingly super natural powers etc. She's the only one who looks any "sexualized" AFAIK, and it's her preference in clothing, which has likely to do with her skills too.

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Olga_Gurlukovich

^ That character is more of a joke character, goes by code names like "Mr. X", "Cyborg Ninja" and "Deepthroat" lol, but there's tons of male characters that is like this as well.

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Jennifer_(hostage)

^ Just one of the hostages...

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Julie_Danziger

^ Tragic backstory character, where she has an affair with step son and father commits suicide.

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Karen_Hojo

^ A news reporter

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Mei_Ling

^ One of the more main characters, data analyst, and will happily give you a lot of Chinese proverbs and whatnot. :P She's a captain btw.

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Nastasha_Romanenko

^ Memeber of nuclear emergency search team, assists you a couple of times over radio communication in the game.

Trophy:

"To Catch a Predator

Lure a guard with a girlie magazine"

"Snake Beater

Get caught by Otacon stimulating yourself"

^ That trophy is for looking at certain pictures in a locker. Otacon is more like the dorky nerd dude IIRC. xD

Yeah... :P It is just typical Japanese humor.

As said before, I never played a Kojima game before Ground Zeroes so it's likely that I "just don't get it". I thought it was weird to assume that I'd want this kind of stuff in a stealth game, but apparently MGS has never ever been 'just' a stealth game.

Just a stealth game? Not sure I follow. The plots are usually pretty ... intricate and maybe overly complicated, but he has created a very deep and interesting world that is definitely worth exploring. :)

I may have judged too soon then. Let's just leave it at my sense of humour, irony and fourth-wall breaking is different from Kojima's. Doesn't even matter for this thread anyway, I only mentioned my experience with Phantom Pain as to why I was not ready to jump at the smallest bit of a new Kojima game, I think there's much more interesting stuff going on at E3.

I'll tell you what: if Death Stranding manages to be awesome in my own opinion, I'll give Kojima the benefit of the doubt and I'll the older MGS games a shot.

Most revealed games have their own thread now, not so for the VR titles... am I the only one interested in them? Anyone can make these threads, right? I created a thread for Batman, hope I did this correctly, first time I'm starting a "news" item.

Both Sony and MS has said that all games will work on both new consoles and old, so not really a new gen.

You should do yourself the favor and play the old games anyways, especially MGS1-3. Chances are, you'll love it, no matter what you think about Phantom Pain, which I know many didn't think went deep enough with the story, as deep as it seemed Kojima really wanted. xD

How do you mean, not really a new gen?

I meant that games like Unity and Arkham Knight would not be available for PS3 (or X360, which I had at the time). As far as I know, this is still true.

I might take on MGS earlier but first point of business will be reducing the games I already have in my backlog:

http://psnprofiles.com/forums/topic/38230-billyhorribles-backlog-bit/

I try not to buy too many games, I have a problem that way. My trophy lifespan will be longer and more fun if I restrict my purchases. So MGS will go on the "someday" pile, but the games I already have will go first, as well as games I want to buy first, like the aforementioned ICO and Colossus.
