Summer lesson PSVR Part 2, 3 and 4.

Recommended Posts

I still have no clue about what to think of this game but after actually playing a bit with VR, I can say this: games that don't need you to look to the far horizon have an advantage since you'll notice the resolution cap less. So that's a good thing for Summer Lesson.

Then you walk into her room one day, and she's in the corner, become some monstrosity out of a nightmare. Or you're studying, take a drink from a glass nearby, then wake up hours later tied down to the bed, and she's sawing your foot off with a length of piano wire.

Wonder how many people are going to buy this thinking the study buddy part is the innocent introduction to a first person horror game that never, but should, come later.

"Living with a small Japanese girl" has a new meaning after that.

So from what I got from that, you're her teacher? Man this game is fucked up.  This will never see the light of day outside Japan.. although I suspect PQube would try localizing it.

And yea, these games can have pretty messed up endings, I'll like to see what way the bad route goes.

I'm not watching the video but the title is "living with a small Japanese girl"...yup that is basically what VR is all about. It will have a couple of real games and then it will become a tool for people to live out their creepy fantasies.

Define "real" game. Is this not one because it's "living with a small Japanese girl" or are relaxing fantasy simulation games in general not "real" games? If the latter; is How We Soar a real game? Is Flower?

Personally, I think relaxing games is where VR can shine. How We Soar felt amazing, I'd love for more "just walk and be amazed by what's around you" games to be produced. I'd love Ethan Carter in VR, or Flower, or Unravel. I think No Man's Sky would be instantly saved if it gained VR compatibility.

I love my big action games (for VR, I'm mostly looking forward to X-Wing and to Ace Combat in that category) but I also love the unique little games, many of which will grow to a whole new level in VR. I always think it's weird when someone calls such a game not a "real" game nust because it's less demanding of the player's skill, or when someone calls a niche game not a "real" game because it appeals to a small subset of gamers.

Sorry i am in a rush as i am going out so i will read all of the replies when i get back.

I have given Summer lesson much thought and i cannot seem to understand why the Japanese would need to release a Japanese game in Japan teaching people how to learn Japanese?

Is it possible that there are 2 versions of this game, 1 for the west and 1 for the east??

Because certainly we have seen the American girl who wants to learn Japanese in some of the clips, maybe she is the main character in a western release???

I just cannot understand why the Japanese teenager would be teaching Japanese to Japanese natives unless the target audience was under 5's. which I very much doubt it is.

That's because it's mainly a game for fantasies in Japan.. Also, she is referring to you as her teacher, so maybe her Japanese isn't any good? There's people in English countries that can't correctly use English, so it could be something like that.

I highly doubt this will come out in the west tbh with you.

Interesting replies, this is deffo a pervs wet dream, although (and I don't expect anyone to believe this) but it's all about the game play for me ;)

I like the idea of a 'twist' where you turn around to pick up a text book and then get a pencil stabbed in your ear... then a biohazard type scenario ensues but with a twist, instead of being hunted by zombies we have become the zombie... let the hunt begin.

Seriously now, I get that we would be the sensei in regards to the American girl and this would be believable, but less so if it was us teaching a Japanese school girl a lesson (stop it) then it seems a bit far fetched and weird as you would expect her to at least know basic grammar and as a minimum 500 kanji !

But with this being a Japanese game it could end up taking any direction it wanted to, and we lucky souls get to experience that four times over !!

WTFJapan.

Any info about other parts, this was in TGS conference so... something new plzzz .D

At 0:50, who the fuck is she talking to? Especially since it's your POV. I have no sound, so I imagine it to be the fell elder god she's in service to, who is visible in the corner of the room only when your back is turned.

She's saying it. She's removing something from player's shoulder/hair, therefore, she is concentrating on the object and says to not move ;)

The big difference between Flower and a relaxing sim for the VR is Flower can be bought for like 10$ on PSN...you don't need to buy a 300-400$ accessory to play it.

If there aren't real games coming out for VR that NEED VR to play it will die out. The Move was a great Peripheral but its best games could still be played with the dual shock and the Move Only games that were of any quality were so few and far between the thing died out.

If all VR has is creepy anime porn for Weebos...then it will die out. If you think I am being harsh let me ask you this..."what do you think people who buy a game where they get to live with a little japanese girl are buying it for?" Is it for the rich experience of being a father...or is it because most characters in Anime caters to a certain type of crowd.

Let me remind you I have nothing against Anime...just how old does the oldest girl look in this picture?

There's already weird Japanese stuff out there, I say with confidence having just played Amnesia. I don't get the appeal of this game but I know there's enough other games coming to prevent VR from being another Japan-only Vita fest. I think JG and Satoshi prove there's a market for this stuff even if we find it weird.

I still don't know what you mean by "real" game. I know you don't need VR for Flower but is it a real game in your eyes? What's a real game and what's not?

Personally, though I don't get the appeal of every game I think it's good that the initial PSVR line-up shows such variety, it's trying to create at least one game for everybody to want to play on VR. For me, it's How We Soar and X-Wing first and foremost, though my full wishlist is much bigger. Of HWS, I didn't even know I wanted it until I tried it, I had seen the trailer but hadn't given it any serious thought until I got to try the demo. Experiencing PSVR is very weird, the difference between playing it and watching it becomes much larger than with regular games.

P.S. if you want to see a PSVR game that's actually bad and not just weird, look no further than Bebylon.

Ahhh, the classic "anime fans are paedophiles" argument. I love it. Look, I don't expect everyone to understand. it's not "normal" I guess. Whatever that means... But it would be great if you didn't judge people just because they like something you don't. You say that you have nothing against anime, but it doesn't sound like that to me.

There's a very big difference between a drawing and the real thing. I'd just like to stress that.

Liking young girls in scantily clad outfits isn't normal. You know who else judges people based on that...judges. I know that Anime and Kiddie porn are technically different things but you can't think it is normal to ogle a bunch of pre-teen girls as they feel each other up in barely any clothing.

I don't give a shit if you watch it for the story or humour or whatever...you are supporting an art form that idolizes young girls and that is just wrong.

Listen I watched Anime. I own every Dragonball box set and quite a few Miyazaki films. Grave of the Fireflies is in my top 10 favourite films of all time. Hell I have Chie as part of my Trinity of Green...but I am sorry 99% of Anime is very very creepy and I just can't support it.

Each to their own, one of the biggest books and tv series at this time is game of thrones yet in this we have rape, incest, blood, murder and the list goes on but this is seen as fine by most of the public and it is taking place to real life actors to be make it look real as possible.

Yet a show that is an animation with females that might be drawn as under developed is classed as bad... yep... ok... that is perfect logic but again each to their own.

Back on topic for the game, I will give this a go like many other VR games. But my gaming tastes have almost moved me away from AAA games these days so I might even enjoy this. But I am also getting the idolm@ster and Miku VR games as well.

I am also a supporter of the VR system I tried a beta version last year and enjoyed it, I am not expecting to see too many big titles that will have a main focus for VR but a lot of developers are talking about having VR functions as a secondary option to a lot of games.

I'll just say this: As long as you're not hurting anyone, you should do what makes you happy. If playing this game does that for you, who is anyone to judge? Maybe it's a "creepy fantasy" to you, and that's fine, but there's no need to talk people down for that. It's not real, right? Why should it bother you?
