Anybody with a Jak II platinum?

49 posts in this topic

I just completed the first one with a platinum and would like to do so for the remaining 2.

So, how hard is Jak II compared to the first one, and is it "possible"? (everything is possible, but it has to be fun for me to bother).

Loved Jak II

But some parts can be very annoyingly frustrating

:hmm: jak 2 is the most frustrating game i've played, but it's a cool story, so don't skip it.      the third is alot easier

Jak 2 has some of the most rage-quit worthy levels in history of gaming, compared to the first one, this one is a living hell.

Jak 2 is the hardest jak, some parts feel broken, and the checkpoints will make you rage, but it is also the best jak, go for it man, jak 1 sucks compared to 2 and 3.

Skipping Jak II is not an option, but as you can see platinums are not what I usually do. I guess I will on this one, since you claim its horribly frustrating. Feels more like an achievement when it hurts :)

I have played Jak II several times while on the PS2, and looking at the trophy list, it doesn't seem like a hard platinum apart from finding the orbs.  If you don't care about the platinum,  don't get it, but you will still get a decent amount of trophies from this game anyways since most of it is story based.

If you do the orb loop hole then you can get the plat with ease.

There are extreme, and random difficulty spikes, but Jak 2 is the best one in the series. The story is great and the boss fights are fun as hell. Just be prepared for practically no checkpoints..

A lot of people say it's hard as fuck, but I don't remember it being all that hard. I'd imagine doing all the orbs legit would be extremely difficult, though. I thought it was way better than the first one. Still need to plat the third one, myself.

It's very easy. Most people just have a gripe with the checkpoint system, but I'm guessing they died or something glitched. So, in other words, don't die.

DEAR LORD THIS IS A HARD GAME! Those damn checkpoint stations are FAR in between levels or nonexistent! I think i'm gonna cheat the orb achievement because of how ridiculously hard and time consuming it is.

Jak 2 is pretty tough especially legit.

But in my opinion Jak 1 is the best of the series as I love 3d platformers :)

done the game in 13 hours. i played 1 hour at the start then 12 hours today to get it done. very easy game just the check points what are really annoying as you have to do most of the level again. so i have now done jak 1 and 2. plan is to get the 3rd one done by monday evening.

I had absolutely no problem with Jak 2.  I played it, enjoyed it, and platinumed it. That's  it.

i dont remember having all too much trouble with it but it was some time ago and i did use the orb glitch so i didnt have to find everyone. it is also the hardest of the three. if you can get it 3 would be a nice cool down.

If you use the orb glitch, the Platinum for Jak II is really easy. I wouldn't even bother trying without the orb glitch, though.

I have it. Pretty easy, the story missions might be hard for you if you're a newcomer to the series.

Other than that, there's the Precursor Obs trophies, you can just use a pretty easy glitch to collect them all, just seacrh it on YT.

ugh! >_< Jak 2 was my least favorite in the series.... i don't count lost frontier that game is messed up, i never tried the HD version of jak 2 yet, but i still have all the ps2 versions.

in jak 2 the checkpoints are broken, the red armor soldier will start to hunt you down & kills you if they just saw you riding the hover board in the city, the escort mission is so frustrating!

and there's the shooting gallery which is the reason why i never 100% the game back in the ps2 era, and boy i never forget the missions where you need to collect some sort of a keys at the flooded part of the city and then an army of soldier will come to hunt you down even if you planned to use the hover board to cross the water a flying robot will come and shot you dead, i already plated jak & daxter but if i going to buy the others i'll get jak 3 first.

Jak II is pretty easy if your willing to do the orb glitch which there's a hundred way to do it at different parts. But just have fun with the game and don't stress out mate :D

Proud Jak II platinum owner here :D Hmm, i would say Jak II is the hardest game of the trilogy but the game itself is managable.

That ambush part in the wooden platform dock area sucked.

If you want to get every orb legit, you're looking at an extremely long and hard challenge (stadium hoverboard challenges are brutal), use the orb glitch and the only challenge is game's story missions.

I did this plat legit, no orb glitch and  it's only half of the races that were really frustrating. Doing them in reverse was pretty easy and everything else wasn't bad  to me. Still pretty tough plat only because of those races but there are much harder plats than Jak II.

Let's correct a few inconsistencies here-

Jak II is a "tough" Platinum, period. You don't rate Platinums on exploits and glitches (such as the non-legit orb glitch), or use the logic of multiple trophies needing to be difficult in order for a Platinum trophy to be hard or challenging. The hardest trophy in the game requires you to do multiple different difficult challenges, therefore making the Platinum tough. It's not like this same trophy only requires you to do one task only. In addition, since the game itself is overall difficult, especially for newcomers who didn't have the PS2 version, and requires some strategy and practice at times, which includes dying to become knowledgeable on parts to pass them, that makes the story related trophies hard as well. Any experience from the first game will be irrelevant to your progression in this game, as the level of difficult sky rocketed in the sequel, Jak II.. whether the checkpoints are poorly placed, broken, or too far off each other. (This is all coming from a guy who platinumed the game twice WITHOUT the orb glitch btw.)

Lastly, Jak 3 is the best game in the series actually. Installments in a series with better story =/= best game in series. Jak II had the best content-story, while Jak 3 was factually the better overall game, therefore Jak 3 is the best.

Honestly, I've played it back on the PS2 days and played the hell out of it. When I picked up the HD collection and played Jak II, it came easy to me and I greatly enjoyed the feeling of  nostalgia. Seeing that plat ding gave a sense of achievement that I can finally show some of my achievements from the old PS2 games.
