MattbluePT
@Ellie-nyan the badges are amazing, great job! @Beyondthegrave07 thank you for hosting this event, been a while since I participated in one here, and this cause made me come back to this. As my girlfriend was recently diagnosed with a depression, I realize from a different point of view the importance it has that people are aware of meant health problems. I'll be attentive to the next event hosted by you! Thank you both for the amazing job!
Popular Post Im2Fast_4U
First and foremost, massive shoutout to @Beyondthegrave07 for putting on a brand new, unique, chill, and important event. I had a lot of fun engaging with this event, and loved the low pressure and great cause this was for. Also to @Ellie-nyan, the badges are beautiful and am very happy to flaunt off your work for now and the future, you did an incredible job with them!!! If you said "yes" to the first question, what are some ideas for similar events you'd like to see? Here are some ideas I've been playing around with. Have an event around Christmas to donate money to a nearby homeless shelter, toys for tots, other charitable foundations Perhaps maybe one for a donation to an animal shelter? (I would really need help fleshing this one out, lol) Cancer or other diseases? 1. Yes, I would love more events on PSNP like this. This was a relaxing event, was for a good cause and didn't require a ton of effort, just great to play a game, learn, share, all for a good cause. I thought it was great for community building, and I hope similar events of a similar degree of commitment level (i.e. don't need to play a billion games in a month) continue long into the future here. Having a targeted theme of content discussed in the games we use in the event was a great idea, and writing a simple explanation of how it fit into it and what you learned/how it emotionally impacted you was very nice, and would also like to see this continue moving forward. I will offer my suggestions in 3. accordingly. 2. I think 1-2 games a month for this type of event is the perfect amount, and definitely would not want this changed. I think the bonus badge idea was good, but I think moving forward an approach similar to the Gaming by the Numbers event could be more appropriate (and easier for badge artists potentially) if there is a single badge design and then the appearance is modified based on the tier of success. For example, completing one game during this event would've netted a badge with one ribbon, and completing two would've been a badge with two ribbons, but otherwise have the same base design (and total # of ribbons could have been the factor for donation amount). I say this fully knowing I loved both badges this go around and don't know if this entirely makes sense, but its a thought I had and wanted to share. 3. I think the Christmas season for any and all of the charities listed would be wonderful! Having the theme be games that involve giving or take place during the holidays are early ideas for that, but there's lots of directions to go with it (games with snowy pine trees anyone? lolol). October for cancer awareness seems like a natural fit for this, and I would happily participate given that my mother had breast cancer some 8 years ago (and fully in remission for years thankfully!). Other ideas for events of a similar nature I've provided below in a somewhat more concise format, and would love to help out with planning these in the future or providing added feedback with newer updates! Steven Spohn's charity AbleGamers would be great. I don't think this would have to be bound to a specific time period in the year, but would be really nice to game in support of other gamers Alzheimer's Awareness month is June, and is a cause that has touched my life personally with my grandmother in her last few years of life, and another one I think that could be great. There seem to be plenty of games that revolve around memory even, might be something there. ALS Awareness as a baseball fan is something I am always reminded of, but don't have any ideas beyond just stating this Not necessarily for charity but a community building idea: around Valentine's Day, I know a lot of singles can feel lonely around this time, and it could be neat to promote some form of playing games together event? I have experience with organizing a matching event for singles at my college this past year, where some questions on a short survey netted you a compatible party to match with and engage with and see where things go. I could definitely see something like that working here as well, where whoever someone matched with you played a co-op game together and maybe something else develops if both people wanted. It could be great for the singles in the community to find fellow single gamers, or people just looking for friends to play or chat with regularly as well! Again, I want to reiterate how wonderful of an event this was, and I feel it has given me a much greater appreciation for this community, how to think about the games I play more, and look forward to engaging with the community in the future!!!
Cerlayjux
Fantastic looking badges. I enjoyed this event and reading a lot of what people here had to say.

I have mental illness(severe autism that makes me unwilling to do anything physical active) so having charity events is always good. 2: I am dry on ideas on improving this event. It's very simple and easy to read so I doubt anything I could say would improve on it. 3: Summer Games Done Quick 2021 Online is coming up in July, where people speedrun games for charity(namely, Doctors Without Borders, a global medical organization that helps third-world countries who cannot afford normal medical care). I'd like to see an event where we flood that event with donations with messages declaring that PSNProfiles.com supports Summer Games Done Quick so we can get at least one of our donations read on the stream. Maybe have an event where you have to platinum a game with a speedrun trophy since the organzation, Games Done Quick, is all speedrunning. Of course, any of your suggestions is fully approved by me. I adopted my current pet from a cat shelter as a kitten, I always try to ensure that the poor have a happy holidays, and helping the medical community is always great. (Games Done Quick has a January event called Awesome Games Done Quick that supports the Prevent Cancer Foundation.) Shame I missed this event. I would have played Persona 5 Royal for a badge. As for the questions: 1) Yes 2) I think it was done pretty much perfectly as-is! 3) Would love to see one for an animal charity of some kind, and would also love to see one (not this year because we’re already in the middle of it) for Pride Month benifiting an LGBTQ+ charity. I’ve seen several other great ideas here too!
Zanreo
Love the badges, thanks @Ellie-nyan! And thanks to @Beyondthegrave07 for hosting this event! Playing games for a good cause in a unique and relaxed event like this, alongside the community here, was a great idea, and I'd love to see similar events in the future!
Popular Post Hisuiryu
First of all, a big thanks to @Beyondthegrave07 for putting this event together, and to @Ellie-nyan for the badges, they look fantastic! Proof of my donation is below - and with gift aid on top (basically the charity can claim back the income tax I paid) in total they get £112.50 ? For anyone interested, you can find out more about Mind and the work they do in the UK from their website. A lot of their recent focus is around mental health issues caused by lockdown and isolation, as well as anxiety surrounding the easing of restrictions. Spoiler And for the questions - Would you like to see more events on PSNP like this? Absolutely, seeing the amount of support this got (as well as the UR cleanup event!), using our hobby to raise money for good causes can only be a good thing! What are ways we could improve this event next year (assuming I run it)? TBH, I'm happy with this event as is, it's inclusive (complete a game or 2, talk about it - most people can manage that!) which just increases the amount of people that can participate, which in turn helps with both the awareness and fundraising aspects On that front, you mentioned somewhere about doing a competitive style even, and while I enjoy them I think it's better to keep the event format in a way that won't put people off participating (fear of "doing badly" or something), but I can see that idea working for something like the bonus badge, like as an additional part of the event while the core of it could still be more casual. If you said "yes" to the first question, what are some ideas for similar events you'd like to see? Here are some ideas I've been playing around with. Honestly I like all the ideas. Mental health would still probably be the one that means the most to me personally, but having a variety of fund-raising type events means people could use it to donate to whatever causes they are most passionate about! I think animals always tends to be popular among people, and I also like the idea some others mentioned of charities that support LGBT and other marginalised groups. Popular Post oxford_wolf007
Thanks so much for setting this event up, @Beyondthegrave07! The badges are beautiful, @Ellie-nyan! I really enjoyed reading everyone’s stories and write-ups throughout the month. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which mental health association I wanted to donate to. I live in a very liberal area/college town, so I know that, while all non-for-profits are struggling right now because of COVID, my local mental health association(s) are probably not doing as poorly as my hometown. I grew up in a pretty conservative country town, where mental health was never much of a priority. There were only two local (ish) MH organizations that I could find. One covers my area more directly, so I am donating to my home county's Mental Health America (MHA). Also, I rounded it up to an even $100 (I hope this works): As for the questions 1) Yes, it was fun! It made a great impression for my first event on here (after lurking for years...). Although I'm not sure I would donate to every single one, this time I had the extra money so I was happy to make the extra effort! 2) I enjoyed the way it was run, not sure if it needs to change. A game or two and discussion to a specific point, no limitations on too easy or too difficult, and it gives us a good amount of time to complete it. A competitive event I probably wouldn't do, but if you organized it as a team of 2, maybe where one person provides a list of games they have that they think would fulfill the event, and another person selects a game for that person to complete (and vice versa), it might work. You could also do it as the 'extra' challenge. 3) For other events...hmmm. I have thought about paying off someone's Christmas layaway gifts, but I don't know how easy/difficult implementing something like that would be. Something for LGBT or a Thanksgiving thing would be fun too. Maybe instead of a monetary donation, a community service (like donating time to a soup kitchen/outreach event) based on the number of games completed for the event as a bonus type thing?
MissShake
Sorry for my silence most of the event, I'm in the last legs of school so I've been focusing on that and work. The badges are beautiful and I'm thankful to have been part of such a great event for such a good cause~
MissShake
I've been thinking more about events like this that I think would be a good idea, and I think that an event that revolves around a charity that goes to ocean conservation might be a great idea. It would be a perfect summer event, maybe the participants could play games that include a beach or the ocean itself (Subnautica being the obvious choice), and with the state of the oceans being as it is I think something related to conservation of them would definitely be something I would participate in
Popular Post Beyondthegrave07
I'm going to go ahead and lock this now. I think I will do an event in October/November for Cancer awareness. I think I'll find a way to remove the limit on the amount to be donated (one badge, but a bonus task that you can work on indefinitely), but I will have it in a pretty chill format like this. If you have ideas for events like this or have an idea of how I can set up this next one, shoot me a PM, and at worst, I'll say no. I plan on doing the same thing for this event next year, but I may increase the opportunities to donate (I'll use use the next one as a test). Thanks again to everyone who participated or anyone who just simply read through this thread. If you haven't yet, please do! You'll read a lot of inspiring stories and will really open your eyes to why mental health is so important..
