Alan Wake Remastered - The Signal & The Writer

 

That is two more DLC in the bag. Included for free with the remaster these two DLC take place after the events of the game. Wake is stuck in the dark place and is trying to find a way out. Basically this just boils down to the devs having an excuse to remix level assets used in the main game into new and surreal layouts. Nothing really significant plot wise in either one.

 

The Signal is combat heavy, and has some of the toughest encounters in the game. The Writer is significantly easier in comparison. Both feature some pretty unique sections compared to the main game, such as a section where you need to avoid using your light to prevent more enemy spawns, and a section in a giant rotating wheel.

 

Both DLC's also have a trophy where you need to clear the DLC in one sitting without dying or restarting any checkpoints. While I managed both of them on my first attempt of the trophies they were very stressful and had several close calls. Otherwise the trophies are just for completing them, getting collectibles, and a few other misc tasks.

 

Overall they don't really add anything to the experience that seems worth while. They can definitely be skipped for most people.

Went back to clean up a few DLC packs with Minecraft Set 2 and Firewatch, I enjoyed going back and replaying Firewatch after my save file got wiped. Hadn't played it for a few years anyway so it felt pretty fresh!

 

Also I've been blasting my way through Rise of the Tomb Raider and it's colossal number of trophies (125). Just have another 10 to do with Endurance and Endurance co-op, which I'll get done next weekend I think! I really enjoyed the DLC in this one so far, especially Baba Yaga and Croft Manor, they're my favourite so far of the free DLC. I'm going to take a bit of a break from Tomb Raider before I do Shadow of the Tomb Raider which has a lot of DLC I need to clean up.

Oh yeah.. I fully expected it to be broken at some point. I'll modify it when I get a few minutes to tinker with it. 

 

Your last update reminds me I need to go back and finish up the rest of the Death Mode runs I have left in Sound Shapes. Some of them were pretty annoying.

Oh some of those Death Mode runs are 100% RNG!!! You just gotta keep trying until you get a good run with the nodes close to one another.. Looking at you Galaxanoids ?

I guess we already shot out ammo in the last event ? you won last year so maybe it is time for a new Champion?

 

But last year was only 3 months and you were able to finish 55 stacks so maybe you will have a Comeback?!

I wouldn't mind a new champion, everyone deserves to experience it ? And the special badge that comes with gives you some bragging rights.

Overall a very good DLC. I liked Rose and her powers. The setting kinda reminded me Bloodborne Old Hunters DLC. Because both places are some kind of sick distortions of the usual setting.

So i made some progress in my DLCs. I always wanted to play Dead Cells and now i took the time for the game and completed all 9 DLC stacks. A really good Rouge like game, if you are interested in the Genre you should play the game. 

 

In addition I finish one dlc stack in monster hunter rise. It was a bummer that Monster Hunter Sunbreak were only DLC stacks but well I play them anyways. If you like Monster Hunter then you will get more of the things you likw with the DLC!

 

So i can add a total of 10 stacks to my count.
