The Winters’ Expansion from RE Village was solid. Nothing too extraordinary, but it was a good conclusion to the Winters’ arc. Although they could have explained more of what happened to Mia since she did play a big part in the story too. There is an option to play in 3rd person if you wanted a break from 1st person, or if you just appreciate more being able to see who you’re controlling.

 

I really enjoyed Horizon Forbidden West but this trend of New Game+ trophies getting added to AAA games soon after the initial trophy list needs to stop lol. Especially when I rather get everything done and not have to worry about coming back to the game later whenever I can, unless there’s actual new content, like an extended story arc or something. Nothing much to say here since I’ve already talked about my positive experience with HFW in the Platinum Challenge thread. 

 

Each of Black Ops 3’s DLC packs are different maps and expansions to the Primis group storyline. Zombies Chronicles maps were all entries from Black Ops 1 and 2. If you’ve never played Zombies in a Call of Duty game, they’re pretty similar to raids, like the ones in The Division 2, Destiny 2, Ghost of Tsushima, etc. You and your team (most maps can also be done solo) have this list of not-so-obvious tasks to do and there is no hand-holding here whatsoever. Like in almost every game with an objective there is some kind of notification on what you must do and a quest marker on where to go, and these two things are constantly updated as a guide towards your goal. In Zombies you don’t have these two things…at all. Raids are pretty similar and in the The Division 2’s and the Ghost of Tsushima’s Raid Modes, there are sections of the map that involve puzzle-like tasks. You and your group are on your own here too to figure out on how and what to do. To me, Zombies reminds me of raids but with 10x more to do when it comes to the amount of tasks, namely the Easter Egg. While I guess that it’s technically possible to figure out the long grocery list of things to do to fully solve an Easter Egg on your own, and with such HUGE maps and with LOTS of possible interactables, and with very obscure steps that don’t make any sense whatsoever it makes you wonder HOW the first successful people did figure this out. When going for the EE this could be annoying since it’s practically guaranteed that you will have to watch a video first (or while you play) instead of just playing it normally without any aid. From what I’ve read is that it is possible to read into a game’s code and be able to figure it all out from there. If this is true, then this all would make a lot of sense. This also wouldn’t be surprising if this is the case for finding all the hidden collectibles in any other game that has them. Overall, the DLCs were fun, but are huge time-sinkers with each attempt of the EE since many of them could take about 2-4 hours in one sitting, depending if you’re attempting it in solo or co-op and how experienced you and your group are with that particular map. Also, because checkpoints are non-existent.

 

Fortunately, the Black Ops 4 Classified DLC’s one Easter Egg trophy doesn’t require you to do all or even most of the Easter Egg, so I was able to get this trophy and the other miscellaneous trophies out of the way easily. I’ve been playing a lot of Zombies quite a bit not too long ago so I was starting to get a little sick of it lol. I’ll be returning to BO4 later.

Man not a bad list, i know myself how daunting the Resident Evil DLCs can be. Those took me several hours to complete multiple tries on those special modes.

Sooo...... I think it's pretty ironic that this event is one of the things that ended up catapulting me into going on a big backlog cleaning binge..... Yet, I haven't posted an update in here for quite some time.... So let's change that. I'm kind of on a Mafia binge, played the first one (PS4 remake) not too long ago, now part 2 and got the final entry planned for real soon (which has DLC packs too, woot).

Mafia was excellent and Mafia II was great as well but I'd say the DLCs you can take 'em or leave 'em. There's another DLC (I believe it is, I have the Greatest Hits version which comes with everything on disc), The Betrayal of Jimmy which is the prequel to Jimmy's Vendetta but it's not necessary to play (I still did) and no trophies.

So let's get right to Jimmy's Vendetta. I thought the character didn't really fit into the game and instead of having chapters it's just 5-min short missions. While it was still fun (and here comes the kicker), a couple of the trophies are just mind numbingly grindy for no reason, like driving 1000 miles and killing 1000 enemies. In the entire DLC you only drive about 100 miles and kill 400 enemies with nothing else left to do after that. This DLC deserves more of a pass unless you just want the trophies.

Now onto Joe's Adventure, it's a mix between the base game and Jimmy's Vendetta missions-wise. Joe is your buddy in the story and this DLC is about his adventures while you were "away". I didn't think it added much but it was fun and no frustrating trophies in this one.

No you don't need any progress in the main game. The DLCs are accessed from the main menu and it creates a separate save and nothing is shared between them.

I just tested it on my alt that has no progress and I could jump right in, just to make sure.

I finally got another DLC pack finished. This one is the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC from Borderlands 3, which I have been working on wrapping up the 100%

Adding another two DLC packs. I finally got the last trophy in Frobisher Says! last week, despite the game doing its best to not use the required minigame as much as possible. Also finally drew a troop in Gems of War that could create Uber Doomskulls, so I finished another pack in that game (of course, there's more packs now...)
