I'm pretty much done with my games for the challenge now, managing to knock out Dredge and Wolfenstein: The New Order since my last update. I had a great time with both of these games. Dredge may actually be my GOTY for this year so far, it was such a strange and atmospheric game for something that was so simple.

 

I don't think i'll add anymore games for the next week or two and just chill a bit on the progress front. I'm messing around with Castlevania Requiem at the moment and catching up on some TV shows i'm behind on.

Unfortunately, it developed when I was eight and kept having nightmares. The pillow over my head was sort of like a helmet that protected me from the bad dreams and I am not comfortable sleeping any other way except on my side.

I do this when I have migraines and need to blot out noise and light. I find the coolness of the pillow and the gentle pressure to be soothing also. Oddly I find it easier to breathe (like I have a respirator mask or something). Usually I sleep on my front or side due to my totally rational fear of spiders dropping onto my face when I'm sleeping (it just takes one back experience to develop a weird 'thing') but with a pillow over my head I can sleep on my back like a weirdo.

I finished Mark of the Assassin, making sure to back up my saves in case there was a problem. Also finished the main game up to the final mission. Thankfully Supplier dinged when it was supposed to. Held my breath until it did. Hopefully I have time to finish this Friday, but if not, Saturday for sure. Been a hell of a ride! After this, some decisions have to be made.

Apparently more to update on than I thought I did as I forgot to do one for the last completion!

 

Finished Mafia off, fairly straightforward after that stupid race!! Not much to be said that hasn't been. It is clunky but great story.

 

Made some progression on Horizon. It isn't generous with the trophies early on but a great game so far like the original.

 

Not sure if I will make attempt progress on anything else in the next couple of weeks but we will see. Happy hunting all!

I have finished Dragon Age II and hit 99 platinums. You can read my impressions here. It seems a bit unreal I'm almost at 100. I will use my final swap for it. Hope you've had a good week. It's been ok for me on the trophy front.

 

I platinumed Chained Echoes finally. I liked this one, I think it's an incredible homage to old-skool JRPGs and liked many of the ideas and touches (all the end game content eg ultimate weapons, hidden gigaboss, bounty hunts etc was nice and varied). Some systems were a bit lacklustre such as the weapon upgrading and enchanting that I never bothered to use. Combat I was a bit torn on. I found some fights thrilling - you are spinning many different plates such as managing the overdrive gauge, TP, HP, keeping all buffs/debuffs ticking, using your characters unique mechanics and passive skills only to get through the battle by the skin of your teeth.... But most battles were quite brain numbingly straightforward and even upping the battle speed and opening with strong attacks drags on a bit. I liked the mechanic that restored your health and TP to full after each battle, it really respects your time but this kills any tension as fighting the chaff is so low-stakes it is meaningless. I did switch to easy mode about half way through the game just to get through scrub tier enemies quicker. I like the story and characters but I felt there was a bit of inconsistency in the writing (but hey, this game was mostly made by a single person and those are quite specialised skills). I experienced the usual midgame lull but I'm glad I came back and powered through it.

I've dabbled in Nobody Saves the World and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero but have no trophies to show for it. Speed runs and NG+ feel a bit tedious at the moment, even for games I really liked. Shame as they would be quite easy platinums if I can get around to them.

I've bumped Steins;gate Elite off my list for newly released Humanity. I love, love, love Steins;gate but now is not the time for me to play a VN. Humanity is something I can complete in a few bursts before the end of the challenge me reckons. I absolutely loved the advertising campaign for it

 

Off-list, I've put a few hours into Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God as I fancied snuggling up to my Vita on a night where my shoulder pain kept me up. Also I've played some Among Us as my little ones wanted me to play with them.

 

This week I'd like to get another platinum or two so I'll likely be playing the games I've mentioned above. I may use a few of my swaps for quick (but not cheap) 100%'s from the PS+ range as it's becoming quite a nice library.

One final update

 

Destiny 2

The last update was meant to be my final one as I assumed I wasn't going to get anywhere with the Destiny 2 platinum. But it turns out my clan is super active right now because the current season is over and folks are doing last minute stuff while they have the chance and before the next season begins. So I had a huge opportunity to take care of Master and Grandmaster difficulty dungeon runs, getting them done gave me a burst of energy to clear the last couple of trophies for the platinum too. For context, if I didn't get that Grandmaster difficulty trophy done, I would have had to wait until mid-July when access to them re-opens. I also managed to do the raid needed for one of the DLC trophies. I barely slept on Saturday night, but it was worth it, because I won't have to wait possibly months to be able to get the platinum again.

 

I still have three DLC trophies to take care of, but some of the requirements are gated behind time sensitive things. Nothing intensive and completely doable, but i have to wait for weekly resets to get everything i need done.

Another one chalked off although it was on my Summer list so I will have to amend that now. 4 completions in 3 months is good by own dreadful standard so I am reasonably happy with it.

 

Where would I rank this Life is Strange in the series. Probably on par with Before the Storm. It is good for 3 and a half chapters and then loses its way a touch before rekindling the fire at the end. Far better than LIS 2 which was awful but not quite the original. Overall though decent story.

I yet again do not have an update since finishing The Witcher 3. I intended on playing something this weekend but I ended up actually doing summer activities outside for once (away from the bad air quality, but it was still a little smoky) and today I am in recovery mode. I am so old lol. As there are only 10 days left, it is very up in the air if I'm going to make any progress in any of my remaining games, but we will see.

Good progress on Sackboy so far. I was playing on my own, but my GF saw me playing, so we're playing the campaign in co-op now. That'll slow me down a little since we can only play for a couple of hours after dinner and she's not very used to a controller (PC gamer), but we'll manage to wrap it up in two or three more days. She's enjoying it and I am optimistic I can get her to play It Takes Two, finally. But that will come on another event, if ever ?.

 

Other than that, steady progress on the Outriders campaign. The game got quite repetitive fast, but I've been playing while catching up on stuff I had to watch/listen to, so at least it isn't too bad. It should also be done by the end of the week, so I'll try to sneak in either some more progress in Sifu/TLOU2 or do some more swaps and get to play A Plague Tale, which I also have pending. It looked rough last week, but it does look like I can finish 2-3 games before the month ends. Wish me luck ?

In the last week, I got the platinum for Sea of Solitude, a narrative adventure/puzzle game with monsters, that reminded me of a mix of Team Ico creatures and Where The Wild Things Are and an heavy focus on relationship/family problems.

I also got the platinum in Blackwind, a twin stick shooter/hack `n slash. The story is your typical mecha anime (boy gets in mech suite and fights against enemies), but the tone felt a bit off (the game looks like a license game to a saturday morning cartoon but there is a lot of gore, excecution moves and death in it). The game was (relative) short and fun, but it had a few control problems and I fell through the map 2 times and had to restart the last check point.

I also played Samurai Maiden (and have only to S rank the last boss on demonic difficulty and defeat 15000 enemies for the platinum) and Afterimage, a beautiful metroidvania that is extremly stingy with it`s trophies (I have a playtime of over 15 hours and I only got 4 trophies so far, 2 for story progression and 2 for sidequests).

Beside this I played a lot of Succubus, which is way more fun than I thought it would be.

More progress. Burly Men At Sea had been sitting on my Vita for the longest time, but I always feel like I'm going to break the damn thing with it's spindly little analog sticks. Update #10

 

Hey everyone, hope you are all well ? 

 

As we are getting close to the end of the challenge now, I think I should be able to complete all my games in time. I spent the weekend working on completing the Demon Compendium in SMT, and once that was done I loaded up my remaining incomplete save file to play through the rest of the game, making the correct decisions for the chaos ending. With that all done, I just need to do the final boss on these 2 remaining save files (Chaos ending and True Demon ending) and I'll have that plat! Still saving this for my 5000 trophy milestone, so I need to complete Horizon VR2 first.

 

I went back to the VR2 on Monday and have earned a few trophies in Horizon. The eye strain is still an issue, but I'm playing in short sessions and taking breaks as needed. Hoping my eyes will eventually adjust to this, as I don't have this problem in the original PSVR. I've managed to complete missions 3 and 4, I'm now part way through mission 5 which I'll pick up again tonight. Going up against the Thunderjaw (those things are huge in the VR!). I think there's 12 missions in the game, so I'll keep chipping away at those. Most of the trophies are story based so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Sorry to hear that. I was hoping to get my 190th before June but unfortunately I forgot the Solosseum exists, and one damn wisp won't get recruited, so... it'll be a while.

I finished Man of Medan, and all the games for the event for the first time I think.

 

Man of Medan was ok, the story was interesting, the acting was uneven. Alex had the most scenes, but I thought he was least interesting character and worst acted. Fliss and Conrad were the highlights and I thought it was interesting how much story was missed if Conrad escapes on the boat, something that seems like the best choice to do. I think I would have enjoyed the game much more if I hadn’t played the story 4 times in a row to get specific trophies.

 

Outside of this event, KeyWe is leaving ps plus next month so I was trying to get further with help from my daughter and partner, but the time limits for gold are very tight and it’s a bit difficult for us. I’m going to try a bit solo to see if I can do any better. My daughter is also trying to get her 2nd platinum by playing Lake. I didn’t think the slowness of it would appeal to a 6 year old, but she’s enjoying it and that’s what matters.
