Forgot how good the story of that game is. And I've also been playing some Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light with @rjkclarke... should have probably added this one and LOTR to my list but oh well! So after that longer platinum experience I'm just in the mood for something chill and less gameplay orientated, so I thought I'd swap something out that would be a bit difficult for something that's a bit more relaxed, and I've been wanting to play True Colours for a while now. So I'm going to start that game next.
Popular Post Taruta13
Oh, I didn't see that post. That's great, especially if four swaps will be the new policy in future Backlog events. Not saying that I would use them all but Spring Backlog I used them all and STILL failed the list. Well then, I might swap out Ni No Kuni as while that game could be doable(almost finished with Disgaea 4 Complete, though I predict that, with my head cold making me sleepy, it will take me a week to grind out all the stupid Rank 41 weapons for the item collector trophy), it's a pretty long RPG and I did promise to make Hogwarts Legacy my 175th platinum, and just like Valvatorez, breaking my promise would be terrible, and it's not that bad since the story advances at your own pace so I can get all the collectibles I can at my own pace, and my gym trainer(who played that game and loved it) told me that about the secret broom vendor that sells a broom that makes you fly like Harry Potter even if you suck at it like Ron Weasly so I can get Imelda's stupid challenges done. I could move Ni No Kuni Remastered to Summer Backlog if I decide to go for it as I plan on just repurchasing it digitally so I can send my physical discs of that and Dragon Quest Builders 2 to Gamestop as nobody in my family has a PS4. But I will do a swap eventually. Also, I am so glad I swapped out Minecraft for the Vita because, sadly, my Vita is now dead due to accidentally spilling creme soda on it. (It was having wonky issues with the rear touch screen eating inputs for a long time beforehand so it was on its last legs; my dad is trying to fix it but I doubt he can pull off miracles, I'll just have to replace the thing come May when I have the money as I have unfinished Sly 2 on that system). Might consider doing Summer Backlog as I am far from at peace: There are a TON of games lurking in the mire waiting for me to finish them. Popular Post Darling Baphomet
Whoops, haven't posted here in a while. I've been finding it difficult to motivate myself to do game write ups lately and otherwise check in on forums. Platinumed a few games since my last update! Steady progress all around. Firstly, finished Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan. This is an absolutely charming rpg collectathon where you play as the titular Billy and must restore color to a world drained of it by talking enemies through their problems and adding them to your roster. Its battle system consists of talking to enemies, which reveals weaknesses if you choose the right dialogue options, and then deploying your allies with the appropriate heart colors to fill their slots with attacks. It's a fairly original battle system and every friend you make has a fair bit of dialogue and a unique design and story, often mirroring real life struggles - there's allies who force themselves to work until they're constantly tired, who are insecure about sharing the things they're passionate about, and who struggle with self-esteem issues in regards to their weight or other physical attributes. Some of the dialogue comes off as a bit preachy, but a lot of it does hit close to home. Very solid indie RPG overall. Also finished Paradise Killer! This is an esoteric, open world mystery game. When I say open world mystery game, I don't mean you run around solving cases, but rather there is one case, and you can jump around the retrowave styled island at your leisure, finding new clues and people to interrogate at every turn. Once you feel you're ready, you can commence the final trial, which decides who the perpetrator or perpetrators of whatever crimes you've uncovered are. The open world mystery style makes for a satisfying game, although it is unfortunately a bit open ended as a result - you don't really get definitive closure for most things; presented with new evidence, most people will simply brush it off or give you a new lead. You only get to tie all the threads together during the trial, which is fun but not quite the epilogue I would have liked. The music and atmosphere of this game are top notch, as is the occult setting it takes place in. Highly recommend. Also started Star Renegades, which is a roguelike RPG - and I do mean RPG in the traditional sense. You have a story, overworlds, and turn based battles with a squad of 5 (or 6, not sure yet) members. You also can form relationships between characters - I accidentally was too nice to the trash man (he lives on a trash planet and has pheromones that smell like rotten eggs) with the main character, and so they are now soulmates. The dialogue for them becoming soulmates consisted of her saying that he smelled attractive instead of seductive to her. I regret my life choices. The dialogue is similarly hilarious throughout, and the RPG combat is actually extremely engaging - this isn't some classic JRPG where you can just grind enemies and then spam a single attack. You're time limited on every map and every battle is tense enough that having a good strategy is a must, and every skill at your disposal has its usage. The pixel art is also gorgeous. Think I've found my new obsession for the next few weeks. Besides that... been playing a bit of WWZ with friends - this may have been a mistake to add since I didn't realize just how grindy the platinum was, but at least it's motivation to keep going with it. Unfortunately my friend group fell out of Dungeon Defenders Awakened because... it's kind of shit. It looks terrible, the enemies are ridiculously slow, the combat and UI are ridiculously janky, and it's just... not as interesting as other similar games out there. If at any point you find yourself considering playing DDA, I suggest you buy Orcs Must Die 3 instead. Taruta13
Okay understood. Also, before a power surge hits again(another damn thunderstorm is passing through ), I am going to use that swap to swap out Ni No Kuni for Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom... the PS5 version. Yeah, they came out with another version. I am still shooting for Hogwarts Legacy to be somewhere within the next 20 platinums so I don't want to shelve it and Ni No Kuni isn't even started yet(only got to the first nightmare boss) so I can just restart if I feel like it and I don't want two long RPGs for one month considering that these thunderstorms are balking my attempts to get the final trophies in Disgaea 4 Complete+.
Popular Post SicilianDragon92
Update #5 Ghostwire: Tokyo 0% > 41% Final Fantasy 0% > 78% Immortals Fenyx Rising 6% > 22% Kingdom Come: Deliverance 39% > 74% Wasteland 3 9% > 34% Mass Effect 3 0% > 100% Middle Earth: Shadow of War 12% > 15% Updates in Bold, swaps (2/4) in Purple and completed games in Blue. Another week down. My most improved completion this week has been in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It is a game that I find to be extremely interesting from a design perspective. It’s a first person game with a very old fashioned RPG system, and that’s a disconnect that is rarely seen these days. I will admit to not really getting it when I first played it years ago, but once I realised what the system was going for it was much more enjoyable. You play as a peasant son of a blacksmith in some small town in feudal era Europe (just after the long and successful reign of the much mourned Charles IV, king of Bohemia). The key point to getting this game is the first part of that previous sentence, you are the peasant son of a blacksmith, so you are playing a character who starts out mostly useless at everything. He has never been trained in combat, never picked a lock or a pocket and he can’t read. The main complaint seems to be that some of these things are impossible to do, but it’s not really you who is figuring them out, it is the character, and to get better he needs to practice. So even though it feels like you are the one in control when picking a lock, it’s really quite impossible until your character has more points in lockpicking. It’s sort of a mash up of the elder scrolls “level by doing” system with the deus ex “you’re terrible with no points and that’s the point” style system. It’s a hard slog at first but later on it does feel very satisfying to finally be able to do things you couldn’t before. In terms of progress, I’ve finished the main story and got the merciful/virgin achievements. Merciful in particular was a bit of a pain in the later story missions as they involve a lot of battles, didn’t feel like a great hero when all Henry was doing was running up to the enemy, slapping them in the back of the head and then running away till one of his mates stabbed them in the back. Luckily the NPCs didn’t seem to notice. Now that that’s out of the way the stabathon has begun and I’m currently murdering my way through Bohemia while trying to complete enough of the side quests for the completionist achievement. Other main progress has been in my swapped in Ghostwire: Tokyo. I’m really enjoying it but possibly didn’t appreciate just how much of a collectable hunt it turns into by the end. Progress has been quick so far but I’m guessing will slow considerably. I’m also swapping in the new Final Fantasy pixel remaster for Ni No Kuni 2. I know it isn’t really in the spirit of the challenge to put new things in, but I need an easier win I think or I’ll never get finished. I am most of the way through it and just have the bestiary, the treasure chests and the final dungeon to go. Popular Post Vulpine9Tails
Missed my update yesterday due to not being home. I'm still not home but I'm currently awake super early in the morning in my hotel due to someone snoring horribly loud and I can't go back to sleep so I'm doing my update on my phone: 1. I'm just not finding it terribly compelling for some reason. It does make me want to replay the actual Borderlands games on this account though. I also finally started Danganronpa. So far it is stellar and I can't wait to play more of it but I'm not sure if I'll work on it again next as I seem to be a bit all over the place playing games not on my list.

Popular Post Buff_Cupcake
Update 8: Not a huge amount of trophy progress for this update, but a little bit nonetheless: Dead Island 2: This game is doing exactly what I expected it to, very dense, richly populated small hub exploration areas, a b-movie horror plot mixed in with enjoyable & repetitive gameplay. The gore system is really, really good and possibly something that should become a bit of a benchmark for horror games that fit this kind of horror. I got the co-op trophies out of the way as soon as I started and it was really fun! So I recommend finding someone to play with on this, especially if your Slayer 'class' has some nice synergy with your co-op partner. Destiny 2: The grind continues and i'm very close to unlocking a couple of the more long-winded trophies. Tonight i'm going to be going for the trophy to complete a Nightfall dungeon on the highest (Grandmaster) difficulty. It's really tough apparently and you need to have a decently geared character, plus some good communication with your party. It took me about 100 hours of gametime to get to the right stats for my character to even be able to do this level of difficulty. I'm really hoping it goes smoothly. The week ahead: My game-time this week will be jumping back and forth between Destiny 2 and Dead Island 2 until Friday, where I'll be firmly plugged into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Have a great week everyone! Loving all of the updates! See you in the next one ? Popular Post rjkclarke
Update #3 Observation (PS4) 0% > 100% Type:Rider (PS4) 0% > 100% Greedfall (PS4) 0% Yooka-Laylee (PS4) 0% Dreamfall Chapters (PS4) 0% Silence (PS4) 0%> 100% Kona (PS4) Games Completed 3/7 Swaps Used 2/4 Woooo I completed a thing! So I felt like I could do an update again..... I've been gaming plenty since my last update, and making pretty good progress actually in my slow march towards 98% completion.....I've been playing all sorts of awesome co-op games alongside @Redblaziken8 - at least one of which I should have added, and she should have added for this event - but we went over the threshold in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light in the first session we played it practically Unfortunately with my tackling of other backlog games - ones that were way too high percentage to be considered here.... and erm..... Falling into a GTAIV shaped hole for a little while, I have let my progress on this side of my backlog slip a little bit, and as I keep reminding myself and others, it's always pretty healthy to add a new game whenever you fancy it, so that's what I'll continue to do. I actually decided to swap out I am Setsuna, because it's not going off of Extra/Premium for a little while, but Kona is, and I've been wanting to experience that game for quite some time, so I'm interested to see what kind of an experience I have with it. It also would add a lovely White Rectangle to my Kaleidoscope challenge board too so.... erm, there's that also ? I'm sure Setsuna might make an appearance again in the future though, as that's been on my Radar to play for a long time now! If you want to read some quick thoughts on Observation from a recent status update, I'll paste them in below.... It's not compulsory, of course, and you're probably sick of me waffling already - I did have a really good time with Observation though, and if the hinted at sequel ever happened, I'd absolutely play it, and not just because I'm a sucker for series completion either Observation (PS4) A Couple of Quick Thoughts If you've got even a passing interest in heavy science fiction then I think this game would probably interest you greatly.... Or to maybe break this down in an easier way, have you ever watched 2001: A Space Odyssey, and thought.... "Hmmm, I wonder what it's like to be HAL 9000?" Well in a way this game, in a roundabout way let's you do just that. As a big lover of puzzle games, and sci-fi in general, this game appealed to me on quite a few levels, and it's very interesting how the gameplay actually manifests itself. In a strange way my experience with the game was equal parts unsettling and relaxing, the game creates such an interesting, eery and unique atmosphere - more on that in a moment. However, in that same breath, the gameplay is just so relaxing, and in parts incredibly satisfying. So I found myself never quite settled, yet always wanting to continue on, as I was very intrigued by everything happening. Whilst visually some aspects of the game aren't perfect, nor did I expect them to be, static objects and pieces of scenery look incredibly detailed, whilst facial animations don't. For me this wasn't a problem, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. One of the things that impressed me most about this game, is its sound design, the amount of effort it takes to create any kind of atmosphere using sound is much more time consuming than you'd probably realise, but the way in which this game not only does that, but maintains that quality throughout is such an impressive feat, and I couldn't help but be impressed by my fellow mole peoples efforts So that's me done with this update, there's still an outside chance that I can complete this list before the end of May, but I'm not going to push myself super hard to do it, but I'll make sure I'm having an enjoyable time whilst attempting it that's for sure! I'll catch you in the next one!
Taruta13
Not going to update but I am almost done with Disgaea 4 Complete+. Here are the links to the images I captured showing the max damage I did to get over 10 billion and the user map I used, buffing a fused Desco and Prinny Kurtis on a stack of +50% ATK Geo Blocks for +400% ATK on a Level 1 Masked Hero on a stack of -350% DEF blocks and using a fully boosted Yog Sotoloth. Map I used: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FukYug7WAAgOItb?format=jpg&name=large Netherworld record for max damage: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FukYqSKWAAEldLV?format=jpg&name=large Diving into the Item World to get the last Rank 41 weapons, I just need the spear, axe, gun, staff and grey monster weapon. Wish me luck. 20 hours ago, MidnightDragon said: One week until the summer signups begin. Keep it up! Gonna wait until the last minute to decide whether to continue this madness. I am recovering from a cold and that really balked my ability to play video games as I kept getting tired. I still have two games left to do after this.

Popular Post Vulpine9Tails
Small midweek update because I finally completed: 16. Tales from the Borderlands 65% -> 100%☑️ I was a little bit bored while playing this one but regardless, there were a few moments where I was tearing up hard. For not being super invested in the story, I got quite weepy over a few of the characters. But I do that with everything that's even remotely sad or joyful. If my bf wasn't home I'd probably bawl like a baby but thankfully I was able to keep it to just a few tears. I have no idea what to play next.

Valvatorez and his crew can go rest in peace. My gawd, that was two and 3/4 long and hard months to earn those trophies. The only thing I liked was Nagi Clockwork. Yep, it looks like I might change my Disgaea 4 waifu from Fuka. Just recovered from a nasty head cold and need to rest before I even think about getting on another game. I will go back to Hogwarts, but right now I owe Eorzea a favor. Edited April 26, 2023 by Taruta13
