Mission 100%: Spring 2024 Backlog Challenge

Special thanks to all people past and present who have participated or hosted on the challenge!

If you're like me, you've got an insanely large backlog and have no good reason you keep putting it off and watching it grow. Why not do something about it? Like previous backlog challenges, this event is a challenge to the community to select between 5 and 25 games from your backlog and complete them to 100% starting 00:01 AM EST February 29 and ending at 23:59 US EST on May 31. If you complete the maximum of 25 before the end of the challenge, you can add up to 15 more games for a total of 40. Signups will close on March 31

Now, here are the details and rules.

Event Philosophy: This is a firm commitment to complete the games you say you will within the time limit, so choose games you know you can finish, and select a manageable number. The minimum for the event is 5 games, and the maximum is 25. If you finish 25 games, you can add up to 15 more. You can change your games as much as you want until 23:59 EST on February 28. After the event begins, you can make up to three swaps. If you think there's a good reason to drop a game entirely without swapping (like your console broke or the game got damaged beyond repair), message me. If you want to add more games to your list or want to continue after finishing your list, you can add games to your list up to the maximum. Existing DLC counts in the challenge, but any DLC released during the challenge doesn’t have to be completed, but feel free to do so if you wish.

Eligible Games: Any game with trophies are eligible for the event, with a few exceptions. One game can have a completion percentage of up to 50%, but the rest must be 33% or under. Unreleased games are fine as long as they're released and you buy them within the challenge's timeframe. If it gets delayed outside the challenge window, you can swap it and it not count against the three swaps. Standalone DLC (like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy) is acceptable as long as it's not part of another trophy list. If it is (Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare for example), you have to also complete the other trophies. You can also do a game where 100% is unobtainable if you feel strongly about it, but you must complete all obtainable trophies. Individual episodes of a game that has separate trophy lists, such as in early Telltale games or Broken Sword on the Vita, count as a single game; therefore, Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse counts as 1 game, not 5. For this event, you may complete a game you have previously done for a different platform or region before the start of this event, but you may not do the same game multiple times during this event. Cross-saving a game for an easy completion will also be ineligible. This includes autopopping a cross gen game on PS5. If you want it on both, you have to do it legit. Short platinums are fine. Shovelware games (jump, Breakthrough, the random object letter, etc.) are strictly prohibited.

Eligible Participants: Anyone is eligible to participate, provided you are serious about completing the games you say will. However, if you have flagged games on your PSNProfile, you are banned from participating unless you hide the games, get unflagged, or use a different profile. No cheating! You will be added to the list with your PSN name rather than PSNP, so if you change your PSN ID, please let me know so I can update you on the list. I will update the participants at least once a day, but if I miss you, @ me or send me a message and I'll add you ASAP.

Hey, would love to join again. Sadly was playing through the last backlog challenge but had to pivot to a game off list (GTA 5) owing to the Rockstar editor mode trophies being made unavailable in a few weeks time. I did have a question for you however @MidnightDragon, genuinely no worries if not possible though. I intend to go back to my RDR2 playthrough in a few weeks time which will likely coincide with the start of this event. It is currently sitting at 57% complete however. Any chance I can include this on my list? Appreciate its over 50% but owing to the enormity of the game, hoping you might be ok making an exception? No worries if not though. I can work around it if you would rather all games under 50 / 33% and will remove from below.

Monster Hunter World is a tricky inclusion because it is currently part of the Fall/Winter challenge. I'm not sure where I will sit in terms of completion by the end of this month. But it is a long platinum so I doubt i'll have made enough of a dent for it to reach a completion that isn't eligible. I'll keep an eye on it though, I can always swap it out nearer the event start.

The only one I'm a bit unsure about getting the 100% for is Space Marine because the DLC has been delisted in Australia. Technically I can still get it if I hunt down an ultimate edition or rebuy the game from the US store, but I don't really want to throw down money on a game I already own. We'll see though. Maybe by the time I've platinumed it I'll really want to keep going, especially with Space Marine 2 on the horizon.

I'll be starting from scratch on Katamari Forever even though I'm at 50% complete on my trophy list. I had been making progress on the PS Now version, but that went away in the big changeover. I was hoping the save file might be in my online PS Plus saves, but no dice. Soooo, back to square one it is.

Hey loves.

I'm trying to balance myself with these. In the challenge period I will of course be playing the new FF7R and DD2... not going to add them to the list, unless a platinum seems achievable. I may carrt a few games over from my current challenge (and seeing as the PS+ catalogue has been amazing lately, I may try to play some of these if they play well on the Portable). Making some assumptions based off Steam achievements for games yet unreleased, these listed ones should be (hopefully) achievable.

I will absolutely join in again, these events really help me focus on breaking down the immense backlogs. Will edit in my first 5 games...once I actually figure out what I want to do...

Been a while since I've joined this event bit I want to again! I will start with five games.

1. God of War: Ghost of Sparta (11%)

2. Dragon Quest 11 (39%)

3. Yakuza Kiwami 2 (17%)

4. Grand Theft Auto 3 (2%)

5. Bugsnax (10%)

This list will probably change before the end of the month because I think I'll finish atleast God of War and maybe DQ11 but we will see.

I admit it is unrealistic to complete those 10 games in just 3 months lol. Out of my backlog, they are the only games eligible for this challenge and I am not sure in which order I will play them, so might as well just list all of them. Unlike the previous challenge, this time I intend to actually focus on my backlog instead of continuously adding games after games I never started before lol.
