Popular Post Superbuu3
Banner by Floriiss Anyone who wants to join, you may use the Tales of Symphonia sign up thread, until Sunday 1st November when it will be closed. If you want to send an enquiry after that date, send me a PM or use this thread here. Anyone who invades this thread breaking this simple request will likely be added to my ignore list and effectively banned from all future playthroughs, this also includes anyone who puts spoilers in the thread, beyond the point we've played up to. This starts October 27th, if you don't have the game, if you want to join in on discussion of the game, don't discuss anything beyond the current checkpoint. I have tried to remove every single trace of anything that seemed like it could be a spoiler so don't worry about getting spoilers reading through this post. Before We Start: Tales of Symphonia requires four or five playthroughs to get the platinum trophy your inital playthrough can be done blind if you wish to just enjoy the game, but it wouldnt hurt to read the intro to a trophy guide. There is also a full walkthrough available on gamefaqs here. Trophy guides for the game can be found here or here. A full walkthrough can be found here. Missable Trophies: There are various missable playthroughs due to the nature of choices in the game hence multiple playthroughs, however there are two trophies that technically could be missable without a guide whatsoever. Sword Dancer Slayer - Defeated all 3 Sword Dancers. You can open a weapon shop with all their swords. But that's too much work. I will highlight the locations of the 3 sword dancers as we play the game, but if you want to read up on this now check this link here. NOTE STORY SPOILERS: The Sister: Seles - Defeated Zelos' sister Seles in the Coliseum. Sisters are tough. You need Zelos in your party and to beat the advanced singles mode in the coliseum with him. This is technically missable due to the fact it is possible to get Zelos to leave your party permenantly. Guidelines: 1. We only play up to the agreed milestone, I think if we leave people behind the group will fall apart, if people fall behind we will continue, but i do hope he others will try to keep up. 2. If you do meet an agreed story milestone, try to focus on any collectibles. 3. Let us know in the thread if you meet a milestone so we can tell if everything is running smoothly, if you're having trouble with a boss or particular enemies try to ask in the thread first before consulting a guide, this is mainly to keep the talk on the game still open. 4. If you have any suggestions I'm completely open to them. 5. Anyone who wants to join, you may use the Tales of Symphonia sign up thread, until Sunday 1st November when it will be closed. Checkpoint 2 - Reach the Palmacosta Ranch Important: Make sure you goto Izoold after the Ossa Trail (do not go to Hima in the North) otherwise you will be stuck on a much harder route through the game. Note you can save the missable sword dancers for a second playthrough, as they might be too hard on a first playthrough. Missable: Sword Dancer There is a Sword Dancer on the Ossa Trail in a cave (from ExHaseo's guide): Sword Dancer #1 Location: Ossa Trail Cave(Where Sheena pops out) Time Frame: From after your first fight with Sheena until you go to the Tower of Salvation. Recommended Level: 20+ Checkpoint 3 - Reach Hima, The Village of Adventurers Dav9834's advice: Do not go to asgard first!!Sorry I was up late last night and just saw the post!Go straight Luin! You won't miss it, it's in the middle of that continent, with a lot of trees around. In luin, get the wonder chef and buy 2 or more rabbits feet! Plus the dog(I think the dogs there). Grind to get the gald for the rabbits feet if you need to. Later in the game you'll use them enough to justify the cost and time. Then go to asgard and continue the story Checkpoint 4 - Reach Sybak the University Town Checkpoint 5 - Complete the Temple of Lightning Checkpoint 6 - Complete the Temple of Darkness Edited December 23, 2015 by Superbuu3

Xillia
I've reached the checkpoint as well. Earned some easy trophies on the way, no turning back now.
Dav9834
I applaud all of you taking up this challenge! If you need any advice I can add my knowledge, I was working on a guide for about a year. Unfortunately because the guides a big change visually(artistically) from what other guides look like, it will probably never see the light of day. But the my info is still good And you can save on the world map so once you get to the first checkpoint just save before entering

kittyxiii
I also hit the first checkpoint before re-reading the first post and realising it starts next week I got a little bit too excited haha
Brawler
Symphonia doesn't require 4 playthroughs. Definitely not 5. There are 3 you must do and another up to the point of the "Flanoir scene". This one is a bit of a doozy in terms of keeping track of everything, but it's still awesome. Hope everybody enjoys it.
Kurorac
Reached the Checkpoint too. Was pretty fun till now and it definitely felt like a Tales of game.
Superbuu3
New banner for the topic hope you guys like it and thanks to Floriis. If anyone wants to run the discussion points let me know otherwise I'll do them. I also hit the first checkpoint before re-reading the first post and realising it starts next week I got a little bit too excited haha Sorry that was a typo anyway lets just say start day is today. Im still feeling run down and sick, but wanted to get this up as soon as possible, so that should have had an earlier date.

HMMM... IIRC 4 is the minimum runs needed to plat this one... since you must have all the items for one of Genis' Title... and getting 3 items needed 3 separate Flanoir scenes = 3 runs... and the other run is for Genis Flanoir scene
Dav9834
^^^ I concur , except that it's 5 flanoir events. The last 2 can be done in 1 playthrough by saving before the event on the last playthrough.

All I was saying it isn't 4 or 5 complete playthroughs, unless you goof up.

All I was saying it isn't 4 or 5 complete playthroughs, unless you goof up. thanks for clearing that up... cause in your statement above (at least to me), the first line sounds like you don't need to have 4 runs to plat it... which might confuse some since both guides provided by Buu-san said it requires a minimum of 4 runs

All I was saying it isn't 4 or 5 complete playthroughs, unless you goof up. If you consider not defeating the end boss then ya you're right it's only 3 playthroughs. However you're "essentially" right there to get the 4th scene. So I always consider it 4 sense you have to play through 99% of the game for the 4th. You need to get to the Derris Emblem for the 4th. Maphantom238
I really wanted to join in on this event, but... sadly I threw out my last copy of the Tales of Symphonia chronicles. I should have given it a chance. Worse, I have E.W.S. so I can't buy it back. I guess I'll have to wait until my birthday (or pray that I lose 20 pounds by December because I was wagered $200 that I would drop 25 by the end of the year) until I can get enough money. Yes, I could get a JOB but I am lazy. EDIT: Don't worry about spoiling the game for me - I've already played through the original ToS on the GameCube a long time ago. But I will respect the rules and not discuss anything story-wise or otherwise about the game until you've reached those checkpoints.
