Popular Post Dragon-Archon
Warning: this page contains a lot of epic content. Overexposure to too much epicness can cause blindness, but this is just temporary....probably. Banner created by Masamune As promised the sequel to the Epic Quest is here. During the (slightly less) Epic Quest #2, Team PSNP returns once again to travel the star ocean to obtain the platinum trophy. Here we will chronicle our journey and adventures while having as much fun as possible. Some of us may one day claim this treasure: General Information This Let's Play is created to help each other obtain the SO5 platinum trophy or to just play the game for fun. You can play it at your own pace and there won't be any checkpoints. The only rules are: you must obtain all trophies legit and people with hacked games aren't allowed to join. The (slightly less) Epic Quest #2 starts on June 28th 2016 and there is no end date yet. You don't have to start on June 28th and it's ok to enter later. You also don't have to start a new game if you were already playing it. If anyone else wants to join too, just leave a comment and you'll be added. Useful Links As of now we finally have an English guide for this game: Star Ocean 5 Trophy Guide Star Ocean 5 Supplement Guide Post-game Powerleveling Helpful Information On 3-7-2016 at 4:08 AM, Dav9834 said: Well this took me a bit more time than I thought, I'll update them as I progress(slowly), but for people starting off it should help Star Ocean 5, S05 Maps, and World Map I got a little lazy on the "world map" Introducing Team PSNP And now the moment you've all been waiting for, our brave companions who will undertake the epic quest #2. *Cue epic introduction music* Returning Participants From the Epic Quest Introductions are copied from the SO4 thread. If anyone wants an updated intro, CediFonei will be happy to write one. Dragon-ArchonYes, I too shall embark on this epic quest. You may be wondering what I can add to this already amazing team. Well truth be told, that thought also crossed my mind, but only for a split second. I shall reveal it in the next episode .... just kidding. As a descendant of the dragon clan I have trained for years to master the way of the ninja and dual wielding katana. I can contribute to the team with my dragon vision (ability to see clearly at night), using a stealthy approach, and infiltrate enemy hideouts to open the gate for the other team members. man_with_wdjat Prinny is a veteran when it comes to Epic Quests. With a knack for explosions and having founded the Prinny regime in the Netherworld, he can create portals to his homeworld to spawn prinny minions. These deadly penguins follow his every command and usually end up detonating themselves in a funny way. They also serve as a comic relief. His student Clawz created the wireless communication devices we're all using during the quests and it comes with a teleportation function to get back to the Aexuz Mansion for some R&R. TheFinalEmblemIntroducing our youngest member fresh out of high school. Being the heir of a prestigious school, Emblem is a real casanova and can charm any girl. This is very useful when gathering information. He has decided to leave a life of comfort and luxury behind and seek the thrill of adventure, bringing with him years of dueling experience and his trusted spear. Always a gentlemen and there's only one thing that truly pisses him off, and that is to treat women badly. When he gets angry, his spear produces wind slashes that can easily slice and dice stone. Masamune-XIIIOur most enigmatic member: he is always wearing a black collared cloak with red clouds on it, a kasa (Japanese straw hat) with a chime attached to it, and carries a red scythe that has 3 blades on it. Apparently it brings luck to the owner when the chime uh ... chimes. Masamune is fond of various poisons and uses a lot of different ones ranging from paralyzing to truth serums to deadly ones, which he can apply on his scythe. Nobody actually knows what he hides underneath the cloak and according to Masamune, he keeps his entire poison collection there. He's often found talking with Clawz to combine their poisons and explosives, which has yielded some interesting results. He also has a friendly rivalry with Mayus to see if he can create antidotes for Masamune's poisons, which in turn stimulates Masamune to create even more potent versions. Needless to say Masamune is always exonerated from cooking duty, because you know, poisons and all. Wouldn't want our adventures to end prematurely. STFUxDxDSTFU is a Siren and according to legend only 7 Sirens exist at all times. Once a Siren dies, another one is born to take its place. STFU powers can manipulate gravity and create stasis fields, which can be used to temporary trap enemies. Before joining STFU traveled the lawless Borderlands on Planet Pandora and made a living as a Vault Hunter. Using the Vault Key to find vaults, STFU hopes to uncover lost treasures and artefacts to learn more about the mysterious Precursors. According to the Vault Key the SO4 plat shrine contains information about a vault. Meepy- dav9834The legendary diamond trophy forging blacksmith from the dragon clan's allies has returned! Departing from the allied village of Konoha once more, Dav the 9834th lends both hammer and forge to Team PSNP's noble cause to forge into the alien lands of the 5th Star Ocean, and hammer hundreds of probably hostile beasts into the earth. His mastery with metalwork can keep our team's armaments in peak condition, even those of the rarest makings! He also plays a mean xylophone. nevetsteven2A parkour specialist, having freely roamed the city's skyscraper rooftops for years Steven has honed his skills perfectly. Carrying a grapple hook for emergencies and long jumps, Steven has also been dubbed "Spiderman" by the media. But as always the media goes overboard and created a version in where he wears a red-blue outfit and shoots webs from his hands. Steven specializes in hand-to-hand combat and disarming enemies. He also uses his grapple hook on enemies to pull them towards him while shouting "get over here". Steve is also the only member who can keep up with Star and her cat reflexes. The two of them seem really close and something seems to be going on between them. KempDogg410 bladesoframen greenzsaber sweetcoop Jounochi Have you ever heard the tales about an underwater city? Some claim the city was too heavy for the support beams and sunk, others say the city was build underwater. Another version mention the city was attacked long ago by a terrible monster called Sin and the city's council decided to hide the city at the bottom of the ocean. A few even go so far as to say it's the remains of Atlantis. Whatever the truth may be, Jounochi hails from the underwater city Rapture. Jounochi is an expert diver, can easily hold his breath for 5 minutes, and knows everything there is to know about the underwater flora and fauna. His favourite weapon is a harpoon gun and Clawz has added a few explosives to some harpoons for that extra punch. man_with_wdjat RaveNScythE18 Edunstar84 New Participants New participants can write their own intro or ask CediFonei to do it for them. acasser CediFoneiWell, Cedi is quite the... peculiar recruit. A moth-like alien hailing from some distant world, Cedi proclaims that he is training to become a "shonen daikaiju"... whatever that means. He cites his main motivation for joining this expedition is merely the experience itself. His affable and socially awkward behavior is a far cry from his claims to being a perpetually rampaging colossus, but he took passion and pride in even the most menial of tests to join our forces. And his claims aren't fully unfounded, as he demonstrates the ability to increase in size and strength in exchange for dexterity and agility, up to several meters taller than any human could feasibly reach. If having four arms doesn't provide enough tactical options in martial combat, he also has a penchant for magically harnessing the power of the sun. As in, nuclear power. The kind that explodes a lot. Though he greatly lacks in expertise and tactical insight, equating his immense power to a sort of dumb muscle, with proper supervision his capacity for heavy labor and overwhelming force could be an excellent addition to the team. Dragon-Archon
Wow that was fast. Can we still post in the SO4 event thread for help with that one? Of course, the SO4 thread remains open until December 31 2016, though after today I'll no longer be accepting new participants. I promised to create the thread today because that was the original end date for the SO4 thread.

acasser
Sign me up as well, please. Though I'm not 100% sure I'll start this one when my copy arrives in the mail -- that will depend on how much of my "in progress" queue gets whittled down between now and then. I may be somewhat ADHD with my gaming, but there are only so many titles I can juggle at once.

Dav9834
Do we know the full specifics of the platinum? But if you mean progress, then that's another thing entirely, and we can only hope they do. The BTs aren't hard at all in this game, honestly, and could probably be done in one playthrough.

Han_the_Dragon
Nice to see the continuation of SO4 craziness (not that I can say much, since I plat it even before you guys had the idea of that Let's Play journey..).. I would definitely join and plan on playing SO5 eventually, but since I'm short on cash (and my priority is Persona 5 and FFXV) like Tales of Zesteria, I will also have to wait quite a bit before I buy this.. so, if you want, you can put me as a maybe, but I doubt that I will get the game this year Also, sorry for never going back to the Catherine Let's Play (since I said that I would join it after finishing SAO), but I kind of got scared of that game.. well, it was the only game that gave me genuine and consistent nightmares.. and nightmares really close to what some of the game puzzles are actually.. but I still want that platinum.. sorry for the off-topic. This isn't quite true. My understanding is that the Battle Trophies were stored in a central data file along with some of the other "collectables", most likely as a binary toggle. If you had partial completion on a particular BT from a previous game, that partial completion didn't carry across when you started a new game -- either you had completed it or you hadn't. This is why you had to grind in the "postgame" to knock out trophies such as Edge's 30k kills. Then again, SO4 didn't have what many of us deem to be a "true" NG+. You started a fresh game from scratch, but you carried over various types of "core data" that were stored separately.

I know that the battle trophies as a whole, along with everything else in the collectibles section, were stored on another system data file separate from the main data, but progress didn't carry over, only completed ones. At least SO5 is a much easier plat with only 80 battle trophies There's actually 100, not 80.
