Financial Year Backlog Challenge Thing

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH PICK UPS? Personally I'm inclined to go with how it was, that you can't change. For me, that makes my choices that much more concrete, but if you want to go around and change your pick ups, and just have it be 3 that you can buy with no problems, then that's cool too, if 2 or 3 of you guys quote this and say that's what you want, that's a big enough number, and likewise if you want the opposite, do the same. Cheers!

Since I'm the kind of guy who is unsure about what games to get before it's actually time to get them, I'll also vote for the ability to change pick ups.

I'm gonna go ahead and change the game that I planned to change in this update, by the way.

Games played:

PC:

Block N Load [Tactical shooter|F2P|Steam] (27/64 -> 29/64| 42%) 101 hours -> 137 hours | 01/07/16   // I'm always playing some casual matches together with my best friend.

Osu! [Rhythm|F2P] (no achievements available) 102 hours -> 103 hours | 01/07/16   // When I've got a craving for some rhythm action I'll be playing this for a few hours.

PS3:

Rune Factory Oceans [simulation/JRPG] (17% -> 21%) 26 hours -> 52 hours | 09/07/16 // I'm playing this right now and it's addictive as hell. The kind of game I could easily play until 6 am when I'm not careful enough to watch the time.

PSVita:

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment [JRPG] (72% -> 81%) 134 hours -> 135 hours | 01/07/16   // Current game I'm trying to plat. I'm currently only passively working on this plat, finishing a few implements per day.

[planned] Persona 4 Golden [JRPG] (18%)   // Either gonna be playing this alongside with or after RFO.

Pick-Ups:

Pokemon Moon [3DS]

World of Final Fantasy [PSVita]

Persona 5 [PS3]

My little sins:

Nothing yet

DLC:

I can assure you that this list will stay empty for the rest of the year. I despise DLC...

Wallet status:

>200€ Annihilated

>100€ Writhing in pain

>50€   On diet

<50€   Completely fine <- 0€ = 0AUD

Legend: Game name [Genre/misc. information] (Achievement/Trophy progress at start X1/Y1 Z1% -> X2/Y2 Z2% now) playtime at the start of the event A hours -> playtime now B hours | first time played in the event DD/MM/JJ   // comment

As someone who knows they won't be changing their pickups not being able to change them won't affect me. However, I'm fine with letting people swap out a game or 2 if they don't feel like getting it anymore or if the release date changes (Hopefully Berseria doesn't get pushed back, but then again it'd give me time to finish the rest of the Tales games I have...). Basically, I'm fine with allowing changes to the Pickups as long as people don't start abusing it.

I wasn't to post a full update so soon, but since I want to implement some format changes (add a games complete section on "Games Played"), I will do it now..

Also as for a quick update, I just finished Ni no Kuni, quite a fun story and even the grind wasn't as bad as I expected.. really an enjoyable experience!

Now I'm deciding what I will start to play.. thinking of either Batman Arkham Asylum (it was the 1st Batman Arkham game, right?) or Dragon's Dogma..

HAN_THE_DRAGON

Games Played (Games started that I plan to play or complete during the session time):

  • Currently playing:

Natural Doctrine (Vita)

→ 1st of July 2016 - 0% Trophy complete, Game started, online trophy boost.

→ 2nd of July 2016 - 43% Trophy complete, All online trophy acquired, 2 story dungeons clear.

  • On and off or on hold:

Rocket League, no paid DLC  :platinum:

→ 2nd of July 2016 - 66% Trophy Complete, Have the Platinum and all the Utopian Coliseum trophies, working on the Neo Tokyo trophy set, missing the 2 Certified Item related trophies.

→ 3rd of July 2016 - 68% Trophy Complete, Have the Platinum and Utopian Coliseum and Neo Tokyo trophy sets at 100%.

Rainbow Moon (PS3/Vita) - 32% Trophy complete, 30 hours into it, somewhere in the middle of the story

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker (PS3) - 58% Trophy complete, online trophies and Story finished

Kingdom Hearts Re:Chains of Memories - 87% Trophy complete, both playthroughs on easy done, need 4 more playthroughs

Thief (PS3) 12% Trophy complete, Chapter 1 complete

Bloodbourne, no DLC - 3% Trophy complete, killed 1st story boss..

Muramasa Rebirth, no DLC - 14% Trophy complete, finished story of 1 character

Grand Theft Auto V (PS3) - 11% Trophy complete, story somewhere not too far from the 1st heist

  • Games Complete (100%):

Ni no Kuni  :platinum:

→ 1st of July 2016 - 2% Trophy complete, Currently heading out of the 2nd city.

→ 4th of July 2016 - 8% Trophy complete, Finished the events in Fairyland, along all available hunts and all, but 1 errand. 21 hours played according to in-game clock.

→ 6th of July 2016 - 13% Trophy complete, Story: Got 2 of the 3 stones for Mornstar, finished all available hunts and all errands except 1 (Show 3 Creatures to Derwin, currently evolving the last 4 needed). 95/100 Hidden Treasures, 93 Creatures Tamed (Including Dinoceros). 41 hours and 30 minutes played according to in-game clock.

→ 8th of July 2016 - 59% Trophy complete, Story Finished. Completed all hunts and all errands except 1 (Alchemy related errand). Got all Hidden Treasures and Treasure Chests, 139 Creatures Tamed and 90 different items created. Also got the trophies for getting 500.000 gilder, exploring all areas and buying all VIP stuff in the casino. 66 hours and 50 minutes played according to in-game clock (this includes some hours of idle time…).

→ 10th of July 2016 - 100% Trophy complete, :platinum:Story Finished. 100% Tasks and Wizard Companion completion, 90% Creature Compendium complete, 91% Alchemy complete. Got all Hidden Treasures and Treasure Chests. And got the platinum.. 81 hours and 30 minutes played according to in-game clock (so about 80 hours removing some idle time, didn’t took as long as I was expecting to platinum, and the grind didn’t felt all that bad, only 10 or so hours of grinding for the alchemy trophy and then another 6 or so hours of grinding to get the 250 familiars).

EVERYONE IS UPDATED, I THINK AT LEAST!!!

_________________________________________________________

So there. That was a hassle. I think I might work at rewriting everyone's full lists if I get enough time because formatting is a nightmare and using the quotes looks dodgy and it's a hassle and ugh. Anyway, if / when I finish that up, I'll say we should just post the new stuff and I'll add it to the main list because that should be a lot quicker, ayy.

Anyway, the vote is in, and I guess we can change our pick ups, I'll update the main post to reflect that later, but as of this post, you can pick whatever you want, whenever you want, preowned, new, upcoming, or 20 years old, 3 games, no questions asked.

I vote for being able to change your 3 to allow for gifts and such. I'd also perhaps put a limit on how many changes you can make to weed out people who might play the system. Not accusing anyone of course but just to keep it fair so you don't have people who make one change and people who make 20 changes.

I'd say if you acquire one of the games that is or used to be on your list, that should basically be 'locked in' as in you'd have to mark it as received and then just continue on like you bought it (since it's still the game you wanted and the only thing that changed is that you now don't have to spend as much money.

At least that's how I'm gonna handle it.

Bioshock Infinite - 60/81 - Just need 10 more (50/60) blue ribbons for the last trophy in the Clash in the Clouds DLC then I'll be moving on to the Burial at Sea Episode 1 and 2.

Razing Storm 24/44 - Reached level 50 and earned the "Jack of All Trades" trophy.  Now I just need to kill 1,700/7,650 enemies, play 157/750 matches, and reach prestige 3.

Rocket League - 46/63 - The grind continues with no signs of a painted item :P

I know i'm a bit late cuz the daily post digest is late since a few days but anyways i'm happy that the vote goes for changing the 3 allowed games here :)

It's a very good thing since i don't plan on a large scale to buy any (PS3) game... of course i have several games i'd like to get when i have a PS4, but that's another story :D

I throw in a little Update :)

Not much cuz GTA Online needs a hell lot of time and so is Dante's Inferno :(

GTA 5 (27%--> 38%)... at last got some online trophies... two of five heists done :D

Crysis 3 (27%--> 36%)... some more online trophies :D though this one is difficultier, more PvP needed :(

Dragon's Crown (44%--> 47%)... second playthrough done, unlocked infernal :D

Dante's Inferno (98%)... only 3 of 25 SP trials left :D ... and then i go for the 2P trials

UPDATE TIME AGAIN Y'ALL

_______________________

I just finished rewriting all you guys' games lists into the initial post. It looks a whole shit load different. Feel free to say no to this and I'll throw it back to how it was, however, this is a shit load easier for me. The percentages and shit thing has been completely removed, there's too many numbers and I'm lazy. Right now it's basically been scaled back to shit you've done, shit you're doing, and shit you're gonna do in terms of games. Feel free to keep posting your percentages in the comments, please do, I'm actively following them, but they're out of the main post right now to give me some convenience and shit. Basically, what I've been doing is quoting all your posts and copying that directly into the main post, but this makes the formatting look like a bag of shit and some lists get stuck into other ones and it just sucks, that's why I rewrote out the whole lists then. Anyway, if you guys really want the percentages back into the main post, then I will rewrite them into the thing too when I get time. Also, any updates for today have not been added, my laptop didn't want to connect to TAFE's WiFi today and I couldn't get online, I am sorry.

Anyway, ideally, this is how we will do it from now on.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, any fucking day, throw up whatever you want me to add into the main post THAT IS NEW. Please can we no longer reupload the entire list, as I said before, quoting and shit, the formatting just looks awful and yeah. So if you could just say "I beat GTA IV, throw that in the completed pile now, cock breath" to me, that would be a lot easier, you get me? Because it's not going to be as complicated as quoting 3 or 4 people at a time and dragging and dropping a bunch of things into different tabs and having them not go and then sometimes double post and get lost in the wrong spoiler bubble and shit, because all of that's gone now, I'll update the original post whenever I'm online, instead of just when I have a solid half hour to kill at school. Okay? Good? I hope it's good.

Now, now that that's all out of the fucking way, I hope to start actually responding to people's posts and I hope to try to keep a conversation going with you guys, because that's what forums are for and whatnot, plus ever since this became the main thing I do on this site I've stopped talking in as many threads as I used to and it sucks. So that.

FINALLY, prizes and shit. Obviously I'm not gonna go out of my way to buy games for strangers who didn't buy games when the whole thing was started to make sure I don't waste money on games, but I do have a bunch of random crap land my way from time to time. I have a buttload of Xbox codes if that's of use to any of you, which I know, it probably isn't. PlayStation wise it's mostly PSN credit top ups, I get a fair few of them from time to time for doing quick little online surveys and shit, usually they're only 10 bucks though, but free money is the best money. The point of this post here, is to say to you guys, that you can nominate what you want them to be handed out for. Like, obvious stuff like most platinums earned and least money spent are obvious, but come up with something cool, like, I don't know "Most money spent on useless shit like KFC that would have otherwise been spent on games" or something, I'll leave that to you guys, otherwise it's just gonna be the obvious shit I said before.

Anyways, my child is waking up now, good day people!

UPDATE TIME AGAIN Y'ALL

_______________________

For me it's ok the way it's now, there was never a necessity of keeping our diary on the first post..

Said that I will continue to post my diary once a week in the same format that I used to do (to keep myself organised..) and my every 2 days game updates. I will just thrown in a note for you with what changes you need to do to my info on the first post when there are changes to it.

As for my update..

Since I got the platinum in Ni no Kuni I have been a bit aimless, downloading tons of games to my current PS3 while playing some already started games.. (and checking or catching up on some anime series..)

I finely got to max lvl on Race the Sun, fun game even if a bit addictive (and on the decently hard side to 100%..), it's something that I will play once in a while working towards that 100%..

I also found a boost session for Street Fighter x Tekken on PS3 and decided to give a hand, and finely finish the online portion of that game... After that I ended up giving a try to some challenges and now I have 10 of the 20 challenges clear on PS3 and 6 of the 20 challenges clear on the Vita..

And I'm still not sure of what I will play next.. maybe GTA5 or Thief on PS3, since I have been borrowing both of those games for quite a while now..

As for changes to the 1st post:

Please add to the "Games Played":

Race the Sun (PS3/PS4/PSV)

Street Fighter x Tekken (PS3)

Street Fighter x Tekken (PSV)

I'm totally fine with the new formatting, you might want to change something in my list since it looks a little confusing. You should leave a paragraph between the console sections in my list and/or use bold text for the section names. I feel this would make it look a lot more organized.

Also, I think I do have some ideas for the prize criteria:

Have the least started games.

Have the least finished games.

Finish every game that you have started (if possible).

Have the most diverse selection of game genres (finished games).

Have the least diverse selection of game genres (finished games).

Don't touch your DLC allowance.

Finish a game of a genre that you usually don't play.

Finish the longest game (in terms of plat time).

Finish the hardest game.

Be lucky (1 participant is randomly selected).

Finish the oldest game. (remakes/-masters do or don't count, your decision).

That's all for now, I might post some more ideas later if I think of some nice ones.

*snip*

Whatever makes your life easier, it can be a pain to update everyone's own little thing! :) Thanks for doing this.

Just one thing, can you change my "games played" to "games playing"? Those are in progress for me. Much appreciated!

Okay, so my world of Playstation has sort of been stopped by Pokemon Go lately. I've been going outside, walking a few miles or so, which is nice!

I have gotten a few more trophies in Minecraft, but the Nether keeps kicking my butt, 'cause I suck. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Okay, so my world of Playstation has sort of been stopped by Pokemon Go lately. I've been going outside, walking a few miles or so, which is nice!

I have gotten a few more trophies in Minecraft, but the Nether keeps kicking my butt, 'cause I suck. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lately I've been wanting to try out Pokemon Go but my ancient android tablet won't run it and it's not even out yet where I live. :P

Also if you are having trouble in the Nether a few general tips would be to bring bow and arrows, at least iron armor, lots of food, an iron sword, some backup wood in case your tools break and another flint and steel to reignite your portal in case a ghast hits it with a fireball.

Use the bow to deal with ghasts, leave zombie pigmen completely alone (otherwise all other zombie pigmen will become aggressive and they hit like a truck), build little rows of blocks with 2 blocks of air underneath them so wither skeletons can't get you in nether fortresses and don't engage blazes when they are charged up and ready to fire, keep them at a distance and evade their shots at any cost to escape the lethal fire damage.

It is also really useful, and I can't stress this enough, to enchant your armor and weapons, especially your bow. even low level enchantments will give you a large boost in survivability and building a grinder around a monster spawner in the overworld will give you enough EXP to get level 30 enchants on your weapons relatively quickly.

Once you kill some blazes and find some netherwart in a nether fortress you should hunt some magma slimes or combine slime balls with blaze powder to get magma cream and brew some fire resistance potions.

They basically make you immortal against blazes, which will be your main point of interest next to nether warts.

I hope this could help you a little. :)

July 12 Update

Quick update on this Tuesday night. I've only been playing the new Doom and I think it's fantastic. Really happy they got the frenetic pace and speed down. Being able to quickly cycle through weapons, the BFG and the chainsaw while dealing with large hordes of demons is tremendous fun. Probably a spoiler but just killed the Cyberdemon! More updates to follow.

I just clocked Spidey 2 on PSP again. PSP is fan fucking tastic when you've got a baby and school, all those 5 minute sessions stack up pretty quick. Next on my PSP list is Lego Star Wars 2 and Warriors.

I mean,  Warriors on PSP is the same game as the new PS4 re-release, and it doesn't cost me 23 ridiculous dollars either.

2 things,

1. Is the new Doom good? I keep hearing conflicting things and don't know what to buy into, I downloaded the demo but never got around to playing it, probably should if it's still up, think they were taking it down at some point.

2. Can you just write what stuff is new in your next posts that isn't in the main list? Sorry, I know we were doing one thing and now I'm changing it, but it's just so much easier and it looks so much better in the main list than me quoting you and dragging and dropping text all over the place every time. Cheers!

Alright guys, sorry I don't quote you directly anymore, or two often at least, most of my responses can really be applied to everyone so I don't feel the need. Anyway, in terms of prizes, I was gonna ask how you guys wanted to do it. Buying a lot of PSN vouchers to give away to winners of a challenge built on me not spending money on game stuff seems kind of counter intuitive, so realistically I'm probably only gonna have 4 or 5 of the things to throw away, which leads into the next bit. I was gonna say that everyone should come up with one category on their own that we can all be compared, like biggest completed backlog, most trophy level progress, biggest dick size, etc. but if there's not that many prizes to hand out having so many things seems kind of illogical, so I was going to suggest a point system...? Like, off the top of my head, let's say completing a game's story mode (which is what I'm gonna be trying to do mostly) should be worth 1 point, completing the story mode of a game you hadn't played before (because half the stuff I play I've clocked ten times already) should be worth 2, platinum'ing a game should be worth 5, doing all the DLC should be another point or like half a point for every DLC pack you do or something, you get the idea? What do you guys think? Also, I know there's no real way to prove what we've played in the case there's no trophies (I'm gonna be playing a LOT of PSP games) and I could upload my saves if I really wanted but, I'm gonna just assume and hope since there's not too much to really gain, that all of us can be trusted to not fibberjib on our lists.

Ah shit, I used the wrong too. If I edit the post it will be known that I wrote the wrong thing, but if I just write this at the bottom it acknowledges that I know I fucked up, but couldn't be bothered hiding the evidence. Shit, either way I lose!

Also, while I'm here, Assassin's Creed Unity is $2.80 for Xbone and the bargains are hard to fight.

I like the point system idea and I think that there won't be anyone faking their points since they would basically only be lying to themselves and this event is such a small community that I think we can trust each other.

So I guess I will be adding points/possible points to every game on my larger updates.

Also, could we we add a clause for games that don't really have a story or trophies? For example something like SC:GO where the main thing you'll be doing is playing the game for lot's of hours.

We could do something like 40 hours = 1 point, maybe. Otherwise such games would be pretty much useless in those terms. This would also help with really long games, where it will take you more than a hundred hours to even exhaust the games content like Skyrim or the Final Fantasy games. You normally wouldn't want to quit those after the story is done since there's so much more to do after that even if you aren't going for the plat.

And what's up with those crazy deals you get. :o Is that an Australian thing or do you have some secret sources? :P

A point system sounds nice, but admittedly my input is a little self-serving, I plan to complete lots of little/episodic games this year. Guess it's just as well I get dinged for joining late, haha. The new way is great, actually. Saves a bunch of time in not formatting spoiler and bold tags on my phone :D

I figured it's high time I catch up with all the old Telltale games I bought ages ago for like a dollar. And now that I've started I'm kicking myself for not playing them sooner. Tales of Monkey Island is an amazing little gem and I'm sorry I missed out on it until now, it's hilarious and piratey and insanely charming. It was a little jarring at first, though, having just recently platted Day of the Tentacle, to hear prototypical nerd Bernard's voice as the snarky hero Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate . Hoagie came back too.

So. Anyway. I completed the rest of those episodes 100%, I chipped away some more at Smart As... (even got a new high score of 95%, naturally after the servers are down and I can't be bumped up the leaderboards) and played more Star Ocean 5. Got some more trophies, earned more than 50% of the battle trophies just playing the game normally... it's way easier than Star Ocean 4. Which kind of makes me want to cry when I think about trying to 100% it again on PS3 this time.

Also I've already 100%ed it a long time ago but I played Skyrim with my grandpa for several hours on Monday. Helped him get past a couple of glitchy quests on his file and do enough pickpocketing to buy the 100-extra-weight limit perk and also the heavy-armor-weighs-nothing perk.

Edit: To make myself feel better about missing out on new games and deals I'm going to keep a running total of Money Not Spent. So far for PS systems I've not spent $100 on Dex (PS4),

Kerbal Space Program (PS4), and

Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS-Force (Vita). I didn't even know KSP was coming out on console! Very want! :<

Watching my dad play the new Doom in the evenings, it's ridiculously fast paced and intense. I'll definitely be starting it up myself at some point, the campaign is actually quite meaty and it's pretty well paced from arena to arena. Tons of secrets, too. Just don't stop moving! Have no idea about the multiplayer though, neither of us ever bother with it.

Progress:

Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 2: The Siege of Spinner Cay (PS3)

Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 3: Lair of the Leviathan (PS3)

Okay, so my world of Playstation has sort of been stopped by Pokemon Go lately.

Same with me. I haven't earned a trophy in like a week!

There could be a prize for most backlog games platinumed/completed.

We could figure something out for games like CS:GO, I'm in the same kind of boat, I play offline bot Call of Duty with the girlfriend for a few hours at least every couple days and there's no way to prove that or anything, but I didn't think much of it, but I guess it would come down to what everyone feels okay with doing.

As for the deals, I just keep my eye out man, this is AC http://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/games/assassin-s-creed-unity-xbox-one... it's $2.66 if you like their Facey page too, 5% off. As for the Xbox games, they were just in a clearance bin at the Cash Converters store I was in. I actually made it out of the store without buying a single thing, a rarity for me, but then I saw the clearance bin and had to have a look. There was plenty of good shit in there I already had though, Spidey Shattered Dimensions, Infamous 2, Minecraft 360, GTA IV and all it's episodes, and so on, all for a buck each. Kinda bummed Red Dead wasn't in there, would have loved that on the 360, dem backward compatibilities yo.

Skyrim (PS3)

Just for fun.

With Skyrim, is it too late to get in? Is it worth getting the old gen version? Is it worthwhile without mods? Will I like it, considering everyone who liked it loved Fallout 4 and that bored me to death? I saw it on 360 in Cashies today for 6 bones, and that's one of the games that work on the Xbox One, I was tempted, and had I not been trying to not buy shit I'd have grabbed it any other day because 6 bucks is 6 bucks.

Also Smart As, how are you finding that? I actually quite enjoyed it, felt like a Brain Training knock off for Vita, which makes sense because it kind of was, they still want like 30 bucks for it here in the 2 stores that still stock Vita, and like, if the game was a pack in it would be awesome, but it's not worth a penny over 10 bucks in my opinion. Screwing around with Skyhook was pretty tedious too but not a nightmare, have you got the online trophies, can you still get them anymore at all? Are there even online trophies? I remember something where I had to mess with the GPS system to cheat it, but not sure if they were online anymore. Oh well.

______________________

I bought another game today. I KNOW I'M SORRY I AM ACTUALLY TRYING BELIEVE IT OR NOT. In my defense, it's something I wanted for a while but never saw in person and was always going for way more than it was worth online, and that is Guitar Hero 5 for PS2. On PS3 it's everywhere, no trouble finding a copy, but a few years back I ditched all my PS3 Guitar Heroes in favor of picking them up again on PS2 so I could stick with my good old Guitar Hero II guitar instead of having a different one for the older Guitar Heroes and a Rock Band one and then a newer Guitar Hero one and so on, plus my Rock Band guitar broked and I was sad. Anyway, I have Aerosmith, GH 1, 2, 3, World Tour, Band Hero, Greatest Hits, Metallica, 80s, Rock Band 1, RB song pack 1 & 2, AC/DC Rock Band, and I'm probably forgetting a few, and now I have GH 5 as well. The only one I think I'm missing is Van Halen, which I used to have on PS3 and you never see on PS2, and online it's like a ridiculous price so shit, it's particularly annoying since it's selling for a tenner on PS3 anywhere, but whatever. I know there's the Beatles and shit but I don't really want that at all, I want all the GHs, but as far as Rock Band goes, I prefer that series, but since a lot of it is exclusive to PS3 I'm not too fussed. Anyway, in short

I really want GH 5 for PS2, and I don't think I'll ever see it again any time soon. So there goes 3 bucks.

Which leads to my next point, I think, since I'm obviously far too late to finish this challenge without spending a dime, that I might re-evaluate and instead aim to just keep within the 20 dollar  and 3 game budget, if I can pull that, I'm still holding back a shit load, I might splurge a bit when the challenge ends, and then try again next time with full intention on buying anything at all. That Assassin's Creed Xbone game for $2.66 is getting harder and harder not to buy.

Keep going everyone, you guys are doing great so far :D

Although I'm not taking part in this officially, it has made me think twice about impulse buying games and I havnt spent any hard earned pennies on games since my post on the first page - how long that will last though goodness knows lol!

Well, at least the places I visit every once in a while only have bullshit in their clearance bin. Once when I was in a Mediamarkt (basically German shop for all kinds of electric things including a large games/console section) they had like 50 copies of Invizimals for the Vita and they still were 5€ each. :P

But I would have probably taken AC:U over Guitar Hero for personal reasons, though I still need to play through Brotherhood, Revelations and AC3. I still got those in my backlog.

But since I don't own a current gen console, I'm not really in danger of spending any money on that any time soon.

Skyrim is pretty much the game I'd pick if someone told me that I could only play a single game for the rest of my life. Can't say I like it more or less than Fallout 4 since I didn't play that but I do like it more than Fallout 3.

And for the mods part I'd say if you are fine with games looking dated (It's really not that bad in my opinion) you don't really have to worry about mods. I played through the game with 5 different spending around 320 hours of playtime and only then I started to try out mods for the first time. Most of them are useless things to make the game look a little prettier (or a lot, like good enough my computer won't even bother with it and probably just shut down or something...) or are there for a little laugh or bringing your favorite fandom into the game (for example Naruto jutsus as spells, or Dark Slouls armor/weapons). Most of them are terribly unbalanced but there are a few useful ones, though not useful enough to make it worth it in my opinion. The only notable examples of good mods were a mod that's basically as big as a whole DLC and let's you enter a fanmade Highrock (I think) and an upcoming mod of some German team basically creating their own game on the Skyrim engine.

But you might wanna check if it's the GotY edition, since the DLC are actually worth it in this game, both the content DLCs Dragonborn and Dawnguard as well as the housing DLC Hearthfire are nice additions to the game and especially Dragonborn has a large amount of content. Dragonborn and Hearthfire are literally the only two DLCs I ever bought and that should mean something.

And the only thing that will be special about the Skyrim Special Edition will be the graphics and console availability for PS4 and Xbone.

Also, it's pretty funny that the one who is doing worst right now is the creator of the challenge. :D

You gotta stop looking for discounts. At this rate you are gonna spend 100 bucks before the end of the challenge and that's without counting the 3 games. :P

I actually picked up Invizimals on PSP with the camera brand new in box for a dollar ages ago. Tossed the game, actually traded it for like 2.50 (icing on the cake), the camera is actually pretty nifty and I use it every now and then for the fun of it just like the good old Game Boy Camera, sure, it's image quality can't hold a candle to my phone, but it's still so cool.

Also I bought AC. I technically bought it for the girlfriend, so it's a gift, but really, eh.

I might see if any friends still have Skyrim on 360 and boot it up some time. I played a bit of it on PS3 in the day but not much and spread over a fair few months whenever a friend came over and wanted to play it basically.

Anyway, man, I don't go looking for bargains, but if I find them I can't look away. I don't mind picking up cheap shit frequently, the only problem really is when I pick up something that's like 25 or more and then never play it. That's what I REALLY need to stop doing. Too many games already, but that doesn't seem to stop me. I don't go wasting my money necessarily, since eventually I'll play them, but I'm an incredibly cheap person, like even with Assassin's Creed there, I hit like on their page (and then unlike) to get the code to save a whole 14 cents. So I'm cheap, but I give into temptation way too easily when it comes to games, that's what I'm trying to cut back on with this challenge.

I got my Xbox probably a month or so ago right, and I'll go into how much I've spent, just for the sake of it. For reference, EB is currently selling a PREOWNED Xbox 500gb for 328, and a new one with a game or two (cheap games mind you) will set you back 400. I got

An Xbox One console + controller.

A Star Wars themed controller.

Alan Wake

Assassin's Creed: Unity

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Dark Souls

Fallout 3

Gears of War

Gears of War 2

Halo Reach

Halo: Master Chief Collection

Joy Ride Turbo

Just Cause 2

Limbo

Minecraft

Rare Replay

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Sunset Overdrive

Rainbow Six Vegas

Rainbow Six Vegas 2

The Lego Movie

and The Witcher 2

For $354.47. And the console was 275 of that, so take that, and 25 for the remote off, you've got 54 dollars for 21 games, not counting things like the Halo collection which has 4 games in it, that's just over $2.50 for each game and some of them, like Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty are only a year or two old and still regularly selling for over 50 dollars PREOWNED in places like EB Games.

I can't help it man, the cheap skate in me just loves getting a good deal.

I should also say I've never done anything for 14 cents before, and I honestly only did it so I could use it as a point in this post to prove how cheap I am, although here's a better example, I was in Dominos the other day picking up a pizza for the girlfriend on my way home and decided I wanted one for myself, and went to order a 5 buck margherita because I object to paying 12 bucks for their tiny little pizzas of the ones I like, and anyway, it had gone up to 5.95, then I found out if I ordered online it would have still been 5 bucks, and I was genuinely a little annoyed about it. Like, I waste my money on shit all the time, I spent 30 bucks on a shirt being made up with a picture of Steve Buschemi on it for a friend for a joke yesterday, so it's not like I don't spend money, but I just like to feel I'm getting my money's worth, if that makes sense?
