That's not the point. I'm talking about when it was within the 25$ price range. Everything gets a price drop somewhere down the road.

*Looks at the prices of squares mobile ports*. Yeah sure, if you want to believe that from square enix xD xD xD xD They love to overcharge on everything and refuse to drop prices on digital goods

Seriously though, it disappoints me that after dropping nearly $100 dollars on a game the developer is potentially offering content outside of what I paid for. This is not how you repay fans who opted to support you in purchasing CEs.

Oh...kay?

Don't feed the trolls.

Does these.. Season pass content have trophies?

It's too early to tell, but the story DLC in FF13-2 and the add-ons in FF14 didn't get trophies.

if not for that i would not have bought the game at all as there is no "complete" edition. yes i have missed some good games because of it i wont deny that but i can still gamefly them, also season passes do not normally drop in price.

You people are acting this is some kind of crime against gaming. You know Final Fantasy XV alone will be worth the money and will have hundreds of hours worth of content. The DLC will only add more to that. You should be happy that SE even plans on supporting the game at all after release. They didn't do anything at all for Final Fantasy XIII after that released.

Funny how everyone is hating on the season pass idea before its details of any DLC is even revealed. I get it if you didn't get the season pass with the CE version, but nobody expected a season pass when they hit that purchase button, no?

I personally don't mind, lots of games do this recently. I'm only getting World of Final Fantasy at Day One anyways so i will look forward to this ^_^

Square sees the writing on the wall. They know XV will be a hit with the biggest fans, but that this base has shrunk amazingly. Thus, they'll bilk them for all it's worth.

I do feel bad for people who bought a CE or whatnot without knowing that more content was on the way. Why didn't they just sell the CE for a little more, and ensure that ALL content was being purchased?

But for the lot of you, BUY BUY BUY! I need fanboys to drop their dimes, so I can pick this up for peanuts a few months later.

on a slightly unrelated note, I do worry about the FFVII remake, especially with their decision to make FFVII "episodic".

just imagine... $59.99 for each of the 3 (or whatever number of "episodes") parts, $149.99 for the entire thing with "$30 discount" when everything comes out.

...

...ehem. back on topic. I do hope their DLC is closer to Witcher 3 than Fallout 4 in terms of content and quality for money.

JRPG with season pass... now I have seen everything...

Can SE make FFXV even more western now?

Kinda ironic you say this because Japanese companies like Capcom and co. tend to be the best at trying to scam and milk the ever living day light out of their consumers.

Great, now even JRPGs are getting onto the Season Pass bandwagon. As if we hadn't had enough with the fighting games, now JRPGs have it too.

It's official, then: the whole of the industry is contaminated. Good thing I decided to just start waiting for the price to come down on games, otherwise, this would have started to become a very expensive hobby (well, more so than it already is :P ).

Eh season passes aren't inherently bad if they're descriptive of their content/are from a trustworthy dev like CDPR

People expect collector's editions to come with the season passes these days?

It's actually poor business for Square not to sell the season pass with their CE. If people arewilling to pay an inflated price for the trinkets, that's also the time to milk them for the DLC. It's safe money for them then. The fact is, they could have raised the price of the CE by $25, told everyone that the DLC was included, and the purchaser's would lap it up.

Hundreds of hours? Hyperbole. With the (possible) exception of the MMORPGs, no FF title has yielded hundreds of hours of gameplay, even to full completion. The most recent console releases haven't even come close (unless you count leaving your machine on night after night hoping to win big in 13-2's terrible casino game.

Meh. I long ago stopped buying into Square's re-release philosophy (even when the re-releases promised much more gaming).

I wouldn't buy it at full price anyway. Thankfully, though I won't have to.

You definitely should! That's the FF we all want :D

Sadly, since this game seems like such a slam dunk, I'm wondering how Square will screw it up.

I mean, they're already making a killing off of the "trinkets". They can just charge the same people for it on the side for more and still make money. Either way, people are going to complain so they probably figured this was the easiest route.

...people will get mad about anything. If you don't like the season pass, don't buy it. If you do, buy buy buy. I'll personally profit either way.

I take umbrage with your assertion we'll "get mad about anything," as if saying this will completely delegitimize the concerns we have. Thanks for the strawman though.

I paid $100 for the deluxe collector's edition. It was billed as the definitive FF XV experience for those who couldn't afford the nearly $185 "ultimate edition." What I mean to say is, people like me paid additional money for a product, and now we're being told there will be even more content beyond what we paid for. If my stance still seems ridiculous to you

Get back to me after getting the platinum for FFX. The plat alone will net you somewhere in the realm of 120+ hours, maybe a bit less if you use the Tonberry glitch. I easily dumped 100 hours into Blitzball to make the perfect team and max out stats, in total logging around 200+ hours for the entire game.

So, hyperbole? Not necessarily.

I hate to continue this argument and further derail the topic of this thread but I don't think anyone is trying to "delegitimize" your concerns.  I think the issue lies with the concerns themselves.  Now, I'm not a game developer, publisher, or in anyway connected with the video game business world, but, I fully understand the DLC model and personally have no problems with it whatsoever.  When you say you paid $100 for a deluxe edition of this game, you're getting exactly what you paid for.  If the developer or publisher wants to add additional content to that, well, it cost money.  They have emplyoees, electric bills, water bills, etc.  I'm not trying to imply that you don't understand this but, that is the case.  As i have said in some of my previous post, games didn't always have DLC and no one blinked an eye.  Now, it's all the rage.  If i go to a restaurant and order a meal that cost, say, $10, that comes with a steak, two sides and a dinner roll i'd would be okay with that.  If the waiter/waitress asked if I wanted to add a side salad for $2.00, well that would be up to me if I wanted it or not.  Maybe the side salad came with it before but the owner said "hey, lets charge 2 bucks for the salad", well okay, his perogative right?  It is my belief that anyone who orders, pre-orders, or buys day one FFXV is getting the game Square set out to make.  It's only post-pre that they decided they have more to offer, or, have plans for more to offer and needs to charge for it.  The additional money you paid for the deluxe edition covered the blu-ray movie, the steel book, and the soundtrack, all of which cost them money, nothing more,  they can't just give stuff away for free, right?

Hit the nail on the head with this.

I've already said that Square should have just sold the whole shebang to you guys, but yes - your stance does seem ridiculous to me. You knew EXACTLY what your $100 bought you the moment you laid the money down. No one ever said that you bought all the DLC when you bought the CE.

I don't need to "delegitimize" your stance, because it has no legitimacy to begin with. No one had perpetrated a fraud on you. Your hundred dollars bought exactly what you knew it would buy - no more, no less. What - you thought the lobster was free with the purchase of filet mignon?

And yes - people will get mad over anything (on BOTH sides of this "debate"). Strawman? Again - present a legitimate concern if you want to accuse me of that.

LGet back to me after getting the platinum for FFX. The plat alone will net you somewhere in the realm of 120+ hours, maybe a bit less if you use the Tonberry glitch. I easily dumped 100 hours into Blitzball to make the perfect team and max out stats, in total logging around 200+ hours for the entire game.

So, we're to cite plat times to determine game content? Star Ocean: The Last Hope now has 500 hours of content because you need to kill 60,000 enemies and get 255 drops of an item when you can only hold 20 at max? That's a pretty low bar. Can I claim that Hannah Montana has 100 hours of gameplay because I really like riding that horse around?

I've had enough of this threaf, so feel free to have the last word. But I re-iterate - getting hot and bothered over this, either way, is silly, IMHO. But at least many of the people dislike the season pass on principle. Your entire premise seems to be based on the fact that you want something for nothing. Again - you knew exactly what was on offer when you purchased the CE.

1) I don't know how else to take "people will get mad about anything," regardless of whether crunch felt SE should have included the DLC for CE purchasers or not. It was a dick thing to say.

2) I take issue with the emboldened part. If we're getting the game SE set out to make we wouldn't be told about extra content after we've already purchased the CE. The game I'll be receiving at launch obviously isn't the game Square set out to make; rather, the true version won't be available until the remaining episodes are released, which indicates they'd been working on said content for some time and could have thus included it in the game but chose to refrain from doing so in order to squeeze extra money out of consumers. This isn't a decision they just recently made, as evidenced by the episodic content; it's been part of their strategy all along, and that's disheartening.

3) Sure they can (regarding DLC). CD Projekt Red did.

So, we're to cite plat times to determine game content?

Can I claim that Hannah Montana has 100 hours of gameplay because I really like riding that horse around?

I've had enough of this threaf, so feel free to have the last word.

1) Reread my post, because I cited Blitzball as another reason as to why you can log upwards of 200 hours on FFX. It's not necessary to max your blitz team's stats and create the perfect squad to attain the platinum.

2) Another strawman. You're on a roll!

3) Thanks! Have a great fucking day.
