Is this game stupidly hard or am I just crap?

I jumped on this game when I saw the high platinum percentage but I gotta say this game is stressing me out.

I've max leveled two cops but the last mission in the casino is breaking me.  The survive 2.5 minutes thing is crap on normal let alone on nightmare.  Given the high rate of achievement on this plat I feel like I am doing something wrong, like it's not supposed to be this hard.

I also found this game incredibly frustrating when I was going for the platinum so your not alone :) I would suggest that you try and learn where the enemies are positioned throughout the level and also see if you can hide against a wall but still manage to shoot them as that can give you some good kills and stop you from getting killed yourself as this also helped me quite a lot. I would also say that getting your hands on an Assault Rifle is perhaps the best thing you can do as that will kill the enemies in one/two shots which is also a good way to help your ammo go further. I would also have to say that you should really try and learn how to play the game without the lock on feature as it is unavailable in Nightmare Mode and it can just make it even more frustrating when your reach Nightmare Mode. That's what happened to me and I had a harder time with the platinum than I should have done.

Lastly, don't stress or rage at it. If you find it's doing those two things to you, then just come back to it later or watch a couple of videos and you will find that you will do it! :D I'm awful at these sorts of game so if I can do it, then you'll definitely be able to do it! Good Luck! :)

I did the same mistake with the thinking of the high plat percentage. Gave up on it. I try all the possible strategies s and hints but only to fail every time. The game did teach me something.....do some research and don't get fooled by the high % completion.

Best advice I can give you is to use the direction of the camera to aim, not either of the analog sticks. I got through all difficulty levels by making sure the camera was aimed straight and in the direction of whatever enemy I wanted to kill. This made it much easier to overcome what is either poor collision detection or just an artificially high difficulty. If there are many enemies that rush you, like on the last level, use the camera to track and shoot them. Trying to fine-tune the actual aiming reticle or character position will just get you killed.

I couldn't even finish the last level on normal. I felt so bad for not being able to. Glad I'm not alone, this gives me the confidence to pick up the game again and finish it.
I heard that there is a glitch with the first level on nightmare as well, that you can be instantly killed there, but after that it gets better?
Hopefully when I fully upgrade the second cop it'll get better.

The last level is easy if you follow these tips

1. Get both cops leveled up and with auto rifle

2. Make sure you enter the last scene with both cops having auto rifles

3. Ignore the slot machines and go around clearing all enemies and picking up revive packs

4. After clearing the room and breaking the slot machines keep back at the spawn point let the boss run to you, stand behind the slot machines the waves of the enemies will then always come from North West or north east.

After each time you kill a wave the boss will always run to you and can be shot easy.

Hope this helps

I suck at this game too. (Much like its cousin Hotline Miami).

I've been trying to play the game not with max stats, sort of doing a level or two, getting stuck, grinding away for stats (a bit) and then finally passing the tricky level.

Ive found smashing the doors off the hinges is often a good thing, i often retreat backwards through them, leading the goons into a trap. (Partner just waiting with an assault rifle!)

Yeah the partner AI aint great but it isnt totally disfunctional.

The game is difficult and I’m not sure why the trophy guide is a 4/10 it should be a 6-7 the A.I in the first three levels one hit you on Nightmare I did the first three levels on Nightmare trying to do it on the fourth level.

Plus that percentage is misleading.

Edit: I did level four without getting one hit KO, this will be doable I did it on my second try.

Yeah I've been missing one trophy for six years on this game and that's for beating the nightmare levels. It's stupidly hard. It ain't no 4/10 difficulty game I'll say that. I gave up on it.

When you get past level 1-3 it’s a cake walk from level 4-8. I did level four second try.

Just finished this game after having given up for 6 years. It was grueling, but I found out you can't simply gun-and-run or spray-and-pray on Nightmare. Also, does anyone else find that Hardcore mode is easier than Normal?

Tips for those who're going for the Platinum trophy:

  • Don't worry about using the "summon a cop" feature, it's useless and I literally just went on a 1-man killing spree until that one died and utilized his/her partner to revive and finish the job
  • You can shoot a couple of rounds close to the enemy on the other side of a wall to alert them of your location (marked by !) and bait them around a corner. If you stand on an angle where they can't see you and have to come around a corner to kill you, you can easily aim at the door, hold fire with an AR and kill the enemies without a single damage to you
  • Arresting when the enemy is close to a door that you're about to breach is viable. If the enemy is hit by the door that you breach using L2, then they're temporarily stunned which is also useful. Makes it a "stealth" move as long as other enemies aren't in the same room literally watching it go down lol.
  • Try to keep the AR for both of your cops for as long as possible, but inevitably, you may run out of ammo when enemies are only using shotguns and submachine guns on earlier levels. Do not be afraid to switch to one of those options, but remember, the guns you have will carry over to the next floor/area at the start and can't be reset unless you reset the whole level.
  • Use free-aim feature as it's much more easier to control where you're shooting. It helps to turn on enemies that try to catch you off-guard behind you. It also helps when you're running backwards down a hallway/corridor and shoot at enemies coming at you.
  • If your partner is dead, try to revive him after killing all criminals before moving on to the next level as he'll spawn with whatever gun he had last, and it's most likely an AR which will come in handy on the next level/area. If you have to move on to the next area as there are no med-kits available, then they will start out with a pistol for the next area/floor.
  • For the timed areas in certain levels, simply stay in the elevator to fend off waves of enemies. What I did was as soon as the initial spawn enemies were all taken down, I hid in the elevator except for when waves of enemies were coming (usually 2-4 criminals), when I would pre-shoot the area by tapping the button to "burst fire" and they wouldn't have the range to get me with their shotguns or submachine guns.
  • Finally, don't kill the hostages when you have the "rescue" missions or timed missions like I did. It will reset the WHOLE level and you'll have to start from the beginning.
  • If you're having a bit of trouble, consult this random video that helped me to complete the game (not mine):
