Popular Post CJ_Mystery
Period 1, Day 2: Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories This is the only trophy I got in the two and a half hours of grinding. I did manage to get another enemy card though. Just need Red Nocturne and I'm done. (I know those enemies show up in other floors but the more grinding I do in Floor 1, the less time I have to worry about grinding for cards. I already hit the limit of map cards in this session.) I do intend to fight the boss and leave the floor before the end of this game's period.
Popular Post MidnightDragon
I have 100% my first game, so here's my review. This is one of my favorite PSN titles. Even though it was made by Ubisoft, the feel is very indie. It's a beautiful tribute to JRPGs. While the story is nothing groundbreaking, the dialogue is written in poetry. It may sound annoying, but it really works here. The artwork and music are both quite gorgeous. Most of your party members are pretty memorable, though the last one I could've done without if not for the trophy. She's bratty and not all that useful. I only used her once to try her out, then switched back to my regular party members. Also, don't bother with the DLC character. You don't need him to complete or 100% the game and he's pretty useless. My main complaint is that it ends too soon and, as you can see, it's easy to complete quickly. The X1 version had a longer achievement list, though most of those are present as uPlay challenges. Another annoyance is you have to play the PlayStation 3 version of this game offline because the last patch introduced a glitch where the game is EXTREMELY laggy to the point of being almost unplayable. If you disconnect from PSN, there's still occasional lag, but not horrible. The PS4 version doesn't have this problem. As far as I know, neither does the Vita version. If I ever get a Vita, I'll totally 100% this game again. I enjoy it that much. I remember Ubi had once said that there would be more games in this universe, but nothing came of it. Hopefully one day they'll come back to it and it'll be as good as this game, if not better. CJ_Mystery
Period 1, Day 3: Didn't get very far because I am in a lousy mood, but at least I got to Floor 2 in Castle Oblivion. I am worried that I am not enjoying this game as much as in the past but I do intend to platinum it!
Oobedoob S Benubi
I haven't played more Knack since the first half hour, and I find myself not committed to continuing on it. I spent my gaming hour yesterday playing more Elite: Dangerous, which turned into eight hours of playing (decided to call it quits on four A.M.). Today I had people over, we went to an arcade hall and played some table top games afterwards. Tomorrow I have a deadline so I probably won't game at all, and that's the first four days of the event done. Glad I said I'd only do ten games. Metal Slime King
In case anyone was concerned I picked two quick games to start the event, I started up Street Fighter 4 yesterday. That should keep my completion down for the remainder of the month. I'm not going to do a review for it because it sure is more Street Fighter and it wasn't on my list. I'll start Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry tomorrow. I've never actually played an AC game before so I guess I'll have a fresh perspective on the game. As I said I tend to get lost in open world games but we'll see how it goes. And congrats to @Hemiak for making such speedy progress on Downwell. I never got past Lv4. Popular Post Myu
Day 2 After defeating that Tomato monster, I went back to the city to realize that the doors had been shut for the new Consul's speech. Migelo, a Vangaa merchant who seems to be Vaan's father figure bribes the guards to let everyone in. The new Consul seems to be quite the friendly and humble type (I'm pretty sure that won't last long) and he wants to end the resentment people have towards the Empire that took control of the city two years ago. While everyone is entranced by the Consult's words, Vaan decides he wants to infiltrate the Palace and steal something à la Robin Hood. In order to do that, he needs a Sunstone, don't know why right now but I'm going to explore that desert. Even if I played for 3 more hours, I didn't progress much storywise because I was too busy exploring everything. Day 3 Today I did the exact opposite and progressed quite well through the story. I won't tell what happens in the game in details because I don't want to spoil anyone so I'll resume that in a short text : I went into the Palace and found a pretty stone, then I met Fran and Balthier and those two are awesome, as expected. Things went bad and I escaped through the now traditional sewers where I met Amalia (and she's not fooling anyone). I was caught again and I escaped again, this time from Nalbina dungeons where I met a new teammate (the twins story seems a bit far-fetched to me). After that I got to explore some more and discovered the huge list of gambits available. Finally, I gave the pretty stone to the old man and got to do an errand in return. Also, Penelo is nowhere to be seen. I still think the battle system is not dynamic enough and I get quite frustrated when I can't improve my equipment fast enough. Everything other than that is amazing and I'm quite enjoying this game. Trophies earned on Day 2 and 3 :
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
I'm going to anticipate "Day 4", seeing as I already finished the game I was playing and have nothing to add until my final summary on the 6th day. So instead of talking about Planet of the Apes, I'll give a final summary of a game I played in the previous KYC as I finished it a couple of days ago. Final Fantasy XV Back when I played it for the event I stopped at about 12 hours in. I picked it up recently again and by the time I reached the end it was close to 78 hours. I still stand to my initial assertion of it, in that it is a good game that has a few flaws. The world looks great as do the characters, even though the dungeons were a bit bland. The combat was great, but the AI of your partners was not well-optimized. It happened way too often that they would just be standing around. One of the best things about the game is that there are quests, which give you an objective to do and thus progress gradually while leveling up at the same time. As a result there's barely any grinding that's forced upon you in order to progress. That is something I've been wanting JRPGs to implement for years, as I can't get behind the philosophy of having to grind for hours just because the developers don't understand the concept of gradual progression in difficulty. The weakest part of the game is the voice-acting though. Anyone who isn't a main character has completely messed up lip sync, a really bad accent that doesn't fit into the game at all (looking at you Dino, for the worst Italian accent I've aver heard). Despite it's flaws, it was a game that I managed to play for 5-6 hours straight without getting bored by it which isn't something that happens all too often. Therefore I'll stick to my initial rating and give it a . Edited March 4, 2018 by voodoo_eyes
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #1: Catlateral Damage Final Impressions Time played: 12 hrs So I completed the game. Regarding the objective mode, I still found it an enjoyable play, even after running through multiple levels. Knocking crap over as a cat was just plain fun. Litterbox mode lets you play around in all the areas including bonus levels so that you can have fun without worrying about a timer. That said, without trophies ahead of me, it's probably going to be more entertaining to just play a bit here and there when I need a mindless fix. My son wants to play it so it's not getting deleted off my hard drive anytime soon. The time trial was quite challenging for me and can be more than a little luck based given the randomized layout and amount of destruction required. One of the bonus levels, however, is a perfect fit and with practice, is quite workable for this. Now the negatives, primarily relating to a few grind related trophies. You click square to meow, a necessity in a cat simulator one would think. The problem is that other than a sound, it doesn't add anything to gameplay. I didn't have an issue with a trophy for 100 meows but the one for 500 meows felt like pointless button mashing. If I wanted that, I would buy My Name is Mayo, but I haven't. The next is catching mice. This is a random event and while catching the mouse is not horribly difficult, getting the event to occur is tedious. In all my objective mode runs, I had the event pop 3 times. Since there is a trophy for catching 10 mice, this was problematic. Running several Litterbox modes and sitting waiting for an event q3 minutes and hoping that a mouse pops dragged out about 2.5 hrs. This will drive some people crazy as you can get it quickly or VERY slowly due to the randomness of it. Otherwise, it provided just the right amount of fun to start off this event even if my completion rate didn't suffer. Yet. Popular Post ladynadiad
Progress so far: Finished the routes for Hijikata, Souji, Saito, Heisuke and Harada along with the normal ending. Trophies earned: 16 out of 36 (33%) So pretty much this is a VN about a girl, Chizuru Yukimura, who leaves for Kyoto to search for her father and ends up seeing something she shouldn't one night along with nearly getting killed and the Shinsengumi end up taking her in. If anyone here has played the PS3 version, Stories of the Shinsengumi, this game is very similar. In fact, it is about the same overall plot as the PS3 game. The main difference here is a lot of added content. There are now 12 routes in total rather than 6 like the PS3 version. I haven't played any of the new routes yet, but they are up next. This game also introduces a few new characters, and three of them are among the people you can romance. It also does have added scenes for the characters who were around in the PS3 version. However, it doesn't have the full story the PS3 version has, that will come in the next game Edo Blossoms. So the stories end at the beginning of chapter 5 in the PS3 game, right as they are heading off to Edo and the next game will pick up there. Since I haven't played any of the new routes yet, I can't say how worth it they are. It is a bit of a downer that it's pretty much not a complete game, but Edo Blossoms is due to release this month so getting both will soon be easy enough. I do think it is the sort of game that is much more suited to the Vita than the PS3 because VNs are great to play on the go. Like any VN, it's pretty easy as long as you have a guide to refer to for the right choices to get to each romance route. Also unlike the PS3 version, the History of Service is also very useful to just skip right to the individual routes because it lets you set romance to high or low, which is also useful for a replay to get the bad and unrequted endings which are also needed for the plat, but if you are looking for the plat, it's best to start from chapter 1 and pick the right choices for the good endings since you'll miss CGs and encyclopedia entries. Obviously being a VN, it's an easy plat and it has a very high average completion to boot. Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #1: Rime (Day 4) I'll give a little update regarding my progress so far. I finished three areas so far, which should be more than the half of the game. If I understand the story correctly it's about the five phases of mourning. It seems that you lost your father, or any other close person, during a storm on a boat trip. I'm not really into the phases of mourning but you can see a few paralles between the game and mourning. Gameplay wise it still the same as at the beginning. The world is more or less linear with some hidden places where you can find one of the many collectables. So far I wasn't that hard to find them, althought I missed a few. You just have to explore thorooghly and you will find most. The puzzles seem to be on the same level of difficulty throughout the game. Nothing too hard yet but you still need to think about some of them. I was never stuck for too long though. I'll give a final impression on the last day. Time played: ~4h Trophies: 10/32 Edited March 4, 2018 by MarkusT1992

Popular Post Kevvik
Game #2: Rime Initial Impressions Time played: 4 hrs Rime is a 3rd person exploration/adventure game. You are a young boy who awakens on a beach of a mysterious island. Aside from an occasional "press circle/square/triangle" when you get close to an object which you can interact with, there is no intro or instruction. I like this, it gives it a much more realistic feel than somehow encountering a tutorial. I started just wandering around and exploring (a lot), though I had reviewed the trophy descriptions to try to catch anything which might be blatantly missable. There is a tower on the island that I think I need to get to but exploring around always seems to pay off better than just heading directly towards an obvious goal. I came across some pedestals with a variety of items, interacted with them, some appear to be collectible items but also found that one of the things triggered a light which would rush off into the distance to a stone platform and light one of four icons seated on the pedestal. Kept on exploring and finding little statues until all four were lit. Now a fox shows up so I follow it because it seemed the thing to do and it waits for me a little ways along on a regular basis. Along the way solve some puzzles, keep exploring more to look for hidden places, finding more collectibles along the way. Eventually worked my way to a dark underground area, through that and into a cut scene which dumps me in a different area entirely. Wow! Now, I take a break. So far, not really sure what's going on from a story perspective. Nothing so far to go on, really. The controls are simple and similar to most 3rd person adventure games and very responsive. Jump, climb, interact with things, pick things up and take them somewhere else to activate switches or similar puzzle mechanics. No combat that I have encountered yet though you can throw some items either to get them across gulfs or to influence animals. The game looks great, the music is soothing without being distracting and I really want to know what is going to happen next and what the heck is going on. I'll probably play a little more tonight. I'm really having fun exploring around and get unusually excited every time one of my sidetrack wanderings finds something else and then I start looking for another nook or cranny to work through before moving the "story" along and opening up new areas. Trophies earned: 10/32, 17% for D rank Score so far: 7/10
Popular Post ladynadiad
Progress: 100% completed So this is my final review since I finished the game earlier today. Overall, it was a good game, but I don't think there was enough new to even justify the $20 I paid for it, much less what it would have been upon release. If you haven't played the PS3 version though, it's worth it. I did like some of the new routes. Yamazaki and Iba's were really good and very heartwarming. I thought Yamazaki's also added a lot of nice fleshing out of how the Shinsengumi do things because we got some insight into how the Watch works and their role in the organization, which was non-existent in the PS3 version. In fact Yamazaki's is probably my overall favorite. Shinpachi's route really never felt like a romance, it always felt like more of a love between brother/sister, also I feel he's too much like Harada and Heisuke to need his own route so it was overly repetitive. Sanan's just felt wrong. Souma was okay as a character and his route was cute, but I was getting bored of the too many playthroughs by then. Sakamoto didn't interest me one bit and I completely skipped it. I also felt the changes to Kazama's route were good and it actually feels more like he is making some effort to court Chizuru and it makes him more likable as a character, plus I think it fleshed out the demons much better. Overall, most of the new routes were great and added something good to the plot. Even the not so great ones fleshed things out more and added something to make the overall experience better. But overall, I didn't think there really was enough new to justify getting this version if you've played the PS3 version. If you've not played any version, then yeah this and its sequel are going to be better just because there is more material and it does a better job really fleshing out the events and characters. But if you've played the PS3 version, wait for a sale or even for the game to show up on PS Plus. I also felt that 12 routes was a bit of overkill, especially with the common route being the majority of the game. Current stats: Games played: 88 Games completed: 75 Completion: 89.08% Unearned trophies: 265 So my completion now has actually gone up for the moment, of course that will change once I get into the longer games that I won't be able to finish in 5 days. Also, I'm actually going to swap the order up a bit. Since I need something to play on my Vita at work, I'm going to play Exist Archive next and Blue Reflection will be after that instead. I''d rather get started with one of the longer games earlier than go back to one of my incompletes when I won't have enough time to finish one of those before I'd have started Exist Archive. Edit: Just finished Journey which I had started last month and only had one trophy left in, so I ended up with a second completed game this month so far. Popular Post Metal Slime King
Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry (Initial Impressions) I went through the first two chapters or missions in this game today. While I appreciate that they dropped this game on ps+ presumably as an introduction to the Assassin's Creed series to suck you in, they certainly didn't originally make this dlc as an introduction. It seemed assumed going in that the player knew what was up and I most decidedly did not. I muddled through the naval battle and knew the general story of the series, people going back in time through memories of some assassin organization. It seems like a weird premise for why you can fail and "re-sync" and try again. It was cool the first mission could be played out two ways, boarding or destroying the enemy boat. After getting thrown into a battle with weird combat system I've never played I re-synced before the choice was made and blew the ship up instead. I got a better handle on the combat (and moving around in general) in the second mission with some 1 on 1 encounters. I'll be more detailed in my final 3 day review, I don't think I'll have it finished off but I could. It's supposed to be pretty short but I don't know how much more time I'm going to put into it. The story seems pretty good and fresh. An ex-slave named Adewale is (was ?) a member of an assassin's guild but now he's stranded in the Caribbean and is mostly interested in freeing slaves who then join his resistance movement. Definitely interested in going through the rest of the story missions at least.
Popular Post jasondm300
Game 1 is in the bag Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet 3/47 Trophies E Rating 5 Hours This was a game that I bought day one and was hard for me to wait to start it. Fatal Bullet is the 4th SAO game to come out in the States, and the first to focus on the Gun Gale Online (GGO) arc. Instead of playing Kirito and his Harem, you actually play as an original avatar that the player creates. You are playing with your friend, Kureha, on your first day of logging in and find a X-type ArFa-Sys, an AI of sorts, you gets the name Rei. This starts you on your adventure to take on quests and battle other players in this game within a game. I've been a fan of SAO since I saw it the first time. The original arc is still the best, but GGO is my second favorite, it also helps that Sinon is probably my favorite of the harem. The gameplay is for fast-paced than any of the other 3 games. Your party can be up to 4 players, including you. I end up using Rei, Kuhera, and Sinon as my mains. The world isn't the most interesting, but it is serviceable and brings that dystopian wasteland. It is also very reminiscent of Future Wars for the Vita, which isn't surprising since the same developer Dimps worked on both.. This is going to be one of the first games I jump back into once the month ends, or if I find one of the games I have lined up for the rest of the month suck, and I need a break. Not a lot of early game trophies, but I also just explored the world for a while and was shooting up enemies. I'm hoping there are more variety in the enemies, because so far it is pretty much the same enemy just pallet swapped, or the same robot with a different role, either sniper or shield. If you enjoyed the anime or the novels or any of the games, I would say pick it up. I like having a unique story that just doesn't revolve around Kirito and the story that I have already seen.

You get to know Adewale in AC 4 better as he is an important character.
Popular Post Psy-Tychist
Game 1: Zombie Driver HD I picked this game on sale when you could buy the DLC in package, thinking that there were DLC trophies included. Turns out that the DLC is mostly cosmetic and to add a could of extra maps and starting vehicles to the game. The game is a top down arcade type shooter where you control a car instead of a person. Style-wise its like a cross between Carmageddon and Dead Nation. The general premise is shown through cartoon type panels (somewhat like Dead Nation) and voice acting which is trying to seem too cool for its own good. You are a taxi driver who gets trapped in the dead zone and gets 'recruited' by the military to do errands for them and also mow down hoards on the undead. The gameplay consists of doing escort fetch quests or clearing out zombie hoards with the car ir with artillery that is mounted upon it. Oh yes, weapons are available but they have a finite use and then you are looking around for ammo drops randomly spaced on the map. The map is the same for all missions I've done so far but the most recent mission was to move to another area and create a new base. This will I assume open a new area to do more quests in before moving on again. The mechanics are simple but my main issue with the game is that the missions are easily laid out with the problem being that it's far too easy for the hoards to do damage to your vehicle. There is no difficulty level so it just increases the numbers and harder types of zombies on the screen. I had no problems with the first couple of missions but on Mission 6, the zombies swarm everywhere making it really hard to turn if you make a driving error. So I'm kinda stuck there at the minute and I've run out of time. There are other modes available such as the Tournament which is several rounds of different challenges against AI cars like Races, Eliminations, Time Trials and the like which are a nice distraction. Also, the Slaughter mode is an endless horde mode which gets progressively harder. Its the best mode as you just find a rhythm and see how long you can hang on. Overall its a kind of mash up of game types rolled into a game which has an obvious story and can be completed quite quickly if played in a couple of sessions. Nothing really stands out but is still fun. Trophies: 10/31 - 24% 3 Hours played Completion: 53.80% - down 0.02% Next game is Magicka 2.
Metal Slime King
@MarkusT1992 While I knew Freedom Cry was DLC that was originally released for Black Flag before getting a stand-alone release it's good to know Adewale featured heavily in that game and presumably got a proper introduction. But this was the game that dropped on ps+ and I've never bought an AC game. I don't know yet if this will be enough to suck me in. @Psy-Tychist Re: Zombie Driver. I just went back and grabbed the plat for this game right before this event started. Cleared story and slaughter modes ages ago but then I got a ps4 and left tournament mode until recently. That dlc Auroch vehicle will come in handy for some of the tourney events, mainly the elimination ones. It would probably be really good for slaughter mode as well. Maybe you'll tell me what those charges below your health bar are for and that'll make all the difference in the world. Those charges are health upgrade points. Any time you get an hp while you are full, one fills up. When all four get full you get one permanent upgrade to your health and the bar empties. Using Knife and Fork, getting heart gun modules, or buying food, can increase your hp pretty high. (as. Long as you aren't regularly taking damage) I've had it as high as ten hp, and can regularly get to the 7 or 8 mark. this brings me to: Game 1: Downwell 10 hrs played (guess), 19/23 trophies. Sorry for the late post, I generally don't check the forums on the weekend due to family time. I was able to clear the normal mode the night I posted my first update and clean up the remaining miscellaneous trophies. I just need to finish a run on hard mode to earn the plat. I've made it to 3-1 once and 2-3 five or so times. I don't remember what Lal I posted previously so I'll give a short summary. You're a boy, with gun boots, who jumps in a well for reasons I'll explain in a minute. You fall through 4 areas of 3 levels a piece and then fight a final boss. The first area is the caverns, then the catacombs, then the aquifer, then Limbo. Zone one looks like faves, two like a midievil dungeon, 3 is under water and you have to collect bubbles so your air doesn't run out, and 4 basically has almost no solid ground, so you have to combo off enemies and random items like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. The boss is a giant eye ball/mouth well monster who has three forms of attack. The mouth/eye open under you and falling on it is bad, the top of the cave becomes the top of a mouth and touching that is also bad. He shoots groups of three fireballs occasionally, spawns monsters based on the fight phase, and drops spikes from the ceiling to avoid. The fight takes place in 4 phases based on the main well areas. The first one has blobs and fireballs coming after you. The 2nd has orbs and Ghosts, and some spiked floors. The 3rd is underwater and you need to get air, with piranhas and squids. The 4th is just like Limbo, with "stuff" flying around and no safe place to actually land. As you shoot him he slowly lowers into the well and you have to continue following him down. After enough damage he closes up and starts dropping very fast. At this point you need to book it to stay ahead of the top teeth, and reach the next phase. After you blow him up you fall out of the screen and the credits roll. When they are done you finally land at the bottom of the well and find Your CAT, seriously. It's just sitting there so you go pick it up. Then you jump and engage your boots and fly out the top of the screen and get the You Win message. There are a number of guns in the game each one does different damage and takes a different number of charges per shot. Machine gun - low damage, 1 charge Noppy(aimed machine gun) - very low damage, 1 charge Puncher (wide, short shot) - med damage - 2 charge Triple (3 wide shots) - 3x low damage - 3 charges Burst (3 direct shots) - 3x low damage, 3 charges Shotgun(6? Spread shots) - high damage, 5 charges Laser (one long piercing blast) - high damage, 5 charges As I mentioned previously, clearing a floor allows you to pick one of three (of twenty) permanent upgrades. My favorite hands down is the Knife and Fork, which allows you to eat ten enemies to restore one hp, or store an hp upgrade charge. You also get a fun 8 bit eating sound when he does so, and OOMNOMNOM appears when you hit ten enemies consumed. Other upgrades include a gem magnet, a gem reloader, bullets that shoot upwards when you collect gems, bullets that explode when you shoot blocks, rocket boots that engage when you run out of charge so you don't plummet into almost certain disaster, a ten% shop discount + guaranteed shop on every floor, boots that put out a big explosion whenever you stomp something, a red heart balloon that slightly slows you and explodes if an enemy touches it, the ability to shoot bodies to make them explode, 1hp + a 4th upgrade to chose from on every later level, and several more that aren't as important. Every run can be slightly different depending on which upgrades you choose from those available. Unlocks - it wouldn't be a rogue like if you didn't get new stuff occasionally from playing. IN Downwell these come in two forms. New color pallettes, of which I have about 25 now, and character "styles". The styles basically change the way your character experiences the game. Spinny Arm removes almost all shops and gem pile side caves. Instead you get way more weapon upgrade nodes, which always come with either a 1 hp or 2 charge upgrade. This is my favorite by far. Another is levitate, which makes your character slightly more floaty. Useful for combining and getting used to the game. Boulder style starts you with 2 extra hp, but you only get two upgrades to choose from per level, and you fall slightly faster which can be rough. The final style is hand stand which removes all game upgrades but makes shops 30% cheaper. Since you can only buy health or charge in shops this is definitely not a beginner friendly style. Hard mode is unlocked once you clear the game at least once. Unlike a lot of games, this mode lives up to its name. It probably took me 5 or 6 hours to clear the main game and do all the miscellaneous trophies. After about 4.5 hrs I've just barely cleared zone 2 on hard mode, and I was able to fully clear normal mode on 2 of my last 3 attempts. Changes to the game : More enemies - like double New enemies - usually 1 or 2 per area Faster/more aggressive enemies One less side cave per level Shops are twice as expensive I also feel like the game is less forgiving with enemy hit boxes. I can't count the number of times I've fallen what I thought was directly on an enemy, and taken damage because it considered me slightly off target. It is ridiculous how fast a run can fall apart in this mode. I feel like an eventual success will involve an increase in personal skill and heavy reliance on good game RNG. All in all I'm still very much enjoying this game and look forward to adding the plat to my collection. F***. You can always start a bonus game. Edited March 5, 2018 by Hemiak
Popular Post CJ_Mystery
Period 1, Day 5: Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories Trophies earned: None! Spent a lot of time grinding up to Level 20 and then defeated the Trickmaster. Tried to earn the trophy for 300 rooms created and 30 premium cards made... but the Premium Rooms I created didn't give me any love(only created six premium cards) and I forgot how many cards you need to make 300 rooms. I don't think I am at the 150 room halfway point yet and I burned every map card I had! So no trophies today. I am glad tomorrow is the last day I have to play this game, I am getting burned out on it. Entered Floor 3 and chose Agrabah... then was reminded that there was a story battle that I had to fight. OOPS. I chose Agrabah so I could use the Aladdin friend card to get Moogle Points so I could get the trophies for Moogle Points earned and spent on this floor.
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #1 - Day #6 - Final Impression Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier Time played: about 10 hours Trophies earned: 36/36 So this game was published by FoxNext, which as the name might imply is connected to Fox Network/20th Century Fox. I'm not sure why they wanted to branch out into the video game business, but maybe they should've stayed away from it. The game looks reasonably good and actually has a few different endings, but I didn't really care for any of the characters. So who lived and who died didn't really matter. The voice acting and facial animations were probably the best part about the game. That alone doesn't cut it though. Frame stuttering, some really awkward limb movement animations and the worst scene transitions I've ever scene are way too obvious to give it a pass. You'd think that a company whose main income is made by broadcasting shows and making movies would be more competent at "cutting film". While the game isn't terrible it felt gradually noticeable that less time and money was invested into it as the development went on. Initially framerate drops were less frequent than later on in the game. There were also no issues with the lip sync until about halfway through the game. Essentially it's a product that seems half-arsed and more a quick cash grab than anything else. A base price of 20€ for a 2-3 hour game that's barely average is also pushing it a bit, considering a lot of indie games are available for that price or far less that are a lot better. You're better off just watching the movies. This is a and nothing more. Edited March 6, 2018 by voodoo_eyes
Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 1: De Blob 2 I was very surprised to see these games appear on the PS4, the original was a Wii exclusive so i jumped on the chance to play it and platinumed it last month, i had played this one on the PS3 but having enjoyed the first game I thought i'd give this another go. You play as Blob who is part of the colour underground a group of revolutionaries who fight Comrade Black (an evil dictator who has taken over Chroma city and sucked all the colour out), your job is to restore colour to the city and save it from comrade black. At the end of the first game Comrade black is defeated, however as this game starts things are not looking so rosy in Chroma and a mysterious cult the church of the Blanc is rising to power, their leader Papa Blanc wins the elections (via some dubious methods) to become president of Chroma City. Papa blanc turns out to be Comrade Black in disguise (shock horror) and again he drains all the colour from the city and its up to blob to restore it. Gameplay itself is typically a 3D platformer, on any given level you have to paint various buildings, this involves gathering paint into blob and then touching the buildings, this builds up colour energy which helps Blob take back the city, as you build up energy more areas of the city become available to you. Sometimes you are required to paint buildings certain colours and this can involve mixing paint to get secondary colours. The game holds your hand all the way through and breaks things down into small missions. If you've played the first this is all very familiar, in the fact the only real noticeable changes are the addition of a dash attack and some enemy that require you to use said attack, plus the fact that in order to take over land marks you no longer mash X, but instead there are 2D plaforming mini sections. Each level also has challenges for score and finding and painting all the citizens and trees, plus destroying all the enemy items, and if you want the platinum you'll need to top score on all of these, and there can be hundreds of each to find in each level. so if you are going for the plat there is a lot of collectable hunting to be done. So far i've just raced through the levels doing the minimum to finish the story and i'm already at over 10 hours play time, to get the plat i guess you are looking at 30 hours+ The only real downside i have is the control scheme, i key part of the game play is to target objects with L2, well often the game has a very different idea of what you should be targeting to I do, this is fine when you are taking things slowly and can realise what it has targeted and move and try again, but a lot of this game is done at pace and you just have to hope that it has targeted the right thing, the number of time i died because blob jumps on the wrong thing, and when this costs you significant progress it gets very frustrating. Overall i had fun playing this, its definitely a family friendly game that is more aimed at children. Play Time : 11 hours Trophies; 16/ 26 Rating: Future Plans: I'd like to platinum but not sure i will have the patience to get every single collectable. Completion: 53.1% (no change) Next Up : Aerea Edited March 6, 2018 by dizzyshadow
