Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #3 - X-Blades - Preview After the previous game, anything is welcome really. Even though this one doesn't have the most stellar review scores either. This game is a hack-and-slash that I guess this one was supposed to be a Devil May Cry with a female protagonist, well until Bayonetta came out a year later I'm hoping that the camera angles aren't fixed and that the combat is at least somewhat smooth. Otherwise it might not be a good time. Not expecting anything special graphically, as it's not made by a AAA company. Well, if the gameplay is good then I don't even care too much how it looks. Popular Post Kevvik
Game #2: The Bard's Tale Day 3 Impressions Time played: 6 hrs So even though the gameplay is nothing special, I have really been enjoying this game. A game's personality can have such an impact on how you receive it. The story continues to be fairly generic but it's the nuance of how the characters deal with it, The Bard often espousing expectations that the genre has led us to. Bard- "We need to get through this gate? I suppose I'll have to go find the key in some dungeon after killing a couple of dragons?" Bodb - "No, I've got it right here in my pocket. Why would you think that?" Taking the generic trappings of the genre and using dialogue to mock it while still maintaining generic gameplay requires a fine balance that The Bard's Tale manages perfectly. Little tweaks like finding new songs to give you new/upgraded summons are a nice touch. Finding tokens which give stat buffs double for collectables. The usual tropes. I've said it before, I'll say it again, the commentary about the journey feels more important than the journey itself, which is a pleasant twist. The fact that I got this as part of the basic Indie Humble Bundle for $1 just makes this all the better. I'll be playing this to completion and continuing intermittently through this event. This has truly been a journey worth taking. Trophies earned: 26/52, 47% for A rank Score so far: 8/10 Completion Rate: 83.22% (-0.14% for the event) Coming up: The other new game I got from the Humble Bundle... Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 2: 11 - 11 Memories Retold 11-11 is a story driven game, It follows the story of 2 soldiers in World War 1 (One German & One Canadian) for the 2 years leading up to Armistice Day. It follows them through from how/why they enlisted right through to what happens at the end of the war and even afterwards. Given the story is the game i'm not going to cover it at all here to avoid spoilers. I'm a big fan of Story driven games, and i did enjoy this one as well, it shares a lot of similarities with telltale games. However there is a reason that I've only rated it as there are a number of things i didn't enjoy, firstly the art style is unusual, its best described as like an impressionist painting and its like that all the way through the game, personally i didn't care for it as all, but also it can make finding the collectables a pain (although this may have been intentional on the part of the Devs) Secondly its billed as a game where your choices have an impact on the ending, and while there are 7 endings it seems only your choices in the final 5 minutes (and one choice a few minutes before that) have any impact on which ending you see, i got all 7 ending within an hour by replaying that final section. and even those endings have significant overlap. Finally there is a the language aspect, the game highlights where the character can't understand what is being said (because its in a different language) however generally they then go ahead and do what they have been asked even they supposedly didn't understand it. and also they are surprisingly poor at learning foreign languages you would think over the course of the game they would learn some of thew foreign language they are constantly exposed to, however even at the end of the supposedly they still don't understand even basic words. But to ends on a positive the "catch the delicious bird" missions did make me smile. Overall glad i've played it, but its probably one only for fans of the story games. My intro paragraph for LEGO worlds was still spot on, so I just edited my last post with my final review. It's still at the top of this page. Up next is some Gauntlet Legends or just Gauntlet as it shows up on the PS4 library. Either way it should be downloaded tomorrow and ready to go. Thanks for the review. My son loves LEGO games (hasn't touched Minecraft tho) so this game was on my radar. Maybe I'll avoid it now. Also, if you're going for the plat, I believe I saw somewhere about a brick exploit so you don't have to needlessly grind for all those bricks. 3 hours ago, dizzyshadow said: Game 2: 11 - 11 Memories Retold Overall glad i've played it, but its probably one only for fans of the story games. Agree. I'm glad I played it but it's not one of my favorites. Something was just missing in the story to really make it compelling. Also, the abudity at the end with... Spoiler The hot-air balloon ...really turned me off. The impressionist graphics also bugged me at first but then I accepted it as it's an artistic game, so an artistic motif fits it. I'm not sure the story would've been conveyed as well if we had crisp graphics, like Battlefield 1. But yes, finding collectibles in a blurred world was tough. I did think the voice acting was great though, especially from the Major. If you're looking at it from an educational aspect, I think BF1 packs a lot more detailed information into it, along with much more entertainment.
Popular Post crimsonidol38
Game 1, Review: Gal*Gun Double Peace (PS Vita) Previous Posts: Preview, Day 1 to 3 My initial goal of finishing my second run didn't work as I got distracted by Super Life of Pixel (and Forza Horizon 3) Still got a bit of play time and I wouldn't say that the game grew on me but during my second run I really started to enjoy the simple rail shooting-mechanics of the game and got way better scores than in my first run. I'm just at the beginning of chapter 5 (there#s a total of 7 on the Shinobu-route) and I'm already B-rank score-wise. Won't be able to get the Gal God-trophy in that run but at least I was able to get a streak of performing 30 ecstasy shots in a row (even if about one third was achieved via DDM). Even if the gameplay of Gal*Gun has some rough edges I have to say that it's about on the same level of enjoyment as Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, or Punch Line when it's compared to fanservice-heavy games. The only thing that really spoils the fun are the atrocious loading times on the Vita. And I should start to keep track of all the student data I have to gather starting from my next playthrough. Otherwise I will probably have to do a few more cleanup runs in the score attack-mode. My final rating for the game is a solid . Overall a solid game for me and I hope it won't suffer the same fate as most of the other KYC-games I enjoyed and being ignored for the rest of their life But given the fact that it's a suitable game to be played in shorter time frames (well, anything longer than 2 minutes so I will a point past the title screen ) it's at least likely that I will continue to play it. Stats: Rating: Total playing time: ~6hoursTrophies earned: 12 / 39Completion rate: 18% Rank: CDid the game lower my completion? Yes My ratings: AWESOME!!! That was time well spent Solid game, might come back to it When there's good, there's bad. This here is, ehm..., acceptable? Gimme an option to delete trophy lists wiith completion > 0%, please! Popular Post ImBossy83
Final Thoughts Game #1 Hitman Contracts I continued and finished 9 of the 12 Levels with a silent assassin rating on the highest difficulty. I played for about 9 hours and I got 12 of the 29 trophies for an A Rating. I can't recommend this game because it really didn't age well. It's not Graphics alone but also the A.I., controls and the abysmal Story. If you are a fan of the Series take a look at it since it's easy enough to Platinum if you use a Guide. The Platinum shouldn't take more than 12-15 hours.

Telltale games are by far the best comparison in my opinion.
Popular Post Gretchen27
Game 2: First Impressions The Sims 3: Pets Play time: 3 hours Percent Change: - 1.41% You can subtract an hour in that play time for hanging out in the character creator. Though it usually takes me an hour per character, yeah I spend too much time in advance settings. I was good this time because I was eager to jump in so I made 2 Sims & 1 dog in an hour. The Sims shouldn’t be important to note in this game; but the dog is a dark brindle Mastiff called Jaxson, who currently is a very adorable pug sized puppy. Customization is larger than I expected for pets. Variations for ears, snout length, layers for fur colors, fur type & so forth. It’s overwhelming. Once I get set up with a good income I’ll have to add a cat or another dog completely customized. No map exploration yet. My strategy is to work on skills, climb the career ladder, & stockpile some cash first. There’s your typical short term & lifetime wish system to work toward. & reading through some of the challenges tells me the people who worked on this game must have been on some good stuff. Make a Sim transmogrified from a cat and a Sim transmogrified from a dog become a couple. Have your Sim kiss their brother's/sister's best friend. Dance with the reaper. It’s gonna be interesting ? I have glanced at a guide just to see how many trophies are expected to glitch. Spoiler alert: most all of them (no surprise there EA). That’s all right. I made it through The Sims 3 without too much hassle, I don’t expect this to deter me from the plat. I’ve still got one in game day till Jaxson turns into an adult dog. After that I’ll change the settings back to immortal lifespan. Then he should be set to start ‘wishing’ for things & start earning his keep. Looking to dig (literally) into the pirate treasure mystery quest this weekend with him.
Popular Post ImBossy83
Initial thoughts Game #2 This game is really bad. It manages to look even worse than my previous Game. The Game comes with 3 Game Modes. Exhibition Games, a Season mode and a Career mode similar to the become a pro modes of modern times. There is no difficulty setting so the AI basically stays the same no matter what. Some of the trophies are tied to the career mode so that's where i started. I played for about 3 hours and i got 13 of the 26 trophies. It all seems to be rather easy and it has an ultra rare Platinum Trophy so it got that going for it, which is nice. And somehow I even enjoyed my time so far although it is an objectively bad Game. Edited March 8, 2019 by ImBossy83
Popular Post PerryToxteth
KYC 9 Game No. 2 MXGP3 Trophies Earned: 18/37 (34% D rating) Playing Time: 3 hours Final Thoughts: I've always been a sucker for racing games, ever since I wasted countless quarters on Pole Position at my local Shakey's Pizza way back in the '80s. I prefer arcade style over simulation, as I could care less about altering the suspension or adjusting the wheel base. So this one caught my interest in a sale awhile back; racing, no sim, and no MP trophies . Sounds like a fun game, right? Well... Firing up the game, there's a few different racing circuits to choose so I just went with the Career entry level to learn the game. I honestly couldn't tell you the specific acronym for it as I know nothing about real motocross racing, but from my guess, there must be different tiers of professional racing. So let's just say I began in the Junior Circuit. In my first race, I got my ass handed to me. I didn't even see the leaders after the first turn. Handling-wise, I thought I did a decent job of figuring out the racing mechanics of the bike. There's some kind of points progression after each race, so I figured, I must need to race a season or two, and then my attributes will be high enough to compete. Second race, pretty much the same thing. I worked my ass off just to get in the Top 12. But again, never was in contention. After the race, my attributes went slightly up again (they start in the 40s). Third race was in rainy conditions in the UK so should be tough to win, right? Well, approaching the first corner, the entire field of AI racers took a hard turn the wrong way and disappeared. Huh? I raced around the required three laps solo and won a crap load of trophies because Glinda the Good Glitch gave me zero competition. And ever since then, I have won pretty much every race. The AI doesn't disappear anymore. But they don't race at a cut-throat level like the start of the game. It just feels strange that they AI dropped that fast without me tweaking anything in an options menu. But I won't complain about earning easy trophies. That said, this game doesn't rank that high in the 'fun factor,' in my opinion. Each race course feels like a regurgitation of the prior track, and it's pretty repetitive in the racing; go fast for a short stretch, then brake into a hair-pin turn, and occasionally hit a bump. I guess my hopes in this game were to play similar to an old ATV racing game on the PS1 or PS2. Can't remember the name, but my friends and I had a great time playing four-player split-screen with it back in the day. In that game, you could get some massive air off jumps and could get some serious speed. This game must be more authentic to the real motocross because the tracks are tight, not allowing for much speed, and the jumps don't allow for much air. Again, I might have watched a grand total of 30 seconds of professional motocross on my TV in my lifetime. So if you are really into pro motocross and know the pro racers and teams, you'd probably get more out of this than I did. If you're just looking for a decent racing game, I'd look elsewhere. I give it a . Next Up: Dishonored (I bumped this game up in my order as my work schedule next week looks ghastly. So I dropped Maize into a better slot for a short game.)
Popular Post Kevvik
Hopefully going to get to Inner Space later tonight. Been on the go and away from the console but brought my Vita with me and finished off the platinum on Monster Monpiece. Now I can delete that junk from my Vita. Really can't figure the audience for this game. You would think it was teenage boys with the juvenile fan service, made even creepier when I realized that my female character who was rubbing all these girls/women on the cards was actually a 14-yr old. On the other side, the story and dialogue seemed pointed at stereotypically vapid teenage girls as I really can't see anyone with any sense finding them interesting (apologies as necessary to anyone reading this post, more annoyance with the game than judgment of readers). And no, I realized that there truly isn't a male in sight during the game (except, of course, the screen strokers). Final Score: 2/10 (there could have been an interesting card game there but it just wasn't worth the designers' efforts to put anything decent around it) Edited March 9, 2019 by Kevvik
Popular Post Upendo_Vitani
I think I'll do an early mid review for my 2nd game: Darksiders Warmastered Edition. I am finding it way easier than the first time I played it on PS3. I haven't needed a guide for any puzzles yet, and I even got all the missable trophies. Even Aerial Predator was easy; I got it on my first try. I remember it being my last trophy on the PS3 version and needing many attempts before I finally got it. I have just beaten the second boss and made it to an area that I do not really remember all that well from before, but that adds to the enjoyment when I figure out the puzzles myself, as I usually need to follow guides for this type of game. I know I will be looking at a guide when it's time for the collectibles clean up. So far, I'm giving this game an 8/10.

If instead of rubbing the vita, just stacking the same cards would have created a "better" version of said card, it would have been a superior game for it. Some devs seem to really be invested in the gimmick of rubbing/tapping the vita screen continuously for their games. Kind of wished that would have died down as fast as the sixaxis nonsense did. 11 minutes ago, coldsphinx93 said: I think I'll do an early mid review for my 2nd game: Darksiders Warmastered Edition. Might have to do with the FPS on the PS4, as it should be more fluent due to running at 60 instead of 30 (with ocasional drops to half of that) and thus making the aerial predator bit easier. Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #3 - X-Blades - Review Time played: 7 hours or so Trophies earned: 29/38 I finished my first playthrough of this game yesterday, and I won't be playing more of it today. Your protagonist is a skimpily dressed treasure hunter, that's wearing nothing but a thong, boots and a bra made of napkins. As we all know since the early Lara Croft days, the less you wear the more treasure you can carry. Anyway... the game has some kind of weird looking 3D anime cutscenes, IIt looks kind of ugly overall, especially the monster design. The environments are tinted in passable brown for the most part. The gameplay has a bit of an odd structure to it as well. There are 42 areas, but essentially you play through each area twice. Furthermore, a health bar gets shown on your screen, that represents the enemy forces. So you get continuously swarmed by enmies until that bar depletes. There being only about 5 types of enemies doesn't really add to the excitement. You fight with your two gunblades that can slice and shoot and a few magic spells. While the camera isn't fixed, the combat is still not fluid. Mainly due to there not really being a combo system. There is like 2 combos total, which work poorly. Adding to that the stupid amount of enemies that rush at you, as if it was Black Friday and you had a 80% discount tag on you, leads to you being constantly stun-locked. All of these things make this game a fairly dull experience, It's barely a , and that's being generous. Popular Post DamagingRob
@voodoo_eyes Well, that X-Blades review is a shame.. But one less game for me to think about buying. Maybe. I have been unable to even breathe the past couple of days, let alone game. But I played a bit of Deus Ex. Day 1 2, Dues Ex: Mankind Divided At the start, you can watch a lengthy summary of the previous game: Human Revolution. So, if you didn't play that one (or need a refresher), it's there. Long story short for this game, humans are scared of other humans with augmentations. Which are people with like, robotic limbs and stuff? Some bad dudes in the previous game hacked all the people with augs, and made them kill a ton of people. Thus, the reason why they are now feared. And why mankind is now... divided. It's up to Adam Jensen to try and set things right. I only played one mission that serves as a tutorial. You learn how to snap to cover, and sneak around. And it is fairly linear. But after that, the game opens up a bit. You start in Adam's apartment, and are able to go out and explore the city. Which has some missions, sidequests, and things to collect scattered about. You can eventually buy a lot more abilities, but right now I only have a few. The only one I've really used has been a temporary invisibility cloak. Once activated, a bar of energy quickly depletes and when it's empty, you are no longer invisible. So yeah, I don't really have much else to say right now. It looks nice, though. And I don't expect to get through the game without raising an alarm, since I keep getting spotted and have to knock a bunch of dudes out. But maybe I can do that on my hardest difficulty playthrough, since I really won't want to raise alarms there. Time played: 1-2 hours. Trophy progress: 5/82 for 4% and an E rank. I''m very skeptical about this one. I still have PTSD from playing Akiba's Beat, which was quite a bad game. At least the combat looks more fluid in Akiba's Trip, and the NPCs seem to be fully rendered and not just silhouettes like it was the case in the other game. I'm also hoping that the composer isn't the same, because the music will end up triggering me otherwise. If Pinkun is in this game though I'm pretty much out, unless you can mute the little fucker.
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #3: Inner Space Initial/Day 3 Impressions Time played: 1.5 hrs Ok, so I finally had a chance to sit down with this for a bit. Then my wife brought the kids home with more in tow so I lost the console for the day while they played Minecraft. All day. I did a bunch of work on Bard's Tale but hopefully I'll do a bit more time on this later in the event. But back to the game. Inner Space is a 3rd-person(?) exploration game. You play the Cartographer, which seems to be a sentient aircraft within an alien world. You start out in a cave, get told by another craft (sort of a boat) which claims to be the Archeologist, to collect relics. That doing this will allow them to figure out what has happened in the Inverse as well as make you more versatile. You do so, learning the mechanics of the game as well as flying, and open a new area. As the story (of sorts) progresses, you find out that wind is like an energy/currency and that demigods rose, using wind to fuel almost an immortality and they usurped the creator (sort of). The first one you meet feels bad for this and gives you its wind to try to free the other demigods. The story doesn't seem to make a lot of sense but this game is really about exploration and your environment. Similar to Abzu, the "story" appears to be a MacGuffin to keep the exploration moving to new areas and make an excuse for finding collectibles. The controls for flying, and being a sub once you can go underwater, work well which would be a massive fail otherwise in this kind of game. You track down relics to upgrade yourself with new wings, batteries, etc. So far, that's it. I enjoyed Abzu but this feels really boring. Abzu's environment felt much more immersive than this or maybe there's another reason I'm just not getting into it. Another thing, you are called the Cartographer...but there's no freaking map!!! You just wander around and try to recognize things if you get twisted about. The first areas aren't huge but I expect that to change a bit as I progress. No excuse for this in a game like this. Overall, just not feeling this. I'll come back later and hopefully, I change my mind. It's supposed to tell a story of some sort, though I'm not real sure what it is yet. Also, you don't play a puzzle game for a super compelling story, either. You can also play the classic Tetris modes (marathon, ultra, and sprint). You can play this in VR as well, but I don't have one, so can't really comment on that. Most of the trophies are pretty straightforward, but to get the plat, you'll have to git gud. I believe they changed a bunch of stuff, and alienated the people who liked Trip. I can at least assure you I've never heard the name Pinkun before. That's good to hear. It's the most annoying character in video game history since Noober from Baldur's Gate. The latter you can at least kill or lose during a screen transition. Unfortunately already encountered one thing that is exactly the same as in the other game. The goddamn loading segments for evey separate area. Also, the guide seems to be off. Supposedly there is an event after the tutorial at the Electric Tower Plaza, well there was no event nor were there the 2 enemies that were supposed to show up. None of this triggers. Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #: The Witness First of all: I wasn't really motivated to play much during the last week. That's why I only played very little of the witness. However, I managed to at least get one trophy and see the basic gist of the game. The Witness is a puzzle game set on an island. You can explore the island as you please. There can be a puzzle in each corner of the map. Each puzzle requires you to draw a line on a pannel. The first few puzzles are pretty easy but not long into the game they start to get a bit more challenging. There is no explanation at all what you have to do. New elements in the puzzles need to be figured out by yourselfe. Some examples for what might come up: You have to "collect" every dot on the grid with your line, you draw a second mirrored line or you have to seperate black and white spots. Here's an example of what a puzzle looks like. That's one of the first puzzle you encounter without any special requirement to solve. I finished one of the areas of the island so far. It seems that each area is tied to a trophy. The area I completed was probably the easiest according to the trophy rarity. So far it is an interesting game but I can't really give a rating for the game after such a short playtime. Time played: Maybe 1h, probably less Trophies: 1/14 Rating: ??? Can't see what's in the spoiler, but I think some of the events were a little off in that guide. :/ Or the way it was laid out just made it a bit confusing.
