Many thanks there yeah, it's the type of jank that doesn't frustrate me. I guess it comes with the home turf, since real life in Romania is the equivalent of jank ? besides in Hitman 2 SA even now in glorious year of the plague 2021 I went "ok i know, sneaking around with a sniper in St Petersburg is annoying as fuck but DO YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF THE SNOW CREAKING UNDER MY 47 BOOTS?" Yeah I can't help NOT love this game. Despite its jank. 7 hours ago, rjkclarke said: I am playing a janky EuroRPG at the moment Mars:War Logs that I think the tolerance level we both have for bad combat in those titles - could be pushed to the limit - I've died too many times to being surrounded by Moles with unblockable and un-dodgable attacks - to the point where I almost want to go to a field and kick a load of molehills down... Thoroughly enjoyed reading that, and it was a nice reminder too - that I have a Hitman Contracts review to hurry up and write - otherwise you will have completed part 3 of the recent trilogy by the time I actually finish writing reviews for the old ones There is another reason why I loved Redemption at Gontranno, because in Hitman Codename 47 the final mission Meet your Brother was one of the most infuriating final missions I ever played. You had to kill a large wave of agent 48s with a minigun but you also died in 2 bullets. Unless you went for the exact spawning points you had 0 chances of winning. Redemption at Gontranno kinda goes for the same massacre style final mission but this time it is done in true Agent 47 style. So yeah, I did love the final mission more because of my experience with Codename 47 ? Heheh yeah I don't want to pressure you but I also can't wait to see what you thought about Hitman: Contracts I myself am itching to start it and I will probably even do it this week. Contracts was way moodier and darker, reflecting Agent 47's psyche in that game. But that's enough from my side hahah, I'll let you do the honors! P.S. Don't forget to write about Traditions of the Trade mission

Popular Post Copanele
Well prepare for trouble and make it double, because here comes 2 games that I don't even know how I found out. Actually I know how, will be explained later: No. 45 - Deadliest Warrior: The Game Hardest Trophy: Who's Deadliest Now? Defeat Arcade mode on the Deadliest difficulty as the Ninja, the Viking, and the Knight. Difficulty: 4.5/10 Personal impression: 7/10 No. 46 - Deadliest Warrior: Legends Hardest Trophy: Slash Mode Kill 50 enemies in a row in Survival Slice Challenge as the primary player. Difficulty: 4/10 Personal Impression: 6.9/10 😆 At some point in time, elite writer extraordinaire @realm722 wrote one very true thing about me and my tastes in gaming, and I quote "but due to our chasmic difference in games where he's playing King of Fighters XXX: Fighting After Dark..." (link to the good stuff). Leaving the fact that you have to check his Trophy Checklist page because it's awesome, he was 100% on point about me: Sometimes even I have no fkin idea what I am playing here but it's fighting games and it's after dark. This is definitely the case with Deadliest Warrior , fighting games made after a show with the same name. Just because I am lazy, I will copy/paste from Wikipedia: Deadliest Warrior is a television program in which information on historical or modern warriors and their weapons are used to determine which of them is the "deadliest" based upon tests performed during each episode. The show was characterized by its use of data compiled in creating a dramatization of the warriors' battle to the death. So yeah, never seen the show, but basically you can fulfill your lifelong dream of finding out who is cooler: Ninjas or pirates? This collection is a 2.5D fighting game where you pick various historical figures (either regular warriors like Knights or Samurai in Game or personalities like William Wallace or Atilla the Hun in Legends) and fight as them until one of you falls. Despite their look...the games are actually pretty well made. Every character has stats such as speed, power, reach etc. , main weapon, side weapon and ranged. You also have combos surprisingly, which turns the game from a mashing fest to something abit more technical. Sure, you can spam square as Genghis Khan, but if you do a triangle->X->square combo instead, you can unleash your hidden Mongolian wrath while heads fly around. And boy do heads fly around. This game is rather graphical. Hit the enemy's hand enough and you may break it, disabling him from using his 2handed weapon or shield. Hit his leg with a sweep and he might limp for the rest of the match. Time a perfect strike to his neck and...well you got Turkey in bowling From the combat and the movement I can see that the developers actually cared about this game and its development. And it shows! Yes, Deadliest Warrior might look like the jankiest jank ever made, but I legit had fun and laughed a couple of times at the game's nonsense and simply charming characters. My favorite by far in both games was the pirate since he started all of his matches with "En Garde, ye scurvy dog", he chucks bombs and he can literally heashot you with his pistols. He has 0 armor but who cares when you are swashbuckling through some tin man's armor. There's also some minigames involved. Both games have a Challenge Survivor mode, unlocked by beating the arcade mode with every character. Legends also has a Generals mode, where you play a 1v1 campaign on a map , you capture territories, allocate troops and 1v1 the enemy generals. Pretty fun modes, they do change the pacing abit. Now, how in the love of Deus Vult did I even find these games and what was my experience with them? It all started when @AihaLoveleaf (bless his heart, may he always find the best 6number codes) recommended these to me as a joke due to their apparent jankyness and the trophies involving parries, him already knowing I am a sucker for these kinds of games. Of course, the fact that the games have a 0.25% and 0.30% completion was quite intimidating too. But other than winning 10 online tournaments (which involved 2 PS3s, 4 accounts and lots of cursing) and killing 1000 opponents as the Rajput (3 hours of podcast really), these games were actually a treat to play and they weren't as challenging as expected! Probably my favorite trophy was If anyone Khan, Genghis Khan, where you simply have to beat the arcade mode as Genghis Khan armed with only a dead fish. Due to a bug I could safely finish this on Easy, but it was hilarious to slap Alexander the Great in the face with a stinky fish followed by Genghis Khan's grunts of glory. All in all, fun games that probably nobody heard of. Definitely had a great time with them, not sure if I would recommend them due to their old age but regardless, it's a funnier way of experiencing history. THE GOOD: - actually good combat - charming characters - Survivor mode - Genghis Khan with a fish THE BAD: - online trophies are a pain - once you're done with Arcade there's nothing much to do in the game Recommendation: For Honor The refined version of Deadliest Warrior, For Honor is a historical Arena Brawler where you can fight as a viking vs a samurai. Or a ninja vs a concubine. Or as a shaolin vs the microtransactions, because Ubisoft. Edited December 24, 2023 by Copanele
Popular Post Copanele
Warning: this review might be incoherent. It happens when I enjoy a game abit too much. 164 - Transistor Platinum Name: Plat() Hardest Trophy: Performance() Difficulty: 3.5/10 Personal impression: 9.6/10 Probably my most favorite type of games are the ones that take me fully by surprise. Yes I know, it's a dumb "No shit Sherlock" thing to say, but if you ask me "what's your favorite type of videogames?" I'd either say "Action/adventure" or "Fighting" or "Dressup in Yakuza" or whatever crosses my mind at that point. But the truth is...I like games that get me so involved from the very first scenes that I don't even know when the time passes or what garbage I was playing before starting this game. This is definitely the case with Transistor , an izometric Turn-based action game. You control Red, a singer rendered mute in a failed assassination attempt. She is wielding a huge talking sword called Transistor Together they want to find out why people wanted to assassinate her while also fending off a strange robot invasion. To cut to the chase: this game got me hooked in from the very beginning. Not to spoil the surprise, but from the first button press I was "wow ok, so this is how it's going to be". And from that point I had the impression that the developers were mad enough to put every pixel to its correct place, because the entire graphics, soundtrack, world building, monsters and artwork are so well merged that together they form a literal masterpiece. No really, screw whoever sees this game and still goes "no, videogames cannot be a form of art". This game is crafted with such attention to detail that if you change ONE element (be it the tone of the graphics, the notes in the song or even the mood of the story for a little bit) you can risk ruining it. Regardless to say, I loved this game from an aesthetic point of view. The minimalist tone combined with a cyberpunk setting could never go better. If it wasn't enough, the gameplay is another stellar implementation of the game, and one that tickled my sw developer side (I write code in real life). As Red, you are facing robots called Processes() who are generally way stronger and faster than you. You can approach them like in a regular action game, but you would be surprised to see that you die almost instantly. However, with the Transistor's powers, you can stop time and plan your attacks with a command that is called Turn(). While playing you will unlock various attacks called Functions(). To summarize: you plan in your Turn how to use your Functions in order to kill the Processes. But on the other hand, you must be careful that you have enough Memory to store the Functions (you have a limited Memory at first) and you have a limited execution time for your Turn. If you are also working in the programming field, you can see where this is going in terms of sneaky references . What's amazing is how simplistic yet intricate the entire system is. No single Function() is useless. You have a multitude of build options, ranging from being a sneaky assassin and clean every Process with backstabs, you can summon a friendly pet called Help() who can bite the hell out of processes or you can go ballistics and use Ping() to shoot everything with a machine gun. You can also add Functions as passive upgrades to other Functions, which means your little Help() dog can now have an explosive bite with the correct upgrade. I actually had mad fun experimenting with functions and merging them to generate various results. The enemies are varied enough so they can force you switch out builds (in the beginning at least). Also, with the wrong build you might lock yourself out of victory and force a restart. My worst mistake for instance is applying a "turn enemy friendly" on the Help(), which means the enemy would not receive any damage, just be turned into my ally for a brief amount of time. Since I couldn't inflict damage on allies, I had to restart. The story was another crucial aspect of the game. I know it had a mixed reception, but I enjoyed stories from games like Dark Souls. I don't need to know ALL the answers, I love the mystery and obscurity, so this story fit perfectly with my tastes. Finding out who the Camerata are, what's the deal with the city, why are the Processes so vicious, why everything is so white...can't say I found out everything, but man was I satisfied at the end. If there's one thing that I wished the game had, was more bosses. The first Boss was such a mesmerizing experience (heavily resembling Simone the Opera performer from NieR Automata), that I wanted more encounters like these. Also there was abit of a headache in the challenge rooms the game offers. The Performance() rooms make you fight off waves of enemies and give you random Functions(), so RNG can be a real nuisance in some runs. But these are minor nitpicky things that should not ruin the fun of the game. This is the second Supergiant game that I am playing. I was mad impressed with Hades and now with Transistor I am positively convinced that this company really does put care and effort in their products. I will play Bastion at a later date for sure, since that one is praised like crazy too. I just need a Turn() cooldown to recover from so much artistic form I can't process this much. THE GOOD: - Pretty much everything in this game - The ingenious way the combat is designed - it's JUST the right length, not too short but not too long of a game. - it will tickle your artistic views THE BAD: - In Circles/ _n C_rcl_s was on repeat in my youtube for too long of a time. - seriously, this soundtrack is so good it should be illegal Recommendation: NieR Automata join for the sexy Android and sick combat, stay for the existential crysis and mad soundtrack. I thought to recommend Hades first, but this game gets closer in terms of themes (programs, memory, crying because of Pascal, the usual stuff)

Heh it will be a weird thing to say, but I like turn based combat, just not the japanese one ? You will like the game, I can bet. The main questions are answered in game. And if by any chance you don't enjoy it, the game is short anyway I'd say give it a go, it's a way better choice compared to the classic jank
Popular Post DrBloodmoney
Yeeeesssss! Glad to hear you had an awesome time with Transistor, bud - what a game! Really amazing how much it can change the game, just with a slight change of Functions, isn’t it? I feel like every time I set a new build, I’d be like “This. This is the one! Screw that other build, it’s a build for chumps!…” then 10 mins later… “no wait, THIS. THIS is the one, fuck that dumb last one, it’s for losers..!” ? Whats great about Supergiant, is that there isn’t a single game they have that isn’t awesome - I don’t even need to be like, “now play this one…” I can just say “Now play all the rest!” ?

The best part at Transistor, to further convince you, is that the game and the platinum itself does not take long to do. It took me 2 days to platinum it and trust me it was a 100% blind playthrough from beginning until the end. No internet needed so it won't be a massive time investment either way.

I love it when another user on here discovers how amazing Supergiant games are ?. I remember when I discovered them back when I picked up Transistor for $5 on sale. I played it for a little while, didn't click with it, and left it on the shelf for well over a month to go play the new Spider-Man game that came out. I came back to it and LOOOOOOOVED it due to all the factors you mentioned from the delightfully simple yet intricate combat system as well as learning what each function does. Somehow, Transistor wasn't my favorite game of theirs. I STILL think about Pyre to this day. It's a remarkably special game and while I'll concede the gameplay system definitely caters to me (I'm a sports nut, I was literally doing eSports commentary of my own moves as I played), it is Supergiant's best work IMO. I bought the physical edition of Hades and am saving it for my 175th plat milestone since I'm 99% sure I'll love it. Bastion is GOOD. I think it's the "worst" of their games but not because it's bad but rather how much they've improved upon each new release of theirs. Reading your review gave me butterflies of when I discovered the studio back in 2019 and played all 3 of their games(back then) in a span of 7 months. It's awesome that Hades launched their studio into a new stratosphere of being recognizable amongst a huge froth of gamers and I cannot even begin to imagine what their 5th project will look like.

The soundtrack was the first thing that stood out to me, as well. I enjoyed it so much I'd listen to it while playing other games like NBA 2K. Something tells me that in worst case scenario this is gonna be just an amazing game ? kinda played them in reverse myself (started with Hades of all games), but I expect this one to pleasantly surprise me. I believe Transistor was a free PS Plus game in spring of 2015, so it was one of the first games I ever played after buying my PS4 in February of that year. The soundtrack was the first thing that stood out to me, as well. I enjoyed it so much I'd listen to it while playing other games like NBA 2K. Sadly I ended up falling off the game and never coming back. From time to time I think about revisiting it, but your review might be the thing that finally brings me back after almost 7 years. You definitely need to get to it it's worth it! As I mentioned before, even if say it doesn't catch your interest, it's not a long game by any means! But well, if the soundtrack caught your attention, then for sure you'll find the love of it. OK now, I will bore you with some small entry, it goes into the "games that I play before the release of a bigger game". No. 47: Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol.2 Hardest Trophy: Conquering the Collection finish all 3 games on difficulty 4/8 or higher Difficulty: 5/10 Personal impression: 7/10 And now, by covering this game also, I think I played at least one entry of every major SNK fighting game franchise. Fatal Fury features the protagonist Terry Bogard, the stereotypical American fighter with blond hair, blue eyes, trucker hat and always yelling "c'mon c'mon". Japan never disappoints when it comes to other cultures Will keep it short: It's a SNK game, therefore in terms of animation and soundtrack the quality is top notch. All characters are hand drawn and the stages are very dynamic. An interesting feature is that you can kick the enemy off the stage, which was some nice trick back in 1993. The controls are also pretty simple...if you can do the weird motions required of the game. However in terms of AI...this is probably my least favorite SNK game, even lower than Fu'un Super Combo collection. Here the AI takes new levels of cheapness, it won't rush you causing a mistake, the AI will patiently wait for you to press ONE button, just for it to press a counter with higher priority than your attack. My bane of existence was Billy Kane, a staff wielding hoodlum who had some mad range and always punished my attacks no matter what. Had to find a lucky exploit and win a round via time out in order to beat him. So yeah, I enjoyed the game for its legacy, but man I am tired of SNK boss syndrome. Glad this one is kinda the last that I'll play from the old collection, will wait for KoF XV's release THE GOOD: - SNK once again proves how good they are with designing awesome characters - Responsive controls unlike Art of Fighting and KoF 94 - Blue Mary stands out as an awesome character THE BAD: - AI will teach you the meaning of pain - Geese Howard is the epitome of unfair final boss Recommendation: Art of Fighting Anthology if you like tought retro fighting games, give this collection a go, it's on PS4 too. Be warned: I am not responsible for injuries, cries, complaints and curses to various gods This game IS HELL! Ok, now I need to find another small game to play until they release Shadow Man. I can't WAIT to play the remaster of that game. For who doesn't know - quite a bit of people - Shadow Man is a 1999 game where you go between the land of the living and the dead in order to defeat 5 serial killers. Beautiful action-horror game that was part of my childhood. It being released in 2021 fills my heart with joy. I love that game the same way I love Turok 2! I really appreciate that feedback. I didn't realize that it was on the shorter side, so I think it's definitely doable for me to play it. I was rereading some reviews last night, and I think (with your help) I've talked myself into going back to it.

Lousy quoting system... Yeah, Shadowman! I haven't thought about that game in years. If peeps are still playing Grim Fandango (which I'm actually meaning to get into this month), Shadowman certainly deserves the same!
