Call me crazy, but I still like Sonic 3 & Knuckles' soundtrack.

Assassin's Creed II also has lots of good songs, I love Ezio's Family.

The Zelda series, obviously, particularly the credits to A Link to the Past, Majora's Mask, and Ocarina of Time.

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon has some amazing songs.

I actually enjoy the majority of the vocal Sonic songs, even if the games they come from are mediocre or suck.

Me and a friend of mine really love soundtracks. So at some time in 2009 we decided to create a double cd containing all our favourite tracks from video games.

The first soundtrack contained only music from old games (before PS2 era). Here is the tracklist:

1.The Secret of Monkey Island - Introduction

2. Shadow of the Beast - Welcome

3. The Revenge of Shinobi - China Town

4. Super Strreet Fighter II - Ken's Theme

5. Castlevania 4 - Vampire Killer

6. Ecco 2: Tides of Time - Title Theme

7. Mortal Kombat Trilogy - Goro vs Art

8. Sonic The Hedgehog - Green Hill Zone

9. Bubble Bobble - Main Theme

10. Pacman - Main Theme (we actually put a Jazzy remix of the theme)

11. Leisure Suit Larry 1 - For Your Thighs Only (Larry theme)

12. Super Mario Land - Birabuto

13. Tetris - Korobelniki (Main Theme)

14. Metal Gear Solid - Encounter

15. Doom - Level 1

16. Command & Conquer: Red Alert

17. Star Wars: Force Commander - Imperial March (Rage mix)

18. Gabriel Knight 3 - Trailer Theme

19. Castlevania - A Night of Peace & Quiet

20. Swagman - Main Theme

21. Outlaws - Outlaws

22. Felony 11-79 -

23. Wipeout - Messij

24. Final Fantasy VIII - Liberi Fatali

25. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - The Tragic Prince

26. War of the Worlds - The Eve of War (Martian)

27. Vampire the Maqerade: Redemption - Redemption Theme

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Song of Whiterun. I seriously would walk down the aisle to that song.

Metal Gear Solid [series] - In particular, Yell Dead Cell & Encounter.

Kingdom Hearts [series] - I especially love the piano collections that were released. Concert Paraphrase on Dearly Beloved is gorgeous.

Final Fantasy [series] - I was a little disheartened when I saw that FFXIII wouldn't feature the classic FF tunes, but was genuinely, and pleasantly, surprised with the soundtrack as a whole. It was quite well done.

That said "Fithos, Lusec, Wecos, Vinosec" is my all time favorite song in the series - yes, even above "One Winged Angel".

Sleeping Dogs - One of the few games with a licensed soundtrack that I actually enjoy just about EVERYTHING on it.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - This one actually exposed me to some of the bands I listen to today, like Goldfinger, and The Dead Kennedys.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening - Never mind that it's an impressive blend of metal and electronic music - hearing the lyrics in the music during boss fights, and realizing those lyrics are supposedly the bosses themselves plotting your demise makes those already daunting encounters that much better.

Armored Core [series] - Each of the games I've played have had some great boss fight tunes, as well as great normal gameplay music. Nineball's Theme [AC1]& Fall [AC4] stand out to me, though. Nineball for the fact that you knew you were in for trouble, the moment the song comes on [in AC:Arena, it's pants crappingly frightening to hear "Target Confirmed, Beginning Hostilities"]. Fall for when and where it plays, and the overall feeling of the fight itself.

Plus, White Glint is just as fear inducing as Nineball.

Ace Combat V: The Unsung War - Puddle of Mudd's Blurry. I never expected to hear that song in the game, and when you do, it just seems to fit. It works so well with the moment you hear it.

These were just the standout soundtracks for me. I love game music in general. Without it, a lot of games would just fall flat.

They aren't in any particular order but from the top of my head (click title to listen on youtube):

1-

(Silent Hill 2)

2-

(Silent Hill 3)

3-

(Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops)

4-

(Silent Hill 2)

5-

(Metal Gear Solid 2)

6-

(Mass Effect 2)

7-

(Silent Hill 2)

8-You're not here (Silent Hill 3)

9-

(Silent hill 4: The Room)

10-

(Asura's Wrath)

These are just the ones I could think of and have been listening to recently.

Really late edit: I compeletely forgot about Nier and Mass Effect. I only listed games I had reecently played. I'll edit my list when I figure out my final selection. So many great OSTs left out. I feel ashamed :(
