Possibly a sequel because they did mention him in the game. The gameplay is like the previous games. Instead of one whole story line like the others, there's Cases. I am not sure how many but saw there is 12? So it's the same storyline but the cases are different. The style is great, you can customize Katrielle and the Layton Detectivr Agency office which is pretty cool. Also when you do get a new outfit for Katrielle, you get a puzzle along with it.
