Popular Post Dinkus83
I’d like to join in for the fun here too! I was in the event last year and was making good backlog progress until I got Covid mid-year. I’ve had a lot of problems with focus since then and just couldn’t get back to accomplishing much with games until lately. Big thanks to @BlazzingWind for bringing the event back! My list will be huge! (I’m hoping with a large list of varied games I can stick with just these games, no matter how I’m mentally doing any given day.) I’m also not at home this weekend, and my laptop refuses to connect with Wi-Fi where I am, so I’m posting from my phone and it may be a bit of a mess, but I’ll edit to be easier to read when I’m home in a few days if necessary. The PS5 has no such Wi-Fi issues, so I wanted to get the list done in case I progress something over that magic 33% lol. I had to pick and choose from leftovers from last year’s list since many of those were already over the cutoff, but let me know if I’ve counted anything wrong. 1. Horizon Forbidden West - 35% 2. Cozy Grove - 69% 3. The Town of Light - 37% 4. Overcooked! All you can eat - 17% 5. A Plague Tale: Innocence - 1% 6. Chicken Police - 8% 7. Erica - 28% 8. Lego DC Super-Villians - 17% 9. PC Building Simulator - 14% 23. Deliver Us the Moon - 7% 24. Operation: Tango - 7% 25. My Time at Portia - 12% 26. hack//GU Last Recode - 1% 27. King’s Quest (PS4) - 23% 28. The game had unique mechanics and the solutions to the puzzles aren't always as straightforward as you'd expect. Feels like a polished game with pretty graphics. The story service its purpose and keeps you engaged for the couple hours it takes to beat the game. The trophy list is just for "gold trophy farming" and doesn't take too much effort other than beating the game. Do look them up beforehand if you plan to play it otherwise you'll be replaying levels annoyingly to get them, Having just got the plat for Gardens myself as #139(I'll probably download the PS5 version to knock that on the back truck if I need another quick shot to fill up for later), I'd agree with you. The time manip mechanic was pretty decent and the story was very poignant.
Popular Post grumpaluffagus_1
Just got another platinum for March with Stray. It was a great relaxing game, but definitely glad I picked it up on sale not full price. The game itself wasn't difficult with the exception of the sections where my cat got VERY invested in what was happening, especially during chase scenes. I fully blame her for losing nine lives on my initial playthrough. Not sure what game will be next, but I might try to tackle one of the longer ones on my list.
Popular Post StraightVege
Wow, nice to see you folks have been obliterating your backlogs in my absence! Well done, everyone. Personally, I had planned to finish at least six games in March to make some kind of grand comeback, but we all know how plans often go awry... Hopefully, I can pick up the pace to avoid being left in the dust altogether. Anyhow, here's what I've actually managed to do this month, including some quick off-the-cuff thoughts. Sorry about the annoying lack of spoiler tags ahead, but that function seems rather unreliable on this forum—many times, a spoiler box won't open for some reason, regardless of how much I click it. Prepare for a long catch-up post: Psychonauts 2 A largely satisfying sequel, albeit one that does little to differentiate itself from the dated original. Ignoring the superior graphics and resolution, it's uncanny how much this feels like a follow-up which could have been released a mere couple of years after its predecessor. There's good and bad elements to this, obviously; nearly two decades later, the amazing vocal talent somehow haven't lost a step in portraying their quirky characters (especially the eminent Richard Horvitz as Raz), that familiar Double Fine sense of humor is intact, and the super creative level concepts are comparable in quality to some of the first game's most memorable stages. One of my favorites is a bizarre mishmash of casino and hospital imagery, when Raz delves into the mind of a former doctor with a gambling problem. On the other hand, the game felt only marginally improved mechanically, featuring similarly clumsy combat and platforming that rarely adds much to the experience of exploring fractured minds. Boss encounters in particular are just... not great. Thankfully, the provided accessibility options allow you to make these aspects as painless as possible, by removing fall damage and increasing the strength of Raz's attacks. I was also relieved to find that the notorious figment collectibles were far less of a headache to locate and grab this time around, since they're placed in a more reasonable manner, seem to have larger hitboxes for collection, and are usually easier to spot against the background than they used to be. Some of Raz's new PSI powers are quite useful as well; I'm partial to Time Bubble, which temporarily slows both environmental hazards and enemies, making them more manageable. Your favorite abilities can be bolstered via the new pin system, too, something I wish they'd done a bit more with, because it's probably the best addition. Besides the performance issues (LONG load times and stuttering), it's a solid game, but I guess I expected something more ambitious after all these years of waiting. Habroxia 2 Brought back fond childhood memories of getting annihilated in R-Type for the Sega Master System, except that the nicely balanced difficulty of this shmup never frustrates or discourages, making it enjoyable for mere mortals like myself. Surprised by how much I liked this little gem; couldn't seem to put it down, in fact, and games that hook me that badly are so vanishingly rare nowadays. For the low price of a few bucks (aren't sales awesome?), I received tons of well-crafted stages featuring multiple paths and bosses, impressive enemy diversity, two New Game Plus playthroughs that were actually different enough to be fun, and a good variety of gameplay modes. Fascinatingly, the game's interesting story and background lore are penned by none other than Colin Moriarty, formerly of IGN, whom I never agreed with on much outside of gaming. However, I do recall enjoying his reviews and whatnot, so it kinda shocked me to see his name in the credits. Honestly had no clue the guy was making games now. The ship has a 360-degree firing radius, directed twin-stick style on the right analog, which actually works extremely well in a side-scrolling space shooter of this sort. It lets you get strategic angles on the enemy, staying out of their many different patterns while safely blasting them. I also quite appreciated how the game encourages you to aggressively utilize your craft's boost ability in an offensive manner, ramming through foes and charging past dangerous sections full of projectiles. Additionally, the upgrade system is addictive, leading to you feeling really powerful when the primary gun is eventually maxed out on damage, fire rate, and spread. It was simply a delight to play overall, with my only complaint being the lack of an option for d-pad ship controls. I'm generally more comfortable with that in 2D titles, which made the Boost Mode levels—wherein you navigate through narrow passages at high speed—harder for me than they probably needed to be. A great game nonetheless! (And apparently, I'm pretty good at it or something?) Retro Classix: Two Crude In contrast to the above game, this one did absolutely nothing for me. Although I'm certainly a huge fan of beat 'em ups, I was never particularly compelled by the ones without 2.5D movement to avoid attacks and such. Bluntly, I found the game shallow, both literally and figuratively: you mainly trudge to the right while mashing buttons and hoping for the best, which isn't my idea of a good time. Worse, this post-apocalyptic brawler is an old-fashioned arcade title with the aim of stealing every last quarter, featuring no semblance of balance or fairness. Your lumbering Schwarzenegger wannabe gets stunlocked to death by practically everything, as you hammer the continue button to struggle your way forward. The protagonist's barehanded melee strikes are mostly ineffective, so it's better to rely on the game's main mechanic of grabbing and throwing stuff. Just spam grab on everything—enemies, objects, bosses, etc., while constantly using the evasive roll maneuver to advance. Of course, I still died constantly, especially to the ridiculously strong bosses. About the only aspect I didn't dislike is the 80s action movie art style; backgrounds cluttered with debris and graffiti, alongside suitably fashionable characters. Now, I'm quite sure there's dedicated players out there who adore this game enough to master it totally, performing 1CC runs and what have you, but I sure as hell am not one of them. The Outer Worlds While I haven't quite finished it yet (75% trophies), I think I'm comfortable with stating that I like this more than any modern Fallout game. All of its systems are nicely streamlined, the cast of companions are legit likeable, and its brutal satire of unfettered capitalism and corporate greed is genuinely funny—perhaps not in a "laugh out loud" manner, but in a morbid kinda way that had me smirking often. That sharp writing you'd expect from an Obsidian RPG is definitely in full effect here; I frequently found myself thinking of a clever line my character or companion might say next, only for it to actually appear in game mere moments later. The characters are that relatable, which is impressive. Areas and quests are pretty condensed compared to a Fallout, admittedly, but I almost see that as a plus, since the game doesn't overstay its welcome. Instead of VATS targeting, the equivalent here is essentially just a bullet time slo-mo that inflicts special crippling effects on enemies depending on where you choose to manually shoot them. This works well enough, and although the combat is nothing to write home about compared to true FPS titles, it's certainly more than adequate. A rather easy game on the default difficulty setting, though, so there's really no motivation to optimize your gear or anything. Heck, your companions do most of the work in fights if you let them. I adore the art design, too. Planets are so appealingly colorful, with flora and fauna which bring to mind cheesy film sets from retro sci-fi shows and movies. Most importantly, the game hasn't crashed once, unlike New Vegas, which froze literally every 30 seconds towards the end on PS3. Thus far, I'm quite enjoying my romp around the Halcyon star system with my ragtag crew of misfits, being a thorn in the side of megacorps. I'm sort of distraught about the upcoming sequel being a Microsoft exclusive now. ? Whoa, whoa, whoa... it's Rizzo's! Hurricane_Tanya
I also loved The Outer Worlds and I keep meaning to go back to it since I played it before the DLC came out and it looks delightful. I was happy that Psychonauts 2 was more of the same tbh, I was worried it wouldn’t be able to live up to the first one which is one of my all time favourite games. It would be nice to see them go bigger for a potential third game, but unfortunately that would also most likely be a Microsoft exclusive ?

Anyway, this review has convinced me to finally add it to this event's backlog - hopefully I can get it started with soon. I was hoping they'd release a PS5 version eventually, but seems like we get no such luck. Ah well. Anyway, good to see you're managing to be productive with your backlog! In other news, here's a fat update for y'all. Finally wrapped up Evil Dead: The Game, which is a beautiful disaster of a game. Wrapped it up at around 99 hours according to PSN, which sounds about right. The game's basically DBD if the survivors had guns (and were arguably more powerful than the killer.) It's a fun formula in theory, and I much prefer it to the rather passive gameplay of DBD, however it suffers from a host of balance issues; the demon seems to be overpowered at low skill levels, but very underpowered at higher skill levels, and the game has massive maps and is very teamwork dependent, as someone wandering off on their own can give the demon the xp they need to snowball to victory (speaking from personal experience as someone who got most of their exp playing demon.) Besides some annoying survivor trophies, it was rather fun all in all, and I've gotten quite good at my demon of choice, the Puppeteer, to the point where I win almost all of my games, even against what appear to be very experienced teams of all prestiged players. Unfortunately due to balance issues and a toxic playerbase the demon population has been in decline for months, resulting in very long queue times for survivors, and as such I cannot wholly recommend it to someone just starting out. Also finished Mythic Ocean, a charming indie game which is something like a 3D visual novel - you travel through a few underwater areas forming relationships with gods and giving them advice, influencing who gets to be the creator of the next world. It features a gorgeous art style and an even better, electronic soundtrack* that really contributes to the whole underwater aesthetic, and despite being rather short was all in all a wonderful little game. *Here, take a peep of what I mean: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=4IDZ0APLHZY&feature=share Good shit. As for an example of the game's quirkiness, and its art style, this little guy is one of the six potential gods you'll be interacting with: Anyway, besides that, played a bit of OhShape - fun game so far, but has a very limited track selection and I'm reallly not sure if I can make the 96 hour trophy, especially with it being an exercise game. We'll see. Also going to remove Dungeon Defenders Awakened next month because after playing it a bit more with my friends, we've decided that it's a dull, buggy game and a hideous port. On to prettier waters! And by that, I mean World War Z. Lastly, adding Resident Evil 2 and Psychonauts 2 to my backlog. I was compelled to unravel their many mysteries, even though the major plot twists are fairly obvious (I guessed both correctly). Of the two, I'd say Murder on Eridanos is the better experience. In it, you get hired to investigate the slaying of a famous aetherwave actress, and it really makes you feel like a noir detective. Also, one of the strongest science weapons is found there: the Spectrum Gatling. That thing shreds! Yeah, it sounds like Psychonauts 2 definitely won't disappoint you, then. ChecoMayor
Well, I got a very busy month (for what I'm used to complete) completing 3 games. Lego fatigue started showing up before I expected with only two Lego games played, probably because both games felt tedious and slow paced. I like to do stuff on Lego games, but Lego Batman didn't let me skip dialogues until I listened at least once, I know that Kevin Smith and Conan O'Brien probably did some writing in the game, but come on, introduction to a few characters were too long and really drag me down. I'm expecting the DLC to be straightforward, according to guides, it should take like 5 hours to complete every piece of it, but I hope to be well rested the time I got into it (June probably). And fucking hell with Nindroids, the game is weird, some levels are short (like 30 seconds) and others are way too long, then you can only use 3 Red Bricks limiting the studs you can earn, the amount of stuff that you can do in each level and duplicate, triplicate or more-ate the amount of times you have to replay a level because it asked you to beat it with 3 classes of characters. Oh, the prices, 60 millions studs for a Golden Main Character, first time ever playing a Lego game that I have to farm (replaying the same level like 10 times) to unlock a fucking character. I hope the last Lego Game on Vita I want to play isn't the same as this one, just give me relatively standard levels and replayability of maximum 3 times And finally Uncharted 3, I'm glad of myself 10 years ago, when they release the online as a F2P launcher, that allowed to reach level 20 if I recall correctly, it gave me the only trophy I had on that list, the one that is unobtainable now, then like the maniac that I am. I bought the Goty edition of the game, that let you obtain the CoOp online trophy. It took 10 years, but I finally pop it. Still like Uncharted 2 over any other game in the franchise. Points Breakdown (January) Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition [+1.0] (February) WWE 2K Battlegrounds [+1.0] (March) LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham [+1.0] (March) Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (March) LEGO Ninjago Nindroids Backlog list: Crash Bandicoot DLC Detroit: Become Human LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham DLC* LEGO City Undercover LEGO Dimensions LEGO Lord of the Rings LEGO Marvel Super Heroes LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Multiversus Pac-Man World RePac Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition DLC* South Park: Stick of Truth Yakuza 3 Added: WWE 2k22 And finally, for April I'm debating what 2 games over 33% to add. Probably Stray and Heavy Rain/Beyond/God of War, Stray will be my next platinum because it will be number 50, but the other games, should have to wait between the race against time of Multiversus (that's going down on June) and WWE 2k22 which servers will be dead by the end of the year. Busy April I guess
Popular Post Dinkus83
I managed to get back to The Pedestrian a couple days ago and finished that up. So, I did sneak a point in for March! I really enjoyed the puzzles in this game. It was different and had some interesting concepts (that sometimes took me a few minutes to get used to). The introduction of new elements was done well, I think. I only got irritated and looked something up once, and then immediately felt stupid for not having thought of it before lol. I got some time in on Forbidden West too, so I'm still on track to keep getting through that. I also want to add It Takes Two to my list, because I should've had it there initially. Going to play through that while I've got the EA play for a dollar month. If I do well keeping on task, I may add something else from EA's list, but we'll see. I like to do stuff on Lego games, but Lego Batman didn't let me skip dialogues until I listened at least once That nonskippable stuff is a staple in any LEGO game on the PS4 and a few on the PS Vita, you just live with it. My advice? Swap Ninjago Nindroids with Shadow of Ronin, it's a much more fun Ninjago game. I platted that and even though it had unskippable cutscenes, they were all funny. Also, do the Beyond Gotham DLC NOW. It's all very short and easy to clear and fun to play. I'd also do LEGO City Undercover, I really enjoyed that game despite its gargatuan open world. Once you get all of Chase's disguises, you can pretty much go anywhere.

Fallout: New Vegas (7%) Got a cheeky one in before the end of the month with South Park: Stick of Truth and it was funny and fairly decent but the amount of missables and need for a guide did ruin the experience a bit. Also question about the 3 over 33% that can be added in April. Is that 3 more, bringing up the total on the backlog that is over 33% to 3 or if that 3 have been used at the start of the year then it's already used? Popular Post be_minor
Debated on whether to go for a shorter game to finish up the month strong, but decided against it. It’s my best backlog month yet either way. Out of all the games I’ve played in March, I highly recommend Dysmantle (I’ll probably go for the PS4 stack in a few months). It’s a resource-gathering open world indie that’s best experienced with a podcast or show in the background. A bit of a map-clearing grind for the platinum but nothing too tedious. Platted in approximately 40 hours. KillerUni12
I finished up Sound Shapes before the month wrapped up! It was a fun game, hard enough to be frustrating but not enough to ruin it Adding Bugsnax and The Evil Within to the list!

Dinkus83
I have a quick question about the timeframe for duplicate games. I just finished the PS5 version of lawn mowing simulator, but it’s not on my list (didn’t make the cut of games over 33%), so I don’t get points. I’m going to play the PS4 version. I just started it up and did one contract to check that nothing autopops. Can I add it to my list and get a point for that if I play it sometime in the next couple months, or is it disqualified for a while even though I didn’t get a point for the first one? Darling Baphomet
Been waiting for the turn of the month for a bit now, lol. Haven't finished anything else yet, but I'm working on it. Hurricane_Tanya
It’s April and I have decided to remove Knack and Fallout 76, I’ve added Tchia a couple weeks ago in March, and I’d like to also add Powerwash Simulator, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider Definitive Edition which is definitely above 33%, but the last trophies I have are for grinding up to level 60 in multiplayer and unlocking everything in multiplayer so it might take a while still. Last month was a bit of a slow month for me, hopefully I’ll get a few more games done this month. I think I have 23 games left to go on my list so I better get a move on.

I've played Knack before and did not enjoy having to play the story 238 times just to get all of the crystals because you can't respawn chests. Also, I heard horror stories about Fallout 76 so you probably were better off not playing that.
