MidnightDragon
According to the Los Angeles Tourism Board of Commissioners, E3 has already been canceled for 2024 and 2025. https://www.psu.com/news/e3-has-been-cancelled-for-2024-and-2025/ Wouldn't it just be easier to say it’s gone for good? Rias Gremory
I say it's a good thing. Summer Game Fest is much better then E3 ever could of. Edited July 14, 2023 by Hatsune Miku
HuntingFever
...and on that day, nothing of value was lost. In all seriousness though, E3 has circling the drain for years at this point so it's inevitable they will kill it off completely in the extremely near future.
Dangisuckatgamin
Not shocked at all. I hardly ever tune in to most of these anyway. A lot of times games are delayed for months at a time once we even get a release date lol.

Popular Post ConAir
Yeah, this is the end of E3. Publishers found other ways, I mean cheaper ways, to promote their games and reach the audience.

SelectiveGamer
Wasn't this already known anyway? Don't really see how this is shocking or breaking news. But okay.
Slava
How many more E3's can they cancel? Let's cancel E3 2026-2030 next month.
Burritoprime
The only downside is that Crowbcat won't be making any new videos of the cringe fest that it's E3.

Ubi still had cringe during their showcase, so not all is lost!
TrophyChief
Sad, but I get it. Other promotional opportunities out there.
Herwest299
I don't know why everyone seems so happy E3 is dead. It was that one huge event gamers look forward to in the year with so many big reveals. Not to mention the unintentional cringe moments. I hate whatever the hell companies are doing now. Seems like they just put out a showcase every once in a while that's either hit or miss.

Not for me it wasn't and hasn't been since 2017/2018. E3 has been mostly irrelevant for years, at least partly because a lot of the good gaming news, leaked months in advance so you already knew what was coming. The Pandemic was the final nail in the coffin for many of these events, especially once developers and publishers realised they didn't need to spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Dollars going somewhere to show off their wares, when they could cut out the middleman and do the same thing in-house for peanuts, then stream it on Youtube or some other social media platform. RadiantFlamberge
I'm not too saddened by E3 going bye, and frankly not surprised. It's not the end of the industry though. Even with this door closed, game publishers and studios have other ones open to them.

All E3 game shows was very expensive and now not need show, just Geoff infinite talks with game trailers sometimes near him.
MidnightDragon
ESA has said nothing has been decided. Also altered the title a bit. https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2023/06/23/esa-responds-to-e3-2024-2025-cancellation-rumors/
Viper
Why are they so adamant about hanging on to an event everyone has moved on from? In fact it'd probably be more beneficial to officially announce the retirement of E3 and bring it back when you can, several years down the line and you can grab that nostalgia excitement and do a huge show.
