Platinum Trophies in 2023

Originally this year was the year when I got to my 100th Platinum. However, I set my priorities straight and didn't want any shovelware or PS3 games this year, just PS4. I also wanted to finish some games that I felt were overdue for a long time and glad to have them done. Ultimately I wanted one platinum per month, well I was close but I just got my 10th platinum and I am somewhat glad of the progress I ended up.

 

1. Donut Country (January 25) - A nice and enjoyable game, very easy but refreshing.

2. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (March 22) - So glad to have this one done as this was the first Lego game I got for the PS4.

3. Star Wars Episode 1: Racer (May 22) - Technically an easy game, but I wanted to play this old PS1 game for some nostalgic vibes.

4. Back To The Future: The Game (June 5th) - Probably the last Tell Tale game I'll ever play, I was familiar with this one as I also played it on PC.

5. It Takes Two (September 5th) - Glad that my brother and I finished this game together, definitely an emotional and creative journey.

6. Far Cry 5 ( September 25) - For a while, I was debating between platinum this game or Sniper Elite 4, but this one won out due to its easier multiplayer.

7. Life Is Strange: True Colors (October 26) - The last game of this franchise I'll ever play, Thou it was kind of forgettable game, but not bad at all.

8. NieR: Automata (November 18) - So happy to have this one done, been on and off constantly and it's been on my backlog for 6 1/2 years!

9. Wolfenstein: Youngblood (November 28) - Honestly this was the worst platinum I got this year, mainly because it was an uninspired and weak sequel.

10. Ratchet and Clank: 2016 (December 20) - Pretty good game, never played any game of this franchise before but I kind of wish I played it sooner.

 

Next year though, I'm getting that 100th!

Thank you very much! To be fair the MGS3 Foxhound rank isn't that bad with 25 saves. On the other hand The Big Boss rank on MGS2 was a pain, especially the first time, with only 8 saves. But still I prefer it from the PS3/ Vita versions since the newest one's don't have the blue wig trophy and of course the one to complete all those damn VR missions. Congrats on the MGS you have, they require a lot of effort. Also I saw that you have all GoW games so excellent job on those ones too! 🙂

Pretty happy with the progress I made this year. Once again I managed to get my moneys worth from PS+ Essential & Extra which account for half the games I finished. I discovered a lot of nice indie gems in there, and found lots of chill easy games to keep the trophies flowing! My big goals for 2023 though were to try and increase my UR count and bag some tougher plats in the process. I started with around 300 and my target was to hit 500 UR trophies by the end of the year, which I managed to do this month, as well as to overcome some more challenging platinums in the process. There’s half a dozen that I’m quite proud of and have wanted to add to my list for some time so I have to say trophy-wise that 2023 was quite a success. 🙂

Goals for 2024

 

I’ve been waiting a few years hoping for a slim model PlayStation 5 to release and for next-gen to finally feel like it’s actually taking off, and well, it’s beginning to feel like it’s time. I’m planning to order a PS5 slim model in the new year so I can start off the year with a new console, which should be exciting!

 

I’m also planning to participate in a couple PSNP events again. My goals for 2024 are fairly similar: I want to try and step my game up a bit and see if I can hit 750 URs by year’s end, as well as challenge myself to try and bag a few more tough ones. I’d also like to dedicate more time to cleaning up some of my incomplete games to raise my completion % and clearing some stuff out of the backlog, particularly older PS3 games that might have an expiration date.

 

Anyways…  enough of my blabbing. I’ve really enjoyed reading through this thread and seeing what you guys have each accomplished this year. You guys might not realize it but this community of trophy hunters (all of you) are what keeps me motivated and inspired year after year to continue trophy hunting and loving every minute of it.
