Personally I think this is gonna be a minefield for sites like this.

 

And I get the feeling these 'accessibility options' were what started it.

 

And no I don't mean the accessibility options that actually allowed for people who otherwise couldn't play a game are now able to, I mean the ones that allowed you to skip sections of gameplay, auto solve puzzles and remove key aspects of gameplay.

I'm pretty sure this is a old patent, maybe updated with some new language. As with most patents, this will probably go nowhere the headlines claim it will.

Companies patent a lot of ideas they never use. I can think of a few that involved ad breaks during games. Still doesn't stop people freaking out about it, though.

Sony can grind credits for me in GT7.

It would depend on how extreme the grind is for a specific trophy. I'd use it for something like the Machine Man trophy in Resistance 2 (10,000 kills is something I'd never go for again in a trophy) but spending X hours in-game, I'd do normally, since the odds are I would be taking my time playing the game anyway.

I love this diagram. The dude gets up, puts his hands up, shouts "McDonald's!" and then sits back down quietly. It's exactly how I would do it

Puzzle quest 3 has also an “autobattle” mode - can be a good system if not mandatory

In practice, it'll probably function more like assist mode in some Nintendo titles. But it's down to how a given game dev wants to use it.
