Popular Post No longer here
#186 & 100% - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PS5) Enjoyment/Rating: 9.5/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Tiime: 162 Hours PSNP Rarity: 7.99% PSN Rarity: 0.5% I didn't finish the game 1st time around on the PS4 because I think I was burned out from another game, but mainly it's because it didn't run so well on base PS4, so I let it go. What a MISTAKE that was, I missed out a masterpiece! The better PS5 version came out so I wanted to play it once again. Ran mostly fine for me and some frame drops here and there but overall the experience was immersive! The strongest parts of this game comes from narrative and characters, all of them are memorable! The monsters/enemies were so nicely designed and the music was superior in every way. The side quests in this were also very strong and can be its own story. The way you can set up your alchemy/signs class was also pretty fun in anticipation for the fight. You can also literally overpowered the game with a good alchemy/combat build (Euphoria). Literally almost no positives for this game and it came out nearly 8 years ago! It holds up well for all those qualities listed above! The only thing that i think didn't hold up well is the sword combat as in itself, it is just press square or triangle, or to cheese it, just hold square to use whirl and it becomes exploitable. I think over time, the combat did show its age. While it was fun and still satisfying, this is probably my only negative of the game. However, everything else overshadows that negative and the experience was barely altered. I can see why it won GOTY in 2015, it is nearly a perfect game and it beat out my favorite game of all time Bloodborne. I gotta say that just because, The DLCs Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are some of the best I've ever played! The story was so good and well written! The new area in Blood and Wine was amazing and the antagonists in both the DLCs were really thoughtful! The standard CD Project Red set was so high man, it's the reason I rated this game as high as I did despite my combat statements. Did I forget to mention Gwent? I was addicted to it from nearly the beginning! i love card games in general so this appealed to me in every way. It was pretty cool to realize in an already huge game, they decided to add a unique card game that allows players to decompress from the gameplay a bit, it was a smart move but ultimately it was one of the most unique parts of the game! If you haven't play this then you should obviously.... I mean im probably the only person that just played through this for the first time lol. Had great memories with this game.

Popular Post Mariner1534
#79: God of War Ragnarok (PS5) - The Bear and the Wolf A solid follow-up to the 2018 game. Enjoyed the story (despite some pacing issues), and I thought the combat was better than what I remember of the last game. Absolutely gorgeous on PS5 as well. However, I felt like those pacing issues I mentioned held back the overall experience a bit for me. In particular, I never really liked playing Spoiler as Atreus that much. His combat was just far less satisfying than Kratos', and certain sections (especially Ironwood) went on too long, IMO. I also felt like the game was sometimes too "cinematic" at times - a lot of long cutscenes and "let's walk really slow for a while and talk" sequences, when I just wanted to play. Granted, I still enjoyed most of those scenes, but a bit more interactivity would've been nice. Ragnarok was still a lot of fun, though definitely not perfect. If you liked 2018 you'll like this. The plat was pretty easy, and a similar process to the last game's: beat the story, get most of the important collectibles, do most of the side content, beat up some super-bosses. Nothing missable (although the "Besties" trophy is apparently buggy) or difficulty-specific. Hardest part of the game was probably the two major superbosses, although you can just drop the difficulty all the way if you're struggling. Backtracking for collectibles can still be kind of tedious/annoying in certain areas, but at least this game's more generous with the fast travel. Popular Post voodoo_eyes
#636 - Bright Memory Infinite This one surpassed my expectations. While not great, it's a pretty solid and fun FPS. The unfortunate part about this game are the unskippable cutscenes and the length. Around 3h on the hard difficulty and that's not using the exploit. For that length it's really only worth it on sale. Difficulty: 4 (without exploit) Enjoyment: 7 Edited January 24, 2023 by voodoo_eyes
Popular Post Valzentia
#142 - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R Difficulty: 2/10 Fun: 8/10 My second JoJo game. Bought this on a whim much like Eyes of Heaven. It's a lot less story-focused than EoH; basically a recap of the manga and nothing more with a bunch of dream fights thrown in. Nothing is really super difficult here, so it's perfect if you're just getting into fighting games if you ask me. It's also very faithful to the franchise which is always great when it comes to what is technically a licensed title. Jotaro and Josuke 8 are stupid OP though.
Popular Post Ala-Arska
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below Glory Hunter Awarded for successfully acquiring every trophy Instead of an actual review, the following might just be a compilation of medieval puns. I can do those all knight and day. I like the Dragon Quest series. DQ VIII is one of my all-time favorites. Heroes...was something else for a change. Instead of old fashioned turn-based combat, it was more of an action oriented slashing and hacking. I myself am used to take my time against huge reptiles and such, but at least now those battles wouldn't dragon. Main story is kinda easy and fun to do, with no stress behind it. Post-game on the other hand was almost too much for my short temper, though. Hence the 1+ year pause with this game I like to "overdo it" with games like this. Crafting the best possible accessories for every situation took a lot of Mini Medal farming. Massive dragon bosses never had to do that, they could just wing it. Veteran monsters were easy enough, once you got the right characters and equipment for them. I loved owning huge Cyclops beasts with just a sword. Eye could see the point in that. Originally I had planned to Plat this last weekend, but unfortunately I succumbed to illness. The doctor said it was a case of Saturday Knight Fever Even if DQ Heroes ain't what you might expect, it's still medieval enough to be a peasant experience

Popular Post MikkelEhlers
#126 - Yooka-Laylee Collectomaniac Collect every Trophy in Yooka-Laylee Yooka-Laylee is until now the worst game I completed in 2023. It has got some tough competition, but when I first got this almost 4 and half years ago, I had my expectations up there. I quickly found out that my expectations were way too high and quit the game, 4 and a half years later (a couple of days ago) I picked it up again, with my expectations much lower, and was therefor pleasantly surprised for the most part. It really shows how much expectations can ruin a game for you. If I just knew the game wasn't all that good those 4 and half years ago I would have had a great time with it, but when you expect something great the little things cause major problems. A lot of platformers this January - not sure why. I really do like this trophy image - That's one great thing about the game, they nailed the art design imo. There were a lot of things I didn't like about this game: The controls, the way they handled "small" collectables, the hub world, world 2 & 3, the mini games (freaking Kartos), the camera, and so on. But I want to focus on the good things. Although this isn't a game I would recommend anyone looking for platformer or a collectathon, it does have its fun and it should be recognised. I guess it's a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, but how would I know, I never played them, (I hope they're better though, or else they're pretty overrated lol) The game is not too long. It asks of you to collect 100 out of 145 Pagies to enter the final boss, who is actually a pretty good platformer boss fight if you ask me. Multiple stages and they don't go easy on you. Actually most of the bosses in this game I would say are okay and maybe some of the highlights of some of the worlds, except the casino one of course. However, the 100 Pagies is totally doable, and it is the amount I found by going through each world once (even though I skipped half the collectables in the first world) and I reached 101 after the final world. I could easily at that point have went back to the first and got more, so it's an appropriate amount for a casual playthrough. I like that between every world and in every world you get one or more abilities, which are almost always useful. They are all used for something, at least until you get the flying ability. And also they are fun to use, most of them. The roll for example, they made it much faster than normal traversal so you want to roll around, but it's also hard to steer when rolling, so it balances out. At first I might have thought "the roll has terrible steering and control", I tried turning it to, "the roll is much faster but it's pretty difficult to master". When it comes to mediocre games, everything comes down to how you view it (except for problems like camera, those are just frustrating). Now it becomes more fun to use, and you can try rolling through a stage as fast as possible but risk falling off the edge and losing even more time. I liked the different references to other video games and the meta dialogue were sometimes humorous. And also the fact that every Pagie offered a unique challenge instead of every collectable being collected in the same way, you actually had to do a bunch of varied tasks. Also the ghost were fun to figure out how to collect, but after the first they were just another collectable. And then there's the secret pirate treasure which was pretty cool stumbling upon when flying all over the levels after completing the game. I guess you can find them before, but I found them all after when looking for the last collectables. The tonics were a cool addition, but I think it's a shame you can only equip one. Because of that I only really used the one were your power regenerates faster (Because that is almost necessary for the last boss, for me at least) and then the one that makes a sound when you're near a collectable. I'd prefer they were harder to unlock and then act more like cheats where you can activate more than one, because there weren't really any of them that were overpowered. I mean one made you wear pants, and one made the aesthetics 64 bits, but if you wanted to use them you had to give up something actually useful, which is an unfortunate way to do it. Maybe should have made gameplay altering tonics and appearance altering tonics to separate things that did not overlap. The trophies were pretty basic, not much other the, collect all the stuff. Actually that's all there is. If you 100% the game you get the platinum. I do appreciate that sometimes, that you can just take your time with a game and play it on your own terms and complete it to get the platinum. I do think however, that the different abilities would have lead to some fun challenges to do, but probably also infuriating, so glad it was kept at that. I guess the pirate treasure isn't technically needed in the game for 100% since it don't show on menus, so I guess there are some extra. I think my favourite feature was the abilities you unlocked. I was excited when I was about to get new abilities. Also it made it much more fun to traverse the worlds, and especially backtracking to previous worlds with new abilities. All in all, it's an okay game. I know here I'm highlighting all the positives, I do have a lot of negatives as well. I wouldn't recommend the game, but if someone told me they were going to play it I would say I had my fun with it. I just think it deserves some positives because I did have fun, I think from what I've seen it's mostly negative feedback on the game. Popular Post Nauticus87
#728 - Savage Halloween For my 30,000th trophy I wanted to do something memorable, but wasn't sure what. As it got closer I decided I might want it to be a platinum. When starting Gigantosaurus: The Game (#727) I realised I would be 5 short of 30,000. My original idea was to stop 5 trophies short of the platinum, get them in a different game, then come back and finish the platinum for the trophy milestone, but instead I found this in my backlog, 5 trophies short of the platinum. After a tough hardcore run and a much more manageable no-loss run on normal I had my ultra-rare platinum 30k trophy milestone.

I'm not that into manager games, but I like F1 so I gave this a try. I still prefer the F1 racing games, but this was nice change of pace. Trophy list was quite easy and simple and I'm pretty sure you can do everything really fast if you choose Red Bull as your team. I chose Ferrari and it took me two seasons to win constructors championship and three seasons to get the drivers title as Carlos Sainz. I actually enjoyed this game so much that I'm probably gonna keep playing this even after the Platinum and maybe start a new career with some worse team. We'll see. Popular Post DrBloodmoney
555 695 Toem A short, funny, charming little photo-adventure game from Something We Made, Toem takes a cute, black and white, sketchbook aesthetic, adds some whimsical and goofy characters, and weaves a little big adventure as a young man on the cusp of adulthood in his sleepy, idyllic, paper-craft world, is given a camera by his mother, and sent on his coming-of-age journey: to travel to the top of a local mountain, and witness "the phenomenon" that waits atop it. Taking the role of that young man, the player travels from one small biome to another - each a stop along the bus route to the mountain - helping locals, photographing wildlife, making friends, and earning enough "social credit" to earn a bus-pass stamp, allowing access to the next location. In terms of gameplay, Toem is relatively slight, and not particularly challenging, however, this is not to its detriment. The game plays essentially as a mission based exploration /adventure game. Many of the denizens of the world will have a small mission or task they can be helped with - and these can always be accomplished by either taking, or showing them, specific photographs. Sometimes these are plainly obvious - "show me a picture with my whole Hotel in frame" is fairly self-explanatory, and the trick is simply finding your way to a spot where that is possible - while some might be a little more adventure-game-adjacent, and require a bit of lateral thinking - for example, photographing "5-living creatures in one shot" can take some figuring out to find a good spot - but they never really require much more. In addition, a "photo compendium" that can be filled out, requiring pictures of every type of flora, fauna and a variety of biome specific landmarks means the player is always rewarded and encouraged to take photos of everything they see as they journey. While the lack of challenge might at first seem like it would make the game lack substance - particularly given that the run time of the Toem, from start to finish, clocks in at only around 3-4 hours - it never really feels that way - and that is primarily due to care taken in its crafting. The world itself, while minimalist in art-style, is charming and whimsical as hell, genuinely varied from biome to biome, and while small in terms of floor plan and real estate, is remarkably densely populated in terms of things to do. Each biome contains between 10 and 20 areas, and each will be home to multiple quest-givers, a plethora of things to photograph, and unique things to see or do. As well as the individual, "one-and-done" missions, there are a smattering of longer-form, biome-spanning missions given in the initial area, which serve as further additions to the games sizeable task list, tying the whole game together more neatly. While all this "tasks-upon-tasks" compounding, in tandem with the lack of objective challenge, should, by rights, result in the game feeling like a simple filling out of a checklist, the real joy in Toem is in its tone and light nature, and in the exploring. NPC characters are simple caricatures, but their dialogue is well written - charming, and often genuinely funny - and simply travelling the world, meeting all these little characters, and seeing the binds they have got themselves in is the real fun of the game. The fact that the player can then help them out, or complete a task for them is almost immaterial as a gameplay challenge device - it simply serves as a fun way to see more of their strange little world, and meet more of them. Also, despite the fact that there is really only a single method for "solving" each and every mission in the game - by using the camera to take photos - the game does manage to squeeze a good variety of wrinkles on top of that. Whether it's competing in games of hide-and-seek, where pointing the camera at the contestants identifies where they are, or revealing ghosts who only show up in the view-finder, or even using the camera's view-finder as a makeshift FPS view to throw water-balloons - the game's core principle and core credentials as a photo-taking simulator are maintained, but never adhered to so fully as to be at the expense of variety or fun. There are a couple of minor grumbles with the game - a few of the solutions to the missions can tend to be a little too prescriptive (for example, I know for certain I managed to create situations where a photograph clearly showed what should be valid solution to a photo-challenge, but wasn't the one the game had in mind,) though this isn't a huge problem, and not one exclusive to Toem. The biggest issue, actually, can be genuinely irksome issue later in the game, though: the camera's memory bank. For some reason, the camera provided to the player is only capably of storing a finite number of pictures, and once it fills up, there can follow a rather cumbersome, busy-work task of deleting some to make room. Because this likely happens towards the end of the game, but while there are still some tasks outstanding, it can be a little troublesome to go through, deleting photos, but trying to avoid accidentally deleting one the player might still need to show to someone - particularly for some of the broader, more game-spanning missions. It's not a massive problem, but it does seem an unnecessary one - the photos are still, small, black-and-white images. there is no real reason for the game to limit them in number, on a console with 500GB to spare! This decision does, as a result, feel a little arbitrary. The visual style of Toem is, as said, fairly simple in terms of detailing, but that is not to say it looks anything less than great. The paper-craft looking black and white world in crisply drawn and inviting, and looks really nice - both in rotating isometric (as it is while exploring,) and in first-person (as the game switches to when taking photos.) The actual style is somewhere close to the whimsical, construction-paper aesthetic of Deathspank (without the colours, of course,) but that doesn't really do it justice in 2022. Toem's visuals are a cut above that style, removing any of the raggedy edges, and dissonance of compounding elements, and feels cohesive, delicate and smooth - and rather than simply using that art-style, it leans into it for it's comedic beats in a way Deathspank was never fully able to. Deathspank was a comedy game, and worked, but those comedic moments came almost exclusively from the writing and dialogue. Toem is able to make use of visual gags too - and it's cartoonish, Phinias and Ferb style characters work well in this context. The breezy, bouncy tone of the game is aided further by the audio - there is no voice work in Toem, but the score is light and airy, and very pleasant. While not a core I would listen to independently, I was often reminded of the score to another "breezy, light-adventure vacation" game - The Touryst. The score of each biome is used to convey the distinct settings, but there is a general high-quality and thematic through-line to the protagonist's journey, that while upbeat and unsupposing, does manage to imbue the finale moment with some awe and gravitas, to accompany the final leg of the journey up the mountain, and the majesty of "the phenomenon." Without spoilers, I will say, the curious non-specificity with which the NPC characters refer to "the phenomenon" works within the game, and what it actually is works in an oddly poignant way, within the mild, light tone of the game. Overall, Toem is a great little game. It's not a difficult one by a long stretch - indeed, one could hardly find a less challenging way to pass an afternoon on a console - however, it is a loving crafted, often funny, and permanently delightful little experience. It packs in a ton in its limited scope and run-time, varies across its whole experience, and looks and sounds really lovely. It won't keep a player long, but for what time it does ask for, it makes very good use.
