Maddawgmax
Progress: 1/12 Ok so I got through chapter one okay, just an issue with the first car chase get somewhat towards the end die only to watch that dumb cutscene 3 times and have to do the whole chase. Other then that smooth sailings. Chapter 2 now this is where I'm really getting pissed off. Keep dying to the second batch of crab robot things but it kicks me all the way back to the start of chapter 2. 4th attempt and my game freezes in the middle of the fight with the first batch of crab robots. Thank God this is a relatively short game or I'd be raging pretty hard already. Edited July 1, 2016 by Maddawgmax
Popular Post MStalker58
Game #1: Helldivers Day 1 Once the patches finally finished downloading last night, I decided to try Helldivers for an hour or so. After loading the game up, I was immediately treated to a cutscene with a dramatic voice telling me that I'm about to become a hero, a legend. I was pumped and ready to become a Helldiver. Spent the next few minutes finishing my basic training. The excitement was flowing and I was thinking "Let's do this." Clicked to play the main game and guess what I saw next: Failure to connect to online multiplayer. Not a great start. After getting the same msg a couple of times, I restarted my PS3 and luckily was able to login without any errors. Unfortunately, now my only problem was how bad I sucked at this game. I jumped into the Galactic Campaign and picked the easiest mission I could find. I was thrown into the mission solo and got absolutely destroyed my first few attempts. In this game, you have certain objectives you need to complete while avoiding/killing waves of enemy patrols. One of the main things is learning how to use stratagems which are special items like ammo drops, turrets, or missile drops. To use these, you have to hold the L1 button and press 4-5 direction inputs on the D-Pad for each one. I had no idea where/when to use these items at first and was so confused trying to input them. I was seriously glancing down at my controller and looked like someone who had never played a video game in their entire life. After a few failed attempts, I was starting to make a little progress and completed 1 of 3 objectives for the mission. Was about to die again when miraculously some random player jumped into my game and saved my ass. This dude had to hate my guts. I wasn't aware that you could kill your teammates with friendly fire, so I accidentally dropped a bomb on him once and also shot him in the back while I was frantically running away from enemies like a complete coward. Finally I decided to chill on the other side of the screen and kill a few enemies while he dominated the final 2 objectives. He completely carried us, and basically threw me over his shoulder, carrying me on his back while completing the mission. I could feel his hatred coming through the screen at me. I was ready to quit for the night anyways, but I signed off really quickly after the match. I'm anticipating a friendly worded message waiting in my inbox, telling how horrible I am at Helldivers and that I should never play it again. Here's hoping today goes better.
Oobedoob S Benubi
Me and my big mouth, getting into a month long dive... I now have lying around: Bloodborne LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens And as of today I added: DOOM LEGO Marvel's Avengers Transformers Devastation I guess this is partly why I decided to do this though. I keep finding new awesome games and I keep ignoring PS+ games I don't know well enough.
Popular Post effdeegee
July 1-3 Child of Eden I roll over this morning, rise up from my bed and think, Happy Canad... holy sweet Jebus it's 9:30am and it's like 1,000 degrees outside. I ain't doin' shit today. Screw that noise. I open every window and door in the place and put together a load of laundry (yeah, this is how old folks party down, yo). Well, since I'm stuck in the house (because I don't have any sunblock that's SPF A BILLION), I might as well give Child of Eden a go, eh? I move the coffee table, pull up a chair, plug in the PS Eye, get the Move controllers out, turn on the PS3 and insert the game. The game boots up immediately; no patches, no install, nothing. Nice. I'm treated to a short, silent intro movie and some reading. The story is both decent and slightly retarded, but meh whatevs, we're not here for story, we're here for pretty pew pew lights and using the Move, so LET'S GO!I calibrate the Move wand (it doesn't use the nunchuck, btw) and begin. The first thing I notice is that there is a tutorial every 5 or 10 seconds and that gets pretty annoying, pretty quickly, but I digress. You hold the wand in front of you, straight up and down, like you're holding a flag, and the aiming reticle locks on to targets, where you then flick the wand forward, like you would flicking food from a spoon, and this launches little protons at the targets. You can highlight 8 targets at a time and I get the impression that every shot is judged on things like, how many you locked on, how long it took to lock a group when they entered the screen, how quickly you killed them, keeping a combo going, total targets in that section "purified," etc. There's other little things like purple enemies/items can only be shot with the trigger (T button) and there's a health bar aspect, where you can be hit and find health pickups and stuff. There's also an item you can pick up called Euphoria and that nukes every target on the screen. You activate it with the Move button and I'm not sure if it gives extra points or not. There appears to only be 5 levels, 2 difficulties and lots of upgrades and unlockables.I played the first two levels and nabbed myself 8 new trophies.

Oobedoob S Benubi
Game #1: Tropico 5 First day Total playtime: about an hour and a half Just completed the tutorial, obtaining my first trophy. Here we go... As I said in my first impressions: nice graphics and music, it's really a relaxing game. I get the game a bit more now, man there are a lot of options... It's kind of like Sim City but there's enough differences to keep it fresh. I should add that I never got that far in any Sim City except for the first one on the SNES, where my city became a metropolis. Love some of these jokes they've put in there, like the Plank constant. My only complaint for now is that many of the texts in the game are way too small to read on a normal position from the tv, I needed to sit much closer (and my eyes are fine, thank you, jerk). Tomorrow I'll go into the campaign. Edited July 4, 2016 by BillyHorrible

Popular Post MStalker58
Helldivers Day 1 (continued) Yep, I liked effdeegee's format so I'm stealing it. Anyways, I loaded up Helldivers to play some more today. Saw that Hemiak was online this morning so I jumped into a game with him. At the very start, I was trying to press L1 to look at my stratagems and accidentally hit L2. So, literally the very first thing I did when entering the match was launch a grenade that hit Hemiak right in the face and killed him. Actually, I think it might have killed us both but can't remember. Sorry about that Hemiak. After that horrendous start though, I think I'm finally starting to get a better handle on things and understanding the game more. Our team completed a couple of missions and ranked up a little. After that session, I joined another group and we completed a mission in the next tier up of difficulty. I think there are 4 tiers of missions on this current planet, so 2 more and I guess I've cleared that planet? I'm not really sure how to unlock some of the better and cooler stratagems that I see other people using though. As for trophies, think I've unlocked 7 now but I have no idea what half of them even were since I haven't really looked at a guide. Glad I scheduled this game on a Friday, because looking at the trophy descriptions now and it appears that one of them was for having all 4 players sitting together in an APC on a Friday. Anyways, think I'm going to take a break for a bit and try some more this evening. Edited July 1, 2016 by MStalker58

Hemiak
Game #1: Helldivers Day 1 My day 1 story is very similar to Stalker's. I did the tutorial last night, then went to bed. This morning I had 20 min so I fired it up, customized my character a bit, and started the lowest level I could find. 3 minutes later I was dead. I believe I finished part 1 of 4 for the first objective before being spotted by a scout and quickly overwhelmed by enemies. Tried it again, pretty much the same thing, though I lasted slightly longer. Shut it down for a couple hours. Fired it back up and went into the mp section. Found a guy who had just started a level 3 (easy) mission. Turns out he was level 25 and knew his shit. I just told him over mic that I was brand new and would be following his lead. 5 seconds later another guy (level 11) joined up. We completed two missions, and then (trumpets blaring) Stalker joined us. we did 2 more missions and then I had to take off of for work. I feel like with even the small amount of practice I got its feeling a little more intuitive. Looking forward to playing more tonight. Edit:@Max - at least two of the character pack DLCs, and both DLC packs that add trophies, ARE included with the ps+ version we got. It lists them right on the main splash page. Just thought you might like to know. snip A few answers for questions you didn't ask. if you're interested. The tutorial crap only shows up your first run through the first level I believe. If I does show up its skippable. Euphoria doesn't grant you bonus points, and it actually costs you the points of all enemies killed by it. You also get a bonus of 50k points for each unused Euphoria at the end of the level. You only get points for enemies killed. You get more points with the lock on if you time your shots to the beat. You increase your multiplier by getting Perfect Octo Locks. (8 enemies targeted, released on beat) you only lose your multiplier if you miss an Octo lock. Spamming tracer(purple) and locking 1-7 enemies has no affect on your multiplier. There's a bonus archive(level) called Hope, once you meet certain requirements, which I can't remember right now. Hope you're having fun, and I couldn't imagine playing it with the move. Edited July 1, 2016 by Hemiak

MStalker58
LOOL that part made me snort. "Hey there, buddy! How's it OOPS OH SHIT SORRY!" Poor Hemiak. Yep, that's pretty much how it happened. There didn't appear to be any fighting going on at the time either, so I couldn't play it off like I was trying to kill some enemies or something. Guess it might have been a good thing that we were away from the combat zone since we had to wait for another teammate to revive/respawn us. Luckily we got revived and carried on like nothing happened and completed the mission.
effdeegee
I think it's totally worth pointing out that, on this day, July 1st, Canada Day, I just happen to have 1,867 unearned trophies. I think that is pretty friggin' cool.
Popular Post MarkusT1992
Wolfenstein: The New Order I only managed to play about one hour and only finished chapter 2 and a little part of chapter 3. I allways thought the Wolfenstein games ar about WW 2 but it seems it's a fictional scenario in which the Germans won. So far the story is ok but nothing special. Maybe it will get better later on. As I said before I'm not the shooter type. My enemy and I stood about two or three meters away and I only hit him with my fifth shoot Apart from that the shooter mechanics are good. I only need to hit. Somehow I get detected after killing a few people stealthy. When this happens it's a bit harder to get through because you have an infinite supply of enemies till you kill the general. But this way it encourages you to be sillent which isn't bad especially when you want all the collectibles.
Popular Post MesopithecusUK
Game #1. Rainbow Moon Current Play Time: 3 Hours Trophies: 4/53 It's been so long that I can't remember if I bought this game or if I waited until it was free on PS+ Anyway, made a good start on it today and all initial impressions are positive. I chose to play on a normal difficulty option and it then gave me 4 options for play style and I think I chose the easiest one (yeah yeah, I know I'm a wimp) Cue opening cut scene which was surprisingly short and punchy for an RPG; through the commentary I got the feel of an 80's cartoon opening sequence. One thing to note...main character is called Baldren, but he actually has hair The game itself is very bright and colorful and is a delight to my eyes, I've only really explored around the first area and some mines so far though. One of my favorite things about the game so far is the battle system, although admittedly it did take some time to get used to it (and now I've just got my second character I have a few new things to adapt to) It's more tactical and strategy based than any previous RPG's I have played and I like the fact that you are not forced into random encounters, you get a notification on screen about a random encounter and you can choose to accept it or ignore it. For most part, I have accepted a lot of random battles to gain levels, pearls and rainbow coins. Allows me to beef up my characters a bit The story seems a bit meh...like one giant fetch quest. I imagine after a while of game play it would get a bit tedious and at the moment I'm struggling to see how this game would cover 100 hours of natural gameplay and how you'd reach level 500 with a character without a long grind. More tomorrow....but my completion rate didn't drop as much as expected. Loved reading all of your comment about the games so far!

I'm not often into shooters but I liked Wolfenstein a lot, still need to get that Old Blood game. Here's hoping DOOM is as awesome as people say it is.
MStalker58
@Hemiak: I just realized that we might have joined the war too late for those specific trophies. Could be wrong but we appear to be attacking the cyborg homeworld which is different than completing all missions on a planet. I somehow jumped into a game where they were playing a planet for one of the factions that have already been defeated in this war. The menu for the planet missions looked a little different and it showed how many missions you had completed on that planet. So, I don't think these current missions will count for those trophies. Oh well. Update on Far Cry Classic - Day 1 Hours played: around 2 Started the game, after 10 seconds into it I already disliked it, as the controls seemed wonky as hell . It seems though, that itt must have been the controller I used at that time, as I later used a different one (which was charging at the time) and the controls were decent. Turns out controller number 1 must be more battered than I thought (It's 8 years old by now, and has been through extensive Street Fighter IV torture) Far Cry Classic might be my least favorite game on my profile. Well maybe Heavy Fire Afghanistan but it's definitely among the top few. Tried not judging it too harshly since it's a port of a 12 year old PC game, but I just couldn't get into it. Woops, my PS+ ran out. Haha, yeah having an active PS+ subscription might be a good idea for this event considering that's your entire list. Agree on Wolfenstein as well. I'm kind of burnt out on FPS but I really enjoyed that game. After playing it, I had the desire to go back and play the original Wolfenstein 3D and I'm really looking forward to the new DOOM once I get a PS4. Hope you end up enjoying the game Markus.

Well, I did a tiny bit of research, just into the specific "annoying" trophies. It looks like we will miss the one you said, about completing a planet In a successful invasion, unless they counterattack and retake a planet. Another is for completing at least one mission when taking an enemy home world, which we should get. The 3rd is for completing one mission when one of the enemies is attacking one or our capital cities, which will actually be easier to earn if we're losing a war. Whatever, this game seems really fun and I won't mind playing it on and off for a long time. I played Wolfenstein and Doom way back in high school on the PC. I'm not a huge FPS fan, but I'll definitely pick up at least one of the Wolf games when I finally get a ps4. Looking forward to seeing how they've evolved. I've got my weekly paperwork to do, and I always play Jeopardy with my wife, but I'll play Helldivers probably 9 or 930 (central), even if I have to drag the 2nd TV in.

Tried not judging it too harshly since it's a port of a 12 year old PC game, but I just couldn't get into it. Oh, I've definitely played far worse games than this one. Damnation comes to mind *shivers*. I was actually trying to find Heavy Fire Afghanistan recently, as I thought that Shattered Spear was alright. The problem is that to get that game in the EU is a pain, as it's incredibly expensive, and thus I quickly lost interest, as I know that it isn't that good of a game anyway. Which goes for quite a few US release only games. Final Update of Day 1 (Far Cry Classic) Hours played: roughly 3 and a half Trophies earned: 9/22 Game status: 6 Missions Completed Stopped playing shortly before midnight. So I thought I might as well wrap the day up. Nothing new really, still meh. It made an impression though, it's now the game with most glitches aka funny and weird shit happening, that I've encountered in a game over such short amount of play time. Well done lads.

I was confused which things counted for which trophies. So we should get 1 of those 2 trophies, that's cool. I'm trying not to look up too much about the game because I'm kind of enjoying this feeling of surprise I'm getting every time a trophy pops. Like you, not too worried about not getting that planet trophy since I'm enjoying the game so far and I'm sure I'll be playing it for a while. My only fear is that it might get repetitive but maybe there's more variety once the war is over and all 3 enemy factions are back on the map. Still, seems like the perfect game to pick up and play a few matches here and there every few days or when taking breaks from other games. I should be online at that time so hopefully we can team up again. The war was almost over the last time I was on, so we might get to see more of the game with a brand new war starting by that time. I wanted to get into hell divers with you today but I've been busy plus That terminator game is more annoying than people have given it credit for Looks like we'll both be playing it on and off for a while so teaming up should be possible whenever you get the chance to play it.
