Event Officially Over

Hey there PSNP. Welcome to another fun(hopefully) and exciting(possibly) event. This event was inspired by one brave visionary's epic journey to tackle the mountain of games that he found himself buried under. Some of you know what this is, some have no idea, and some of you barely remember your own name from day to day. That's ok, I just ask that you ask yourself these questions:

- Is the pressure to choose just the right game to start next overwhelming?

- Are you convinced you have completion OCD and want to nip that in the bud?

- Have you ever wondered what it was like to have gaming ADD, and now you're ready to try it for yourself?

- Or are you maybe, as YuriG once spouted "... a cold ratio killer and hell has a special place for you"

If any of the above applies to you, then you my friend, are in the right place.


The Premise

10 Participants will each choose a list of 10 un-started games from their backlog, post them here so everyone can follow along, and start a new game from that list every 3rd day for the next month. o.O You WILL then post your thoughts as you play, and write a short review on the final day for each game.

A complete and utter dis-regard for your completion rate (for the next month)

How to Join
Say you want in, and post a list of 10 games YOU ALREADY OWN that you haven't started. Post your completion percent at the time of sign-up for S&G.
This will not be first come first served. If I get 100 entrants, I'll use a combination of RNG, animal sacrifice, nepotism, bribery, and my own deep seated video game prejudices to whittle it down to a manageable number. (having a good selection of games is key here) I am fully aware that it is much more likely that I will get five people, and two of those won't actually follow through.

Game Selection Do's and Don'ts
- Try something new: Don't fill your list with re-masters/makes you played the hell out of on a previous console. Also, don't add games you played on another account please.
- Try something different: Lists full of all the currently popular AAA games or indies are boring, get creative. If you've played GoW 1, 2, & 3, then Chains of Olympus is NOT creative.
- Variety is The Spice...: Try to avoid having more than 1 or 2 of the same type of game on there.
- Don't choose 10 games that all have average completion times under 10 hours: You're not fooling anybody. Sneaky participant is not sneaky.

Frequently Unasked Questions?

Won't this completely bone my completion percentage? Yes, if that's a problem you're definitely in the wrong place.

How do I choose my games? Up to you. RNG, ask a friend, post a status update, pick 10 you've been looking forward to, or any combination of the above. We won't be helping you (or forcing you) to decide.

What happens if I finish a game in under 3 days? Again, up to you. Start something else, work on one of your previous games, whittle, macrame, etc. This is acceptable and I fully believe this will happen, but it should not be the norm.

How long should I play my game? The main component of this event is your perceptions and review. I suggest a minimum of three hours per game, so that you have at least a base grasp of story and concepts. Again, this is the bare minimum suggested time. I realize many of us have jobs and families and yada-yada... That is why we get three days per game.

What do I get if I win? This isn't a competition numb-nuts.

How does this all work? Seriously? You didn't read any of the above? Here's the TL:DR version, choose 10 games, if you're chosen I'll tell you when to begin. Start a fresh game, play that game. I'll tell you when it's time to throw that one in the trash and start game 2, 3, etc. Tell us what you thought of game 1, 2, 3, etc. Have fun.

Questions and Comments are expected and encouraged, I'm quite certain I'll make random inexplicable changes as this thing drags on, be ready for anything.

They have to be 0%, I would prefer if they haven't been started at all. If it's on your account but you haven't played it that's fine.

Example, I've loaded Oddworld on, but never actually started it. (good) I've played 2 hrs of TLOU, and about 4 of MP3, but haven't earned a trophy yet (bad) this is all on your honor though, so really it's up to you how you want one play this one.

I would agree, with +700 games on your profile and 93 games completed to 100%, you should probably lead this initiative.

I have spent the past two years moving my completion percentage from 59% to 85%, so I will play the spectator on this one

I'm not sure if my completion percentage is high enough to count for this...

 

Short history recap of my percentage, feel free to TL;DR.

 

I used to be an achievement hunter (playing stupid but easy games for completions and the likes), decided to start anew with trophies and just play what I felt like, while still looking at trophies for how much I got out of a game.

I had a completion percentage of over 70% (on a different tracking site; this is without DLC or different weights for trophies) until about 14 months ago. Then I decided to crush my percentage and start all games that I had in my backlog back then. That got it down to about 40%... Been going up the past year, was almost at 65% when I quit that site a couple of weeks ago and joined this one, which was about 53,20% on this site.

 

I'm in the process of caring even less for trophies and percentages though so I would really like to sabotage my efforts of the last year. If I don't get in here, I'll probably just do one trophy in all the games I have - without trying to get back up immediately.

I chose games that I never ever played and also know little about, so it's only PS+ games for me, I keep my backlog of games for which I paid intentionally small.

 

No AC Chronicles Russia or Stealth Inc 2 since I already played earlier installments so I have an idea about what those games are already. Didn't want to add Far Cry Blood Dragon or I Am Alive or any game that I've already played on X360 either. Tried to include some games with big trophy lists to add to the loss of percentages.

 

Not to self: need to check if I actually did even download Yakuza 4 back then.

I have a dreadful Completition rate, loads of 0 percent games on my profile, and a 2/3 day game concentration before I usually switch........ So this is perfect for me.

Backlog of at least 10 un-started games

 

God damn, I shouldn't have tried games like PvZ: Garden Warfare or Organic Panic recently. They would have been perfect for this.

 

As I recently loaded up several of my backlog games onto my profile I have a small selection of about ~50 games to choose from. Sadly some fall out of the range as I don't want to play the second or third installment of a series before I tried the first (and some of those were already started by my girlfriend. ) and many of them fall in a same genre (JRPG or Puzzle-Platformer) so it's a bit hard to get a variety but here's my list.

It's all new games with some long completion times but they kind of violate the "try something different" rule:

I mean, you've 100%ed every other Assassin's Creed game out there so it's hardly knew territory for you. You also 100%ed two Kingdom Hearts games and Fallout 3. I don't know how hard Hemiak is going to uphold this get creative rule, but personally I'd swap those three you have in these franchises for games of franchises I haven't tried at all yet.

FYI: the suggestions for filling your list aren't hard fast rules, just guidelines on what I think would make a list fun and/or interesting to read about. If we get 10 or less it won't come I to play at all, if we get more than 10 I'll have to dig a little deeper into everybody's lists.

Also, here's my list of games I plan to start. I have several that I wanted to add but didn't because they're part of a series(Arkham Origins, Blood Dragon, Rearmed 2) , or I already have 2-5 trophy-less hours in on them(TLOU, MP3)

Thought about including Resistance 2. Considering my completion rate will be in shattered pieces by the end of this event, doubt I would care about adding an unplattable game to my profile by that point.

 

I noticed several of these games in other lists (mostly the PS+ titles) so I might change those if needed. Making a list was harder than I thought considering I've greatly reduced my backlog this past year and most of the other games I own are all RPG's and multiple parts of a series. 

 

EDIT: Immediately after clicking "Post", I felt a sense of dread come over my entire body. Part of me hopes that more than 10 people sign up and I don't get picked. Until the event starts, I'll just be over here curled up in the corner repeatedly saying "Please don't pick me. Please don't pick me."
