You can actually watch the whole thing on Youtube dubbed or subbed if you're interested. The English dub is very well made, and I would definitely recommend checking it out. Basically, it tells about a Finnish machine gun company in the Continuation War which was fought between Finland and the Soviet Union in WWII. I've read Linna's novel and seen the original movie (both of which are considered pretty much sacred and national treasures in Finland) so I was a bit doubtful about this. Finns have a lot of emotional ties when it comes to this title as it has made an indelible effect on our culture. Anyhow, glad to be wrong about the 2017 version of the film as I enjoyed it quite a lot. I was glad that they took a more realistic approach and showed all aspects of war. The characters show courage but they also fear and do terrible things at times and the last battles are just painful to watch - as they should be. Aho and Vatanen are great in their roles.
