MAJOR Server Closure for PS3 Games (Killzone 2&3, EyePet, WipeOut, Gran Turismo 6)

Apparently, you won't be playing these online starting 29 March 2018 (without the precise day time!).

 

Personally, only care (a bit) about the Killzones and EyePet, but Gran Turismo 6 and Wipeout seem like very important and sad closures for others.

 

 

Never opened the Killzones or EyePet, but wanted to try any of the online stuff they offer. Are people playing Killzone 2&3 now? Easy to find matches? I know I'm getting decimated, though... sad. What's the online functionality for EyePet and Friends? Trophies? Hard to get?

 

 

P.S. Anybody here played the mobile game Knack’s Quest (getting closed the same day)? ? How was it?

 

P.P.S. Are WipEout HD, WipEout HD Fury, WipEout 2048 all completely different separate games?

Fury is a DLC for WipEout HD, but 2048 is a completely different game. Though all 3 of these are in WipEout Omega Collection.

Wipeout, easily, for me is the one I care about most.  Killzone 2 & 3 are just another junk FPS clone game to me, never got into the Gran Turismos, and I can't imagine Eyepet is going to cause many tears.

 

Wipeout HD and 2048 are separate games, Fury is DLC for both of them, to answer your question.

At the moment, EyePet is the most interesting to me, although I've never played it... as an actual game it may be pretty bad, I imagine. Anybody knows anything about EyePet's online component?

EyePet was just social sharing from what I remember. So it's not surprising people don't care. Plus, most trophy hunters aren't legitimately into games like that. I legitimately love it, but I didn't care about it's online features at all.

I really hate the consoles are very expensive in my country and i cannot play exclusive games of them. So it's a pity for WipeOut 2048 for me. I know that i still can play it in Omega Collection, but platinum on PSVita will ve unattainable.

 

By the way, Killzone 2 it's a pain. Same reason for WipeOut 2048, i bought it too late for doing the online trophies, and i don't have enough time for recruiting people and help me for Valor Grand Cross, so platinum is also inobtainable for me. At least, i could earn all the online trophies for KZ3...

A source for what? It has been known for 3 months lol... this is a poll thread, and i voted GT6, because i didn't really care about the multiplayer for the other games, or EyePet/Knack's Quest at all. I wasted some hours to grind credits and get once of every car.

The first EyePet game has 1 online trophy that requires you to have access to the store. The sequel (EyePet & Friends) has no online trophies as far as I am aware.

 

You have to play about 30 minutes of setup/tutorial before you can access the store in EyePet, but the trophy itself is very quick.

EyePet only has 1 online trophy, for downloading a costume item from the store. It would be very easy to get this trophy prior to the server shutdown. EyePet & Friends has no online trophies.

 

Just a warning - EyePet is not a very enjoyable game or platinum.

 

Killzone 2 & 3 are probably much bigger losses, along with Wipeout. But these are old games. Too bad they couldn't just hand over server maintenance to a separate company. They could even charge a separate fee for access for those who want them.

 

The Knack app was a rather generic match 3 game. Was a hand tool to get gadgets prior to starting your playthrough. Really, if you want to play Knack, you still have enough time to get those items if you wanted to. It wouldn't take long with the app.

The games mentioned will close the online portion on the date mentioned. This was announced three months ago. Not sure where the confusion is coming from.
