Glad to report I managed to reach my 2021 goal this month! I played through a bunch of games this month, mostly due to National Trophy Hunting Day. It was my first time participating, and I wanted to earn 100+ trophies. I also 100% a few other games from my backlog, including Astro’s Playroom, Far Cry 3: Classic Edition, and Fallout: New Vegas. I’m slowly working through Ghost of Tsushima’s Legends DLC and close to completing Overcooked! All You Can Eat. With three months left in 2021, I’m hoping to end with a clean 10% completion increase overall (57.41%). As long as I continue to work on my backlog, this new goal should be doable.

I think this really is the hardest part of getting completion up.  Resisting the temptation of playing new stuff and actually playing the old stuff.  Good luck getting that last bit though since you're so close and I bet you can do it!

Thanks for the vote of confidence @ladynadiad! It's a bit easier to meet my goals while my overall completion is still this low. But I definitely think the temptation to play new releases (especially Back 4 Blood) make this challenging. Congrats on all your personal progress though! I admire all the work you've put into keeping your completion percentage high, and your harrowing experience with Shiness.

I would focus on games that need not more than 1o hours each to complete. It is motivating to just get some games off your backlog list. Some suggestions:

 

Uncharted Golden Abyss => top game on the VITA

Forma8 => not too hard and fun to pick up and play for half an hour or so

AC Syndicate => pretty okay AC and you still have a lot to earn on this one ?

I stuck with Fall Challenge games this week. Didn't have time to play any other games thanks to Destiny 2. But after an almost 2 month binge I'm ready for another break so I probably won't play much Destiny in October. That'll free up some time for other, non-challenge games.

 

My goal for this week is to hit 41.50%. Other than challenge games I'm not sure what I'll play yet.  Between my backlog and some easy PS Now plats I should be able to do it.

Session didn't go through for the remaining MP trophy hopefully it will take place this week

 

Dead Nation - PSVita

Decided to go back to this game. i was stuck on the very last checkpoint on my Grim run. Spend almost 2 hours but there was no way I could get through. I was just missing fire power. Decided to do the blackest scenario and started my run from scratch in order to upgrade a different load out. That worked well and I got my Grim run finished. Now I am on my morbid run ....

 

Metro Last Light + DLC (0/5) - PS3

Focusing on the DLC at the moment. Did finish 2 and still 2 parts to go. The 5th DLC is the main game on Hardcore ranger mode and will enter this when ready with the remaining DLC,

If I can be of help pls let me know, I have the game and struggled to find help on those 2 mp trophies myself when I went back to it.  I need to finish the 3 story dlc anyways so helping might kick me in the pants to load the game up for myself.  I work from home so I can be available almost anytime and at least the revive trophy you need can be done in about 20 to 30 mins maybe less once a pattern is going.

Weekly Update: I had another mostly positive week. I stuck to the plan initially, but I found out Little Nightmares 2 had a free PS5 upgrade that I somehow missed and I jumped over to that immediately and played through it and got the platinum over the course of a couple days. I also decided to finally play Maquette. I knew it was short and I've been curious about it for quite a while. So that game was also started and platinumed this week.

 

• The Walking Dead: The Final Season - I finished the final season and am finally done with this series. I did enjoy it quite a lot. I think I would be open to playing the definitive edition some time in the future and seeing it one more time. But for now, I'm kind of tired of it and ready to move on. 
• Hades - I made some progress. Finally figured out the Cthonic Companion thing and think I am making progress with other storylines that will unlock new prophecies and hidden weapon aspects. I can still see I have a long road ahead of me though. 
• Little Nightmares II - I really like this creepy game. It is right up my alley. Atmospheric, dark, twisted, strange. Most importantly this week, short and sweet. I blasted through it with pretty much no wasted time at all. 
• Enigmatis 3: The Shadow of Karkhala - Nothing new to say on this that I didn't say last week. It's a hidden puzzle game from Artifex Mundi. I think they are bad games, but like to play them now and then anyway.
• Maquette - I had a good time with this one. The relationship backstory thing wasn't very compelling, but I did appreciate that they tried to tell a story and give the puzzles and level design some symbolic purpose. However, I enjoyed the game overall and the nested copies of the worlds was kind of mind blowing and introduced a lot of fun mechanics. I played through blind and solved nearly every puzzle myself. I had to pull up a video to figure out the pink crystal opened the pink force field blocking an area off and felt dumb I didn't see it that one myself. The speedruns weren't bad. They all had plenty of time if you could keep all the steps in your head. The prologue level was the exception. On that one, you had to jump through bushes and take shortcuts and find racing lines like a car game, but its the shortest and easiest level so it was okay I had to do it five times. Then I looked up the misc. trophies and completed those using chapter select afterwards. It was a nice experience. 

 

Plans for Upcoming Week: I'm going to try out a game called Greak and probably make a guide for this site. I've owned it for a while. I know it's pretty short so I think its a game I can platinum within the same week I started it. Afterwards, probably more Hades and Kena.

Weekly update

 

I made it to the end of the month with a decent increase and then promptly started a new game. Haven't spent much time on it yet so with it sitting at 5% it tanked my numbers. Hoping to correct that this week. If I can sneak a few crowns in as well I will be happy.

 

 

Monster Hunter World

Slowing down on this game as the gold crown grind is kicking in. Slowing make bits of progress but don't expect too much in the way of trophies for the next while. Still fun to jump in and do some hunts but would be a lot more fun with a group of friends.

 

Fez

Started and finished Fez this week. Ive played it before but never completed it. Its a pretty brilliant design (gameplay wise) with the way you can spin your view. This game is a platformer full of old skool charm and I had a good time with it. Was nice to finally finish it as well.

 

Yaga

Only just started on this and am an hour or two into it and still figuring out how everything works. This single handed dropped my completion by a fair bit but hopefully I will get a lot done on this one during the week and push the numbers back to where they were at minimum. Seems like an interesting game so far and its really my first experience with Slavic folklore.

Ran through the DLC for Control and unlocked my final base game trophies along the way. Not 100%'d right now because I don't fancy having to look up all the hidden locations and collectibles in the DLC just yet. Still, completion percentage has come down just a tiny bit because I've already made a start on Hotwheels Unleashed which came out last week, wasn't planning on getting this at release but I had an opportunity to pre order for only £24 so I went for it. It's decent and definitely worth what I paid for it but there are some reviewers giving this really high scores such as 9/10 and I really think that's exaggerating how good this game actually is. Anyway, whilst I don't think it's amazing, it is decent fun playing through the single player mode for a couple hours each night, also had a couple sessions in multiplayer and earned 2/3 of the online trophies so far. Even when I do complete all the events with 'unleashed' rating it looks there'll be a grind for coins and gears at the end of the game anyway so I'm in no rush to try and complete this game quickly.

Dirt Rally 2.0

Earned the plat. Great solid rally game. I enjoyed every minute of it and have earned my rarest plat to date. Only difficult trophy was the top tier on a daily challenge in the Audi Quattro. Man that thing is a boat.... 

 

Lego Ninjago the movie game

Started this game with my nephew. Knocked my % down a great deal (0.5%) but I will finish it pretty quickly. 

 

Destiny 2

Bought the DLC and am playing again with mates. Love the game - just not enough to do is the reason I stopped playing after getting the plat. A little disappointed you cannot do the Warmind DLC anymore after paying for it.

Still hard stuck in gold.....

Hi all, long time no update for me.  6 weeks or so.  So here goes for update #39.

 

I have been keeping track, just didn't play any games until last week.  As I have mentioned before I think, I moved from Washington state to Wyoming during September.  So it took a few weeks to pack things up, some time to move, then about 2 weeks to wait for our stuff to show up, and finally about a week to set up my office/game room.  That being said I started playing Ys 8: Lacromisa of Dana again on ps4 to clean it up off my backlog of unfinished games.  I was on chapter 2 when I put it down years ago, so I just restarted it from scratch.   Got a few trophies so made my first progress in over a month.

 

My increase last week was only 0.10% from 82.05% to 82.15%.  There are a ton of games I still want to get to, I need to keep working on cleaning some up though so that unearned trophies count goes down  

 

 

Current Week:

 

Keep working on Y's 8.  I know this is a late in the week post so not sure how much more progress I will make on the game this week.  Still lots of unpacking and setting up.

I feel like my completion percentage has been running on a treadmill a bit the last few months. Five of the games I had already completed to 100% (Godfall, Maneater, Dirt 5, Tools Up! and Outer Wilds) released new DLC's and dropped my completion percentage and number of games completed. I got to some of them but i'll have to get to the others later.

Finished this up with the platinum. It was an enjoyable relaxing game with an easy platinum.

 

Tools Up! (PS4) DLC #3 100%

 

Finished the 3rd and final DLC on this one. I really like this game and if you like Overcooked this is a good time, especially in couch co-op.

 

Immortals Fenyx Rising (PS5) 100%

 

Started and completed this one including all of the DLCs. It was a lot of hours for everything (75) and I was definitely ready for it to be done by the time I finished it. I did actually really enjoy it overall though. It is a fun game and the platinum is straight forward. I probably wouldn't have felt so burned out if I hadn't plowed through the whole game and all three DLCs back to back. The DLC in this game is actually really good. The first one is a little tiresome (just puzzle dungeons back to back with nothing really to breath them up) but the other two are great. The second DLC is basically a mini sequel to the game with a different character in Chinese mythology instead of Greek mythology. The third is back in Greek mythology and continues the story of the main game but is played from a different perspective with a new character and feels like a totally different game. I definitely recommend this one. It goes on sale a lot so watch for one and maybe space out the DLCs so you don't get burned out like me.

 

Dirt 5 (PS5) DLC #4 100%

 

Knocked this out in an afternoon fun a straight forward arcade racing.

 

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PS5) 100%

 

I really enjoyed this. It was a fun quick story driven action adventure. Not much else to say about it. Was a nice change of a 14 hour platinum from the 75 I had just spent with Immortals.

 

Batman: The Enemy Within (PS4) 60%

 

Felt like watching a movie instead of playing a game so I started a Telltale game =P Just enjoying going through the story, should finish it this weekend.

 

Resogun (PS4) 44%

 

I started this a long time ago and only played a couple hours. I've played a lot this week and love it. I've finished all of the main game trophies except the hard stuff. I need to beat level 5 on veteran, then beat any level on master. I also need to do the full arcade playthrough on experienced without losing all my lives. Then I'll start looking at the DLCs.

 

Any tips from anyone on Resogun? I can consistently get to around 50-75 percent through level 5 on veteran, but after several hours that's all I can manage. Any gameplay pointers? Just practice?

 

Edit: Nvm, I just managed it, the Resogun platinum is mine! Now on to the DLC trophies, which I understand can be brutal...

 

Up Next:

 

- Finish Batman

- Work on Resogun (I have a feeling it's going to take a lot of practice for the 100% on this one)

Finally got the session done and got the 'One for all' trophy, one trophy left but that one is giving me a headache. I need to reach sequence 25 in a Wolf Pack and 24 is the highest I can get too.....this one is costing me a lot of time.

 

Dead Nation - PSVita + DLC (0/1)

Hurray, I have finished my morbid run and played one chapter on undead for 'Very Undead' . What is left is the DLC and cleaning up (amongst others; killing 53k zombies....). But teh platinum is on the horizon now

 

Metro Last Light + DLC (3/5) - PS3

Finished another DLC (Developers packs) and have the 'Homo Homini Lupus Est' left which is a hard one. Sounds easy to kill 100 enemies but for some reason I keep falling short. Looking at some post on the internet I am not the only one. Started my Ranger Hardcore run which is fun; no HUD, no indication, nothing.

I didn't hit my goal of 41.50% but it was still a decent week. Made some progress in 2 Fall Challenge games. Most notably, I got the "Challenger" trophy in Rayman Legends so I won't have to run daily events on my dummy account any more. For non-challenge games, I finally knocked out the 3 Arcade Game Series games I bought over 5 years ago. That's where most of my completion % increase came from. I tried to bump it up more with Fighting Vipers and Super Hang-On from PS Now, but they were only worth about .04% each. Oh well, every little bit helps. Plus they only took about an hour each and were fun little nostalgia trips.

 

No specific plans again for this coming week, but I'm going to aim for a 1.0% increase this time. I'd like to get 2 challenge games done (Heavy Rain and Ys IX) and mix in a few more quick backlog / PS Now games, too.

Congrats.  I think the wolf pack one gave me the most trouble from that set as well.  I found certain maps of the additional were harder than others to rack up the points.

That is one I am still missing ?.... I can easy to level 20....I have reached 24 coupe of times. So I am close but not there yet.....any tip is welcome! Which map was for you the 'easiest'?

Weekly update

 

Popped a new platinum this week which was the first in nearly a month and got the push I needed to come back to a game on my profile I haven't played in a very long time. Also managed to just edge over 87% completion for the first time ever. I feel like it has been a pretty decent week overall.

 

 

Yaga

Spent most of the week playing Yaga. This game was a bit of a rollercoaster for me. The first playthrough I just couldn't get into it fully. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood. I had a lot more fun however with the second playthrough while trying out various hammer builds. Everything was going great until I tried unlocking the last 2 trophies right at the end of the game and realized that for one trophy I made the wrong choice during a certain event in game and the other I made the right choice but for some reason didnt get the item I needed to get the trophy to pop. Sooooo I had no choice but to start a third playthrough. This time I made sure I strategically saved the game at critical points to make sure I didn't have to redo it again. The game was fun and worth playing but 3 playthroughs is plenty for this guy.

 

Monster Hunter World

Spent a little time on MHW this week but only managed to get a handful of hunts in. No crowns that I needed but got trolled by the game throwing a couple worthless silver crowns at me instead. Will probably play this from time to time and slowly chip away at it but it wont be my main focus game for now.

 

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Its been 2.5 years since I last played this game and with seeing @papert0wng1rl recently start it and rocket by my progress it gave me the push I needed to pick it up again. I remembered why I put it down as I wasn't a big fan of Shantytown and that was exactly where I was starting from. I pushed through and even managed to find all the collectibles without a guide. Hope to get this finished up now finally. Only slightly worried about the Chatterbox trophy but fingers crossed it pops when expected.

Weekly Update: This was kind of a meh week for me. I'm definitely feeling some burn-out. It started right around when my wife switched schedules and started working from home so I thought it was related to the change in my sleep patterns, but I think I would have made that adjustment by now. I think it's probable that I will be taking a week or two off of gaming soon to reset. No graph this week. I didn't feel like bothering with it since I'm writing this in the 10 free minutes I have before I go into a meeting at work. 

 

• Greak: Memories of Azur - This game is where most of my time went this week. It's a pretty short experience. It took me about 12 hours to platinum it and I also put together a trophy guide for it since it's a game that's not getting a lot of attention. I liked it and think most gamers would too if they gave it a whirl. 
• AC: Valhalla - Started it forever ago and it didn't click. So I tried it again out this week and it still did nothing to draw me in. I've already bounced back off of it for now. 
• Claire - Kind of a meh horror game. It was supposed to be short, but it's glitched on me a few times now so it doesn't feel short anymore. It's at 96% now. I'll probably go for the platinum one more time this upcoming week. 
• Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - This is another one I started a long time ago, but didn't stick. There isn't anything wrong with the game, I just changed profiles and I had all the Uncharted platinums on my old profile. At the time I started this in the past, I just wasn't ready for more Uncharted yet. I've made some progress this time. This particular entry is shorter than the others, so I will probably stick it out until it's platinumed. 

 

Plans for Upcoming Week: Finish Claire and Uncharted: Lost Legacy and decide if I should take a week or two off or not.

So for tips I would say only focus on 1 map, so you learn were the next target tends to spawn from.  I found Saint Pierre the best one as is it pretty open and easy to move around in.  I set my abilities up like this:

Ability 1 - Disguise 

Ability 2 - Smoke bomb (this works great when you have multiple targets and aren't sure which one is the right one.) 

Ranged - knives 

Perk 1 - Blender (helps with multiple targets as one will always try to attack you.)

perk 2 - Resistance (this helps if you get stunned by choosing wrong on a target, to recover faster)

Kill streak - +250

 

So I focused as much as possible in the beginning of the match to get as many of the bonuses per kill.  I.e. at the top left it might say silent kill or acrobatic kill.  Until you get to the high teens these should be cake, and if you do as many as possible then you can rack up enough points to skip a stage or 2.  I also always focused on getting a full lock and full focus bonus.   This adds up pretty fast if you just this.  I would spend a few secs blending in or walking slowly behind them  it might seem like a time waste but the bonus points for it are better than the 5 to 10 secs you waste.   Also if a time extend kill is close by go for it.  Nothing flashy just kill and move on.  Usually this was when I would use my disguise was right after murdering the time extender.  

 

Basically I started small focusing on how to the initial bonus kills for each target in the beginning,  learning the lay of the land.  after about 4 or 5 quick matches you will start to get the idea of where the next target will be and how to best approach them.  If by the time you are at level 20+ and you don't have about 2 mins left on your timer it will be very hard to get to 25.  Not impossible but harder.  At least this is my opinion  hopefully this helps.  I also tried to follow the guide for that pack on this site it helped me a lot.
