Parker
So according to this site the PS4 version of CoD: Ghosts will require a 49GB install. Yeah, you read that right. This got me thinking, do we how big of an internal HDD the PS4 will support? As far as I am aware the PS3 only supported a 1TB internal HDD and if games are this big even a 1TB HDD will fill up pretty quickly so I'll be looking into something even bigger, if it is supported. Maybe this is a mistake and the digital version will require 49GB, but at this rate your 500GB HDD will get filled up with around 10 games or so, if they're all around the 50GB mark. CasaDeBen
It makes me wonder what the drive club plus edition will weigh in at with stuff missing from it. I cannot justify downloading 40+ gigs for a game. 15gb i can do but 49?! No way. I know thats not the point of this but either way the digital versions will be on par. Youre basically installing the entire game from the disc anyways. Which will be playable while it installs (so weve been told right), and i appreciate the faster load times and benefits of full installs. I might just buy a 1tb drive at launch and replace it right away.
Masamune
Hopefully it's an error, uninstalling game data if your out of space to play a new game can get annoying, especially if you have DLC...

I've thought about that too and I have a 1TB drive laying around so I probably will do it but we'll still only get to install around 20 games or so before that is filled too. Someone linked this over on .com and if the PS4 supports it I'll defnitely be looking into it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178326&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=6147388&SID=g4yrs7qj5hbn A 4TB HDD should last a good while and hopefully Sony will allow games to be installed and played from external drives that way it would be much easier to manage games. A12
This depends on the format structure Sony uses to partition.I would assume they have thought of this and pushed for the max in FAT32, which is 8ish TB.1TB should still be sufficient though. As alot of games move to digital distribution, many titles will simply be available at all times for re/download.We just have to manage our space. LoL... We have bandwidth caps. Digital distribution for games that big will be awful for my future (i actually dont mind digital, just the world as a whole is not on par when it comes to accessing the internet.)
McJacs2
Given the size of this and Killzone: Shadow Fall, is it even possible to play a game on the standard 8GB HDD. Granted, most of us will upgrade anyways, but the size of these games kinda makes the presented HDD useless.

The standard HDD for the PS4 is 500GB, the only console I know that offered an 8GB HDD was the basic Wii U and no, you could really install a game on that because of the mandatory 5GB system update on day one. While 500GB isn't useless, it definitely isn't big enough for this next generation if all games are going to be this size. Parker

I understand and feel your pain. But, think of it this way - say you only have 500GB. You have a shitty ISP, You own/rent a few, and download a couple. How many games over how long of a period do you plan to play? I can't imagine having the time to play more than 2 a week (while enjoying them), let alone 20. All we need to do is uninstall old/sold/rented blah blah and there shouldn't be any problems.

Beyondthegrave07
The funny part is CoD Ghosts isn't even supposed to have PS4 graphics. 49GB for a game with PS3 qualities? I think I'll pass on this one. However, what worries me is that TLOU takes 27 GBs and it's a PS3 game. I remember when I thought Resident Evil 5 took a lot of memory with only 5 GBs. More importantly, Sony started off with a measly 20 GB PSfatty back at launch. The old fatty PS3s wouldn't even be able to hold 1 TLOU! Imagine how large the GBs will be down the line in about 3 or 4 years. 100 GBs? 200GB? But Sony is smarter than this. TLOU originally was going to take 54 GBs and they downsized it to 27. Maybe the same will happen with these game? We can only hope!
damon8r351
I hear the dogs added 40GB to the game 49 GB install off a disc based game is not just ridiculous, it's rigoddamdiculous. Also, I'd like to call attention to the above post I quoted, which is the funniest goddam thing I've read all day.
Death
I hear the dogs added 40GB to the game And an additional 5GB for moving fish. The last 4GB is the actual game. ---- Doesn't really matter how big it is. I'm the kind of guy that deletes everything once I know I'm completely done with a game that I wont go back to, so this isn't a big problem IMO.

skateak
The game is probably just very unoptimized. Port the PS3 version over and put all the high resolution textures on the disc. Killzone Shadow Fall started at 290gb before they started optimizing. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-10-24-why-killzone-shadow-fall-is-almost-40gb-it-used-to-be-
