Baker
#335 Yakuza 5 Remastered Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 125 hours And with this I’ve finished the series. At least the main entries. This is one of the longer Yakuza games as 100% in game completion is required. There is so much to say and write about Yakuza games but if you are reading this and still haven’t played one, do it, and do it now. Starting with Yakuza 0 ofcourse, which is still my favorite in the entire series. Still no sprint button.. ? Update: I didn’t want to buy anymore games before Modern Warfare 2 comes out but I made a mistake in dates. I thought it would release on the 20th but it’s the 28th. So after all the button mashing in Yakuza I bought a nice turn based JRPG with an hommage to Final Fantasy: Edge of Eternity. Sounds good to me. I might play something from the backlog too but every time my intentions are to finish something it never happens. ? So from now on no speculation on what I’m going to play anymore. One day it will be finished.
Joe Dubz
The man, the myth, the LEGEND Baker is back!! Good to see you bud ? Congrats on finishing Y5 up. I guess that would make you the resident Yakuza expert! Do you have any opinion on the name change going forward? I kind of like the sound of "Like a Dragon" anyway.

Well the name is more accurate as Ryu Ga Gotoku, the real name of the games, means Like A Dragon. When they did western releases they changed the name to Yakuza. I don’t know why exactly. But I have to say I prefer Yakuza as a name. But also, in the end I don’t care, as long as these games keep being this awesome. Pretty hyped about the upcoming Yakuza games, but Lost Judgment is next.. Edited October 7, 2022 by Baker
Popular Post Baker
#336 Edge of Eternity Enjoyment: 7/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 60 hours I picked this game up because I was in the mood for a turn based JRPG and for €20 it seemed like a good deal. I watched some reviews of it and most of them were pretty positive. And then I played the prologue. Immediately I thought: ‘What the hell is this?’ This game does not look good. Especially the characters, they look awful. After the prologue, which took around an hour, I didn’t think I would enjoy this too much, and since I had a little gaming burnout anyway, I shelved it and didn’t play anything for two weeks. Until I continued a few days ago. And surprisingly this game hooked me. The open world itself actually looks very good. Not AAA game good, but for such a small developer team, very good. The story, I kind of skipped most of it as I was afraid of game crashes during cutscenes. The game definitely still has some framerate, freeze, and crash issues. But it’s about a soldier and his sister that are saving the world. You know, typical JRPG stuff. The battle system is turn based and it was very good. But you need to play on Nightmare difficulty, and that kind of ruined it for me. This game would be much more enjoyable on lower difficulties I think. Every enemy is a damage sponge and do massive damage themselves, to the point where if you fight a small enemy mob of 4, you would already die. So I always avoided any fight over 3 enemies. And even when you are overleveled and much stronger than the enemies, these fights still drag on for far too long. It can become really boring at times. Patch in a turbo button to speed this up.. The boss battles were good, with loads of variation, but also here some bosses were near impossible to beat if you are not 1 or 2 levels above the boss. They do too much damage and you do too little. Ah yes, it might be wise to say that healing and reviving is very limited per battle.. Luckily it is not hard to level up in this game with a lot of sidequests and hunts to do. And if you keep doing those you are pretty much always at the correct level to tackle the boss fights. And this is were the game shined for me, just running around in this massive beautiful world, doing sidequests and hunts and tackle the next great boss fight. At the end I was a bit underleveled in terms of gear and stones, you insert stones into your gear to boost your overall stats, to tackle the final boss so I had to grind for about 2 hours. But this was also the only time I had to do any sort of grinding, so pace wise, this game is spot on. The final fight was a good old three phases boss fight that took a little bit over an hour. Nostalgia. But I didn’t even came close to dying so Nightmare difficulty wasn’t hard at all in the end. Overall a good game.
Popular Post Baker
#337+100% Lost Judgment Enjoyment: 10/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 80 hours Another amazing RGG game. I can’t get enough these games. This is in my top 3 of RGG games, together with Yakuza 0 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Not much more to say as it’s always the same formula, but once again, play these games! Actually there is one more thing to say. I blasted through the DLC, The Kaito Files, under 4 hours. I skipped the cutscenes because I wasn’t really interested in the story, but how the hell do they dare to charge €30 for that. Ridiculous! What’s next? I finally pulled the trigger and bought Modern Warfare 2. This means my gaming time will mostly be spend in online MP and take a little break from trophy hunting. Until I get tired of the MP, which usually lasts a month orso. And I started Zombie Vikings with a group of 4 players. But we only had one session so far. And.. it’s pretty mediocre. I expected something like Dragon’s Crown but it is nowhere near that good. Let’s just blast through it I guess.. Popular Post Baker
#338+100% Deathloop Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 20 hours Awesome game. I upgraded my Ps Plus to Ps Plus Extra just to play this game and it did not disappoint. You play as Colt, who is stuck in a time loop and needs to find a way to break it. You quickly learn you need to kill all 8 visionaries to break the loop. There are 4 area’s to visit during 4 different times of the day. Even though you can freely explore every area at any time you also have quest markers. Therefore, even though you have a lot of freedom what to do, following the story is very straightforward. Once you find out how to break the loop, you kill all 8 visionaries in a single day to finish the game. But ofcourse you can still continue doing whatever you want afterwards. I loved this game because of the gameplay. It’s Dishonored but with more freedom and guns! And ofcourse your powers. Like transportation, invisibility and many more.. It’s just awesome running around killing everyone or using stealth to get past enemies silently. There is also an online mode where you can play as Julianna (the final visionary you need to kill) and invade other people’s games and try to kill Colt. When you’re playing as Colt and you’re in a stealth section and all of a sudden Julianna invades your game, it makes the game even more fun imo. Therefore I played the entire game in online mode. After I broke the loop I switched to single player mode and made use of some accessibility options. Like one shot one kill, unlimited reprises (you can die 3 times normally until you need to restart but now you can continue indefinitely) to clean up the remaining trophies. I highly recommend not using this playing for the first time as it makes the game way too easy. One thing though was that the first day I played this the game ran very smooth. But after I booted up the game again something was wrong. R3 was almost unusable, frame rate drops, freezes.. I rebooted the game many times but nothing would help. It was a mess. And today everything was fine again. Weird. Must play game if you’re a fan of the Dishonored games. Edited November 18, 2022 by Baker
Popular Post Baker
#339 Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 55 hours I didn’t want to play another game from Ps Plus Extra after Deathloop but I couldn’t resist checking this game out as it’s the only Kingdom Hearts game I hadn’t played. But it’s not a JRPG, it’s a rhythm game. Not really my genre to be honest but after booting up the game and hearing that Kingdom Hearts music again, I was already hooked. You play through the entirety of all Kingdom Hearts games, playing every song throughout all worlds. The game actually tells the entire story but on a minimal level. And that’s a lot of songs to play through. There are 150 songs and you need to beat them all on 3 difficulties: Beginner, Normal and Proud, for a total of 450 songs. Let’s take a look at the gameplay as I recorded 2 songs. This is the core gameplay. Where you auto run and press notes by using L1, R1 and X. You jump with O and hold O to glide. Sometimes you need to press Triangle too. That’s it. There are also a few cinematic songs. Unfortunately most of the good songs are copy write protected and can’t be recorded so you have to settle with this one. It’s a little bit different but still more or less the same. You have some directional inputs too. There are also a couple of boss fights that follow the same mechanics as the cinematic songs only it goes a lot faster. I could not get a full chain on these songs on Proud mode. It was too hard for me. Speaking of full chains. You need to get 50 full chains on all 3 difficulties. Now on Beginner and Normal that’s easy but on Proud not so much. I managed to get 35 before I felt I needed to put in too much practice. Some of the songs have a very high BPM and I felt it was too difficult for me. But there is another mode called One Button Mode. So every input you need to do can be pressed with any button of your liking. It’s basically easy mode where you can just focus on the rhythm. This mode stacks with basic mode so I only needed to get 15 more on this mode, where I can just replay the songs I already got a full chain on. If this mode wasn’t there, the platinum rarity would drop immensely. This game. I absolutely loved it. The Kingdom Hearts games have so many amazing songs. For me it was a nostalgia trip. And I really couldn’t stop playing. Coupled with some challenging gameplay on Proud, where I wanted to keep improving my scores, I had a great time with it. I have now finished all Kingdom Hearts games. Waiting anxiously for KH4. ?? Now it’s time for some Modern Warfare II. Baker
#340 Zombie Vikings Enjoyment: - Difficulty: - Playtime: 20 hours I tried to convince a couple of people on many occasions to play this game with me. And now in hindsight I’m glad they said no because otherwise they would also have suffered through this game like I did. What is Zombie Vikings? It’s a 4 player coop side scrolling beat ‘m up from the makers of Stick It To The Man (fun game). And I expected something like Dragon’s Crown (fun game). But this was just not good. So I really don’t want to say much about it. It has some good humor, but because the game was shit anyway I skipped through almost all cutscenes. Initially we were in a team of 4 but in a month time we only managed to meet up once for 2 hours orso. ? So I played most of the game solo and did the remaining coop trophies with @Dzware and second accounts and controllers. Thanks again! What’s next? Continuing with MW2 and finally play some online MP. I also bought Star Ocean: The Divine Force in a good Black Friday deal and God of War Ragnarok for only €10. Don’t ask me how, it’s a long story. So these games are more than enough to keep me busy this year. Although I’m thinking about going back to Hard Reset Redux and Crash Bandicoot 4, so that probably won’t happen.

Baker
#341 Star Ocean: The Divine Force Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 75 hours Star Ocean back in form. Sort of. It’s the typical Star Ocean story where you, as a explorer of stars, crash land in an underdeveloped world. Meeting your party members that remind you of the Middle Ages and in the end you save the universe. And I really enjoyed the game. It’s far better than SO5 and SO3 imo. Although the battle system isn’t as good as SO4. This was probably also the easiest and shortest SO game. The trend continues.. Now there are only two things that annoyed me during my time playing this. First is that you need to find every treasure chest in the game. That is not as bad as it sounds because you scan your surroundings in a pretty wide area. Only.. you can’t do it, or open the world map, or go into the menu, when your party members are talking. And they talk all the time! I know where to go, there is a big quest marker, please shut up saying where I need to go. Every time I went into a new area I had to idle for a few minutes because of this. Pretty bad game design. Second is you need to make 90% of all available items, which comes down to 395 items. There was a nice Google doc for this but since I can’t mark what I’ve created I had to write it down all manually. Worst thing is after I created every single item, apart from three which I couldn’t do, I was still a bit short and I didn’t understand how that happened. Since I refused to go through the entire list all over again I just started creating items hoping for the best, which added another couple of hours of playtime. But it worked out in the end. So two annoyances but overall still a great game! And thanks to @BlueDragonZero for answering all my questions in the forums. Much appreciated! Update: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Played through the campaign, which I thought to be very bad for MW standards. But I’m enjoying MP a lot. I still need the coop trophies for spec ops though so I’m still looking for someone. I joined and created a couple of boosting sessions in the last two weeks but now I remember why I hate the boosting sessions on this site. It’s going absolutely nowhere. Although I get many friend requests all of a sudden if I can help them with one trophy. No. I think I’ll just start it with randoms and see how far I can go. Hopefully I can still complete this game before the end of the year. Edited December 29, 2022 by Baker
Popular Post Baker
A very quick look back at the games I played this year. I played some good games but I feel not as good as last year. The best games I played this year are Doom Eternal, Lost Judgment, Nobody Saves The World and Neo: The World Ends With You. Also two ‘terrible’ games in Zombie Vikings and The Artful Escape. And apart from Pure Pool I basically only played easy games. But all in all I’m pretty happy with what I played. Now looking forward to next year and I see a little bit of a problem. I just bought The Ascent and Olliolli World and still have God of War Ragnarok and after completing those I will be at 392 games. I just have too many games on my wishlist I want to play like Horizon Forbidden West, Crisis Core, Final Fantasy XVI and many more. Plus I still have a couple of these very hard games I also want to do like Ikaruga, Splasher and Dirt Rally 2.0. I really need to make some decisions in what I still want to play on this account. Because there are just too many games left to play and just 8 spots left. I’ll have to think this over. Alright. Happy New Year everyone. Baker
Update: OlliOlli World First of all, this game is awesome. I had to get used to the controls in the beginning because apparently I thought I was playing Tony Hawk but now that I am I’m really enjoying this game. But.. This game could possibly have a bugged trophy and ofcourse that had to happen to me. I noticed it when I was around 75% through the main game. I continued to finish up some random trophies and the DLC but now there is nothing left to do but delete my save game, which is 20+ hours, and start all over again. And then hoping it doesn’t happen again. ? I also finished a couple of games but from now on I’ll do one big update every month.
Baker
Update: Hard Reset Redux Well after a year I finally started Heroic mode. And in mission 2 I had a nice deja vu moment from Shadow Warrior. I don’t remember there even being fall damage. At least not from this height. I should be careful around stairs in the future I guess.. (Edit: Yup, died from a dash from the stairs from 5cm high ?) Man, I really dislike these ‘permadeath’ difficulties. My main issue with this game is you need to find secrets to be able to upgrade your guns, which is what I was trying to do there. And you need to upgrade your guns asap. And I hate collectibles.. Popular Post Baker
Alright. So from now on I’ll do one big update per month and as I don’t think I’ll complete another game in January let’s take a look back at what I’ve played this month. #342+100% The Ascent Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 20 hours This game was alright. The cyperpunk setting was pretty cool. But this game was made for coop. And apparently in coop this game is still very buggy so I played it solo. The game is advertised as a sort of twin stick shooter but it’s nothing like that. It’s just a top down third person shooter with some RPG elements. My biggest issue with this game is you move very slow and there is no sprint button. You will be doing a lot of walking and backtracking in this game and walking everywhere became very boring for me. There are fast travel methods but the map is also confusing to the point that you don’t know where to fast travel to. At least in the beginning. Later on it becomes easier. Still a fun game though. #343 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 20 hours I was pretty disappointed in this game. In the Single Player campaign that is. For Modern Warfare standards I thought it was very poor. Mission 1: Walk 5 meters, cutscene, done. Mission 3: Swim 50 meters, kill a few enemies, cutscene, done. Mission 4: Same location, walk 20 meters, kill a few enemies, cutscene, done. Mission 7: A good old AC130 mission, it’s short, cutscene, done. Mission 8: Hey, I’m still in the AC130, kill a few enemies, cutscene, done. Mission 13: This was the worst one, where you are without guns and they introduce crafting in the style of The Last of Us. I want to shoot things, not stealth my way while crafting smoke bombs. I felt they cut up most missions in half to make the game have more missions. There are a few good missions to play through though. But this should have been much better. The coop trophies were fun to do but I’ve spend weeks here on PSNP in the boosting sessions to find someone to do the trophies with. Everybody just wanted to do their trophies and then just ditch me when they got it. Half the time the person didn’t even send or accepted my friend request. Why do you even make or join a session than in the first place? After a month searching I finally found a nice guy and knocked out all the trophies in a few hours. The reason I gave this an 8 for enjoyment is the Multiplayer. It’s a lot of fun and I’m still playing this with my real life friends at least a few times a week. #344+100% OlliOlli World Enjoyment: 10/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Playtime: 50 hours I haven’t had this much fun with a semi challenging indie game in years. It’s a skate boarding game but it plays totally different than Tony Hawk. I only ever played Tony Hawk as a skate boarding game and therefore I had some issues getting used to the control scheme. As an example, in the beginning every time I needed to grind on a rails I automatically pressed , but that’s the restart button. ? Once I got used to it though it was a lot of fun. And I expected this game to be quite difficult. So I played through the DLC to get some cool outfits as I wanted to record my Radysus challenges, which are the hardest to do in the game. But it turned out to be much easier than expected so in the end I have no video’s of it. One big issue with this game is that it is very buggy. You have 5 worlds you need to play through and as soon as you complete one you unlock the Mastery for that world. Which comes down to doing x amount of grinds, grabs, etc and doing Mike Challenges. Mike Challenges are 3 challenges that you need to do in every level. But these challenges don’t track well at all. And when I was close to finishing the game for the first time I noticed it hadn’t tracked well for me too. So I had to delete my save and start over. This time I went through the world asap, unlock mastery, see if it tracked correctly, made a back up save, complete all mastery challenges for that world while continuously checking if it tracked correctly and making back up saves. Until I didn’t notice the grab counter for I think the mastery in world 3 had stopped. At this point I already backed up that save. And so nothing left to do but delete and start over once again. This time making even more sure everything was tracking correctly. In the end I didn’t really mind it because the game was just so much fun for me to play through. In fact I did the DLC twice, just for fun. I highly recommend this game. #345 Hard Reset Redux Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Playtime: 40 hours? One game done from the backlog! Hard Reset Redux is a First Person Shooter from the creators of Shadow Warrior. And has a near identical trophy list. I started this game almost exactly a year ago and finished almost all of it apart from the hardest thing to do: Heroic difficulty. I had to leave my apartment for a few weeks back then and when I returned I couldn’t bother anymore to finish it. Until a few days ago I booted it back up. And I forgot that this game was pretty fun to play through. Now, I’ve read a lot of comments that this game is supposed to be easier than Shadow Warrior but I strongly disagree. In Shadow Warrior you have the OP katana sword that can heal you with a certain attack, plus you can heal yourself at any point. In Hard Reset Redux you only have health kits as a pick up, and it’s a fixed amount. If you picked them all up during a long fight there is no way to heal yourself anymore. In Shadow Warrior boss fights were stand alone levels, in this game they are at the end of these one hour levels. And they can be very hectic. Mission 5 is where I died the most times, as at the end you have a big boss fight that can one shot you at any point and you are not as strong yet as later in the game. This mission alone took me 8 hours. You constantly get surprised attacked and if you don’t know what’s coming you will probably die. Therefore I had to play on Easy difficulty to relearn all enemy spawn locations so I knew what to expect. And where all the collectibles are as you need it to upgrade your guns asap. I remember dying 50 times on Insane difficulty which you need to do to unlock Heroic, and about 20 times on Heroic. That’s 70 deaths compared to 10 deaths in my entire Shadow Warrior platinum run. Update: So what’s next in February? First of all. God of War Ragnarok. I might actually complete this before the end of January as it’s the next game I will play. I bought this with my brother and he has had it for the past two months as I had plenty of other games to play, but now it’s my turn. Also the (hopefully) final DLC for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will drop the 27th of January so I will come back to that game and clean it up. I also want to do another game from the backlog next month and I assume that’s going to be Crash Bandicoot 4. And I will probably buy a new game. I’m thinking of Borderlands 3 as the Ultimate Edition is pretty cheap on disc. But it might be Crisis Core or Horizon Forbidden West too. I also bought Super Meat Boy Forever to add to my difficult games I still want to play. But that’s probably going to take a while before I get to that point. Until next month. Popular Post Baker
#346 God of War Ragnarok Enjoyment: 10/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 50 hours I managed to finish one more game in January and holy shit. This may have been the best story driven AAA game I ever played. I played the entire game on Give Me Balance (normal) difficulty and I felt this was a bit harder than GoW 2018. Even so that I lowered the difficulty when I needed to fight Gna because after an hour I still hadn’t beaten her. It was after I finished the game I learned there are accessibility options that also give a checkpoint in each boss fight. I wondered why the trophy rarities were this high but now I understand. I also managed to play entirely without a guide, I just had to look up one Odin Raven, and that’s always a plus for me. I don’t like having to follow guides. 10/10 Epic! Baker - January 2023 Update: I’m going to take a little break from gaming for a week or something. After GoW there is just nothing I want to play at the moment. The game was too good and everything else will now feel as a chore. But when I continue it’s with Stranger of Paradise DLC’s, Crash Bandicoot 4 and Borderlands 3. That is if I can find some motivation to continue with CB4. I hope so. My goal for this month is at the end being at 391/393 completed games. 12 games left. Let’s go! Popular Post Baker
Update: I bought Super Meat Boy Forever a couple of months ago when it was on sale for €3 or something. I didn’t know if I would like but for that kind of price it’s worth the gamble. Still I played this on my second account first to see if I would enjoy it and I was basically hooked from the start. But this game is very difficult. I had a few doubts but then I remembered I never didn’t play a game I liked because of difficulty. So here we are. I just finished my first world and I will do regular updates on this game because it’s been a while since I played something this challenging. The Dark World took me around the same amount of time as Impossible Boy from SMB. And if I hadn’t watched @Arcesius his video I would still be attempting this. He did a few jumps with a safer strategy which makes a huge deal. I copied his seed and so I will have the same level lay out for all no death runs and that makes a big difference. Thanks already for all the questions you answered but I’ll probably have some more in the near future. ? And I bought Borderlands 3 to play alongside this game. Also looking forward to playing that. This means Stranger of Paradise and Crash Bandicoot 4 will remain in the backlog for now.

Baker
Update: And a sad one.. So my controller started to make a downwards motion without me touching it making SMBF impossible for me to play through. I can’t even do a single no death run, even through an easy light world, because of it. So I need a new one but unfortunately those things are too expensive for me. And Borderlands 3: Ultimate Edition came in. Well, Ultimate.. The DLC codes are missing so I only have the base game. I contacted the store but it’s basically my word against theirs. Let’s see how they will handle this. A stroke of bad luck. Onto Stranger of Paradise for now I guess.. Edited February 9, 2023 by Baker
