Popular Post Baker
#313 + 100% Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Playtime: 300+ hours Let’s go back to June 2020. Having just played the new Modern Warfare I was in the mood to play some more Call of Duties. And then WWII went free on Ps Plus. And since I had terrible experiences with setting up boosting sessions on this site I wanted to play this with some people I knew from the forums here. So I asked @Arcesius if he was interested. Not knowing then, and for reasons still unknown to me now, he doesn’t like FPS games. I know.. It’s weird.. So he kindly declined but said that @Mori was going to play it and I could ask him. And so I did. Together with @HusKy & @Koro249 we had a full team. After finishing the game we discussed about doing more CoD’s and we also did that. WWII was quickly followed by Infinite Warfare, Advanced Warfare & Black Ops III. After that I think we were all a bit burned out by Zombies so it was time for a break. I knew Koro already played Black Ops 4 years earlier and although we discussed about playing it I was always hesitant about starting it. And I told them: Yeah.. Maybe.. And for one reason only: The Blackout (Battle Royale) trophies. I played a bit of Fortnite and I hated it and the whole concept of a Battle Royale game so much that I never wanted to play a BR game again. But then I suddenly saw Mori & Koro play BO4 I think somewhere in August. And at first I just looked at how much they were playing and how fast they would get the Blackout trophies and when they got it fast I thought: ‘Alright, let’s just go for it’. ‘It can’t be that bad’. Asked them if I could still join and bought the cheapest disc version I could find. And a few months later, because Mori couldn’t play for a while, I started the game myself. I didn’t want to ask them for help with Blackout because I knew they also didn’t like the mode so I started looking for some good boosting sessions to join here. And that’s when I saw a session by a fellow Dutchman, always a good thing, for doing the Blackout characters. In particular Reznov. So I joined. In Blackout you need to unlock characters for trophies. 12 characters to be exact. And for every one of them you need to find a different specific item, most of the time get some sort of kill, and then get a placement. Depending on if you play solo, duo or quads the placement you need to get is higher. For Reznov you need to pick up a item that can spawn in 3 locations, get a kill from 200 metres and place 5th/3rd/2nd. (Solo/duo/quads) So initially I was with Cursed, the Dutch guy, and someone else and I just let them kill me for Reznov while trying to learn the map a bit. And they helped me to get the easier characters. Once they both got Reznov I still had a lot of characters to do and then I played an evening with Mori and I got almost all of them quickly and easily. Including Reznov on my very first attempt. Then there were only two left: Mason & Woods. I already wrote about this before but.. 45 HOURS! 45 hours it took me to get this character just because I needed a RNG item that just never spawned for me. After 20 hours of searching I found it for the first time. Well, it wasn’t even me, it was Mori who found it in the first game we searched for it together, but I got killed seconds later. The fact Mori found it says it all. I’ve come to learn that the amount of luck these two Germans have is insane. If you want a specific item from a mystery box in Zombies just ask Koro. He will get it first try. ? In the end I got it solo and then there was only Woods left. For Woods you actually need to win the game after picking up an item that luckily always spawns in the same location and then fly a helicopter for a minute. Now the state of Blackout in 2021 is imo like this. 80% is either a prestige master sweat or a pro twitch streamer that plays this game for a living. The other 20% are noobs like myself. And in case you don’t know how a BR game works. If you die, it’s back to the lobby. At least on the main map in solo. So let me repeat. You need to win. Against these type of players. It’s easy just to hide and camp your ass off into a top placement for the other characters but winning is very difficult. Especially in the main map where you need to get Woods. So I asked how Mori & Koro got Woods and I wasn’t surprised when they said. ‘We joined a quads game and got paired with some really good players and got it first try’. Separately! This is what I initially tried too but ofcourse I just got paired with other noobs and my team always died in 5 min. Then the thought hit me again. ‘These two Germans are so lucky it’s insane, do they even realise it?’ One night I also tried it with Cursed in solo and after two hours of trying we didn’t even make it out of the Woods camp. ? It’s the little area where the item spawns and on a bad evening it can be so busy with other players it’s almost impossible to get out alive. In the end I got it in a solo game and the video is at the top of the previous page. I was very happy to be done as that was also my final win I needed. You need to win Blackout 10 times. Half of my wins I got by going for the characters and actively trying to win in Alcatraz (a smaller map where you can only play in quads), the other half by joining a match in Alcatraz, watch some tv, and see if my teammates won when I heared the match ended on my controller. ? Enough about Blackout. Let’s take a look at Multiplayer. MP: Good And straight through to Zombies. This was a blast. I enjoyed this mode so much I played it way beyond what’s necessary for trophies. Many posts ago I said I was close to Master Prestige and that’s exactly what I ended up being. Pretty happy I managed that. And I did all calling card challenges and about half of the diamond weapon camo’s. Now originally @KindaSabbath was supposed to join us for this game but unfortunately he had some issues to deal with (good to see you’re back) and so there was a spot open. So we asked Cursed, and he joined us for all Zombie Easter Eggs. I really liked the new maps in this mode. From ancient Rome, to ancient Greece, to a haunted house, to the Titanic. Alright the Titanic wasn’t the best map, but overall very good. And there were a couple of rehashed versions of older maps from previous games. Blood of the Dead was amazing. The Easter Eggs themselves were actually easy if you compare them to the EE’s in other Call of Duties. In fact, this was probably the easiest Zombie mode of them all apart from Black Ops: Cold War. (and Vanguard ?) Plus I had so many Pay 2 Win elixers from going to Master Prestige the only thing that could stop us from finishing the EE’s was a disconnect. And ofcourse that happened the very first time we tried the EE on the map IX and were halfway done. Luckily no more disconnects after that. (I think) To end this pretty long rambling we just bought Call of Duty: Ghosts and Husky is back in the team. And I just realised: This is going to be the last Call of Duty we’re going to play together. ? Let’s make it a good one. ✌? Shrooba
Another great completion done! And holy moly, 45 hours for the RNG to play into your hand! BO4 is a definitely huge grind, and with online trophies at that, making it a flex-worthy completion. ? Like, with single-player games you could always rationalize that you can come back to it at anytime if there's a part you're having trouble on, but then games with online trophies add the stress of potential server complications! ? Those fickle things are quite finite! As a side note, I see you started Persona 5 Strikers, great game that one. But get ready for the dreaded 10 hour Metatron bond level grind... but going off the Mason complications, 10 hours might not seem that long for ya! ? I'll tell you in advance, use the persona Thor as his moves do extra damage, and I think Metatron sometimes drops permanent stat boost items which you can add to Thor. But in any case, well done with BO4! The journey continues with Ghosts...
KindaSabbath
Congratulations @Baker - massive completion this one! It sounds like you guys had fun and that’s what it’s all about my dude! I’m gutted that I missed out on this one, I just ended up with a bunch on my plate. I am super happy that you guys nailed it though! I’m going to miss casually reading the chat and keeping up with you guys from the outside looking in! ?

Then we had one coop session where we played the map that grants the DLC weapon... Only for Koro to get the drop on his first clear ? This has been quite the journey since you joined these guys early last year... Nice recap, and you guys enjoy the last one!
Popular Post Baker
#314 Persona 5 Strikers Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 55 hours My first ever Musou game. And I ended up liking it a lot. This for me was much more enjoyable than Persona 5. I always thought a Musou game was more of a tower defence game where you just fight against never ending hordes of enemies and that’s basically it. And I don’t like tower defence games. But this game was just a action JRPG where instead of fighting maybe 5-10 enemies per battle you have fights where you fight dozens at the same time. So what made this more enjoyable than P5 for me? No free time mechanic! No more boring bonding stuff to do, waiting for days to pass by. I really hated that in P5 and it’s not in this game. The story in this game is basically the same as in P5 where you go into Jails and change people’s hearts. The time between Jails is pretty long with a lot of dialogue and more often meaningless dialogue so I just held the skip button again whenever it wasn’t about the main plot. It seems to be a reoccurring thing for me in last games I played. I do enjoy the turn based combat more in P5 than this action style combat but only by a slight margin. Mainly because of the fact that the AI in this game is just atrocious. You don’t really experience it playing on Normal difficulty but if you go into NG+ and play Merciless you’re in for a tough time. And the AI is not helping. In fact you are spending most of the time, especially in Boss fights, reviving and healing your party as they like to walk into one hit death attacks. You have your Persona’s again which you can level up, fuse into more powerful ones, strengthen your stats and switch out abilities. It’s basically the same as in P5. I really enjoy this kind of stuff. Trophy wise it’s all very straightforward except there is one trophy where you need to max out your bonding points. Which comes down to leveling up, although you get some bonding points just in the story or completing side quests. And this trophy takes many hours of grinding. There are a couple of strategies for this. One is fighting Metatron, a side quest, over and over again at the end of NG. Another one which I did is going into NG+ on Merciless difficulty, going through the story until you get to the 2nd Jail and fight Snake King over and over. Which gives about quadruple the exp. So at the end of NG I maxed out all my Persona’s by using a so called Fusion Loop. This way I got all my Persona’s with 99 stats. Jumped into Merciless and had overwritten my savefile. Once you’re in Merciless there is no going back. You can’t lower the difficulty. I wasn’t worried because I thought I would be overpowered for this mode but then I got one shot to death in the very first intro fight by a Pixie. Oops. ? Merciless is actually Merciless. And this is where your AI party becomes terrible in the game. But once knowing what to expect I played it safe until I got to the Snake King grinding spot. I recorded this for posting in the forums about grinding for the bonding trophy and I’ll just post it here too. If you might be interested in the game you can see what the battle system looks like. This is a Snake King loop, which I needed to do for 7-8 hours. Overall highly enjoyable game and it now got me interested in games like Dragon Quest Heroes. Shrooba
Excellent job on P5S! I... actually didn't know there was another way to grind the bond level lol. I just did merciless up to like the first jail or something to finish the compendium, I didn't think to grind a boss on the harder difficulty which is an interesting way to do it. It's interesting to hear you prefer Strikers over 5. Do you reckon you'll play Royal? Do note that you'd also have to play through the entire main game again, and a playthrough is around 100 hours... On second thought, maybe Strikers will be at the top for you after all. ? One of the mechanics that's handled infinitely better in Strikers is that you can actually leave and return to the jail whenever you want to restock supplies. I suppose this wouldn't work in a mainline Persona game given the time format, but I do think it's just much more convenient in Strikers' case. When I did 5's plat, I aimed to do it in one playthrough since I already did Royal, and I had to exit and restock for ONE palace which costed a single day... and I had to re-plan lots of shit later in the year with the calendar guide I was following. I felt like a fricking lawyer organizing that stuff! ? Great job on the completion mate, nice work!

There is no way I’ll play Royal. ? I don’t stack games, but even if I did, I didn’t like Persona 5 that much. The only good things about P5 are the battle system & the graphics style. The characters and story were okay too I guess. I find it a shame that the spin off series Persona has become more popular than the main series Shin Megami Tensei. SMT games are far superior imo. If you liked Persona 5, I would recommend playing SMT: Nocturne and experience the difference. I saw you’re playing Trackmania Turbo and got the 50 trackmasters out of the way. Congrats! I did exactly the same, as I grabbed all trackmasters on the first 50 single lap tracks thinking it would also be good practice. Which it was, but it was nowhere near the difficulty this game throws at you later on. Good luck!
Popular Post Baker
#315 Void Bastards Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 40 hours When a very fun game gets ruined by a terrible trophy list: Take 50 ? As always when there is a new PSN sale I casually look through all the games to see if there is a game I never heard of before and see if it’s something I like as I watch the trailer. And then I saw Void Bastards. The trailer of this game looked amazing to me. It looked like a cell shaded FPS. ? So I went checking some reviews on Youtube and when ACG, my go to guy for reviews, recommended this game I had to buy it. Only it’s not really a FPS. I can only describe it as a first person, tactical, survival roguelite. Your goal in this game is to collect a certain amount of specific items which can be found in spaceships in order to escape the nebula. Every spaceship is randomly generated, and in these spaceships you can find many materials to upgrade your guns and gear, or some special items like a warp key and a torpedo. When you go from ship to ship in space every time you move you consume 1 food and 1 fuel. You can find food and fuel in spaceships or on special nodes. The further you go horizontal the more of these special nodes you find. The further you go vertical the deeper you go into the nebula depths and the spaceships and enemies get a lot harder. Food and fuel are really the only important items you need to get in order to stay alive. So here I am in nebula depth 5 which is the deepest you can go. To my immediate right is a special node for fuel but you can also see three other things here. A blue whale at the bottom centre, a purple spaceship to the right of that and a blue twister that’s above these two. When you hit a whale, you die. Unless you’ve found a torpedo in a previous ship. The same can be said about the purple ship which is a pirate ship. These pirates follow you around until you board a ship and these enemies are very tough to beat so avoid these at all costs. Easy to do with a warp key, which teleports you to any node on the map or the aforementioned torpedo. Now the blue twister is very annoying as it swaps one of your traits. Most of the time for a negative one, but very occasionally for a positive one. Only probably not as good as you already have. The person you start out with is also always randomised. And each person has a specific trait. These traits can be either positive or negative. But you can find gen machines to remove negative and add positive traits to your character in specific spaceships. But that’s also randomised every time you use the gen machine. The problem is you can’t predict the movement of any of these three things. And here we get to the first part I did not like about this game. When you die, you respawn as a new character and you keep all your gun upgrades, progression items, etc.. What you don’t keep is food, fuel and merits (money). So dying really sets you back a lot. Luckily the game auto saves every time you move to the next ship. And when you die due to enemies or hazards in the spaceship you can just press start, go back to the main menu and continue just before entering the ship. But, when you get surrounded by these twisters, whales and pirates and you don’t have any warp keys or torpedoes, which are pretty rare, I always made a back up save. And I had to redownload my save file so many times to avoid them it wasn’t fun anymore. Also the mini trophy guide in the forums mentions this game can crash and corrupt your save data. So that also had me back up my save on a regular basis. Fortunately I did not have any crashes or corrupted saves. Maybe the game has had a patch, because my PS4 is cursed and crashes in games where apparently I’m the only one that experiences them. ? Now onto the next thing that made this game a lot less fun than it could have been. You see all these guns, special grenades, special attacks, more health, better protection against hazards, etc..? All this fun stuff? Well you won’t use it at all. And it’s thanks to the awful trophy list. So for starters you need to beat the game on Hard Bastard, the hardest difficulty, without dying. The enemies are tough so all you will be doing is go into ships, run, try to grab food and fuel and go get the objective items. After you beat the game you unlock restrictions. One of them is that you need to beat the game with firearms only. You can combine this with a trophy where you can’t upgrade anything. So it’s just you and your unupgraded starting pistol. And guess what. All you will be doing is go into ships, run, try to grab food and fuel and go get the objective items. And then repeat that for another 3 playthroughs with slightly different restrictions. Where the worst one is where you are unarmed. You have nothing. You can upgrade your health but that’s really the only thing that’s helpful. So all you will be doing is go into ships, run, try to grab food and fuel and go get the objective items. ? And why running and move fast through these ships you might ask? Well because once you’re in a ship you have a set amount of time before your oxygen runs out and you suffocate to death. It can take anywhere between 3-15 minutes depending on the ship, but the ships with the mission items are always on the low side. So you can’t take your time and stealth your way through these ships either.. Luckily there is one fun trophy for maxing out all upgrades. Which is the picture above. Here you can try out all your different gear and actually kill enemies on your difficulty of choice, Easy Peasy for me, instead of trying to avoid them all the time. Now this all sounds a bit negative but this game was still very addicting and I definitely recommend it. I really couldn’t stop playing this and because of that I’m now the 2nd fastest platinum achiever. Although this game is pretty obscure as there are only 47 of them. ? Quick thanks to @DrBloodmoney for answering my questions in the forums. Much appreciated! Edited January 25, 2022 by Baker

det_gittes
Good job on the platinum! And nice to see more info about this game, I installed it a couple of weeks ago and am ready to play it, but the collectibles in Returnal are taking me way too long. Too bad the trophy requirements take away from the overall fun experience :/ but I still hope I will enjoy it. How long is one playthrough approximately?

I mean, Void Bastards made it into Dr. Bloodmoney's "Worst Trophy List" top-3 this year, while RAD did not... Having played RAD, I can only imagine how bad this one must be in that regard ? Multiple playthroughs with different restrictions, or with specific weapons, etc... actually wouldn't sound THAT bad... But if all of those restrictions force you to play in the same way (and that "same way" is not engaging with the game at all...)... yeah, doesn't sound too fun ? So, I noticed that you edited your post above where you mentioned wanting to earn a trophy in challenging games ? I was still wondering something.. you mentioned that you had 4 games lined up, and I think I figured out 3 of them (especially since an account named very similarly to yours recently unlocked a trophy in a game I didn't think you'd play ?), but I cannot figure out the fourth one... do you have a hint for us? ?

My first playthrough took me around 10 hours I think. But I still needed to learn the game at that point. The biggest tip I can give is don’t spend your merits on locked lockers inside pirate ships. What I forgot to mention is that these objective items you need can also be build, and the parts needed for building them can be bought with merits. You will understand what I mean once you play the game. Once I figured that out my consecutive playthroughs took around 4-5 hours. But they can still be done much faster. I just played it safe. Yeah the trophy list could have been better but this isn’t close to being as bad as Devil May Cry 5. Where the list is so bad that I just don’t want to play the best hack ‘n slash game out there anymore. That says enough. Damn it! ? My secondary account gave it away huh? I had the other ones. You'll enjoy the speedruns! Having time to grind them out, they shouldn't be THAT bad... You just need to make sure you play in a way that is comfortable for you... i.e. decide if you want to play with the stick or D-pad, and then stick to your decision. Since the ink can only be shot in 8 directions and not in a full rotation, most people use the D-Pad. But I just didn't manage to get comfortable with it, so I played with the stick... And of course! That’s basically the whole online part of the trophy list, and I doubt that will take 10 minutes. ? That will probably take a few hours boosting, by letting your opponent potting the black ball in 8 ball, or many, many hours playing online against randoms. I prefer the first scenario. ? And I love playing pool in real life. Been doing it for close to 20 years now. So I always wanted to play a pool game. Should be fun.

I do like the idea when you pop a trophy in something & it makes you commit a lot easier. I've done that with a few games too.
det_gittes
3 hours ago, Baker said: Well in order to get all accolades in the game you need to win 100 online games and 9 online games in a row. That’s basically the whole online part of the trophy list, and I doubt that will take 10 minutes. That will probably take a few hours boosting, by letting your opponent potting the black ball in 8 ball, or many, many hours playing online against randoms. I prefer the first scenario. And I love playing pool in real life. Been doing it for close to 20 years now. So I always wanted to play a pool game. Should be fun. Right, so I forgot about one of the accolades being tied to online, still, if 9 online games took 10 minutes or so (that's what I was looking at), then 100 will only take a couple of hours at most, which is not too bad. The real difficulty (and the insane grind) is somewhere else ?

But looking at the DLC description I think it might make the game harder.
Baker
Update: Hard Reset Redux A FPS from the makers of Shadow Warrior and with a near identical trophy list. Most comments about this game said this game is supposed to be easier than Shadow Warrior but I would have to disagree. In fact I think this game is a lot harder. I finished the game on Insane difficulty and I had a total death count of around 50. Compared to SW where I died 10 times in my entire platinum run. I still need to do Heroic difficulty. So once again that means playing on the hardest difficulty, with no saves, and no checkpoints so you need to beat every level in one go. And just like SW these levels are pretty lengthy, 30-60 minutes, and where in SW the boss fights were in stand alone levels, in this game they’re at the end of these long levels. This is going to take some trial and error. Unfortunately I ran into a glitch where the trophy for collecting all collectibles in the first 7 levels didn’t unlock. I can’t seem to find any solution to fix this other than to delete all game and save data and start from scratch once it’s my last trophy left. Annoying because it means I need to follow the collectible guide again for 5-6 hours. ? Now for some better news I finally bought Yakuza: Remastered Collection. Hyped because I love the Yakuza games. And because I liked Persona 5 Strikers a lot more than anticipated I also bought Dragon Quest Heroes II. And with a 200 hour expected platinum time this will keep me busy a long time. I bought enough games for now. My backlog is at an all time high with 18 games. I don’t even know where to start anymore. Luckily the only game I’m interested in is the new Final Fantasy Origins game coming out in March. So until then I won’t buy anything anymore. Hopefully.. ? Popular Post Baker
I’ve been gone for a few weeks but I’m back! In a completely renovated apartment I might say. Very happy about that. ? So what’s next? I have finally found the motivation to finish DMC 5. I already made some progress on S ranking all the missions. I finished all S ranks on Human and Devil Hunter. So now it’s time to tackle Son of Sparda and Hell & Hell, and then finish it with Dante must Die. In the mean time I’m also going to finish Hard Reset Redux. I just need to do a Heroic playthrough. That shouldn’t cause too much problems although it’s not easy by any means.. And I’m going to put some effort back into Pix the Cat. I’ve only tried to get the hardest trophy one time, where I did a 5 hour session in one evening but it was too hard for me at the time. For me it plays a bit like SMB, where the longer I play the easier it gets. So a lot more practice is probably required. After that it’s time to relax with some Dragon Quest Heroes II and Pure Pool. Baker
#317 Shadow Warrior 3 Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: - Playtime: 20 hours ‘That giant cock slapped us around pretty good’ ’It was the second biggest I’ve ever seen’ Guess who’s back? It’s Lo Wang! So we have another game full with dick jokes. The third Shadow Warrior game goes once again in a different direction than the previous entries. The fast en fluid shooting is still here but it has also introduced a new feature: platforming. And this platforming was very good. It reminded me a lot of another game I recently played: Ghostrunner. You have a grappling hook and you will be jumping and wallrunning from battle to battle. That’s it. But it’s done very well. The battle system is still fast. Once again you have your katana and 6 guns to kill the never ending demons on your way. And it actually is never ending. Until you kill all the bigger demons, the smaller ones will spawn indefinitely. If you kill with the katana you get ammo drops, if you kill with the guns you get health drops. They will also drop finisher orbs which you can use to kill one of these bigger demons instantly and take their weapon for a set amount of time to do as much killing as you can. Also nothing to complain here. It’s a lot of fun! The story is about killing a big ass dragon. Now as soon as the trophy list got released it looked to me like it would be a very easy 10 hour platinum and that was correct. There was only one tedious trophy and that was fully upgrading Wang, which basically comes down to finding collectibles. And with no chapter select or NG+ you have to find them all in one playthrough. If you miss one, it’s all the way back to the start. Yesterday the first complete guide for these orbs was released so now the platinums will be incoming. I also experienced a crash and lost my save game close to the end of the game. Not that it matters much as you can blast through this game in a few hours. This is a 6 hour, 2/10 platinum if you follow a guide. But it’s great nonetheless! So grab a free 7 day trial on Ps Now, like I did, and play it for free!
Shrooba
Well done with the completion! It's a shame you lost your save. I've dealt with issues like that before, and I can relate. On the bright side though, at least no flights of stairs killed you this time! ? Funny how you mentioned Ghostrunner, since it's now available on PS+... I might need to pick that up at one point. It is free after all! And also, great work with CoD Ghosts! I think the CoD for this year is a sequel to 2019's MW. I personally thought 2019's CoD had a really good campaign. It'll be interesting to see where they take it! Edited March 8, 2022 by Shrooba
Baker
#316 + 100% Call of Duty: Ghosts Enjoyment: - Difficulty: - Playtime: 65 hours I didn’t like this game at all so all I’m going to say about this game is a nice emoji: ? Update: 2 weeks ago I made a post about doing DMC 5, Hard Reset Redux and Pix The Cat. Forget that. I’m not in the mood to play any of those games at all at the moment. I think I’m going to start Yakuza 3 Remastered instead. And even though I didn’t want to buy any new games until Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins comes out, today I was casually browsing a webstore and then I saw Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time for only €21. I couldn’t resist. It’s coming in tomorrow. ? Edited March 8, 2022 by Baker
