Ah, yes. Sonic CD. This is always fun to replay, thanks to the time travel mechanics, some of the most unique boss battles in the series and of course, excellent JP/EU soundtrack. Hearing those classic tunes always brings a smile to my face. Especially in this game when going for the good ending, which I also did for the other three. I always enjoy listening to the music that plays in Act 3 of each Zone which I like to think them as a reward you get if you’ve managed to either destroy the generators in the past or collect all the Time Stones before that. Metallic Madness is a good example, and it’s my personal favorite of all the Good Future themed songs in the game. It sounds beautiful.

 

I also decided to play the last two games I had on Classic Mode instead on Anniversary Mode. In the latter one, lives are removed, which means that you have infinite tries. Since I was familiar with these two, I never had any trouble clearing the former one. I only had to restart a few times, and that because I failed to clear at least two Special Stages in time. Other than that, it went pretty well.

 

As for Sonic 3 & Knuckles, last time I played this was about 10 years ago or so. How much I missed it. For the most part. What really bothers me is that they replaced some of the original songs with new ones. Some of them sound good, but the ones that play in the Launch Base Zone don’t. Other than that, it was fun experience it again.

 

And thus, I’ve experienced all the classic games again. I didn’t use the debug mode to get the platinum faster, as I wanted to take my time and enjoy them. I also went for the good ending in each game, all the time. It feels more satisfying to do that than rushing it.

 

So, what next? For now, I’ll take a break from trophy hunting for a while, as I want to prepare myself for my 150th platinum milestone. In other words, no new trophies until the start of the next year.

 

As for what I’ve planned for that milestone, it’s this.

I'm proud of this one, man. A lot of the requirements (for this bronze trophy) drove me nuts - sniping those small bolts off of a moving tank while flying, staying up Mori and Brucie's asses in a ridiculous race, and some time requirements that reminded me of slaving away at the Fly the Co-op trophy?

 

Oh, and that Buzzard. GTA V helicopters spoiled me, man.. that thing shoots and handles like ass.

 

Having said that, I really do appreciate the challenge, it made me feel like I've truly conquered Ballad. It's such a great DLC, from the radio stations and color schemes to new mini-games, characters, and weapons. And the story, of course!

 

Anyway, just gonna bask in victory for another moment... okay I'm done?
