I really enjoy updating my threads and being part of it but a lot of people aren't updating their threads and haven't done so from a few months to up to a year. Something needs to be done about this if people are still interested in Project Platinum continuing. Life happens, people get bored, become busy or something happens that's out of their control and they're unable to keep commitments they have made. I'm one of the people that wants Project Platinum to continue, but it won't be able to with all of these outdated threads. I don't know what to do myself, but I'm hoping that any others who are still as interested in Project Platinum as I am will comment here and hopefully we can work together to revive it. If few people see this or respond to this post then next week I'm going to be PMing thread creators myself to find out if they're still interested in running their threads. Here's hoping ZoneHunter's community event he started almost 2 years ago doesn't die out. EDIT: I'm also aware that the Leaderboard is a necessity but there's no point re-doing one if the majority of the Halls of Fame aren't up to date. I'm personally still a fan of PP: I'm still trying to (gradually) move up the leaderboards and keep my own thread up to date. I'm happy to take on another thread or two if any creators are no longer interested in maintaining. Transformers has been up to date since the last update. For some reason I stopped receiving notifications for Angels and Demons. I will update it later today. Edit: Updated. MidnightCJ Posted August 1, 2017 Share Posted August 1, 2017 I think the reason Project Platinum is dying is because the mods of those threads realized that updating forever is impossible - more games in the genre get made every year, increasing the list by leaps and bounds. (Take Point-and-Click - I listed several games which belong in that list that aren't, like Lost Grimoires and Eventide.) So they decided to stop updating and hope the threads get taken down. I am not trying to witch-hunt either but just stating that if I started a PP thread three years ago and found that those who had gotten the ultimate title no longer qualify because new games came out, I'd close the thread with an apology: "Sorry, I know you people are eager to regain your titles but chances are we'll be left behind in two years when they release six more titles in the list." I'm not a pessimist, just a realist who was mislabeled an optimist who knows the state of gaming. Heck, the current Ratchet and Clank game could become archaic by 2022, who knows? If that's the case, I don't mind having to take over a few of the threads if their creators are ok with doing so. But as I'm not one to write a lot I never reached the necessary posts you need to host one. I remember about 2 years ago when the community contest etc sub thread was created and all sorts of new comps, weplays and community events arose. Not to many are still left standing today which is a shame. They are great for the community. I would be happy to offer to take on two threads if their owners need a break (happy to hand back at anytime) or to take them on if they wish to leave them. However, I don't think that the solution is for everyone to take over the old threads as all that will do is perpetuate the issue. I think the solution would be to focus on quality over quantity. Limiting the amount of threads each owner will manage, ensuring anyone who signs up actually intends on playing the games by limiting the amount of bonus awards each thread has. Also, I think that the black "hidden/participation" award should require at least a single trophy be earned in a game included in the PP. Lots of people would just sign up and then never actually play any of the games. But I think it would be better if others had input and everyone agreed on a specific number. I also wouldn't mind allowing more than that under certain circumstances, e.g. the owner has 3 already and has kept all of their PP threads up to date without fail, they're active in the community and people are joining their threads on a regular basis. Mostly because it ran so slowly and crashed on me often when i was making changes to the layout of it. I don't think taking away all the mixed bag PPs is a good idea, since that takes away some of the fun of making PP's. The problem is going crazy with them and not sticking by the original rules that were set. No genre-based or developer-based PP rules got thrown out the window, which is why there are so many.
