Popular Post Fanatixa1
Hey everyone, It’s been awhile since I’ve wrote an update, but here it is. I’ve finished of the Spyro games and Untitled Goose game. All the games were amusing and not too hard to platinum. I started playing Celeste again and I’ve almost finished level 3 without assist mode. I really enjoy the game and it’s actually a bit addictive to get further and further. I’ll probably need the assist mode later, but for now I’ll play it as it is. As the end of the challenge is coming closer and I’m having a hard time finishing the longer games. I’ll start by switching Sekiro for Life is Strange 2. I really want to play Life is Strange 2 and I’ll never finish Sekiro before the challenge ends. I plan to definitely finish it in the future, but not this challenge. I’m going to try and finish off one of the other longer games, not sure which one it’s going to be yet. I’ll still have 2 drops tho and some switches left and I want to finish this challenge with a 100% completion! But that should workout just fine Good luck everyone and have fun! It gave me a scare tho. When I had 5 locations left to do only 4 showed on the map. I thought I was screwed with the 190/191 locations bug but then I remembered reading that there's one location in Chumbucket's territory that doesn't get revealed by camps, I actually had to go there for it to show up. Whew! What a relief. How to Survive 2: It's a top-down survival game with zombies, playing as MacGyver (not really) building everything from scratch. It expands on some of the stuff from the first game, this time exploring swamps, farms and run-down cities and not just islands. Also there are more stuff to build, even get to build my own base. A couple of characters make a comeback from the first game but it's not necessary to play it. This one stands on its own and things need to be known are explained. I'm prolly making it sound more awesome than it is. It's not a AAA game but it's fun. There's a LOT of material collecting and exp. grinding so I can see this being a great time sink.

Popular Post iXanon
Update #13: You may have noticed another 2-week gap since my last update. Due to other commitments I basically had to take a week's absence from gaming, so it wasn't really worth me posting as literally nothing had changed from the previous week. I thought my efforts would have been focused on Killzone once again, but instead found myself playing Color Guardians amongst other games outside of this challenge. I don't know why this game is taking me so long to finish, as every time I load it up it seems to just throw trophies at me! The percentage increase could have potentially been quite a bit higher, but I'm trying to finish F1 2017 (yep, it's distracting me again!) and make the platinum my 2000th trophy milestone.. At this point I am going to use my second drop, and lose Watch Dogs from the list as I have literally no motivation to play it on top of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Saints Row: The Third. Sadly I'm also going to declare that I will not be participating in the Spring challenge in order to try and focus my efforts on the ABC challenge.. If you're still running these next year I'll most likely make a return.. Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
Happy Monday everyone It's Monday update time from me (full list in spoiler tag) with some more progress in Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition. The trophy list is much slower paced in the meta-stuff it asks of you in comparison to many other games which parallel main story campaigns and general progress a little more closely. It's also a much shorter list too, which is interesting. It's funny really, you play enough games, you get used to seeing trophy notifications appear on the regular because of the way most trophy lists are set up. But then you play a game where you don't see them as frequently and you're like 'huh, that's weird, haven't seen any trophies for a while, did i turn my notifications off?'. I don't mind of course, I find it fascinating how trophies/achievements etc have become a much larger aspect of gaming in general now. Even if you as an individual don't really care about them, they are still present in gaming life. I got to thinking too, that it seems like trophy/achievement related stuff seems to be getting a bit more of a wider audience now with channels like Playstation Access doing regular platinum streams and just generally being more present in gaming media. I think i've always believed that a good trophy list which pushes a bit more into meta-requirements and challenges can really enrich and complement the actual game experience. I pushed through the main story campaign and am now I'm almost at the end of the final act (well, i'm pretty sure i'm at that last stages of it). I decided to pause on that and jumped into the White March expansion pack which is a sizeable amount of game in it's own right and with some pretty awesome extra story content and companions so far. Only major issue I have with it 50+ hours in is that it's not very well optimised for the PS4. Every map individually loads, which means if you go into any transition point, whether it's a whole new region or a smaller map like the interior of someone's house, you get a loading screen. And the length of that loading screen can vary, so if you are really in the flow of the game, those loading screens can be a huge pain in the ass. Aside from that though, i'm really loving this game and I'm so glad that in a week or two the sequel drops on PS4 (It's been out since last year on PC). Fingers crossed that it'll be more optimized than this one. I've had way more fun doing the plat for Far Cry 5 today than I had getting back into AC Revelations. The tractor is currently grinding kills for me I'm actually playing with the thought of getting New Dawn next instead of Black Flag. I kinda like Jared Leto (I know it's not him, but Joseph looks similiar imo) as the villain - not as good as Vaas but way better than Pagan Min If only the coop and endings weren't so messed up Far Cry 5 would be such an awesome game Glad I could get you into it bud. I played 1 hour of Zombi Survival and it still sucks so I have been playing God of War instead which isn't on my list as its for the ABC challenge.

I think i've always believed that a good trophy list which pushes a bit more into meta-requirements and challenges can really enrich and complement the actual game experience. Have been thinking about this as well, trophy lists are becoming more and more of an actual selling point for the game rather than just being an obligatory item/feature for developers to add to their products. Personally I have to admit that I held off buying some games due to their trophy list and vice versa and I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one here. AAA games won't really suffer much from it of course, the trophy hunting community probably isn't sizeable enough to make them really care about trophy lists (looking at you Naughty Dog) but small indie game developers can really thrive from an original, easy and/or fun trophy list (my name is mayo wouldn't probably even have half of its current sales if it weren't for trophies etc.). I'm kinda hoping AAA developers start to realise the advantages of a good trophy list as well in order to make them a bit more interesting and fun (hard but fair challenges, no multiplayer, no unnecessary mindless grinds etc.) but I'm also kinda afraid they will actually start to abuse them by locking the plat behind microtransactions for example or adding prized DLC which just consist of trophies and no additional content (which perhaps has even been done already, not sure about that). Some developers *cough* EA *cough* have already proven not to be too ashamed for these kinds of practices, which is starting to worry me a bit. Rather a dull trophy list than an expensive one.

As long as a multiplayer mode fits the general reason why people buy the game it's okay to put some trophies in (but there should be a patch / alternative way to unlock them after server shutdown) A thing that needs to go away and never come back is the 2010 - 2015 period of games... nobody is playing Assassins Creed Brotherhood because of the awesome stealth matches ... nobody is playing Far Cry 4 - 5 because of the awesome Deathmatch... nobody played Uncharted - you've got the point. I really like the step they took with the latest games in the Assassins Creed series, going back to a completly singleplayer based game. The trophy lists are fair aswell, some grindy things but as long as the game is fun - I do think that Odyssey went past his prime with the Lost Tales missions but I hope they learn from this. I'm interested in the Cyberpunk 2077 trophy list, because Witcher 3 has probably the most balanced trophy list time and difficulty wise of any AAA game I've played so far.

I'm just not a fan of multiplayer trophies in general though and I'm really hoping they will just kinda dissapear completely, even games with a big emphasis on multiplayer shouldn't necessarily include them imo, taking the latest call of duty as a positive example on that regard. They probably realised that leaving them out could only be beneficial towards their sales as well. If necessary, devs could always replace them by including some in game challenges/achievements for the multiplayer which would then unlock certain benefits for the singleplayer perhaps to make those trophies a bit easier for example. The multiplayer will still have a "purpose" for trophy hunters that way, but it would no longer be an absolute requirement. Just to be clear, I fully understand why games like Fifa and NBA etc. have multiplayer trophies of course, I'm definitely not mad about that, I'm not really interested in those games anyway but just like you stated, seeing games like the old AC, far cry and uncharted having multiplayer trophies kinda makes my blood boil I'm indeed hoping that those days are definitely over now, but I'm hoping that even those other titles would eventually drop them in the future as well.

Hope you all had a nice Christmas/New Year. Any of you have any interest in the back button attachment releasing in a couple of days for the PS4? I'm thinking of buying it, could see it being very useful for certain games, FPS's especially. ? The Escapists: The Walking Dead - I finished up the DLC about a week after my last update. It consisted of three unique levels of increasing difficulty. It's basically a survival wave based mode, which isn't as daunting as it may seem in the beginning. The first level proved to be the most difficult, as I barely got the score required for three stars. The remaining two levels were much easier however. I'd highly recommend following a guide for these. Fun game, just make sure you buy the physical version if it interests you. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time - I actually managed to pop the platinum on New Years Eve. I had already done the game once before on the PS3 so there was no surprises. It's an easy platinum, but can take a bit of time as completing tasks tends to be quite slow paced. I'd recommend using the 'thief' costume when you are collecting the treasures, as you are able to slow down time which decreases the difficulty dramatically. Certain trophies can be quite the pain, such as scaling the dragon tower (you need to restart the entire mission if you mess up) and perfecting the training montage (this is probably the most difficult trophy). It's a shame it'll realistically be the last Sly Cooper we'll get to play, especially after ending on a cliffhanger. WipEout Omega Collection - I beat the 2049 campaign and haven't returned to it since. The sheer difficulty of the some of the events is quite off putting. I guess I've just got to stop worrying about the difficulty of the game and just focus on enjoying it. It's actually quite fun when I play, I just need to play it on a more consistent level. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Finally returned to this game last week. Man, some of the trophies have been absolute hell. Jetstream Sam's DLC was on another level in comparison to the main game. Getting the no damage bonus against Armstrong on Revengeance mode was one of toughest trophies I've ever obtained. It's earned it's place in my trophy cabinet as a result. Khamsin, the boss in Blade Wolf's DLC was no push over either. I simply could not beat him fighting him head on on either Hard or Revengeance difficulty. Luckily I found out about video with a dodge into parry technique that made the fight an absolute breeze. The remaining two trophies are no simple task. An additional 30 VR missions on top of the 20 I had already completed as part of the main game. I'm at 20/30 completed at the moment, but I don't expect the remaining ten to go as smoothly as the first twenty. Hopefully I manage to pick up the 100% this week, would definitely be one of my favourites. Outside of this event, I picked up all the remaining single player trophies in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. It went be quick enough in the end, which was surprising. I just have multiplayer trophies left, not sure when I'll be in the mood to start those though! I've also completed two games (Dead Nation (VITA) + Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One) and have one trophy left to obtain in Amnesia Collection as part of @iXanon's event. I'll post another update near the end of the month, see you all then

You've earned some money to spend on weapons in singleplayer, and I think you even got some Perk points for a few level ups. But other than that the whole mode was a waste of time. But I admit that my interest for CoD multiplayer would be higher if I could earn some, I'd call them trophy tokens. Instead of earning another skin I'll never use for x-headshots with the AK-47 you would instead get a token and can trade them if you like. It should be a grind imho, the "legit" way should always take less time/ be easier than the "other" way, staying with the CoD example - instead of completing Mission X on Veteran or whatever the hightes difficulty is in the game you can trade... I'd say 10 tokens for a "harder" trophy. But maybe that's to easy... There're probably hundreds of theories by now how to change the trophy system, but as long as Sony and most of the devs don't really care about trophies it's just dreams

Popular Post Fanatixa1
Another update from me. I finished of Celeste. Almost finished the main story without assist mode, but the last part got too frustrating so I turned it on. The game is really good and easy to platinum with assist mode on. I made some last changes to my list also, like this I’ll be able to finish it before the end of the challenge. I dropped Judgment and Dragon Quest for now and I’ll switch Death Stranding for the Outer Worlds. To finish Judgment - 40% (27/47) —> drop Concrete Genie - 95% (53/56) platinum date 17-12-2019 Dragon Quest 11 - 15% (11/59) —> 24% (17/59) —> drop Celeste - 18% (8/31) —> 100% (31/31) platinum date 21-01-2020 Life is strange 2 - 9% (4/47) —> 24% (12/47) Death Stranding - 5% (4/63) —> switch to Outer Worlds - 4% (2/49) Finished games The Messenger - 100% (43/43) 100% date 25-11-2019 Control - 100% (47/47) platinum date 11-09-2019 A plague tale: Innocence - 100% (36/36) platinum date 16-09-2019 Shenmue II - 100% (28/28) platinum date 21-09-2019 Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight - 100% (42/42) platinum date 25-09-2019 Donut County - 100% (21/21) platinum date 04-11-2019 Spyro the dragon - 100% (37/37) Platinum date 05-12-2019 Spyro 2: Ripto’s rage! - 0% (0/30) —> 100% (30/30) platinum date 11-01-2020 Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon - 0% (0/41) —> 100% (41/41) platinum date 17-01-2020 Untitled Goose game 0% (0/25) —> 100% (25/25) platinum date 18-01-2020 Game switches used: 5/7 Drops used: 2/2
Zach
I've noticed people are announcing the're drops and swaps. At this point, I've used all 7 swaps and 2 drops. So nothing will change further. My two drops were Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories and Kingdoms Hearts 2. I will play them eventually, just won't get to the before this event ends.

ladynadiad
On 1/20/2020 at 8:16 AM, Flex_Da_Brent said: I'm kinda hoping AAA developers start to realise the advantages of a good trophy list as well in order to make them a bit more interesting and fun (hard but fair challenges, no multiplayer, no unnecessary mindless grinds etc.) but I'm also kinda afraid they will actually start to abuse them by locking the plat behind microtransactions for example or adding prized DLC which just consist of trophies and no additional content (which perhaps has even been done already, not sure about that). Some developers *cough* EA *cough* have already proven not to be too ashamed for these kinds of practices, which is starting to worry me a bit. Rather a dull trophy list than an expensive one. Actually it won't ever get too bad on PSN at least. Sony has a rather low upwards limit for the number of trophies that can be put into a game, I think it's 100? That definitely limits the amount of abuse possible via DLCs. However, there are games that do lock the plat behind DLC, one example is Life is Strange, but that one isn't too bad because the game is typically sold with all the DLC. However, it is a very real problem on Steam. There are devs who release free games and then lock most of the achievements behind DLC. There are free games that have so much DLC and content that most players aren't able to finish it all and they keep adding more and taking forever to release the DLC for it. There are games that have content that was really more of an update locked behind DLC. Steam's upwards limit for achievements in a game is 5000, so devs can do this for quite a long time.. Want to see an example of an expensive 100%? This one has a few hundred dollars worth of DLC and is still releasing more. To actually get the 100% as it stands now you're looking at a good 1000+ hours here. https://store.steampowered.com/app/351030/Pixel_Puzzles_Ultimate_Jigsaw/ So for all that people say Sony doesn't care much about the trophy system, they actually do maintain some integrity. Games like this won't ever see the light of day on consoles and be glad for it. There may be some easy plats, but Sony does make sure that a dev can't include 5000 trophies that can be unlocked in a few hours and a ton of DLC packs that add trophies faster than players can earn them. It doesn't prevent every possible crappy practice from devs, but it definitely helps a lot to be fair towards players who enjoy getting that plat/100%
Popular Post JayDeLosDioses
I’ve reached a point in this challenge ... where I’m realizing the mistake I’ve made. I’ve played anything interesting already and only have the tedious parts left. Which means: Challenges and characters in Borderlands DNA 100% and DLC in Revelations Story and DNA in AC3 So what I’ve learned from my first backlog challenge: Leave at least one game you’re interested until you reach the boring part in other games to play something else if bored/annoyed Looking forward to the spring challenge
Popular Post Litha
Update #13: Swaps used: 5/5 Drops used: 2/2 Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4) - 0% 62% [51/74] LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (PS4) - 100% [46/46] Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS4) - 100% [75/75] Slayaway Camp (PS4) - 100% [51/51] Sound Shapes (PS4) - 1% 27% [23/89] Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (PS4) - 1% 51% [26/39] Dark Souls: Remastered (PS4) - 0% 5% [4/41] God of War (PS3) - 0% [0/36] LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 - 0% [0/76] LEGO Marvel's Avengers (PS4) - 0% [0/71] Cat Quest (PS4) - 0% [0/23] What Remains of Edith Finch (PS4) - 0% [0/9] The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) - 0% [0/50] Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (PS4) - 0% [0/15] Horizon Chase Turbo (PS4) - 0% [0/38] Dragon Age: Origins (PS3) - 0% [0/77] Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS4) - 0% [0/54] LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (PS3) - 0% [0/49] I mopped up the platinum for Spider-Man so I figured I'd drop in again. The game is still just as fun the fourth time through as the first, and I don't quite know what to put that down to. Still a few wacky glitches here and there but that just adds to the charm of it. I did go back to the F.E.A.S.T. shelter this time, which I hadn't done previously, and I did find some unique interaction/conversations that I missed last time (some closure for Gloria and the two playing chess, among others). Some very nice details that rewards (I guess?) exploration after the campaign. I imagine I'll finish up Jak and Daxter next as I don't have long to go on that; I should have it done by the end of the month. Through February I'll try and finish up Spider-Man's DLC (I'm a little burned out currently) and get Edith Finch, Hellblade and Cat Quest done. From there it'll be a case of sorting out what 'm going to carry over to the Spring Challenge and what I'm going to drop for now. I'll definitely put together a smaller list next time. Have a nice night.
Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
Hey can you all hear that? yes, that's right! it's the sound of Friday! I hope everyone survived the week intact. I'm so close to the platinum for Pillars of Eternity now and spent the week managing to get all trophies bar one - which is to play the game killing only fewer than 175 enemies - then i'm done. Even with high stealth and skills to get me out of fights with conversation options it can be a bit of a pain. I should have this just in time for Pillars of Eternity 2 next week. If i finish Pillars earlier than expected this weekend and have time outside of real life stuff, i might give Subnautica a shot which i've been meaning to play for ages now. So many games seem to be getting pushed at the moment and it looks like it's happened. And it looks like Moons of Madness on my list is now part of those pushed games. Rather than sub it, i'll just keep it here and move it over into the Spring challenge instead. Half of me is totally okay with these games getting pushed so the devs can iron out more bugs and polish the product even more, but the other half of me has this reaction: Spoiler As a side note, that .gif has also been my most used reaction at work this week. I cannot -wait- for the weekend. Looking forward to reading everyones weekend updates Edited January 24, 2020 by Crispy_Oglop
