Popular Post bud-arc
I'm kind of obsessed with FMV games and wanted to put together a master list of all the ones available on PS4. Obviously the ones Erica resemble most are Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (on Netflix), Hidden Agenda and Late Shift. Here are all the other ones I could think of that are available right now (feel free to chime in if I missed any). Wales Interactive: The Bunker Late Shift The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker The Shapeshifting Detective Headspun Simulacra Maid of Sker The Complex Five Dates I Saw Black Clouds Night Book Bloodshore Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus? Ten Dates Mia and the Dragon Princess The Isle Tide Hotel Deathtrap Dungeon: The Golden Room (upcoming) Gamer Girl (cancelled) Digital Pictures (Sega CD Remastered): Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition Double Switch: 25th Anniversary Edition Corpse Killer: 25th Anniversary Edition Ground Zero Texas: Nuclear Edition Kids on Site: Hard Hat Edition Others: The 7th Guest VR (PSVR2) Afterlife (PSVR; no trophies) American Hero Case Files: The Death of Paulette Williams The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story Closed Nightmare (JP/AS region only) Criminal Expert Dark Nights with Poe and Munro Death Come True Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins The Gallery Motesolo: No Girlfriend Since Birth (PS5) Murderous Muses Not for Broadcast Restless Spirit (PSVR; no trophies) She Sees Red Telling Lies Transference (also on PSVR) Truth Underdog Detective (PS5) Vegas Tales Kimulator's Films (very low budget, not recommended) I'm in Love with Your Dead Grandmother John Fart: Text-iverse of Crazyness There is a Genie in my Szechuan Sauce (Remastered) "Buy the Game, I Have a Gun" -Sheesh-Man Noah Smalljohnson's Puzzle Game Potato Sack Racing Simulator 2024 Miscellaneous: 428: Shibuya Scramble (visual novel) Alan Wake 2 (some sequences) Armikrog (stop-motion sequences) Crossing Souls (animated cut-scenes) Dragon's Lair Trilogy (full-motion animation) Hidden Agenda (PlayLink game) Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (some sequences) The Pizza Delivery Boy Who Saved the World (visual novel) Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier (motion capture) The Quiet Man (hybrid-FMV game) Root Letter: Last Answer (visual novel) Steins;Gate Elite (anime sequences) Just for completist's sake, I'll also mention Dragon's Lair Trilogy/Space Ace and Crossing Souls (edit: added above), which have full-motion animated sequences in them. Then of course there are games from Telltale, Quantic Dream, Supermassive, Remedy and Dontnod which resemble movies, but aren't FMV. I know there are a lot for PC that I never played (Her Story, Contradiction, She Sees Red, Telling Lies) which I hope get ported for PS4 some day. Also, I hope they remaster more of the old ones; I really loved games like the Tex Murphy series, The 7th Guest/The 11th Hour, Phantasmagoria 1&2, Psychic Detective and The X-Files Game back in the day (animated ones like The Neverhood and Toonstruck would be cool, too). Besides Bandersnatch, Netflix is also developing other choose-your-own-adventure "games" like Bear Grylls' You vs. Wild and an interactive episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Any other glaring omissions on this list? Edited January 2 by bud-arc Updated for 2024

Sifferino
I have nothing to add to the list right now, just wanted to say THANK YOU! I really enjoy these kind of games so I’ll definitely follow this thread with interest.

Evil_Joker88
I really liked Late Shift and Hidden Agenda. The Bunker didn't impress me much. I am excited for Erica. Hopefully more games like Her Story come to PS4 I'll check out the other titles mentioned... I too say thank you for starting this list @bud-arc

TerminusCross
Oh hey I liked Corpse Killer. It's cheesy and has zombies, which is always a plus for me. Not really anything like Erica though, when it comes to gameplay. Edited August 29, 2019 by TerminusCross

I played the demo for 428 and it was pretty interesting, although going back and forth and altering timelines got really confusing quickly. I can only imagine how complicated the full game must be, but I'll check it out next time it's discounted. I just noticed there is a new PS4 visual novel game (a remake of an old one) with live-action elements called Root Letter: Last Answer that released this week. Not sure if it contains any FMV sequences or just still images, but adding it to the thread for posterity. On PSNProfiles, it's stylized as "√Letter: Last Answer" https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/9303-letter-last-answer
djb5f
Here is an article with recommended FMV games. Each one has a trailer which is nice in that you can get an idea of the acting and atmosphere. https://www.gamespew.com/2019/08/best-fmv-games/ A couple are PC only but most are PS4 (several discussed in this thread).

Eispan
Gamer Girl from Wales Interactive Ltd. got cancelled... now that's a missing piece for the W.I. set. Twitter and YouTube reviews killed the game apparently.

Not sure how many people still check this thread, but I've added a few more to the list: Five Dates, Telling Lies, Dark Nights with Po and Munro, Death Come True, Night Book and Ground Zero: Texas (Remastered). Deathtrap Dungeon: The Golden Room is still forthcoming. Edit: Bloodshore was also just announced. Edited September 16, 2021 by bud-arc
Breakingthegreen
Steins;Gate Elite I believe also technically falls into this category, the visual novel replaces its original artwork with animated scenes from the anime series.

The actress in that game was actually the producer so I kinda feel sorry for her that her investment hasn't got any return as of now. She was said to have consulted other girl-gamer streamers for this project and incorporated their inputs. It's such a shame really. Quote Dark Nights with Po and Munro, Death Come True, Night Book and Ground Zero: Texas (Remastered). Deathtrap Dungeon: The Golden Room is still forthcoming. Bloodshore was also just announced. Wow didn't know about Dark Nights, included it in my list now. Death Come True doesn't have a plat and I was hoping to stack this along side Shibuya Scramble, it's now grouped along side games with no plats. GZ: Texas as well as Double Switch has been noted. Deathtrap Dungeon looks good. Wales Interactive have come a very long way since Late Shift with the FMV stuff. I'd probably stack this with forthcoming WI games. Thanks for the heads up! Awesome! Kinda in the same sub-genre only that indeed they are anime. The Steins Gate stacks and sequels can all be grouped together with Root Letter and some other JP VNs from Aksys. Knew about most of those and the ones I didn’t (Death Come True and Ground Zero: Texas) look horrifyingly cringe from the trailers. Guess I will mainly stick with Wales for these FMV games.
