Elliot
If I need something out of it, like charging a controller, keeping a download / upload going, I'll leave it on Standby. Otherwise, there's not much point, and I'll just turn it off and save the extra trickle of electricity.
BigPete7978
Most of the time I just turn off the system, but sometimes on the weekends I'll leave the PS4 in standby mode.
Qhaotic Rebellion
I turn it off... I got enough devices with lights on next to my bed already...
tofu341
Unless I'm charging my controller or downloading something, I like to keep it turned off.
BigPete7978
Unless I'm charging my controller or downloading something, I like to keep it turned off.I purchased the controller dock to charge two controllers at the time. It's one of the best charging docks I've seen. Well worth it for PS4 owners IMO.
skinner49
Completely off. When I mean completely off, I mean like PS4 off and the surge protector it's on is off as well.
Revvie
I'll "off" my PS4 if I'm done playing. I'll "standby" my PS4 if I'm downloading a game.
sixones
I leave mine in standby so it can auto download updates for my next play session and charge my controller. If anyone is interested, the cost for leaving it on standby and charging a controller is roughly £5 a year (depending on your supplier), and uses an average of 14 watts (measured over 18 hours). Not sure if anything downloaded during this, so it will no doubt increase the cost when it does.
xlIlIIlIIIlIlIlx
Standy-by mainly for charging of controller and px4's . Off if as people stated above (24 hour or longer of no play)

richtayls
I'm impressed at how if it's switched off then the moment you turn it on it starts downloading any updates, so if your internet is fast enough there is no real benefit of putting it in standby. ShadowGandalf
I only put it on standby if i'm going to be away for only a few hours. All other times, I switch off.
reversj
I always leave it on standby.
Wojo77
Always on Standby. It's always updated, controllers r always charged and I can buy and download stuff from my iPad/iPhone and have it installed and ready to go when I get home. It's a Win-Win to me! HeartUnderBlade
I leave it on standby if I know I'll be back soon, but since I don't have to much time (at last the time I want) its always off, and it stays like that most of the week... theitdemon
I will always switch it off when I get one. Occasionally I will leave it on standby when I need to charge the controller but I won't do that often. Only when the controller is about to die. It is a bad idea to keep it permanently on charge. Doing so gradually reduces the capacity of the battery (the same is true for all batteries) so over time, you will end up charging it more and more often. Ryumoau
i turn mines completely off. i still live with my parents and don't want to waste anymore power than i need to, considering they only make me pay for internet. Besides i don't mind downloading an update when i turn the ps4 on.
Spectro88900
Yeah, as some people have said.In the day, I put it on Standby if I am having a break and know I'll be going on later. And when it's in the night and I'm heading up soon, I turn it off. Edited December 27, 2013 by yhonk889

DEMON
I turn mines off completely, whenever I'm not in my room or if there is an electronic not in use, it's usually unplugged.
