I leave mine in standby so it can auto download updates for my next play session and charge my controller.

 

If anyone is interested, the cost for leaving it on standby and charging a controller is roughly £5 a year (depending on your supplier), and uses an average of 14 watts (measured over 18 hours). Not sure if anything downloaded during this, so it will no doubt increase the cost when it does.

I will always switch it off when I get one.

Occasionally I will leave it on standby when I need to charge the controller but I won't do that often. Only when the controller is about to die. It is a bad idea to keep it permanently on charge. Doing so gradually reduces the capacity of the battery (the same is true for all batteries) so over time, you will end up charging it more and more often.
