Completed game number 8 for the event, WipEout Omega Collection!



Had this one on the ol' backlog for a while, and it was great to finally get to it. I actually wasn't confident in my ability back when I bought the age about a year ago or so, but doing Trackmania Turbo gave me a great boost of confidence in the genre. Kinda odd since racing games have always been a big part of my gaming growing up. I believe one of the first games I ever played was Colin McRae Rally back on the PS1, but I digress! ?

WipEout Omega Collection is a bundle of two former WipEout games: HD (and it's DLC counterpart Fury) alongside 2048, released initially on the PS3 and Vita respectively. On the campaign menu, you start off with 2048, and you've got a plethora of events, ranging from combat events where the goal is to get a certain number of points by using weapons. You've got mines and bombs to hinder opponents behind you, alongside shootable weapons such as the missile, rockets, plasma beam, alongside leech beams. Some track, some give you back health, or you can press the Circle button to regain health and ensure you don't get eliminated. Eliminations can be bad since leave you behind from the main pack, meaning less points!

You've also got the Speed Laps and Time Trials which are generally the same thing, as they both test how fast you can complete each track. The main difference here is that time trials are generally multi lap sprints, whereas a Speed Lap generally gives you 7 laps to set a single good one. You've also got the Zones, which have pretty hypnotic and on the other hand, agonizing visuals ? But they're a load of fun! You start off with the first numbered Zone, and you gradually increase every 10 seconds or so, slowly speeding up. Every certain group of Zones has a particular coloured theme to it, and it gradually changes with more colour schemes. Essentially here, the goal is to survive a certain number of zones whilst keeping your vehicle's health intact by not hitting walls or falling off-track. It can be pretty hectic, but I think that makes these Zone missions a ton of fun. I actually liked 2048 quite a lot!

HD and Fury also have these events, although their tracks are generally pretty linear. Granted, 2048's shortcuts weren't major, but it did help diversify the options available to you. With HD and Fury, you're more or less on a single path, and as such, their Zone missions are actually quite easy (also since their Gold Medal requirements see you do less zones than 2048 demands). Despite this, HD does have some pretty great tracks like Anulpha Pass, which actually has it's own secondary path. You can even jump off onto the main left path to gain extra speed with a well-timed barrel roll (which provides a landing boost) onto a boost pad, which is the strategy I used to beat Zico. I don't know if it's for my love of time trial based challenges, but Zico was the first thing I tackled in the game! It was great to have @Destructor-8 give some tips on the game's controls. On that note, he also gave great advice on which vehicles would be best for each game too! Thanks. ? I got pretty frustrated with Fury since I just wanted that juicy platinum, so apologies for making you sit through that! ? I will admit though, Fury's detonator events were a highlight of the overall collection, I loved those ones.

In any case, I'm really confident I'll have my tier done. I've done all the hardest games of my 10, so from here it should be a bit more smooth! I reckon Little Nightmares will be my next one, and I'll end it with Thumper. It's really close now!

Also @Copanele, I initially voted for the first two questions, but ever since the third one regarding bounties was added, I've been unable to actually select any option for it. ? I assume this is just some sort of bug with the way the forums work since a few others on the previous page have noted this too. In any case, I'll vote for the Hybrid option if that's all good!

This is a platform game settled in a fixed arena where your goal is to kill as many aliens as you can by throwing stuff. The game itself has very simple controls and there is no story mode, all you do is play and become better over time.

This game reminds me those obscure difficult games on ps3 with simple controls and hard trophies due to the simplicity of the game itself so this was pretty fun both to play and to inevitably improve over time.

The trophy list is difficult due to a trophy which requires to collect 1000 pennies (aka 10$) in a single run, these are dropped by enemies upon their death and it's a pretty high amount to get in a single run which lasts about 20min and you only have 3 lifes. As the time passes/your score improves, stuff spawns faster and faster, and the eggs where the aliens are coming from will hatch faster and faster, eventually the run becomes a bit chaotic where you need to be quite fast with your fingers at throwing things away while following a strategy that you may need to change immediately if the spawns require so, and ultimately be wise about which pennies it is relatively safe to collect and the ones should be avoided. I think that if you can score 6$ you definitely can reach 10$ if you keep trying, because I felt like after 4$ the speed didn't improve anymore. Once you git gud enough, you will need a decent luck since a terrible spawn can easily end your run.

Someone said the latest patch, which adds a sort of new mode, makes the game a bit easier, personally I disagree as I found that mode to be harder due to way more enemies.

After quite some time I'm back with another update.

 

I finished Crash Bandicoot 4: It's about time and will therefore swap out Super Time Force Ultra in favor of Crash.

With Crash finished I'm finally done with Tier 1.

 

The game was pretty awesome. It took a whole lot longer than any of the games from N. Sane trilogy, probably took even longer than all 3 remakes combined.

While N. Sanely Perfect relics, Platinum time trial relics etc. provided a challenge at times it was certainly easier than I anticipated.

 

I don't have a Tier 2 list ready yet, will post one as soon as I come up with one. :-)

This is a 2d platform where you play through 16 short chapters while jumping and killing stuff with shurikens.

For this game, the faster you press the shoot button, the higher your shooting ratio, therefore I played the game entirely with my turbo controller due to my lack of speed in smashing a button rapidly. This surely helped and reduced the difficulty quite much for me, therefore my experience and opinion can easily be different from the others.

I found the trophy list not too hard, it's all about learning the levels but it's not that crucial to master them, even during the hardest runs I was still unsure about pretty much all the levels and some of the enemies' locations.

You have to play 3 times the story for the 3 different endings, each level has a sort of badge for clearing them, 4 in total each asking a no damage, get all coins, kill everything and speedrun and you need them all for each level although can be done one at time so it's not too bad. There is a boss rush mode requiring a gold medal which is essentially speedrunning it, but with the turbo this was a joke to do. Final thing is in Hardcore mode, but this mode can be considered identical to Normal since the differences are pretty much irrilevant, here however there are the 3 hardest trophies which require 3 type of runs:

 

• final score of 17,500 which is A LOT. You have to get like 99% of the coins and kill 99% of the enemies, as well as be fast in order to get a good clear time for each level, I managed to get the required score only thanks to the last time clear bonus
• no death run. This wasn't too hard but it can be stressful. An average run takes like 35 minutes, there are plenty of instant-kill spots and some enemies have a horrible location
• speedrun. This is the hardest trophy which requires a run in less than 25min. Some people say this is close to the world record, but I disagree since the WR runs include the loading times between each level while the timer for the trophy stops during that moment, my recorded run says 31min (28min realistically due to 3min spent after getting the trophy), and the final time in my stats is slightly above 24min. So there is something like 5min of difference from the WR which is think is at like 23min (and since there is no exploit/trick to move your character slightly faster, it's quite some available time you have). I will keep the recorded run private though (just as evidence if ever needed), as I think it is quite bad and not worth an upload, all in all I was still practicing when i got the trophy

The servers will be closing in 3 months, plenty of time to get the game done if you want some easy URs, just have in mind that it takes close to 50 hours to get everything done.

As for progress...

 

 

Ended up starting Pachi Para 15 instead of getting to my backlog because apparently I can't get enough of RNG. Annoying part is that I actually have to monitor it pretty often for the CPU battle portion since sessions there range from 10 to 30 minutes, so it'll be a bit before I can move this to my boosting PS3 to free up the monitor for actual backlog things (and also my main PS3 for, well, PES).

 

On the bright side, the block grind on Super Bomberman R is finally fucking done, so plat shouldn't be too far behind there. Just need two more runs of story and like a couple days or so of grinding bombs in one of the story levels (thank God for the trick with Magnet Bomber or that'd be like another month or so of this shit ). Also frees up my two PS4/PS3 turbo controllers (granted, one of them will see a couple more days of use at some point), which is neat since I've been having to rely on my PS3-only fightpad that requires me to actually rubberband the button to turbo.

Well, I never actually signed up for this challenge but I appreciate the spirit of UR hunting so I wanted to post this (in September I had said I wouldn't have it done by the end of the year and just look at me now):

 

 

I only got five UR plats this year at a rate of about one every other month. That technically implies I might find myself getting at least one more by year's end but I'd had Nuclear Throne on my mind for years. Shoutout to @Joe Dubz for being my confidant and helping me stay stable during the process; there were ups and downs and he was always willing to offer his support

Oh boy, what a ride this was, I've given up so many times but it's finally over...

 

I'm not a fan of racing games, but there's something in Trackmania that really gets my attention, the speedrun aspect of the game, the fact that tracks are short and that you can retry so quickly made the series my favorite among racing games. The difficulty is well known, there are 200 tracks in total and you have to get gold on all of them, the tracks are separated in 5 series (White, Green, Blue, Red and Black) and 4 environments (Canyon, Valley, Lagoon and Stadium). Stadium was my favorite environment by far, followed by Lagoon and Valley, Canyon can be deleted from the game and I wouldn't bother. Things starts to get harder on Red series and gets absolutely insane on Black series.

 

Honestly, I was surprised to see that I had finished the game with less than 100 hours played and I was also surpised that 5 hours was the longer that I got stuck on a track (170 and those stupid loops at the end). The game isn't perfect, but it was a good balance between stress and fun, 100% would recommend.

Unturned EU stack, GOT SLOWEST ACHIEVER, while my boost partner got fastest achiever. PERFECTLY BALANCED, AS ALL THINGS SHOULD BE,

Plat can be done while USING CHEATS, infinite ammo, spawning random shit. Basically Minecraft creative mode minus the flying.
3/10, 10-15 hours.
20 minute boost with 1 other person for the -200 and +200 reputation. Everything else is 1/10, with the quest storyline having a few 3/10 parts, EVERYTHING EXCEPT REPUTATION CAN BE DONE IN SINGLEPLAYER, servers tend to crash a lot so avoid playing for trophies on them.
1000 kills can be done by using a weapon with explosive bullets and shooting in the ground under your legs for 2-3 hours.
I have been playing Unturned occasionally since 2014 when it launched in early access on Steam. Even though its free 2 play on PC, here it costs 25 euros.
I would recommend waiting for a sale and getting a free Sub1 ( under 1 %) platinum, and 20 Ultra Rares.

EDIT: Such low percentage is due to trophies that used to be unobtainable ,but developers fixed the glitched trophies few months back. People havent noticed yet.

Got done the Expert story run and I'm at World 3 of my Veteran run. Taking a break to do the 1M bomb grind since World 3 is where the trick for it is anyway. Should hopefully be done in a day or two so I can burn through the rest of Veteran before the weekend is over and finally claim my platinum.

Overall, fairly easy plat with the caveat of a month-long turbo grind for the blocks and a considerably shorter grind for bombs (was not expecting it to be done after just a few hours of sleep). Actual playing part takes maybe 15-20 hours between the three story runs, 100 online rooms created, and some gem grinding for unlocking the Dastardly Bombers post-story (25000 gems) and, to a lesser extent, grinding the gems needed to effectively get infinite continues for your Veteran and Expert runs (8400 for Expert, 4200 for Veteran, 12600 overall).

 

As for the game itself, it's fine enough. The cutscenes are cute if nothing else, though the bosses honestly kinda suck, especially on Expert where they felt like they take an eternity to kill, particularly in Worlds 4 and 6. Highly recommend at least grabbing Plasma Bomber after your first run since his Plasma Bombs go off very quickly and can make bosses a lot more tolerable by letting you get more bombs in during vulnerable phases.

 

 

 

Now to just get through PES 2014 (NA) and then decide if I wanna do the EU stack after to get it over with or perhaps switch over to Unturned now that I'm aware of it.
