Whole trophy system needs redesign

With the amount of achievers each trophy is going to be worth 0 points, even for first achievers and their bonus points.

Im not rich I cant get all my games on release day to be a first achiever or have games early to beat others.

That's an awful idea. Not everyone wants to buy games full price on release, some of us like to wait for sales and price drops, that would just exclude people and benefit those who have money to burn. Totally unfair

Even if you were rich, it wouldn't help you much when you'd have to battle all the people that get games weeks before they're released to the people that actually pay for them.

As a true trophy hunter / completionist, I do agree with the trophy system being broken at the moment. But to subtract points from players is not the answer at all. I believe, and this is only my opinion, a couple of real things that would make a difference is the following;

 

Ban auto popping of trophies - Earning an entire trophy list in one second because you cleared the game on PS4 and can now Auto Pop it on PS5 is just well, yeah I am going to say it, its cheating. Inflating your trophy list and position with no effort is really not fair and I personally refuse to do it.

 

Eradicate the entire stacking of games from other regions - Having the same game appear on your trophy list from six different regions, earning you six full trophy lists and points etc, in less than half an hour, well yeah, I am going to say it again, you are cheating.

 

If both of my ideas were implemented, this in itself would dramatically change the way people play games, and the way developers target gamers who are just seeking quick trophy gains.

 

Again I will be refusing to do either of the above to my trophy list, simply out of the hard work and dedication I put into my gaming. I am proud of what I have achieved and will continue to be a "single stacker" as long as I still have a desire to play games and collect trophies.

This is one of the most elitist and useless suggestion I have ever seen, what's next? Platinum should delete themselves from Sony's servers after 100 achievers? Besides not everyone can buy games when they are released, here in Brazil games on release are really expensive, so waiting for a sale is the way to go, but hey it's not your bubble so why care right?

Leave it as is. A very small amount of gamers actually complain or care about the trophy system. Unfortunately most of those whiners are here or on TT.

The only redesign I'd like to see is limiting trophy points based on the game's price. I don't think there were any $5 PSN games with platinums on PS3. Ratalaika and others that offer 11 golds and a plat in 15 minutes really warped the whole trophy system.

But, it's not cheating. Literally, anyone can do it without manipulation. It's very simple to do, and if I want to replay RE2 on PS5 and get an automatic plat out of it, I have to be branded a cheater because it's "not fair" despite everyone having the ability to do it? If anything, that's unfair.

 

I see cheating as something that would give someone a very specific advantage over everyone who plays games as normal or as intended. But in this case, everyone is still on the same playing field. It's not our fault that some people do not want stacks or autopops.

 

HOWEVER, I do thing the 2 things you mention are a primary reason why the trophy system itself is unbalanced. It does inflate numbers drastically and personally wish we could have no autopops or stacks on a separate leaderboard, but again, I don't think it's equivalent to cheating. Just a fundamental flaw that's been exploited by some devs (and others unintentionally).

 

I do think this thread is a bit trollish and baity, but everyone seems to be responding respectably for the most part so I'll leave it open for now.

That won't work since I've seen many AAA games on sale go as far as 85% off during a sale (I know because that's when I usually end up buying them)

So bloodborne, gta v, and the God of war games deserve lower points than some random guess the Spain quiz silver edition because more people have those platinums than the random garbage? I'm sorry I just don't see a good way this would work, it would only discredit the effort put into more popular games

If your plan was to stir up a controversial take then congratulations, you definitely got the ball rolling. With that being said, I think the trophy system is fine the way it is. If you wanna redesign the trophy system maybe come up with a better idea rather than making it worse than it already is.
