Tiny progress with Minecraft Dungeons (I will be slowly working towards finishing the main game + getting into DLCs) and with Cat Quest II (doing Co-Op with GF and she's busy atm, so It'll take a while). Meanwhile, I cleaned up a couple of games off the Summer Backlog Challenge but managed to finish the first Cat Quest in a single day. The first entry isn't Co-Op, so I've had to do this one myself ? It's been a fun and quick hack-n-slash game and I'll give it a solid recommendation. There isn't much variation in enemies or in dungeon layouts, nor the story or sidequests are anything otherworldly, but the gameplay loop is fun. If you can grab it for around 5 bucks (it's discounted every month or two), it's a very solid pickup. Guide estimates it at 12 hours but I would've finished in between 4-5 hours if I didn't get distracted watching the Xbox Showcase.

 

I'll probably be adding some more games as I'd like to go through all Final Fantasy games on my backlog after wrapping up XVI in a couple of weeks. Good luck everyone!

Played a lot of Assassin`s Creed: Origins over the last week. I try to complete every location to 100% before moving to the next to avoid the post story gind as much as possible, so my story progression isn`t the fastest (I think I`m halfway through the story).

I also started Valkyrie Elysium and realized that it got DLC, which requieres a third playthrough, as the difficult trophies dosen`t stack. At least the DLC was free. I have finished the first chapter and so far, it is fun.

I'll play something other than Diablo at some point, but uh, not quite yet.  I've got Humanity and Scarlet Nexus in the same folder with it on my PS4, but haven't even considered firing them up. I have hit the point where trophy progress is going to slow way down in D4 though. Maybe that will get me to play something else while still killing demons. We'll see.

My left eye is feeling rather gunky right now and is all bloodshot from excessive abuse so it is hard to concentrate on looking at things. I'm due to visit the doctor tomorrow so I might ask her about a good eyedrop that will clear up my red-eye.

 

In the meantime, I finally got started on the third Pixel Remaster.  Just got to the three way scenario part. Gonna go a bit slower with this one as I have to start planning my routes with the last two games. I'll probably finish FFVI this month and then move on to World of Final Fantasy.

Afternoon all, so, just shy of a couple of weeks into the challenge, I thought I would post my first update. Progress made on just one game so far (Skyrim). Unfortunately despite best efforts, I did not enter the month with a clean slate and was slightly preoccupied with finishing Multiversus as well as continuing with Friday 13th (the grind is real with that one!) as well as a bit of Fall Guys!

 

Making my first swap with Powerwash being replaced, partially due to the fact I will play coop with a friend most likely outside of the challenge window but also because I never realised how many big games I've committed to trying to finish! Therefore Toem has been traded in.

Not too much challenge progress this week, since I finished off the rest of MGS1 on the PS1 then spent the weekend with my SO before getting back home. Love the start of MGS2 so far, and kinda tempted to make it my 100th platinum, butttt Yakuza 0 is amazing so that's a tough call to make I think! I'll be carrying on with this one when I see @rjkclarke next, as he's been enjoying watching me play the MGS games for the first time. Loving them so far, and even though I'm super late to the party with this one, I'm enjoying them so much.

 

I've been boosting some Battlefield 3 outside the challenge for my last online trophy which is to get to level 45 in the multiplayer, I hit 35 tonight but it's grindy and incredibly boring. The rest of the game is just single player campaign on hard mode with misc trophies, and I've started it already so I'm actually looking forward to going back to that. Also started to pick up some medals and do some feats in Resogun. Need to decide what game to start next for the backlog challenge, it's probably going to be Monkey Island I think.

I just got to the Veldt in FFVI, and I recalled the one thing I liked about this game: Collecting what my gym trainer's happy accidentally-conceived daughter would call "creature-monsters." AKA the Rages for Gau.

 

Yes, the chances of getting 100% Rages are next to impossible due to how RNG the monster spawns are. I still haven't found any of the Phantom Train enemies like the mini-boss Apparition, but I did get the Master of the Wild trophy. Didn't help that the Satellite that spawns tends to spam Berserk on my characters so they accidentally go first when Gau arrives and whack him, chasing him off.

 

Also, while the guide says you can't get the Heavy Armory entry in Locke's scenario, you can get it in the Veldt if you have Locke engage a Heavy Armor and flee the battle as it'll be added to the Veldt pool.

Also, while Kefka still has his evil 16-bit laughing face, at least his head is more proportioned so he doesn't look like MODOK as he did in the original FF3USA.

 

I might start a new account - don't fry me, everyone - just to make a complete trophy cabinet of RPGs and the Pixel Remasters would be my first platinums in that account just because they are so awesome. (The 4x EXP and 4x Gil doesn't hurt either. )

 

In other news, I finally booted up World of Final Fantasy on my PS5 and managed to get to Nether Nebula. Not quite to where I left my last save file(just before the boss fight in Pyreglow) but I'm getting there and I even made a illustrated checklist of every chest so I wouldn't miss any. I'll try to boot up FFXII(also on my PS5, I downloaded both games on that sytem) and start working on recovering my progress there. 4x Speed should help me a bit in that regard.

Hopefully by this time next week I am going to be able to report about being close to the 100%

First day and first one down. I figured I'd quickly finish off LiS: Before the Storm. I actually enjoyed it much more than the original LiS. I feel like it was better written and felt more real.

Small update since the last time. I have started progress on Phoenix Wright (I actually have 1 more trophy than is showing on PSNP, not sure why it's not updating to include it). 

 

As for P4G, if anyone has any tips on how to level up easier. I got to Shadow Kanji at lvl 18 and got wiped, looked it up and found out he's like lvl 24. I tried leveling up on Floor 10 of his castle but I keep getting one shotted. Is the best method just to go through the whole castle again from the bottom?

It's been a while since I played it, but I remember the early dungeons being quite challenging for me. I was playing on normal. What difficulty do you currently have it set on? And how many days do you have left to complete the dungeon? If you have enough time until the deadline, it's a good idea to go back to the earlier floors and grind some more, just be careful that the reaper doesn't show up if you're opening chests?. You could probably grind to about lvl 21-22 and then take on Kanji. Also if you've unlocked persona fusion in the velvet room you could try getting a stronger persona on your team

UPDATE #3

 

Again, just a mild progress report. Havent had the time. Exams are this month, and god they are stessful. And I have been completing Fifa 18 and Just Cause 3's trophies. which both had too may trophies unlocked to be on the list. 

 

I will start Life is Strange 2 this week, hopefully complete it too, and I'll try to get more into Titanfall 2. After that, i play GOT! So excited!

 

Finished the main campaign in Horizon Chase Turbo, now all i need to do is endurance and master diffuculty tournaments. Doing so will unlock me almost all other trophies naturally.

I was in the exact same boat on my first playthrough, I considered it in Yukiko's dungeon and Kanji's ?. But by the time I got to Kanji's dungeon I'd invested too much time and didn't want to start again. Stick with it at this difficulty, plus I think it makes the Hardcore Risette Fan trophy easier to obtain playing on a higher difficulty - this is a troublesome trophy for most people

What's goin on, all you beautiful challenge killers?

 

Another mixed update, I'm afraid. Final Fantasy IX is still in that stage where things are being set up - trying to make sure I'm on top of everything, be it beating people at cards, catching frogs, digging up Chocographs, finding the friendly enemies, pop quizzes, and unique items (well EVERY item, really), or keeping track of the ATEs. It's easy to forget how much there is to do in this game!

 

However, it is pleasant to be reminded of what a great experience IX is, even with all of that going on. Square really was on a roll at this point, and Uematsu in particular was at the peak of his powers, the music here is so good. There's even stuff I forgot that I loved, like Kuja's Theme - how does someone just rattle off piano compositions like that?? "Oh look, another darkly beautiful masterpiece, whaddayaknow.."

 

Trek to Yomi was pretty dope, and what most reviewers have been asserting, a phenomenal looking and sounding game with mediocre gameplay. A shame, because this thing looks and sounds really, really good. I feel this is mandatory gaming for any film nerd, as it just nail the entire feel of those 50s and 60s Samurai flicks, while still adding its own clever element. The gameplay is clearly under developed, and often pretty frustrating, but I think the good parts are just too good to go without!

 

I'm adding NBA 2K23 simply because it's been a mad heavy distraction, I'll likely swap it out but there's a chance I can finish it over the Summer. The grind truly is what everyone said it would be, and I ain't even in that deep yet?

Week 2 - Would you love a Monster Man? - Lordi

 

Had some good progress despite being lured constantly into Diablo 4, I am Hesitant though to drop it into this challenge given I feel FFXVI is going to be a bigger time vampire but we shall see.

Monster Boy is done and dusted and some of those hidden chests can go straight to Hell (as previously stated, I have the Big Dumb). 

Next up, I had to restart Stick it to the Man cause I have no memory of this place.

If any game makes me quit trophy hunting and go back to Pokemon shiny hunting, its Final Fantasy VI with its surprise trophy of Master Gambler. You have to get lucky 7s on Slots for my least favorite character, Setzer. I am so tempted to platinum Kingdom Hearts II just to beat up his ugly face!

 

Who the f'k thought it was a good trophy to get 7-7-7. You can't pause buffer because the pause menu covers the slots and I suck at timing. And no, auto-battling fails because every time you should get 7-7-7, the game just trolls you wth 7-7-BAR and Game Overs with Joker's Death.

 

I hate this game. ?

 

Yes, I am at the part where I got Setzer and now have to go to the Sealed Cave, but I might just delete this game instead. Sorry, it's just frustrating. I guess the bright side is that Master Gambler will be the last trophy I get if I ignore Slots and just go finish everything.

Sounds about as enjoyable as the Hail to the King trophy from FFIX.

Week 2 Update, A little late for this update but I didn't want to post an update until I could finally say, I am done with Fallout 4 and all of it's dlc!  Definitely the most time consuming game on the list but managed to speed through pretty quickly as I've played it way long ago on PC so I could skip a ton of dialogue.  I didn't really do anything else from my list as I know if I jumped around too much with Fallout I knew I'd never finish it otherwise.  But thats all for my quick Week 2 check in, back to the grind of breaking down the backlog!!!
