StrickenBiged
Great suggestions. Just realised I still listen to the same music I did when I was at high school, over a decade ago, and realised I have officially become my father...
Dr_Mayus
Well some nirvana never hurts (I actually like Nirvana, but I also really like this movie ). As for some bands, Parker mentioned a bunch of great bands. Some other great bands would be things like Nine Inch Nails, Rush, U2, The Arcade Fire, Gogol Bordello
damon8r351
Country bands. I lean toward what's called Alt country, because what people call country coming out of Nashville is legitimate crap. Some of its more roots rock, some of its more cowpunk, some of its contemporary bluegrass. Avett Brothers Blue Mountain The Bottle Rockets Cross Canadian Ragweed Deadstring Brothers Deer Tick The Dexateens Don Chambers Drag The River Drive-by Truckers Freakwater The Gourds Gram Parsons Jason & The Scorchers Jason Isbell The Jayhawks Lucinda Williams Meat Puppets Lone Justice The Meat Purveyors Moonshine Willy Oakley Hall Old 97's Old Crow Medicine Show Patterson Hood Porter Hall Tennessee Neko Case Slobberbone Son Volt Trailer Bride Trampled By Turtles Two Cow Garage Uncle Tupelo Whiskeytown

coldkillaaaaaaaa
Rock: Atoms for Peace, Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, Arcade Fire, King Crimson Metal: Pagans Mind, Stratovarious, Tool, Symphony X, Iced Earth, Country: merl haggert, johnny cash, George Jones I noticed some of the bands you listed as rock and others as metal, and I'm stupid about labels, so I did the recommendations in separate categories for rock and metal. freedom452
Two of the best singers and bands are IMO Eric Church and Brantley Gilbert, Eric Church's band is freaking amazing, listen to the CD called Caught In The Act Live, it's my favorite CD that I've ever listened to. Brantley Gilber is one of my favorite singers/song writers of all time and his band is awesome, it just doesn't get much better than the stuff he puts out.
