Popular Post Carol
#233 Deathloop Into Eternity Collect all other trophies. This was one of the games that made me subscribe to PS Plus Extra and it, indeed, didn’t disappoint. The concept of “Deathloop” is very interesting and original. I enjoyed exploring the different locations at different times of the day, gathering clues, until everything falls into place and you realize what you have to do to kill all your targets in a single loop. Platinum-wise, this game wasn’t hard, but several trophies were annoying, so this platinum hunt ended up taking longer than what I was expecting. The game is also a bit buggy and it would sometimes freeze, but overall “Deathloop” was a good experience.
Popular Post da-Noob123
Dead Space Remake If you never played the original or it has been a long time, I thought it was worth coming back to this game. They fleshed out some side stuff with the few side quests they added which was a nice touch since it forces you to explore a little which means getting random encounters so even when following a guide you will get scared by a random enemy or group of enemies. Having platinumed the original, I followed Optinooby's Impossible guide to start things off then did a revenge tour with the Hand Cannon and level 6 suit. I grinded the 30 kills trophies against the first guardian wall (just let it keep spawning the little tentacles) so I was able to use the foam finger for the whole game which kept that run lighthearted so to speak. Popular Post Mechatronix93
HotWheels Unleashed This was a fun game to play in my down time. Time trials were very challenging until I found out there were very well hidden shortcuts (some probably designed in, some not). For a free game of the month it was very welcomed. Online was okay, but by the end I just used quick play to grind the shortest race for about an hour to clean up the last 2 trophies needed.
Popular Post PotrikBerger
Like a Dragon: Ishin! (PS5) Anticipation - 4/5 Loved Both Judgement and Lost Judgement, and enjoyed most of like a dragon yakuza too. Was really looking forward to getting stuck into a period piece setup with familiar mechanics. Enjoyment - 3/5 The game itself is fantastic, as are most of the side quests and mini games. As usual with these games, the studio packs an immense amount in and I throughly enjoyed almost every aspect of it. BUT, the crafting stuff is so damn boring and there is so damn much of it that by the time I finished I was quite glad to see the back of this one. It’s the most complicated crafting system I’ve experienced in a game for a long time and I can’t find any rational reason as to why it exists other than to solely increase your play hours by forcing you to grind for all sorts of stuff. Other new additions like the battle card systems I really liked and the associated minigame aspect of it, but at the same time they did seem to make you quite over powered and it felt like the game became a bit unbalanced once you unlocked higher tiers of these. On the whole though, great fun to play. Retrospect - 4/5 I think over time the pain of crafting will be dampened. Ultimately what I’ll remember is just how much to do there is Ishin. All of the minigame and other side content were excellent and, aside from cooking 100 meals, I have to say I really enjoyed all of them. Especially the beginner home farm sim, the dancing challenges and the usual gambling games. I liked this better than LAD Yakuza and although I don’t think it reaches the peaks of judgement, it’s definitely been made with the same care and attention.
Popular Post StraightVege
Finally getting around to discussing another two: Platinum Trophy #326 3rd Fastest Achiever (6 hours, 1 minute) Unashamedly inspired by Bloodborne for the most part, Skautfold is a 2.5D action RPG where you're a woman unceremoniously resurrected from the grave in an alternate history 1897, then forced to sign a contract obligating that you hunt down and assassinate a murderous king, who apparently summoned a calamitous fog via unsavory ritual. Unfortunately for you, the target is hiding out somewhere in Berelai Manor, his sprawling Resident Evil style mansion, which also happens to be full of rather unsettling eldritch shenanigans. To complicate matters further, he's protected by four pesky knights, whom you'll need to vanquish first. Luckily, death is merely a minor setback for an undead, blood-sucking "Veimar" such as yourself, so best get to work, unless you want to be indentured to Waltham Industries for eternity. Combat here performs similarly to a beat 'em up, allowing movement into the background/foreground, except with all the trappings of a Soulslike. Our undead protagonist can deliver light or heavy sword attacks, block and parry enemy strikes, or opt to nimbly roll through them, and is also equipped with a pistol for ranged stuns. Of course, these actions are governed by a stamina meter, which you'll need to monitor continually. Various NPCs are hanging around to sell you upgrades for your weapons, stats, and health syringes as well. Can't say I take any significant issue with how any of this functions; it's all adequate, albeit a bit simplistic. There's not a selection of weapons or armor to choose from or anything; you're stuck with the starting gear, and it would've been nice to have some options. I suggest focusing entirely on sword damage upgrades and increasing your syringe count, if you wish to have the easiest time on your murder mission. Like other 2D horror titles such as Lone Survivor and Claire, finding your way around the environment can be pretty confusing. No map is provided either, and I couldn't seem to locate the final two bosses no matter how hard I searched, so I eventually decided to simply consult a fan-made map I found online. Probably could've shaved an hour off the time if I had just followed it to begin with, but the game was enjoyable enough to be worth exploring blind for a while. A consumable item to warp back to the starting room (akin to the homeward bones in Souls) would've been appreciated, as death is currently the only way to accomplish this quickly in Skautfold. Furthermore, some puzzles to diversify the gameplay likely would've been beneficial—what's the point of creating such a cool mansion to explore, when half of the rooms serve no real purpose? They also implemented a sanity mechanic, thus certain actions (such as repeatedly dying) result in gradually losing your marbles, causing additional enemy spawns and strange events to occur. To augment these horror elements, your character can't see particularly well in the murky surroundings without her lantern lit, so you can scrounge fuel for it from fallen foes, alongside ammunition and whatnot. Personally, I never came close to actually running out of fuel, and didn't much see the point of this limitation. I think the developer just really likes Amnesia (that makes two of us), because there's an obvious reference to it in one of the many notes you find strewn about the manor. This lantern plays its part in battles, as well, because by shining it on your ghastly enemies, the timing for gun parries will be revealed by the baddie turning a shade of blue before their attack. Cool, but I didn't find this aspect particularly consequential overall. Undoubtedly the best feature of Shrouded in Sanity, on the other hand, is the ability to play as any of the four knight bosses. This mode unlocks after beating the game once, and radically changes the play experience, since their abilities are quite different. I'd highly recommend choosing Sagarat, the knight who conjures clones of himself which combo for absurd damage. Using him, you can quickly power through two of the necessary playthroughs (for the various endings), as well as the two tricky survival modes. It's very possible to sprint up to a boss before their dialogue finishes and unleash an entire stamina meter's worth of clones, melting them before they even get a chance to move. One thing to keep in mind, though: don't attempt to upgrade your HP when controlling him, as that crashed the game in my case. Beyond some mildly irritating polish issues—like the inability to loot bodies near doors, without passing through the door inadvertently—and my aforementioned difficulties with navigation, it's a fairly compelling little blend of ideas for a few bucks. Hard to complain much, considering this is the first published game of a mostly solo developer, and I had a reasonably fun time slashing my way through the manor. Coincidentally, the dev recently announced that Shrouded in Sanity will be coming to PS5 in the near future, along with other games in the franchise. Perhaps I'm not yet done exploring the world of Skautfold (that name still makes me chuckle for some reason). Big Game Hunter #327 6th Fastest Achiever (5 hours, 46 minutes) From the developers of Slender (surprising) comes one of the most unique games I've played in recent memory. This first-person exploration title puts you in the shoes of an adventurous 1980s archaeologist, who ventures into a fantastical secret valley in search of a mythical artifact known as the "Life Seed," which is supposedly powerful enough to bring about the destruction of Earth. Soon after a brush with death on the canoe journey there, you discover that the US military already attempted to exploit the valley and the Life Seed to manufacture various weapons during World War II (in competition with the Manhattan Project), so you suit up in one of their experimental "L.E.A.F." (Leap Effortlessly through Air Functionality) exoskeletons, allowing you to sprint and jump incredible distances, along with siphoning the very life force out of the local flora and fauna. With this pathfinder suit augmenting your abilities, you're better able to explore the enchanting valley and its seemingly abandoned military facilities to find the Life Seed, learning the dark truth of what happened there 40 years ago in the process. Valley's extremely addictive movement mechanics more than compensate for the fact that it almost feels dated enough to be a PS3 game in most regards. It's graphically underwhelming, has sluggish look controls that never felt good regardless of how I adjusted the sensitivity, features rudimentary FPS combat which contributes little to the experience, and the story is presented in a hokey, imitation BioShock manner. Still, there's no denying the exhilarating, satisfying gameplay flow that occurs when you build momentum and launch yourself hundreds of feet through the air, double-jumping to extend the trip even farther. Over time, you'll locate new upgrades for the suit, letting you swing from bespoke grapple points, run up magnet walls, sprint over the surface of water, and more. The outdoor environments are great fun to traverse, and it's possible to get yourself into some very out of the way places. However, I didn't find most of the interior areas nearly as enjoyable, other than the one that functions similarly to a linear race track, which was very exciting indeed, like a sort of roller coaster. The soundtrack to accompany it is perfect, too. The game also takes quite an interesting approach to punishing deaths, in that the world itself features a kind of health meter, rather than the player. Whenever you take a nasty fall, your L.E.A.F. suit will leech the life energy out of nearby plants and animals to resurrect you, thus you're expected to maintain the health of the valley by reviving them. Unfortunate that this element doesn't actually have much impact, provided you put forth the modicum of effort required to heal some wilted vegetation or fallen creatures following every death; a real sense of risk would've made this idea so much more compelling. Would love to see a game do more with the concept! Yes, they do throw a number of implausible concepts at you out of nowhere and expect you to suspend disbelief, but it certainly won me over by the end, holding my attention throughout. The climactic finale was quite immersive, leaving me feeling uplifted, despite the nearly six hour play session. Always heartening to see the rare game encouraging one to give life, instead of taking it, and I appreciated the overall positive message immensely; can definitely recommend it, despite the many rough edges. I don't think it makes the best first impression, but when you stick with it for a bit, it ends up being a worthwhile experience for sure.

Popular Post Viper
#314 GRID Undisputed Around the Globe indeed. Gotta say, I was kind of impressed with this game from a graphics and gameplay standpoint. Considering no one really talks about it outside of the negativity surrounding it's one major trophy. This game is gorgeous...everything about it just looks top notch. And the cars are responsive and grip the road for a nice smooth driving experience...most of the time. And since I played this on Easy, it was very much just that...there's light rubber banding elements in a sense that I could never pull super far away from the pack nor could I get ahead enough to lap someone unless the AI crashes. But there's almost no difficulty here...which is fine for me. I'm weird that way about racing games...I love to completely dominate without much trouble. I almost role play it like a rookie who came out of nowhere and just stomps everyone by winning every single race. That aside though...I always feel like a game like this needs something more. It's almost strange to me now to play a game where you go into career mode and just....race. That's it, nothing else to it...just race after race. It almost feels purposeless, and I don't get why these games don't have some kind of story tied to them about being a professional driver. There's an opening cut scene that hyped up the GRID World Championships, that has sports news analysts and commentators speaking about it...but that's the extent of it. Just something that acknowledges your victories would be nice. But then there's that trophy I mentioned. Around the Globe. For those that don't know...everything about this trophy list is very straight forward and simple. But then there's this piece of shit. The trophies description is "Drive a total distance equal to the circumference of the Earth". Which means you have to drive a total distance of 24,901 Miles (40,074.3 KM). To put it into perspective...once I finished all the 100+ Career races, I was only at 1500 Miles. So the last 2 weeks or so has been booting up the PS4 Pro (so that I can have my PS5 free to play something else) and letting the game play itself...switching to a new race every 2 and a half hours. It's a good thing I have no life, because if you do this could very clearly take much much longer. Luckily I found this method on TrueAchievements...the game has pretty extensive controller mapping, you can do all kinds of things in it, even test how well you triggers are working. But it has this hidden feature to it where you go through the button binding process for acceleration, where you "Inverse" the input of R2, so this tricks the controller into thinking R2 is pressed down at all times instead of having to rubber band the controller. Now, while this would seem like a simple grind, and it is...there's this weird thing that happens where and random times the car hits the wall and spins out, and because the R2 is bound to always being held down the car tends to go in the wrong direction...which then the game gives a 10 second timer to turn around otherwise it Disqualifies you. So there were quite a lot of failed attempts at this because I'd have my TV switched over the PS5 or the Wii or I wouldn't even be home for a bit letting the game run and I'd switch back to the PS4 only to see it got a DNF at some point. There were times I was sitting here with it running and I catch it while it happened so I had time to turn the car around, but for a game you didn't technically need to play at this point, it could be damned annoying. That trophy aside, the game was mostly enjoyable just unremarkable. As of this post we're getting GRID Legends on PS+ next week, so I'll check that one out sometime knowing it doesn't have an Around the Globe equivalent.

I really liked MK 9 and MK X, but I think that this one has a bigger fun factor due to the custom gear/variation system and variety of towers. I also really like the roster here. Playing as RoboCop is just awesome. Compared to previous titles, there's a lot less grinding required to get the platinum, so I'll be going for it on the PS5 as well. Popular Post auditoreblue
Life is Strange: True Colors(PS4 version with the PS5 version in the next couple of days.) Working my way through my games of interest. I never thought I'd say this about any game, but I think this game should have been just a little longer. While it was good and had decent emotional weight at times, it just seemed like it just needed that one or two additional interactions with people to really get you to care. It was good, but it just seemed like the dramatic punches they threw just didn't quite land for me at least. The "surprise" at the end of chapter 4 didn't surprise me at all. I can't really decide if it is because they telegraphed it or just because I've seen so many movies and tv shows as well as played so many games that it just seemed predictable and I pegged it very early. With all that said, it was still pretty enjoyable. I came away completely obsessed with Steph and I can't be the only one as she got her own DLC. If I had a person like her in real life, I'd be simping hard. Also, the Duckie Dance. I literally shed actual tears and that has never happened to me in any moment in gaming or tv. It might just be that I've experienced more loss in the last 2 years than my previous 30 so it just got me because of that. Anyway, I'd give this a 6/10 and suggest giving it a chance. Obviously it is an easy platinum too.

Popular Post RebelsHeart
Platinum #113 - Dead Island 2 Yes, it's real. And I honestly still can't believe it myself. This game was AMAZING. It's everything I hoped it would be and more! The game has the same vibes the first Dead Island game gave me, which made me really happy. Though it still had some flaws that kinda made the experience a bit less fun. Everything gameplay wise was great. Great skills, great guns, great everything! Graphics are amazing. All the areas weren't too big and fun to explore. The thing I just can't get over is how short the game felt to me. And... the ending. It started great, but the ending felt lackluster to me. Storywise I still think the first game was better. Same for sidequests. This might be expanded on in the upcoming expansions. At least, I hope so. Other than that, I had a great time and was very glad to dive back into the Dead Island universe. It's definitely worth the 8/10

Popular Post StraightVege
JYDGED #328 You may be wondering what the heck a "Jydge" is. Well, besides a stylized spelling of "judge" to add title uniqueness and avoid copyright issues, they're heavily armed cyborg cop units, complete with silly-looking bench wig helmets. Essentially a cross between Judge Dredd and RoboCop, they've been deployed to fight crime in the dystopian Neon City—where criminal activity is at an all-time high—by any means necessary. Thus, "SEND IN THE JYDGE," booms the police chief's corny text-to-speech voice as the game begins. No worries if a few innocent bystanders get caught in the crossfire while you blow away those thugs; just be certain to rescue the VIP hostages, or you'll literally explode as punishment for failure! Furthermore, don't forget to confiscate any valuables you happen across during raids (technically not illegal), since the department always needs additional funds. Strangely, crime only seems to be escalating, despite your efforts... oh well, a Jydge's work is never done, and the biased media will happily do PR for you anyway. The game flirts with critiques of police brutality and corruption in this manner throughout, but it never really goes deeper than a surface level. Jydge simply doesn't take itself all that seriously. Being the prequel to 10tons' previous twin-stick shooter, Neon Chrome (which I once talked about here), Jydge features quite similar top-down blasting action (think cyberpunk Hotline Miami), wherein you clear urban areas of baddies room by room, first choosing from a large collection of equippable cyberware abilities that let you perform feats such as bursting through destructible walls or turning invisible, which provide a number of fun and contrasting ways to tackle the miscreant threat. The main difference is that Jydge has a mission-based structure, as opposed to Neon's roguelite approach; you're meant to replay Jydge's levels repeatedly on the various difficulty settings, all the while completing optional objectives (a common example being "remain unseen") to earn medals which unlock additional cool cyberware powers, and ever more fire modes for your Gavel rifle—an experimental weapon, capable of utilizing a wide variety of ammo types, everything from sniper rounds to electrical bursts. There's also a smattering of well-hidden collectibles, each bestowing persistent stat bonuses and unique effects, which can be switched on/off in a special menu. If only more games implemented collectibles in such a useful way, I might not detest the concept so much. It's an addictive enough formula to make for a couple of enjoyable playthroughs, although the repetition sets in quickly beyond that. I didn't think there were enough changes between difficulties to justify playing every stage a minimum of four times each—in reality, far more, because it's often impossible to complete every objective in one attempt. Opening shortcut doors and eliminating tough named enemies (both permanent) in advance is sometimes necessary for success, not to mention how certain objectives are opposed to each other. Honestly, I was ready to be done with this game by the time I finished the second difficulty (Hardcore), so the remainder felt a bit grindy. Perhaps some added enemy types would've kept things fresher, since the game is rather lacking in that area. A decent shooter experience overall, but I ever so slightly preferred Neon Chrome, although neither game truly has enough content to support their trophy requirements. Popular Post RotatingCube
#136 Sackboy: A Big Adventure (PS5) This is the first Sackboy/LittleBigPlanet game I have played, It reminds me of those more kid-friendly 3D platformers I used to play a lot when I was younger. It's a pretty good one too and is actually somewhat challenging. The trials in particular can take a few tries to get the gold score. Nothing is too bad difficulty-wise especially since the game actually allows other players to carry you if you choose to (I personally didn't need to). #137 Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4) This is an excellent open-world action game. Normally, traveling through open world maps tend to slog a bit after a while but I had fun zipping through New York as the webhead. The game is pretty easy to pick-up and the combat and story is good. The only negative for me is that some of the side stuff can be a bit repetitive - the random crimes in particular - but fortunately they don't take too long and there's a fixed number of them you have to do for the platinum.
Popular Post Undead Wolf
#449 - Gal*Gun ぎゃるがんマスター すべてのトロフィーをコンプリート This is the first Gal*Gun game which released on PS3, the enhanced and uncensored version of the original Xbox 360 release. Yes, this was back before Sony were the ones doing the censoring. Crazy how far we've regressed... But anyway, if you're not familiar with Gal*Gun, it's basically a rail shooter in a school setting where all the girls are madly in love with you. They'll rush towards you with love letters or shout their confessions from afar, and you've got to shoot them with your pheromone arrows before they reach you. Best to do it in their "weak spot" to take them out instantly. The reason why you're doing that is because you have your eyes set on one of the 4 main heroines instead whom you select between at the beginning of each playthrough. This determines what "route" you're on, changing which levels appear (different parts of the school), and you also get exclusive minigames/cutscenes related to the heroine of your choice. Each girl has a bad end, good end, and true end. The ending you get is determined by your stats, dialogue choices, and how well you do on the minigames. You need to get all the endings for a trophy anyway, but I'll get onto that in a bit. All of the girls had their own charms, but my favourite was definitely Aoi, the cute guitar player. ? You have to do basically everything for the platinum. That includes collecting the bios of every single student at the school. Getting the bios of the main heroines is easy enough since you just have to get all the endings as previously mentioned. That's 12 playthroughs right there (but I did more than that to get some of the other trophies). To get the bios of the other students, you have to "doki doki" each one 3 times during a single playthrough. The doki doki mode is essentially a special move you can do where you go into a one on one thingy with the girl you used it on, building up her meter by focusing on her "weak points" once again. She can shield herself though, so you've got to target different areas. This is also the best way to get panty shots. I forget how many students there are exactly, but it's quite a lot. There's a few tricky ones as well, mainly the Kuroda sisters who only appear briefly after fulfilling certain requirements. You have to really go out of your way to get those. So long as you focus on getting the bios from the start though, it's pretty easy to get it done before you've finished all the endings. As for the other trophies, you have to do stuff like perfecting all the minigames in each of the girls routes. That's not so bad since you get quite a lot of practice during all the playthroughs you have to do anyway. The toughest trophy comes from the arcade mode where you take more damage and you don't regen as much health from doki doki mode. Specifically, the "all route" playthrough, which as the title suggests, is every stage from all the routes back to back including boss fights. If you do badly in a boss fight or in a tricky part of a stage, it's pretty easy for things to fall apart quickly, and that can be a tad annoying if you're like 40 minutes into a run (usually takes about an hour to complete it all). It took a couple of attempts for me to beat this. You also have to complete all the stages in the Doki Doki Carnival mode, but that's more tedious than actually difficult. Only other trophies worth mentioning are the ones for 5 rapid ecstasy shots and a 30 ecstasy shot combo. These two definitely take some practice since you have to memorize where the weak spots are on the girls. Best to keep repeating one of the stages over and over until you get it down. This game is the kind of wholesome ecchi content PlayStation is in desperate need of these days. The gameplay itself was a lot of fun too. The PS3 version is in Japanese, but I played it alongside the Switch version that is in English. I look forward to playing Gal*Gun: Double Peace and Gal*Gun 2 in the future. ?
