I was hoping for a Wii U remake. It's neat that it's getting remade, but I'm betting it'll be just like OoT3D. Which is basically exactly the same as the original, except with a couple of updated models, and on a tiny screen, with a horrible circle pad, on a console that digs into my palms. I'm suddenly not excited anymore.

Meh, couldn't care less. I've never really been a big fan of Zelda, especially the newer ones, so I doubt I'll pick this one up. I will say though, it is very humorous that some of the same people that bitch and moan that other companies are remastering games are praising Nintendo for doing the same thing. Yeah it is a little different because this game wasn't from the previous generation, but the point still stands.

The Wind Waker is still the best modern Zelda anyways.

A Link To The Mask

Earlier today Zelda series-director Eiji Aonuma took to Miiverse and posted some more details about the development of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D. Here is what Aonuma-san had to say:

Nintendo Life weren't alone in spotting a series of subtle hints over the past 3 years, so we can only imagine the relief this week's announcement has brought Aonuma and his colleagues. It comes as no great surprise that the game has finally been announced, however it's lack of showing at this year's E3 did start to give us some doubts.

"Since The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D was announced during the most recent Nintendo Direct, I’ve noticed that many of you have posted your thoughts in this community. Now, I'd like to say a few words for myself about Majora’s Mask 3D, which is planned for release next spring.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D was actually in development almost immediately after we finished working on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which was released in June of 2011. So although we’ve been working on the game for quite some time, we didn't want to say it was being developed until we were at a point where we could proudly say that this is not going to be just another remake and that it's going to be worth your time. For a while now, when fans from Japan and around the world would ask me if we were working on a Majora's Mask remake, I would silently plead in my heart, thinking, “Please wait a bit longer!” (laughs).

The Miiverse post then explained a little more about the gameplay, which we expect to be changed from the original in the upcoming 3D remaster.

Fans in Europe are already clambering to get their pre-orders in for the special edition which includes a "specially-designed SteelBook, a Majora’s Mask pin badge, and a double-sided poster showcasing the game’s iconic art style"; hopefully an equivalent will make it to North America, too. Have you ordered yours?

We’ve spent a lot of time making sure the gameplay experience is smoother than in the original version without taking away from this unique world. I hope those that haven’t played the original game, and those of you that played it but gave up mid-way through will take this opportunity to give the new version a try.

Oh, and I should mention that we haven’t removed the distinct look and feel that are unique to this game, so it should live up to this game's Japanese catchphrase, “this Zelda has a scary vibe.” Brace yourselves for what this world has to offer! (laughs)

When it's closer to its release date, I’ll talk more about what has been changed in the Nintendo 3DS version and its new features right here in this community, so stay tuned!

:yay: This news makes me happy.  Sure, I'm not thrilled MM is getting an OoT 3D style port instead of a WW HD remake, but it'll still be a blast to play through on 3DS.
