I personally hate anything that's timed like Speedruns or the trials, so I understand your reluctance to try them. I always hit those red lanterns first on the score attack as they give you more time, just takes practice, patience and familiarity with the layout of the level to do it. On Shadow of The Tomb Raider all you need is the Bronze time and don't have to go for gold or silver or anything so that's easier.
