I also wanted to enjoy the game but all these delusions annoyed me. Not only did they ruin some scenes (especially the more tense ones) but they also felt rather unpredictable. Story-wise it felt like a mix between Steins;Gate and Xblaze Code: Embryo for me and the main protagonish of CC felt too much like the one in XCE. Overall I didn't really like it and after seeing all endings I didn't really care for the VN anymore. At least it was better than the anime, where I already felt annoyed after watching one episode. DamagingRob
Well, that's unfortunate... I just finished Steins;Gate, and hoped all their games would be that good. Think that game effectively broke me. :/ Horizon has not been holding my interest since I finished it. 10 hours ago, voodoo_eyes said: I'm skipping the 2nd one and moving on to the third (at least I think it's the third), just because this one was already installed. I don't care much for the story in these games to begin with so I don't think it'll matter, if I play them in order or not. You monster! The second game was my favorite in terms of story. Gameplay is all roughly the same between the first 3, though. Although, I played the Vita versions of 1 & 2 which were remade with Victory's battle system, so that's probably why. Lol. I actually thought I was playing the first one for a second, as the first area seemed to be identical to the one from the first game, well at least in my mind. I forced myself to play through it because I already bought mk2 and I thought it would continue story-wise, just to find out that it was a completely different storyline without any connections in between besides the CPUs and some side-characters. And it's no surprise that you wondered whether you are playing Victory or Re;Birth 1 as the Re;Birth-versions all use the battle system of Victory and everything else also feels rather similar. Popular Post jasondm300
Game one is over and I started game 2. First my final thoughts Alienation 4 hours 5/42 for 6% E rating A twin stick shooter where you are fighting off hordes of aliens. Like i said in my quick thoughts, a much more polished version of Helldivers or Dead Nation. Around mission 8, something clickes and I was cleaning up. The battleship I only died once, which considering i was dying a dozen or more times on the levels before is quite an achievement for me. I will probably go back to this one as I was start I g to really have a lot of fun with it. The same cannot be said so far about game 2, Battlefield 1. I am not the greatest of players at FPS, but I played about 5 matches, 3 operations, and i just found myself not really having a lot of fun. I will try to go do more of the campaign to get some skill, but I dont think this will push me into the MP FPS scene.
Popular Post crimsonidol38
Game 1, Review: Final Fantasy X HD (PS Vita) Previous posts: Day 1 As I want to spend as much time as possible with playing the games rather than writing about them, I will most probably only write a post after the first day and then one review/sum up after day three. So here's my review for FF X HD. Day 2 wasn't very eventful as I just made my way to and through the temple of Kilika and reached the port town of Luca. And I also had to realize that I had too few ability spheres to enable all abilities right when I traverse them for the first time (only to enable Wakka's Ability Shot and realizing that on day 3 ) Surprisingly, I now reached a point of the game that I haven't seen a few years ago. On Day 3 I spend my time exploring Luca and getting rekt in the Blitzball-match against the Luca Goers. TBH I had quite some trouble the first time I tried to play the match as I felt like the tutorials you get to read before left out the things about formation and I was a bit overwhelmed by the rather fast movement of the Goers. Not to forget that there's no way to play one proper match before the tournament. And yes I'm aware that I didn't have to win that match but it was for Chappo. I decided to restart and check a video and read some posts about it. From one video I watched I learned that it would be most useful to pass the ball to Tidus at least once and afterwards just passing the ball towards the other players before one enemy tries to attack you. Fine, it works much better now and the enemy gets far less goals (only 2 goals in about 8 minutes play time) but I can't hit shit. I'm still not satisfied so another restart. On the third try it went much better as the Goers weren't able to score in the first half and I was able to trigger the rJecht shot right at beginning of the second half. Yay. Afterwards I was able to keep the enemies under control by sheer luck and after Wakka entered the match I was able to score a second goal with him. VICTORY! VICTORY! VICTORY! (after wasting nearly an hour on this... ) Afterwards I killed the baddies who invaded the town and Auron joined the gang (yes!) and I got to see that infamous Tidus laughter (oh no...). Now what's my view on the game? I'm still in a position where I don't understand why the game gets so much praise BUT I will continue nonetheless as I'm eager to learn what will happen and what's the fuss about Sin, Yevon, and about Tidus's dad. Now that Auron joined the gang there's at least a ray of hope that there will be some more serious talk about the whole background story and after seeing that one quarrel with Kimahri in Luca, I'm interested in his background story, too. I'm not sure if I will attempt the plat, though. Main reason is that it seems like you have to do everything the game has to offer, even if it requires a quite some grind or playing the minigames and tbh, I never really liked the minigames in Final Fantasy. The only one I seemed to enjoy was the quiz in FF9 and the treasure hunt in FF9. All the other things, especially the card games bored the heck out of me. Overall I can say that this event surely helped me to give the game a second try. I don't know why I bought the remaster in the first place but now I played it at leeast for a bit (after four years), I can say that I don't regret it. It's no Skies of Arcadia, Wild Arms 1/3, no Breath of Fire IV Final Fantasy VIII / IX, nor a Grandia but at least it's no Ar Nosurge (or Hyperdimension Neptunia 1) either. Stats: Rating: Total playing time: ~7hours (including several restarts due to messing up)Trophies earned: 4 / 34Completion rate: 6% Rank: EDid the game lower my completion? Yes My ratings: AWESOME!!! Fun to play, sure will continue playing these Good while it lasted, but let us just stay friends, kay? Be glad you weren't deleted already Wait, who are you? I don't know you...oh shit, you are in my trophy list Next game: I honestly don't know yet. But I feel like playing Lumines next. Popular Post ImBossy83
#1 Read Dead Redemption Iplayed for about 4.5 hours, mainly focusing on story Missions. I liked what i saw and i'm quite sure this is a game i will go back to. I only got one trophy (bummer) and my completion went down to 55.03% (-0.33%). The game didn't do the best job in explaining things that were going on around me like challenges, Healing and focus shooting (i even don't know the name). I think part of the problem for me was that a lot of it was explained in writing in the upper left corner while i was doing other stuff like riding. The Graphics on the other hand are suprisingly good for an 8 year old game. So i say for anyone that, like me, has been living under a Rock for the past 8 year's and hasn't played Red Dead Redemption yet now is our time. Although i dread the multiplayer part and will probably never get the Platinum because of that

I played BF1 a few KYC events ago and was worried about attaining the MP trophies. Now, the game tells me I have logged more than 90 (!) hours of MP play. It is a hell of a lot of fun but there is a steep learning curve. The base game MP trophies are pretty easy as well, with a few hours of learning. My advice, play support or scout and hang back a bit. Running in fast will likely spell doom. Be a second-tier soldier and let the front line go in and pick off the enemy when they expose themselves to your assault troopers. Also, play with a squad. It helps to redeploy in favorable spots and hopefully, they are fighting as a team. Playing alongside others makes the game easier. It is rare that anyone is on a mic. Operations games are usually the easiest to start with. There's a general line-of-battle so you it's less likely you'll get shot in the back (like with all Team Deathmatch games). And mix it up, hop in a tank and play a bit. Be a medic and revive people. Jump into a beomoth and rack up large kill numbers. I was exactly like you months ago, fretting how I could plow through to attain a few MP trophies. Now, Battlefield 1 is my default game to go to for a few idle hours. Let me know if you have any other questions about MP trophies. Funny thing is, I have yet to get the plat bc I need to play the campaign and get collectibles. But the MP is too much fun to bother with SP!!

Judging a JRPG by the first few hours is a bit unfair as most take their time to unfold their story. Even those that I would call all time favorites o' mine (Golden Sun 1, Wild Arms 3, Final Fantasy 8 & 9, Skies of Arcadia, Lufia 2) had a rather slow start. The problem is that I somehow haven't found a point that I really enjoy so far. Most of the cast that I can play with is a rather unsympathic bunch of douchebags for me. But I guess that will change as I'm now at Luca (right before my first Blitzball-game ever) and according to the guide book (the old Piggyback guide, which should be sufficient for the main story at least and which I mostly use for the item locations) I will meet up with Auron soon. And I'm not too worried about meeting Yojimbo or anything else right now. I will only find enough motivation (due to still feeling sick) to finish up the Luca-portion. I have the feeling that this would be a good cutoff point before I have to play the next game. 'm curious how Blitzball will turn out, though. I only read the tutorial dialogues and I already hate the fact that the fixed camera will change it's point of view from time to time. Glad you're sticking with it. Yeah Tidus can be a whiner but his heart is in the right place. Blitzball is fine, you'll spend 95% of it looking at the mini map anyway, the shifting camera won't make a difference.

Popular Post eigen-space
First Impressions Considering that today is a holiday for us US folks, my husband and I both had the day off. So I decided to start a multiplayer party game with him instead of playing the planned Syberia. In honor of it being Independence Day, we played the very British: Oh... Sir!! The Insult Simulator 17% Complete This game throws you into scenarios where two individuals have conflict; instead of trying to fight their battles with their fists, they enter duels with words. The mechanics are very simple-- create insults from a shared pool of phrases. The only thing that really matters is that they are grammatically correct, even if the phrase you created makes zero sense. You can string combos if you happen to use the same phrase you used in your prior insult (ex-- you insult your opponent's mother every time), and each character has a weak point which earns extra insult points (ex-- one character is very sensitive about his fashion choices). The game uses very basic art, but it definitely fits the game. That's not to say the art is bad... it's just not "high class". They do have great attention to detail though. I definitely caught a bunch of things that made me giggle, like how in one scenario a "dead" bird will point at the character whose turn it is. Some of the voice acting is annoying though. I can understand that it would be difficult to get the inflection right for everything considering that the words can be used in almost any place in your insult.... but sometimes it just sounds bad. I think I might need to turn the voices off when I start grinding the rest of the trophies. HP Lovecraft's voice is definitely the worst IMO. My husband and I definitely enjoyed the 5-ish duels we played, and I can see it being a fun party game. However, I'm sure when I write my review after Day 3 with this game, I will be sick and tired of what I perceive will be a very RNG-dependent grind. One thing that confuses me... these are supposed to be British folks insulting each other very British-ly... yet one of the songs that play on the Title Screen is "Anchors Aweigh", which is the march song for the US Navy... Starting Completion- 92.16% Current Completion- 91.30% (-0.86) Edited July 5, 2018 by eigen-space
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #2: The Sexy Brutale Initial Impressions Time played: 2.5 hrs The Sexy Brutale is what we used to refer to as an 3rd person adventure game, not quite a point and click, but a story where you walk around and try to solve puzzles, advancing the story. In The Sexy Brutale, you play Lafcadio Boone (at least, I think so, these are they names the MC has been referred to by, though separately) who seems to have died(?) and been restored by the Bloody Lady who fades in and out of the scene through a puddle of blood at her feet the same shade as her dress. She magics a mask that you have been wearing, like all other guests and staff at this mansion's masquerade, which allows you to move about unseen, but not unsensed, by others. Guests are being murdered by staff and other denizens of the mansion/casino and you need to stop them by playing with time and manipulating situations so that the guests survive. In doing so, they remove their masks which you absorb into yours, adding abilities which help you to save the next person. The bigger picture still isn't quite clear to me at this point (5 rescues in). The mechanics are clever. You move about the mansion, interacting/taking objects (one at a time) which help you to alter what people do (ie. replacing real bullets with blanks) in order to change the setting enough that people survive the attempts on their lives. You can move through doors or peek through them. Moving into a room with someone in it pretty much leaves you helpless and unable to interact with the room. Peeking allows you to see what is happening so that you can figure out what you need to change. All this takes place within a 12 hour window that you can move back and forth through, moving to benchmark timings (4PM and 8PM) or back to the start of the time period. Actions you take in one timeline are repealed if you return to the start of the window and undone if you don't repeat them before moving forward but some items and knowledge are not lost. The controls are smooth, the atmosphere moderately tense and the characters fairly interesting. There are 2 sets of collectibles, invitations and playing cards. I've found a few of each so far with cards laying about and invitations being on the bodies of the guests when you find their corpses. I assume that the abilities you get will play into finding the cards as I haven't seen many yet and there are 52 to find. So far, I'm enjoying this though looking at the trophy list, it's probably not an extremely long game except maybe for looking for the cards. Trophies earned: 7/19, 31% for D Rank Score so far: 7/10
Popular Post Toogie53
Trophies: 8 of 57 (10%) Time: 5-6 hours Rating: 7/10 Alright! Here is my second game. It's called The Surge. This is a souls-like game with an industrial sci-fi kind of setting. This dev did another souls-like called Lords of the Fallen (LOTF). It was reviewed as pretty meh. This is their second attempt. Having played through Lords of the Fallen myself, I must say this is a huge improvement. The main problem with LOTF was that it felt super clunky. I think they were going for the effect that your armor weighs you down and your 10' long claymore sword is hard to swing. Which makes sense, but I'm not joking when I say that you can push the button to swing and the actual impact of the blow can be up to 3 seconds later. All the other parts of LOTF were actually quite good. It looked super nice, the sound track fit it, there were good varieties of creatures and bosses. It was Dark Souls with an actual understandable narrative. The combat was off; and since that is the actual hook in this genre, it ruined the experience. They've completely fixed it here. The combat is snappy and responsive even with the heavier, slower weapons. They kept the same level of visual impressiveness, etc. I've heard that long-term enemy variety is a problem. Everything seems new and fresh to me now though. I started up The Surge and played for about an hour one night to kind of get situated. The next day I played for a few hours. I think its pretty good so far. Only minor complaints. Mostly, I am having a good time. I got super lost though. There's a part where you go into the basement of the factory and its all dark. You flip a switch on some kind of generator and the lights come on and it's announced that the security systems are back online. I must have forgotten something from the night before because after that, most of my in-game time was spent running in circles looking for where I should be going. Being a souls-like game, I knew the value of grinding, so I'd make my loop around the factory area I was in killing everything then go use my tech scrap (souls) to go level up. Repeat and repeat looking for something new. I thought the basement area was significant so I spent a lot of time going through there again and again. I was switching out my weapons to change things up and experience some new stuff and get a feel for the flow of combat with carious types. My favorite ended up being the one handed variety. I used something that looks like a chain saw and a sword had a baby. A cool feature in the game is you get new weapons by cutting them off of your enemies. Normally, everything burns up after you kill someone. However, if you see a guy with a weapon and you want it, you target your attacks for their arm. If you built up enough energy, you can cut off their whole arm off as a finisher. Then while the rest of the body burns up, you can pick up the weapon for yourself. Armor works in this manner as well. If you need a piece of leg armor, go take off the leg of someone who has it. With armor though, you are usually getting components. So you may have to take the leg off of 5 or 6 guys before you can craft it for yourself. Moving on. Eventually, I gave up on the basement. I remembered a train station type thing early in the game that was offline. So I went over there. On the way there is a big open area, there are a few heaps of scrap, but its just an area you pass through. However, after you've brought security systems back online, when you go there, one of the big heaps of scraps stand up and is a giant security robot that is unhappy that to see you in an unauthorized zone. This is the first boss. I think most people would be level 15-20 at this point. However, since I'm an idiot, I was knocking on the door of level 35. I beat the boss easily after a couple of attempts. It took me a minute to figure out that it was necessary to do a specific action to make it vulnerable to your attacks. Once that clicked though, it was quite simple. I'm not sure how much more of a challenge it would be if I had gone straight to it after turning on the power. I'm going to discuss the story now. I'm not far into the game so I don't think I can spoil anything major. However, if you don't want the first 15 minutes of the games ruined, don't read further. At the start of the game, you are a crippled man that is in a wheel chair. Unfortunately, there is zero character customization. The guy is super generic and not really iconic at all, so it seems like they should have done it, or at least added a female option. You've signed up to join some kind of high-tech company that on the surface has lofty ideals about improving the world for all mankind. When you get there everything is super fancy and nice. You know you're being fed lines of corporate bullshit and you're just kind of waiting for something to happen. This comes when job selection happens. You basically have a choice between a light, agile rig (Lynx) or a heavier, tanky rig (Rhino). You can change rigs later, so it's not a big decision. Once you've chosen, you are unceremoniously strapped to a table and a robot starts literally bolting metal parts to your body. It didn't look like any anesthetic was being used, so your guy is screaming in pain and eventually passes out. From here, you awaken laying on the ground outside. You are now have a cool exo-skeleton and can walk and run etc. However, everything now looks like its in shambles and you are left to piece together what happened to you, what happened to the company, all of the people, etc. I don't have a good idea yet, but based on some emails and audio logs, I think there could have been a virus leaked into the system by a hacker that was either a rebel employee or perhaps some kind of corporate spy sent in to sabotage things. This virus may have made all the robots go malevolent. However this is just guesswork and I wouldn't be surprised if I was completely wrong. I'm intrigued and want to play more. Popular Post Metal Slime King
Game #1 - Evolve () First off, this game's server is scheduled to go offline September 3rd so if you're interested, keep that in mind. The only trophy this is supposed to affect is a quick one to save a custom player badge as the game is still supposed to be able to connect peer to peer afterwards but I don't plan on taking any risk since I currently have active support for boosting. In this 5 player game a team of 4 human(oid) hunters team up against a more powerful monster type character. The hunters have to use their different skills to hunt, trap and kill the monster. The monster attempts to avoid the hunters long enough to eat wildlife and level up (evolve) to their tier 3 capabilities at which point they want to confront the hunters or otherwise complete the objective of the game mode. You can play with 1-5 people and any vacant spots will be filled with functionally competent bots. The hunters play mostly like a 1st person shooter and the monster plays like a 3rd person action game. The game plays well enough and I haven't had many issues, I've fallen out of the map into oblivion a couple of times and froze up once but the game is otherwise playable. There are numerous game modes that change the game objectives around but the core mechanics stay the same. The hunt mode is the most definitive Evolve mode I would say and it's certainly a fun, unique experience but I don't really think there's enough here across all game modes for a full game or to have a lot of replay value. I guess that's why it's dead and the servers are shutting down. It gets old pretty quick, which is a shame considering the amount of grinding they want you to do for the platinum. There are a bunch of different characters you can choose (and you can buy even more, which I'm sure is what the devs were counting on and may also be why the servers are shutting down) and they have different abilities that create different play styles. I'd say the biggest difference are in the monsters because the hunters all have to conform to their classes (Assault, Support, Hunter, Medic). Although you can choose what characters you like, if you're going for the plat it's a false choice because (I'm pretty sure) you have to max out each (freely available) character. I can already tell that is going to take far longer than reaching the max player level of 40. So, not a strong recommendation on this one. It works for what it is but that doesn't seem like very much. Probably how much fun you have with this game will be determined by the people you suck in to trudge through it with you.
voodoo_eyes
40 minutes ago, Metal Slime King said: Game #1 - Evolve () I've played this on and off for the past month or so. It's fun for a few matches, but then just becomes dull. Not going for the platinum myself, as I just can't be bothered to put in tons of hours into this. The concept itself is interesting (and can be successful, see Dead By Daylight and Friday the 13th), but this game's main problem was that it came out and immediately after tried to throw DLC packs at you which indicated that they intentionally cut content (characters mainly) to sell separately. Didn't go over well and the game tanked as a result. Edited July 5, 2018 by voodoo_eyes
Popular Post Lars
Hello, I hope i can still participate because i really enjoyed the last time i participated. Have been busy with school work in the period after that but i encountered some games in that event that i really enjoyed. Because i'm lacking in time i just want to limit my list to 5 games. They are all AAA titles that i haven't given a chance yet, just like 70% of my games. They are: God of War Life is Strange ( i know this is short and regarded as an easy plat but it got great reviews and i would ike to experience this) Nier: Automata Assassin's Creed: Origins The Witcher 3 I have to limit myself because i'm getting close to platinum #150 and that plat is another game that i also have to finish. Otherwise i don't have enough playtime in the games i feel. Hope i can stil participate
DamagingRob
I'm still technically on my first game's fixture, but not sure if I'll be playing anymore of Horizon. I do like it, but just... haven't been in the mood to play it? Which led to me downloading and starting Bloodborne yesterday, after I realized my data cap had quadrupled! Apparently the cable upgrade my parents recently got also upgraded our internet package. As I figured, I am dying a lot. Lol. I was getting pretty annoyed by that at the beginning, but managed to get some better armor and level up some. After that, it wasn't quite so bad. I've killed 3 bosses, and they've seemed easier than regular enemies. Only died once to the second one. But I had to expend a ton of healing items in their fights. :/ Anyways, I'll likely give it a full review (and Horizon a final one) in a couple of days. I should invite someone to my game, and see what the results are. Will they actually help, or stab me in the back? 17 hours ago, Crimson Idol said: but at least it's no Ar Nosurge (or Hyperdimension Neptunia 1) either. What made Ar Nosurge so bad? I do think Ar tonelico Qoga was better, but I still enjoyed that one a lot..
Popular Post crimsonidol38
Game 2, Day 1: Lumines Remastered (PS4) Lumines was originally released back in 2004 on the PSP and similar to Patapon, LocoRoco or Parappa the Rapper this is a slightly enhanced port with Full HD-graphics. But what is Lumines exactly? To put it simply it's a Tetris-like puzzle-game with an emphasis on music and rhythm. In Lumines the only shape you will see is a square consisting of 2x2 pieces and each piece has one of two possible colors, e.g. green and blue. The goal is to arrange the squares in a way so that you can align multiple pieces of the same color in a shape that has to be in rectangular shape of at least 2x2 pieces. If that's fulfilled, the blocks will disappear once a rhythm line surpassed the blocks, which results in earning you points and pieces that were sitting atop the removed pieces to fall down. The catch is that the rhythm line increases or decreases the speed based on the beat of the current song playing. So when there's a rather slow-paced electro song you have more time to align the squares to rack up some point multipliers, but you also have to wait longer when you want to clean up the mess you did. The game features several modes. There's one (more or less) endless mode where you have to reach the highest level possible. The level increases once you clear a given amount of squares. So it's like the classic Tetris-mode A. Then there's a puzzle mode where you have to create some specific shapes with the blocks like crosses, bigger squares etc. Another mode requires you to fulfill specific challenges like clearing all blocks with only one move or creating a blank column in a given time. One other mode gives you a given time frame and you have to clear as many 2x2 squares as possible. E.g. for the easiest one it's to clear either 40 or 50 squares in 60 seconds. Yay. My best so far was 37 squares. There's also a trophy for clearing 320 squares in a timeframe of 300 seconds. Another mode allows you to play either against the CPU or a second player. In here both players share the same space only to be separated by a border that either moves towards your or your oppenent's side, depending on how well one performs. The goal is to squash the opponent by doing good combos. At least that's what I think because I played it for about half an hour and didn't really know why I was either losing or winning because in some levels I had problems to keep my concentration. The combination of the block's shape plus the music gave me some real headache at some points. One good example was CPU 2 (not my video): Spoiler So far I feel a bit underwhelmed. I played the latest Lumines for Vita back in 2013 and I really enjoyed the gameplay and the music but this one really stresses me and the one hour I spend so far wasn't really enjoyable. BTW: I just read that Lumines is originally by Tetsuya Mizuguchi. Some may know him for other games like Rez, Meteos, or Child of Eden. 20 hours ago, Fidel said: What made Ar Nosurge so bad? It more felt like a Visual Novel with tacked on JRPG-elements as I spend only ~15 hours with actual fights and exploring the (bland) world and ~35 hours with reading the sheer endless dialogs which could also have been compressed into 5 hours max as there was too much filler. You probably wouldn't like Ar tonelico, then.. A lot of reading in both games. Ar tonelico had way more voiced lines, though. I think my reasons for not liking it as much as Qoga were the lack of voiced lines (compared to Qoga), and the huge amount of synthesis crap you had to do. Spent way too much of your Platinum time on that junk.. But other than that, and a change in battle systems, I don't think they were that different. Blitzball is fine, you'll spend 95% of it looking at the mini map anyway, the shifting camera won't make a difference. It seems to be a rather typical thing to dislike the main male character of a Final Fantasy, at least for me. From those I (partially) played (1, 2, 4 to 10, Type-0 HD) I only "enjoyed" Squall from 8 and even he was a whiner and I only liked him somehow because he was the lone wolf of the group. And about Blitzball: Yeah it's easy when you know that you just have to focus on the map but it seems irritating at first.
