None of the stroking games such as Stroke the Dog, Stroke the Cat, Stroke the Hedgehog have a banner pic. But because they're basically the same game just reskinned for money maybe we can have the same banner image universally copied over to them. I would suggest the below image

We should hold an art competition on who could make the nicest banner artwork of a shovel lodged into a garbage pile of PlayStation games xD

... But in all seriousness the reason we don't do it is because it's a big waste of time for us, too many lists, too many repeats, etc

Funny, updating the image for each of these "games" every time they release is probably more effort than getting their platinum... Maybe when Sony stops the release of such garbage which they're planning to do in the coming months that'll be a good time to genuinely consider this. I wonder if @HusKy would also know how to write a code that can maybe apply the same image to whatever game titles are considered shovelware as it'd be funny to stick the same banner on all of them simultaneously, Sly was able to quickly identify shovelware to filter it out of the recent games section and front page at least so maybe there's a way to also change their banner pics without doing it manually per list.

That's the GI team manually tagging all these games.

And right now the script, or users in general, can't identify which list is flagged with shovelware flag.

We tagged it all manually at first, but most of it is automatic now for incoming lists, and we manually tag whatever makes it through

I told Sly he should just remove ~500 pixel height of banner image space for these games so it's basically just a list lol

Tales From the Borderlands should be "Stage 4" in the Borderlands Series:

Considering the chronological order of the Borderlands Series:

STAGE 4

Tales from the Borderlands

STAGE 5

Borderlands 3

Just wondering if this has been checked @BlindMango

Appreciate the massive effort. The only reason I chose PSNP as my main trophy tracking website is because its presentation. The banner makes it look clean

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but have you considered putting games into series based on the developer, especially for games that aren't already in a series? Often these games are linked in some way, whether it's spiritual sequels with similar themes, art style or gameplay, or games that have a more direct connection through details that might imply the games take place in the same world and/or have characters crossing over between games. I don't think the game title, main character or plot are the only things that should define a series. And even for games with no direct connection, I still think there is value in grouping them as a series, allowing us to track our progress through a developer's works.

Some examples of series I think would be appropriate:

  • Team ICO (ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian)
  • Giant Sparrow (The Unfinished Swan, What Remains of Edith Finch)
  • Playdead (Limbo, Inside)
  • thatgamecopany (flOw, Flower, Journey)
  • Supergiant Games (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, Hades)
  • Housemarque (Super Stardust HD, Resogun, probably others I'm not sure)
  • Tim Schafer / LucasArts (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango)
  • Telltale Games

You have a point. I, for one, totally agree with the examples you laid out of “spiritual continuity.” Given enough examination, this list (if it isn’t already) could be completed. It’s a fruitful way to present games that are undeniably connected, if not strictly by title.

I hate to break it to you, but you may or may not like the official answer you get. I suggested the same thing as you did for the Kemco RPGs in light of the treatment given to the Kairosoft simulators. The answer I got was really strange. No need to name people because that’s not necessary and you can find those posts with a simple search query anyway. To summarize, Kemco isn’t a series on PSNP because, along the way, they made some games that are direct sequels to each other, or its own series within, along with another reference to the grand old IGDB integration which is surely sufficing for whatever I was going on about. I’m sure it’s great system…when it even knows what genre a game is or what date it even released. Publisher/Developer searches won’t discriminate for you though, you’ll be flipping through everything they produced, not just what you’re looking for. I do concede that “Order: Latest” will give you [reverse] order of release.

(3 “series within a series”)

https://psnprofiles.com/series/195-asdivine

https://psnprofiles.com/series/875-alphadia-genesis

https://psnprofiles.com/series/342-revenant

(The 3 disc compilations, its own series)

https://psnprofiles.com/series/490-kemco-rpg-selection

(The publisher sorting)

https://psnprofiles.com/games?publisher=1281-kemco

The reason I want to uplift your suggestion, and call out what’s really some BS, is the prior existence of the same idea already in practice.

https://psnprofiles.com/series/1015-ps2-classics

https://psnprofiles.com/series/42-arcade-archives

Not just in these examples, but I would also refer to “series within a series” already being allowed without further segregation.

https://psnprofiles.com/series/25-final-fantasy
(If explanation is needed, this page contains FFX & FFX-2, FFXIII & FFXIII-2, and eventually the upcoming second part of the FFVII remake).

https://psnprofiles.com/series/72-tales
(This contains Tales of Symphonia & Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, and Tales of Xillia & Xillia 2. Presumably would also contain Tales of Destiny & Destiny 2 in the event any first-era Tales games were brought to trophy supported platforms)

So long story short, whatever rule or principle is guiding these implementations, it’s either being done selectively or there’s more than one set of rules. I imagine a counter argument such as “Arcade Archives” being a brand of its own, justifying the series page. That should leave PS2 Classics to be explained, and if not, we should get a head start and put Doom 64 in “N64 Classics.” However if your suggestion goes unsubstantiated, you’ll just have to do the (undemanding) research if you’re (understandably) concerned about playing a string of games in order of release, and if the IGDB info isn’t all plugged in.
