I have been playing Minecraft for a long time.

 

Like a really long time.

 

I first played it when Notch was testing the very first mutliplayer version way back in the summer of 2009. https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Java_Edition_Multiplayer_Test

Back then it was creative mode only, had only a handful of blocks to build with, and was extremely limited in scope. But it was very fun to play with a group, and I saw its potential. I remember back then that there was a total copies sold stat on the site. It was under 500. I didn't actually buy it at the time, as buying it only let you change your player skin, everything else was free. As the game developed survival was implemented which required a purchase to play, so in summer 2010 I bought the game at the very start of the Alpha version. Funnily enough, summer 2009 is also when I purchased the PS3 that I just platted this on. I liked the game back then, but I never imagined that it would become the absolute juggernaut that its become, nor that it would ever release on the PS3 I had just bought, let alone me getting the plat for it 13 years after I first played the game. The impact that Minecraft has had on my life is immense. I must have thousands of hours clocked. The only thing I may have more hours in is Smash Bros as I used to play competitively.

 

So now that you know a little about my history with the game I can say that nothing at all in this trophy list was the least bit challenging to me. I have done everything that the base game and DLC trophies require dozens if not hundreds of times before over the years.

 

That said, if you are a new player the vast amount of stuff you have to do is daunting. The trophies require you to interact with basically every mechanic in the game in some capacity. If you don't want to learn the game and can find someone with a trophy world you can pop most of the trophies fairly easily. Alternatively, the tutorial world (which is not in the PC version) has everything you need to do all the trophies significantly easier then starting a new world from scratch.

 

I personally used the tutorial world to save some time. I still wanted to do it all again, but didn't feel like starting from scratch because I really don't like the way the game controllers with sticks. Plus the crafting sucks on consoles. I got everything done in about 12-15 hours, but then due to one trophy I then just had to let my ps3 idle in game for another 20 or so hours. Fun times. Honestly kind of surprised my PS3 didn't complain about being on that long. She is a sturdy old girl.

 

Since I had no trouble with anything I can't really say why this has 7 ultra rares. People just couldn't be bothered with some of the DLC trophies I guess. Regardless, happy to have this done. I have previously done the Vita version as well. Might do the PS4 version in the future if I can be bothered to get a physical copy with the editions button.

The infamous Surgeon Simulator.... you control JigSaw and your goal is to torture save a masochist patient (Bob) who enjoyes stuff like getting blades in the eyes or eating his own teeths.

There is a great platinum walkthrough which helps a lot to know how to proceed with each surgery, which are just 5 that take place in 4 different areas.

People complain a lot about the controls, while I complain about the physics in this game, up to the point that I could call this game Ubisoft Simulator. Objects fly like crazy for the minimal touch and the hand you control can easily get stucked inside everything, and items get stucked inside the hand as well, not to mention the horrible grab when you need to get the tools which just flick away. You need a lot of luck to make it through some trophies, which are plenty.

There are time trials or blood left trophies for each surgery, with some being annoying, also you need the A++ ranks everywhere, you could downgrade to make this trophy quite easy but in my case I couldn't even begin the steps to downgrade so i had to take the hard way: the A++ ranks are super irritating in the Ambulance location because the driver will constantly start some drift showoffs, which can even go on for over a minute making the A++ impossible when that happens since your hand will follow the ambulance's direction and all the objects will fly all around, potentially hurting the patient.

If you can make it past this phase, the platinum is granted, just several misc trophies and some secret surgeries with an alien, hopefully you just have to clear them.

 

 

This ends my third quarter bounty hunt, now I will randomly pick some UR games in my library until the final quarter.

That sits unobtainable at the minute due to trophies broken after the last update, but devs assuring its being fixed in the next update

I thought having to actually play games for Become a Legend mode would end up being my plat killer due to my complete lack of experience with sports anything, but it turns out that the Beginner AI is actually dumb instead of just "dumb to people who know the footballs," which makes getting into goal-scoring position fairly easy enough that even with me not being the best at getting goals, I can still get like 3-7 per game depending on luck. Best Asian Footballer is my last roadblock on way to the plat and then it's just a grind to sim through Master League.

Easy self-boost, though it requires five devices that can run the game for one trophy (I used my PC, Xbox, PS5, and two Switches) and despite it being free-to-play, you need the Premium pack on one of your devices to set up private matches. Was thankfully able to find online shops still selling codes for said pack for the Steam version of the game since it's officially been delisted on every storefront.

Descenders was dope, extremely fun during the entire journey. One of our event hosters, Arcesius, wrote good guides for both the main game and the DLC, I only disagree with the difficulty rating, a 5 seems too low comparing it to other games, I would personally rate it a 7/10, but that's completely subjective at the end of the day.

 

In Descenders you have to get from point A to B (with no time limit) and, since the worlds are procedurally generated, you can't predict what is about to come. There are 3 platinum blockers: Deathless Run, Volcano and Bonus Worlds. The deathless run is not that bad once you practice unavoidable boss jumps (big ramps) with seeds and start to understand better what each world can generate, some luck can help but every run should be doable with enough skill. Volcano is the secret region in the normal career, getting in there was the hardest challenge of the game for me and also why bonus worlds are hard too (because there's one in volcano), to get in there you have to get a fire node and also do every boss jump (you can't avoid them like in the deathless run).

 

The DLC requires you to basically get the platinum and do a bunch of other stuff, there's just too many things to cover here.

So this was a fun one! I’d been wanting to check this one out for a couple years now and when it came to PS+ I figured now was the perfect time.

 

Like many of you, I grew up when the THPS franchise was at it’s peak popularity and so I’ve got fond memories of playing these games as a kid. Unlike most people though, I never got a chance to fully experience any of them. My parents weren’t big on video games and didn’t like the idea of my brothers and I growing up sitting in front of screens, so sadly I never owned any consoles while I was growing up. The bulk of my gaming experience as a kid came from brief sessions here and there where I’d go to a friend’s house after school or occasionally spend a night on the weekend. These sessions were great fun, but also rather limited in nature of course.

 

Getting the chance to relive these games now as an adult was a pretty cool experience. On one hand it felt brand new as I’d never done a full career playthrough of the game and there was tons of stuff I’d never seen back in the day. But on the other, there was a lot of familiarity, and certain elements (such as the phenomenal soundtrack) brought such strong memories flooding back that it felt like I was still a 7 year old kid playing split-screen H-O-R-S-E or Trick Attack in my buddy’s room. The links between music and memory really is quite amazing.

 

It was also a kick in the butt realizing how little I understood these games back then. The only other skateboarding franchise I am familiar with is the much more realistic Skate games. Also, I was a pretty avid skateboarder in my youth, so back then I was always trying to emulate realistic tricks and lines when playing THPS. Picking up the game now, I realized very quickly that this game is not realistic at all and that lengthy combos, crazy special tricks and huge high scores are the name of the game here.
 

I had no skills to carry over so I had to begin developing them from scratch, but watching my own skill growth throughout the journey was really awesome and what made this a really satisfying platinum. It’s funny looking back to those early hours when I would struggle with something really simple like trying to reach a tricky Stat Point or clear the rooftop gap in Downtown, and comparing that to where I eventually got to after dozens of hours of practice!

 

The trophy list for this game is fairly tough, being a mixture of skill based challenges and the high intensity grind to level 100. After playing through the campaign a few times and maxing out a few different characters, the real game begins as you start diving in to all the post-game challenge stuff and the various miscellaneous trophies. The hardest challenges in the game are called ‘Got There’s’. Basically each level in the game has dozens of gaps, and the Got There challenges require you to link a certain number of specific gaps around the map in a single combo. They look really easy on YouTube when when you watch someone else do them, but it’s not until attempting them yourself that you realize how tricky they are and how many finicky little mechanics each one is comprised of.

 

’Got There’ is definitely one of the trickiest single trophies I’ve done in awhile. All told, it probably took me around 25 hours to get it done. The vast majority of them weren’t actually too bad and probably took me 20-30 minutes on average, but some of the harder ones ate up many hours in practice before I was finally successful. Downhill Jam and Venice Beach took me several hours a piece, primarily due to the really finicky gaps not registering most of the time. The Ramp 2 Roof gap on VB is straight up glitched. The notorious Bullring took me 6 hours, with half a dozen runs during that time coming so agonizingly close that it was disheartening. And of course, the infamous School 2 map took me the longest, clocking in at around 8-9 hours spread over a 2 day period.
 

I managed to save some footage of some of my runs. So far I’ve only uploaded Venice Beach and School 2, but I will share them below if anyone is interested. Just look how close I came to eating concrete on that final manual on School 2 ?

The final step to the platinum was the grind to level 100. I’ve done many grinds far longer and far more tedious, but what makes this one so taxing is that it’s a very high intensity grind that is very hard on your hands and fingers and difficult to keep up for a long period of time. To keep from going nuts or giving myself early onset arthritis, I committed to doing 5 levels per day and so it wasn’t too bad.

 

I’m pretty proud of myself for this one. Some people might find this game a lot easier than I did, especially if they have a lot of experience with THPS. But for me it was a fairly tough journey and one that required some perseverance. I absolutely loved every second of it though, and watching my skills grow with each passing day was extremely rewarding! I really hope they remaster more THPS games so I can get a chance to try them too.

What a Doozy! This game took an age to finish! I would probably consider saying this is the longest I have ever grinded for a game's Platinum/100%. The online mode is a pain in the ass as you have to reach rank 250 and the 'fastest' way to do that is to reach rank 50 across 5 disciplines. I had raced over 1890 times in online races on the same oval race track. This coupled with excruciatingly long times in between each race it took me over 100 hours to finish the online grind. At least the menu music is nice!

 

Then the Campaign which takes in excess of over 50 hours just to complete each Championship makes this a long boring slog to crawl through. I fell asleep so many times just grinding away on this game, not a very complimentary statement as I tended to reserve podcast episodes or go through my sub box on YouTube and just listen to videos in the background while concentrating on winning races.

 

There was a scare I had last year around March where the Racenet feature had gone down for half a year. This was a feature to complete a racing challenge and this was very difficult. I could never complete the trophy associated to this feature and before I knew, this Racenet feature had got decommissioned without any prior notice from Codemasters. Luck be have it, the Racenet feature miraculously came back in December of last year and that was my motivation to come back to this game and finish off the Racenet trophy and then go for the remaining trophy for online.

 

With all that being said and done, I don't think it was worth it but since I now have two GRID games completed on my profile I decided long ago to go for the franchise completion and I already own GRID PS4 and GRID Legends on PS5. GRID PS4 will be next but it has it's own stupid grindy trophy of it's own which is to drive the circumference of the Planet Earth (I hate trophies like this) but I hear there is a rubber band/turbo controller technique to just let this play out on it's own. I'm pretty excited to try out GRID on PS4 as I have spent far too long playing GRID Autosport with it's bland and muddy graphics running on aging hardware that I could do with an upgrade in visuals and a less grindy trophy list.

World Soccer Winning Eleven 2014 (JP): 100%

 

Nice to finally have one of these done. Wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. Was sorta miffed that I had to actually play matches for Become a Legend since you can't just plop on Coach mode for matches like you can for Competition mode, but the AI was easy enough to deal with anyway that I didn't have any major struggles. Even the notably iffy Best Asian Footballer trophy came on my first try, likely because I resigned myself to having to play every match I could instead of trying to BS it with simming. I remember the Performance Training drills being a bit of a pain, but I dealt with that on this stack and the NA stack back when I first intended to do these in early 2021, so I won't have to deal with that again until I get to the EU stack.

 

Speaking of which, I'll be doing the NA stack next since it's already on my profile from early 2021. EU stack will be afterwards.

It's a shame that this got delisted, because my god what a fun game this was! CoJ Gunslinger is an "Arcade Western FPS" where you get more points the faster you kill your enemies. It also has a great story and the crazy Spaghetti Western vibes that I enjoy  

Wish they added the first Call of Juarez on Playstation too, that one is still my favorite to this day.

Update!

 

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is now complete! It was touch and go for a second as I was contemplating whether or not I had the time and mental capacity to finish it before server closure, but decided to go for it and don't regret it one bit. A bit disappointed that EA closed down Pandemic Studios and now Mercenaries 3 will never come out.

Anyways, my second entry to Tier 2 is now complete.

I'm theoretically on an indefinite hiatus from PSNP, and don't really have much time to play these days anyways... Hell, I'm still stuck in Tier 1, if that's not saying something ?

 

Still, I have finished 6 games for this event, I thought I would write a short post summarizing my thoughts on them: 

 

 

I am Bread

I woke up one day and spontaneously decided to give this one a go... I was expecting a difficult, frustrating game that would take a lot of time and effort... But that wasn't the case. The only real challenge this game has to offer is the "dreaded" Garden Cheese Hunt level, and half of the difficulty in that level comes from the constant glitches ruining your run. There are a couple of other rather annoying levels in this mode (for example the Bedroom level), but even that one is nothing compared to Garden. 

 

Slay the Spire

One of the best games I've played this year! I love card games, and this one is probably the best "on-the-fly" deck builder I've ever played  

If I were to give a tip to a new player... do everything with The Watcher ? That character is both extremely fun, and also extremely OP. Can't wait to get my hands on Griftlands! Hopefully that one is equally great! 

 

Deep Rock Galactic

Played this one with @HusKy, @Mori and @Exhuman1988. The game is fantastic in coop and on the harder difficulties, and the most memorable moments for me were the tense situations in the Elite Deep Dives. 

Unfortunately, the trophy list is a piece of crap. The initial 40h were a LOT of fun... The subsequent 120h were the worst, most meaningless grind I have ever endured. What a draining experience ?

 

Shiftlings

Did this one in coop with @Mori, and somehow we never got into the right mood for this one ? There were too many issues with this game, ranging from the placement of collectibles, to shitty hit-boxes... Or maybe we just played this game at the wrong times... dunno, but it wasn't the most enjoyable experience. 

 

Badland

Now, this was a long-term project... Again, my coop-partner for this one was @Mori, who approached me a couple of years ago thanks to my Trophy Checklist asking if I would be interested in this game... 

After quite some time, we decided to give the game a go. And it was actually a rather enjoyable game for the most part! The single player campaign, the various challenges and most of the coop campaign were fairly straightforward and enjoyable... And then there are a couple of really infuriating coop levels, with absurd requirements that allow for little to no mistakes... Add a shareplay-connection on top of that and making "no mistakes" can be pretty difficult, depending on the connection... Even the "impossible" power up was less frustrating than some of those later coop levels ? I don't remember how long that one took us, but it wasn't longer than 1h per person, somehow. 

 

Eldest Souls

My latest completion! Eldest Souls is a boss-rush game, very similar to Jotun, but with build customization and in pixel-art. I had a lot of fun with this one, and was also surprised by NG+... It was a bit harder than I was anticipating!

When going for the no-hit trophies against all bosses, the game shows some design flaws.. but besides one boss that took me 532 (yes, you read that right!) tries (~6h of retries), the remaining bosses were relatively easy... As long as you have a high-damage build! 

That's probably my biggest issue with this game... Most builds are not viable for these kinds of challenges. All videos I've found about no-hit fights use the same build, which is a shame. 

 

 

As for the other games that have some progress... I still hate Bleed and am not at all looking forward to getting back to it eventually... I got some motivation to get back to Super Meat Boy Forever and completed 3/5 deathless runs of the dark worlds before dropping the game again to play something else instead (Returnal, which doesn't qualify for the event), but I went back to it yesterday... And I started Victor Vran with @Mori, @Koro249 and @Exhuman1988, but the game might take a while to complete still... 

If I run out of patience with SMBF, I will probably start A Pixel Story next...

Yeah, i completed it to 100% when there was no DLC released. That came after and its still stuck at £15.99 on PSN so waiting for a sale
